- After months of requests for it, the first installment of the multi-part series on Airbrushing has arrived! This video is meant to give the very basics of airbrushing by first going over the components that you'll need to get started and what to look for when shopping for equipment.
The following videos will get much more in depth and will eventually lead up to a full build/paint along video!

Exactly what I needed after getting a heavily discounted iwata ninja jet! Thanks so much! Your review style is great, this really deserves more views.
Thank you! Share please!
Really looking forward to going over your spray booth and vent system
Great video but I don't see any part 2 or 3 in your video collections 3 years later?
Never got around to it lol
Great explanation
Thanks!
I like your videos a lot. Excellent coverage of the details. Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Thank you so much for making this! I just got back into gunpla and have always wanted to learn to airbrush! I love your videos and the quality you output! Keep it up.
Thank you so much! Hopefully the future videos will help you more!
Thanks for the info! I just got the Neo top feed and Ninja 🥷for my first airbrush setup! I'm so excited!
Thanks and you'll love that airbrush! I'm excited for you 😃!
Great info! Thank you!! Looking into buying one now. 🙌🏽
Glad this was useful! I'm sure you'll do great with the build!
With my OCD, I prefer the ninja for it's constant sound 🙂
Great Tutorial! I will watch the other part(s), and it already inspiredme to finally try and paintbrush one of my next gunpla kits! Thank you so much!
Thank you and im glad this helped!
Great video. Nice audio too. Fortunately I bought the Iwata Pro by chance.. n am very happy with it.
Thanks dude and yeah, i love mine!
Excellent.
Appreciate this series, thanks for sharing your knowledge bro 👍🏼
thanks man!
Thank you, I looking to get into Airbrushing, just trying to figure out where to start.
Here's a good place lol. Message me on Instagram with any other questions. I'll gladly help you out
Really liked this video is there a part 2 I cant seem to find
I'm actually on my way out now to purchase the Ninja for my first compressor. This was helpful, thanks.
Cool! What did you end up getting?
I don’t have anything like this but I think I’d get the Iwata Smart Jet Pro to start. I makes less noise and it doesn’t make continuous noise.
Thanks for this tutorial. 👍💯🔥
Youll love it and its worth every penny. Thanks for the consistent comments and support dude!
@@Curioventura No problem.
Well, i was not sure if you should get myself an Iwata smart pro, but now i am. Thanks alot! Dont want to wake sleeping deamons when im painting at night. Have you ever had the time to make the 2nd part of this video. It would be really helpfull for me.
Glad this helped and yes, ill eventually do a part 2 lol
Thank you so much for the info very appreciated.
Thank you!
New subscriber nothing but awesomeness thanks
Thank you!
Good video are you going to cover compressors with a air tank which are even quieter as it stores air. Not sure if you other airbrush goes in tip first so it protects the end
Thank you for sharing. I do have a couple of questions if you can kindly help me with. I am thinking to start to go into airbrushing and I am looking to get a compressor, I am eyeing on Iwata Ninja or Silver Jet because I will have to do it on the balcony, hence I will be carrying the compressor in and out of the house whenever I am going to do airbrushing.
1. Some folks in the forum said it is best to get something with an air storage tank so that the pressure is steady. Since you are using Iwata Ninja, I would wanna know if the air flow is steady always?
2. The working psi for Iwata Ninja is 1-15, and required PSI for some paint type is around 20-30 ish, will Iwata Ninja be sufficient?
3. Which brand and model would recommend other than Iwata Ninja?
Should I buy the ninja iwata as a beginner? I can’t afford one that is too expensive. Or should I go with another compressor? I want a good one that’s gonna last and is not too loud (because of my family😂)
I think it's a great compressor that's quality and as quiet as you can get.
@@Curioventura does it have a tank?
Like does it make noise all the time?
It's not always on but it will kick on when you spray like almost all others and it's tankless I belive
I just purchased a used Iwata ninja same top fed one you are used. I’m a tattoo artist and I want to do art on automotive products. I’m a beginner so first off thanks for your videos. For doing metal what is the best airbrush and what’s the best paint for somebody on a budget. I’m starting with doing my brothers race truck that he will kill me if I mess up. Well I need help! I’m a complete beginner. Thanks. I didn’t get instructions with my used iwata compressor
Ok so first off, thanks for the questions! Second, Tamiya is fantastic, relatively cheap paint thats easy to clean with alcohol. Second, check out the Candy finish video i did. I'm sure it'll help you quite a bit as I use metallics in that. Take your time and practice your airbrush control on a sheet of paper first. You'll get it. Just take it slow
I have a compressor with a relatively large tank, so I don't have to keep it on all the time. The downsides are the weight and size... has wheels tho!
Please tech us the paint preparation and mixing to create new colors.
Great video as always! ❤
As long as it gives consistent air pressure and has a water trap youre good to go! Those wheels though lol! I actually started filming that 2 weeks ago but i have a severe upper respiratory infection now thats slowed me down. The video will come out though soon!
Is the water trap a must have if I buy the Ninja jet compressor or could I use it anyway? Thank you for the video it's been helpful!
Yes it's always a must. Condensation builds up regardless and thanks! You can pick up a cheap inline trap. Just make sure the thread pitch matches the airbrush and hose
@@Curioventura Okay thank you for quick answer!
Anytime 😊
Thank you for this tutorial. My only question is can you tell us what water trap is on the ninja? I can’t seem to find a consistent answer on this. I see the Badger 50-2014 or random generic brands. Thanks
Thanks! My bad for not answering it but it's a generic one I got off of Amazon. Works great
Im not sure if you still read these but im curious what that small metal siphon cup you had was called. I only paint small items and got a deal on the neo siphon I got but I dont want to waste paint.
Still here, still read and reply lol. That's actually a cup for my old badger 555 airbrush. It fits the iwata nicely
@curioventura I wasnt expecting a fast reply thank you have you seen the paasche 1/4 oz metal cup for vl, mil, si, and the airbrush. Would it work?
I'm always around lol. No I'm not sure if those would work
I live in a condo as well so my biggest concern and the reason i haven't started airbrushing is the area I'm in. If you could talk about how to airbrush in a condo/apartment and the setup involved i would greatly appreciate it. I'm just concerned about my surroundings, i dont want to get paint on them(how likely with a spray booth?) or make too much vibration for my neighbor below(is there anything i can put below the compressor to help with that?).
Fantastic videos, i will definitely be keeping my eye out for more!
I have my compressors resting on a folded up towel and they're on my table, not the floor. In may years ive never had 1 single complaint. I have a spray booth that i made that works great in keeping the paint contained. Check out ebay and amazon for small portable spray booths with ventilators and filters on them. Those work pretty good and are inexpensive and easy to set up. Thanks for the input and support!!
I used to airbrush in my apartment, would have to set up everything near my patio door. A little tarp and setting my compressor on a towel just for extra measure. Got a spray booth and bought a dryer tube taped to the back of the vent leading outside the door of my patio
@@11rikk11 that works lol!
how long for these to overheat ? the larger one of the two seems alot better both db and it for some reason would do better if you paint a canvas and want to get going for 5 - 8 hours or do you have to stop at some point and let it cool off ? great video thankx
None of them have ever overheated on me and I've used both for up to 6 hours at a time. Theyre great compressors
I just got a used iwa
Congrats!
Could you tell me what model siphon airbrush you’re using? All of the siphon feed airbrushes I’m seeing on Iwatas website only come with a bottle and no cups.
The cup is actually from my old Badger 555. Fits right in with no issues
Nice video dude! Got a question though, i also own a smart jet pro but I feel like it overheats a little too quick (around 10 mins before it auto shuts down). How long does yours work while spraying continuously?
Thanks! Mine never shuts down and I use it for hours on end? Is yours in an open area with nothing around it? I dust mine regularly. Possibly that helps?
@@Curioventura Thanks for the tips! Apparently it was because i was using 220V instead of the actual 120V that it needed (and stated clearly on the manual lol) Bought a step down transformer and now it purrs!!!
My pleasure and I'm glad you got it figured out!
What’s a good water trap?
Really any do the job. No need for anything expensive if this is simply a hobby you're doing
Anyone else wishing the Ninja Jet came with a pressure gauge so they could know what pressure their air was set to? Maybe somebody has a link to an aftermarket pressure gauge that will fit on this compressor?
What compressor would you recommend for a beginner?
Any one that can hold a sustained 30psi will work. Usually they'll all say their operating psi ratings
@@Curioventura the ninja one has only 1-15😕
It works well, trust me. I've used one for ages. I just needed the higher pressure for different types of paints and effects I've experimented with
@@Curioventura do you think it’s enough for fabric airbrushing?
Yeah for sure
No part 2?
Unfortunately I've had zero time to make a part 2. I filmed some stuff but not enough
So maybe I should use the ninja then
Give it a shot. It works great
@@Curioventura good enough for rc racing bodies?
Itll be a bit tough for very large scale stuff but it'll work.
Subscribed!!! You’d be a moron, not to!!! Much love, people 👊🏼
Thanks man!
dude wtf where is part 2?
Itll eventually come out. Im just a one man show and super busy with my main job doing commission builds but part 2 will come out one day lol. Sorry for the really long delay lol
