Here we go again, welcome to my next 24 hour stealth camping adventure.
This time I decided to drive down to Erie, Pennsylvania and live and eat at a Cracker Barrel and Country Store for 24 hours.
We will be eating a crunchy Lunch, a Juicy dinner, then set up the Stealth Camper Minivan for a good nights rest.
In the morning we’ll order an Old Timers Breakfast go for a huge walk and end up eating one of my favourite sandwiches at Cracker Barrel.

I like their breakfast way better at Golden Corral. In Florida they are hit and miss, some real good, some horrible.
Come to italy,and we'll give you free buffet and free parking!
Grits are best savory, not sweet. Salt, pepper, butter, and crumbled up crispy bacon are about the best grits you can make, in my opinion. They're also good with a spoonful of corned beef hash in them.

Grits are good with cheese and shrimp.
What I really like is the 5 dollars take home and heat meals. The biscuits are the best. I really miss their summer campfire meals. I hope they bring the campfire meals back.
You can make the campfire meals at home. CB used Crazy Jane seasoning to season them. I cooked at CB for 15 years.
Just FYI, grits are a savory side in the American South. I often ask for cheese and herbs like thyme to be added (and often bring my own). No way would I add brown sugar or maple syrup!
Sweet grits is the only way I can eat them, never could stand savory grits.

I love grits with butter and black pepper, for breakfast with juicy eggs mixed in them. Along with bacon and toast.....Yum!
My favorite way to have grits is butter, salt , pepper, cheese and a splash of hot sauce. As someone else commented, in the Southern US grits are a savory dish. My absolute favorite way to have grits is shrimp and grits. A pretty popular southern dish.
Since you mentioned that you love Cracker Barrel's sourdough bread, I thought I'd let you know this. One of the bread choices, that they don't mention, is grilled sourdough bread! They also have outstanding blackberry jam and apple butter but you have to ask. The grilled sourdough is outstanding with breakfast.

I worked at CB years ago. Every table was set with cloth napkins, silverware, coffee mugs and bread plates before you even sat down. You were greeted with a basket of hot biscuits and cornbread and as many bread refills as you wanted.
@@sandradummer4726 I used to work there, yes, of course you can ask for anything you want. If it's breakfast jam is automatically served..at dinner or lunch, u have to ask.

We find Cracker Barrel “hit and miss” in food and service. Gambling! All depends on the location.
You can have 2 biscuits or 2 cornbread instead of one of each-just ask!Grits is hominy, corn, not cream of wheat! We Southerns love our Cracker Barrel’s-they originated here!
If two people are together just each person get cornbread one and the other get biscuits and then you can split it up with one of each
You are allowed to sleep at cracker barrel. You don't have to be stealth.

They didn't give you the gravy for your bisquits. I saw it right away cause it's my favorite.
They have RV spots and welcome overnighters.
Ken, don't know if you are aware, but there is a Cracker Barrel Restaurant in the Buffalo area. It would save you a lot of time and mileage. It's in Clarence NY on Transit Road. Probably 10 minutes from the Peace Bridge crossing. Also Grits are made from corn not wheat. So while the texture is similar, it's a totally different thing.
My wife and I miss the Reuben sandwich they use to have. One of the best’s.
Love your 24 hour series mate, watching from Australia. One thing i cannot get my head around is having the eggs not on toast. As an aussie, we always have our eggs on toast :) seriously the only way. Would love to see you do Jack In The Box also!

I worked at Cracker barrel...most people didn't order toast, bc you automatically get homemade biscuits
My mom and I used to visit Cracker Barrel often. I always bought the loaves of bread and Swedish fish at the counter. I always got the hash brown casserole, biscuits and a dessert. I always got leftovers.
I think they forgot your gravy with the biscuits at breakfast.

If a shop doesn't allow overnight parking I don't shop there. There are plenty that do.
Cracker Barrel is a really good place to eat and if needed the overnight rest is usually safe. But no bathroom after hours

I go to Crackel Barrel for one reason and that is the amazing chicken and Dumplings with corn, mashed potatoes and extra Dumplings...so good!!
Just fyi, grits are made with cornmeal. More like polenta than cream of wheat. Best with cheese.
Love Cracker-barrel. Great food at a fair price. Have spent a few nights sleeping in their lot. Loved it.
Grits is ground corn. My husband loves with butter and cheese. I love them with butter sugar and milk.
Love Cracker Barel! You don't need to stealth, you can overnight camp there. Noticed on the steak dinner they didn't charge you for the shrimp! I agree, not a fan of their chicken and dumplings. You should try their fried apples. So good.
I love Cracker Barrel. My only complaint is that they are always busy and I always have to stand in line. 😁
Grits are eaten with salt, pepper and butter for lunch and dinner. You either eat them the same for breakfast or you put on butter and brown sugar or maple syrup. They are kind of eaten like pancakes. For dinner you can put some gravy on them if you have some for your meat.
Lots of Cracker Barrel locations are along interstate highways. They are staple for American road trips.

Try strawberry jam or syrup on your biscuit. Great as a desert after meal
Also grits butter salt & pepper also good with cheese in it. Some like sugar in their grits too

Golden Corral is a really good buffet. Lunch is good and cheaper than super. Good Food at a fair price.

Hello Ken. I was just at Cracker Barrel here in Fort Wayne IN on last Friday. I had the fried turkey which is very good and a seasonal item at CB. That pie that you had looked so good too but with Type II Diabetes I can't eat that.
I have also been to Golden Corral several times over the years (going back to the late 1980's early 90's in Hinesville GA). Sadly, I think their food quality has gone down while the prices went up. I do enjoy their salad bar though. I look forward to viewing a Stealth Camp at Golden Corral in the future.

That steak looked so good! I will need to make a trip just for this and the cinnamon pie. I lived in Erie for over 10 years. I used to eat at this Cracker Barrel often. You should take a trip down to Presque Isle (in the summer though). There are walking trails all over the peninsula.
I grew up eating at golden corral, it's an all you can eat family place.
I enjoyed this video very much .All those meals looked delicious. I have to get back to Cracker Barrel soon.
The pancake taco's are VERY GOOD!! My teenage son and I split that plate and get the hashbrown tots as the side! It is plenty enough food for the both of us!! Good stuff!!

Love Cracker Barrel. Everything looked amazing but missing the Mayo and Bacon on that Chicken BLT had me frustrated lol. Glad it was still good tho!

I absolutely miss eating at a Cracker Barrel!! I have been there a few times. It was easier to get to when I lived in a city. Now I am in the middle of nowhere and we have nothing left here.
I am from Norway and we do not have Cracker Barrel , but when you buttered that biscuit and enjoyed that disc , I wish we had 🙂

My dad loved Golden Corral and before he passed away I remember going to one with him and my son in Tennessee. You need to check them out, some love and some do not love this place. I think it would be a good one for you to do.

You're right about the Cream of Wheat Ken. I had it all the time as a teenager with nutmeg, milk and a bit of jam. As a kid we had porridge (oats) with treacle and milk... being ex pats from England.

I personally think Cracker Barrel is over priced mediocre tasting cafeteria food and haven’t been to one in years.
Grits is mostly a southern US thing. I never heard of them growing up in western NY
And if you are trying to eliminate sugar or cut down on it then ketchup should definitely be off your list of foods it is full of sugar.
And I hope you have to eat at Golden Trough, err I mean Golden Corral. It will be interesting to see what you think of it.

Cracker Barrel is never a bad choice. The only thing I don’t care for is the saw mill gravy. I like coffee and I like gravy but the two together don’t thrill me.

Definitely Golden Corral we used to have one here in my town but unfortunately it closed down even hometown buffet closed down
Grits you can put butter or cheese in grits. They're not cream of wheat or porridge either, ok? Some people put gravey on grits as well, and I for got fish as well.

I have never heard of sawmill gravy until you mentioned it. I grew up in Alabama, South Carolina and Arkansas. My grandma and grandpa had a farm in Arkansas. She taught me how to make Country Milk Gravy with pork sausage. My mom liked it plain white without pork. It was the best when eaten with fresh biscuits.

I love cracker barrels fried chicken. It is one of the things that I recently discovered that they have and is mind-blowing good.

I love when they give the steak they way you asked it to be cooked. I love medium rare with grilled onions covering it. But a few times I got it over cooked. Thank You for describing what a grit tastes like never had them. I dont like cream of wheat .
