Aki , I am using this brake setup in my circuit car , for the last 5-6 years . We do up to 30 laps a race meeting. And I have had zero issues with it. I use good rotors , high temperature brake fluid and race pads .
really good "budget" brake set up, used this similar setup on 3 of my civics with ebc pads. always build from ground up, have the chassis be able to handle the power thrown at it! keep up the golden content!
Same as the prelude caliper as well. If your in the junkyard and see them. Just make sure it says 23t on the bracket. 2 piston calipers are 91-96 nsx or 94-95 legend gs caliper on the 23t bracket. You will need to grind the bracket some and run itr pads.
i've got the same setup, mini cooper 280 discs, pbs race pads and integra calipers with braided brake lines, also runing a prelude 1" master, did a few track days, never any brake fade, did get the brakes smelling a bit but they never lost any braking performance, instant grab, the whole setup was around 500 to 600 bucks, bare in mind i did get the calipers restored and powdercoated
dust shields are mainly more for splash shields. most people on road courses dont use them cuz it helps with cooling the rotor better. running some ducting to air the rotors from behind etc. Also with the bigger rotors comes bigger Master cylinder. a nice 1" bore MC will due those big brakes wonders. im sure yall already know that.
Aki, love your videos. Watching your videos took all the fear out of doing a manual conversion and motor swap on my prelude. Would have loved to k swap it but but I cannot weld. So I did a h23a1 auto to jdm h22a conversion in my garage with just a little help from my daughter. Keep up the great videos and thanks for what you do.
Love what you do! Keep that content Comming. The idea of breaking things down to shorter vids is a good sell. I would be more apt to watch a 20 minute section vs. An hour long vlog. Brother You're an asset to the community.
Great setup for the money, I have the Type R/ Mini Cooper setup in my CRX but with 90/91 Civic EX sedan front spindles, 1st gen CRV 97/01 front spindles and calipers are the same part number for the Acura Type R, Honda Odyssey have the same calipers but with different brackets and other cars have this calipers too it’s just the brackets that are different, there’s 2 different brackets one it’s 23T and the other is 25T and the difference between the two it’s rotors thickness 23T/23mm rotors and 25T/25mm rotors. There’s other combinations that can be used with this type of spindles but some need modifications or custom brackets but can’t go wrong with OEM setup, parts are easily accessible
I’m using the setup for years and many lapping/time attack days. you can only take the 23t bracket and use your red caliper. You really need to upgrade those brake pads, you will overheat them in a few lap and they wont last more than a day. Hawk dtc60 are perfect and cheap. They will last all season easy. ( in the rear you need to run oem or bot agressive pads because you will lock the wheel(i’m using hawk hp+) ) It’s better to use blank rotor because slotted or drill rotor cracks all the time. with the agressive brake pads it’s hard on them. I usualy change my rotor 2 time before i change my pad.
wats good aki from lancaster pa. love ur video . cant wait to see that ek done u guys doing amazin job i have my self a 2010 tsx and ae86 and ur videos help me alot love ur builds ...keep gunin💪
Aki thank you for putting all the videos into playlist. I’ve watch lefty,Kobe and I’m now on Manolo. Same chasis I have and everything’s got me hype to be able to finally do my build.
What a great explanation and hands on (pause) vlog. Definitely is gonna help out a few people going down the same path. Keep it up brothers #manolo is coming along perfectly
Great vlog ! I love the fact that you don't hide the mistake and even joke about it. It's a great brake setup. A friend has a similar one on his K20 EG coupe. His car has full interior (weights 2420 lbs give or take) and it works great on mountains roads and racetracks as well. In your case maybe the pads can mess up if they not dissipate enough heat. If it's the case and you have fading on track and you find the pads have glazed, you will know they are not good enough and you will need some better ones. The pads quality is very important. It's what give you the bite, brake feel and most of the endurance. With a good pads / discs combo and good brake fluid your setup can last long. Air vents can help a lot too. Like Trappy saids on track you will drive aggressively. To have less risks of overheat the brakes it's better to be hard on them and brake for a shorter period of time (threshold braking) rather than brake with less brake pressure for a longer period of time. Threshold braking is the fastest way to brake and it help to have better grip on the front axle in corner entry ass well. I hope it will help 🙂.
Oh no. Jim is commenting again. Anyhow back in my CCS Florida racing days (Superbike road racing) we purposely installed our Dunlop GP207 front tires on backwards because breaking stability was way better. More then half the feild did this. If your directonal front tires do happen to be on backwards it DOES NOT MATTER! They wont fail or come apart either way. No worries Aki.....
That’s a good idea trap, for your vlogs, about the before and after breaking test!! It’s different and I haven’t seen a UA-camr doing a quick test like that.
hey there, im in the process of making oem big brake swap with mini rotors. i got an integra typeR front calipper and im just wondering if integra typeR pads would work instead of TSX or whats seems to be the issue... thanks for any information :)
Thank you Sirs for the info very informative I do have a 4dr 95 ex and looking to do brake up grade, Question what about the rear just leave alone, what I mean is just change the calipers and rotors in rear? Thanks again keep Gunnin!!
Guys back in the day were running mini cooper s rotors with itr calipers. Afco makes some pretty cheap 4 piston calipers but you have to make custom brackets, they are pretty light too.
Boss Gunnin , Q&A if can't locate gsr dust shield what is another opion. I do have the 95 ex would the shield work with this setup? Thanks again for all of your inputs. Keep Gunnin.
5:44 i used to have a 98 Accord, freaking loved that car it was so good. Not the exciteable kind of VTEC but it was still a good car. My coworker used to tell me to just get Accord v6 knuckles for the back of mine so i could have four rotors and stuff but i just kept it drums and had fun the way the car was. And slapped the good ol' ebay H.I.D. 10k's and some Kenwood 6x9's. It was a good car
AKI you're a beast brother!!! much much love for putting us on. I read about this combo on hondatech but like you said it wasn't as clear as you made it!! It a gunners world!!!
1 inch brake master cylinder+brake booster from a ~2000 prelude is a direct bolt on. i had this exact set up and ep3 rear disc with stock cx prop valv and it worked perfect never locked the rears and had great pedal feel with lots of modulation and could lock up my 120 treadwear tires easily
I rather run booster delete as you have much better brake modulation. If you are going to run booster less, you want 7/8" MC as that's the correct size for the brake caliper pistons size.
Re-watching the earlier manolo vids to get even more hyped for the build. Also just got my winter EJ8 running right and hate the soft brake pedal feel I have now. If I’m gonna replace something anyway, I might as well make it better. It’s just the way to go.
Hello from Greece guys! The type R calipers are made for 282mm not for 280, but even with that in mind, you can use them with 280mm pads, but in your case the gap was way too much,. I think that this is not a Type R. Check if the Type R caliper has 14mm bolts to make sure that it's original type R. If the bolts are 12mm they are not.
Yo whats up bro im looking for a lil advice I just picked up a set of 15x6.5 plus 38mm offset wheels for my 2000 ek sedan with maxxspeedingrods coilovers factory front uppers and trueheart rear camber and fenders aren't rolled so what tire size would you recommend to keep from rubbing and
Am running 00 crv sprindles and bearings with 36mm machine 98 prelude 5 lug hubs and type r front calipers. But i have a 3mm spacer between the hub and bearing .
Love to see a circuit build 💪🏿 Depending on how serious you are, floating rotors would be really nice upgrade. Better heat dissipation and lower rotating mass
I watch every episode like its a t.v. show on the speed networks. But in all honesty you guys help motivate me everyday to recover from my injuries to get back to wrenching. Big ☝ to you guys from OKC. Much love bro. Keep it 🔫
Good shit 💪💪 on my 10th gen civic si I'm running nissan rogue rotors and genesis brembos. Cost me only 400. Everything bolted right up including the brake lines. No modifications whatsoever. 🔫🔫
Ok so I might have this also but I’m currently doing a kswap to my ek sedan along with this brake setup. It came with abs but I am doing a abs Delete and running the a em1 brake master cylinder will I need to change the brake booster (abs) and the brake master cylinder (em1) also?
Same set up I got on my DA integra. Rock auto about the same price maybe better product no sure, you can pick and choose between economy, good and best parts
Doing a ek Circuit build rite now i track race my rsx type s but thats my daily so thats why the ek is getting built .ebc yellow stuff pads after hot lapping had no brake fade .... Hope we can meet at the track 1 day been doing track and sprint racing a back mounting for 3 years so will be fun keep gunning brother
What’s good Aki, I been binge watching your content man, yall shoot out a lot of gems 4real bro 💯, I’m getting a 02 RSX this month and applying this shit 🔥🔥‼️keep gunnin big bro 🔫

Talking about mishimoto thermostat I bought one for my car and I get a little bit scared to try it on because I am kind of stuck engine my ?can u run a termo in a stuck engine my its 160 degrees but my car open with the one that it's on now on 203 degrees can u let me know if I should put it on or just wait went its get better performance parts to try it on . My Friends this is simple, you are the Drean Team, you are the Best in the Business. GOD BLESS YOU ALL
From Puerto Rico.
When you do this set up do you have to use a 40/40 valve or different master and booster?
@@gb361TX i saw in another video that you do have too
really good "budget" brake set up, used this similar setup on 3 of my civics with ebc pads. always build from ground up, have the chassis be able to handle the power thrown at it! keep up the golden content!
97-01 crv or ITR front calipers, 04-10 tsx or 99-03 TL brake pads, 07-11 280mm Cooper base front rotors. ✔️

Very nice. Been running this setup for almost 8 years. Got that 1320 spacer as well.
Glad someone else agrees with the 1320 spacers... they are a good bit of kit!
i've got the same setup, mini cooper 280 discs, pbs race pads and integra calipers with braided brake lines, also runing a prelude 1" master, did a few track days, never any brake fade, did get the brakes smelling a bit but they never lost any braking performance, instant grab, the whole setup was around 500 to 600 bucks, bare in mind i did get the calipers restored and powdercoated

most underrated channel!!! Keep gunnin
That Movie Is Legendary Trappy
Guitar Case 🔥🔥🔥
You can use genesis brembos with 350z rotors for 8th gens , theres different tricks u can do
how so ? is it any better than the TL BBK my turbo 8th gen has good stop power but we all want a faster safer stop
Finally Yonkers boiz!! YO all day!! On park ave with the 9th gen si. Gotta bring it to you guys for work.
Newb question. Can you run 15" wheels with these? Like LS meshy's?
OEM+ upgrades are the most satisfying.
Won’t lie love the info and everything ya doing.
So if I have the stock ex spindles etc on my ek hatch do I need to change the bearing? What was the thought behind the extended studs?
Keep gunnin (y) most humble dudes on UA-cam doing real shit ! Keep up good work , loving the videos

I did this exact upgrade on my turbo sedan, this is by far the easiest and most affordable brake upgrade with some steel braided lines
Great vlog ! I love the fact that you don't hide the mistake and even joke about it.

What brake booster, master cylinder and prop valve do you recommend with this set up?
our channel needed a brake upgrade video! you did a great job on this also! #KeepGunnin
Blown away by the detail for us viewers. Liked and subscribed
👋👋 Front Disks ATE 24.0125-0161.1 part number direct bolt on without any spacers 282mm. I drive those on my race EK K20
Can u use 96-00 ex or si spindles or do u have to use 92-95 ex/si or dc integra ones???

Aki I'm learning so much of your videos dat I'm building a single cam
Love the channel. Down here in Stuart Florida. I have a 94 Si hatch and need to start building.
Is there a complimentary setup for the rear to match this setup?
Lol trappy at the end y’all dem boys that was funny 🤣🤣🤣
That brake upgrade is crazy💯🔥, like a functional masterpiece that fits together like legos👌🔫🌎❤
Am running 00 crv sprindles and bearings with 36mm machine 98 prelude 5 lug hubs and type r front calipers. But i have a 3mm spacer between the hub and bearing .
I'm pretty sure the 96 to 2000 ex or si spindles can also do this as well. They have the 10.4 mm rotors compared to the dx or lx 9.5 mm.
Keep it 🔫
The best brake upgrade. Also look into the rear rsx brake upgrade.
He doesn't need that. No weight in the rear. These cars do not benefit from rear upgrades.
Good shit 💪💪 on my 10th gen civic si I'm running nissan rogue rotors and genesis brembos. Cost me only 400. Everything bolted right up including the brake lines. No modifications whatsoever. 🔫🔫
I run 225 rt660's all around on 15x7.5 +35 dekagrams. No rubbing issues, slight rubbing at full lock in the front.
i just bought this kit man i have a 1999 civic dx hatchback.please tell me my spindles will work?i did have to get centric rings
I must have missed it, but can you still run a 15" wheel with this brake setup?
Yes. Some. Rpf1 won't clear. Slipstream required a 5mm spacer. Most OEM wheels clear fine too
Ok so I might have this also but I’m currently doing a kswap to my ek sedan along with this brake setup. It came with abs but I am doing a abs Delete and running the a em1 brake master cylinder will I need to change the brake booster (abs) and the brake master cylinder (em1) also?
Whats the knuckle spindle/hub from?? What vehicle and year?
You guys are badass and funny af 😂😂 thanks bro for the information you saved us hella money i cant wait to do this swap on my eg coupe
Sorry this could be dumb question but can you use this setup in eg hatch or coupe ?
I ran that setup on my DA and it was no a joke. You have to use the 40/40 prop valve and a 93 Integra master and your Golden!!!
Yo aki i know you said 2000 crv calipers but when i go to order it from the parts store they say 97-01 are the same. Does the year have to be exact??
Keep pushing forward
Hi guys I was curious want caliper bracket hardware did you guys use? Tsx? Or crv?
Thanks 🔫
2006 mini s 293mil rotor and 05 Acura TL caliper and pads work I have that in my eg8 civic
Keep them videos coming. Cali love✌
Same set up I got on my DA integra. Rock auto about the same price maybe better product no sure, you can pick and choose between economy, good and best parts

Will these brakes fit 00 civic si with a b series? or is this only with the larger hubs etc. Hope for a reply!
What’s good Aki, I been binge watching your content man, yall shoot out a lot of gems 4real bro 💯, I’m getting a 02 RSX this month and applying this shit 🔥🔥‼️keep gunnin big bro 🔫
Commentary was A1 😂 good work boys!
YOU GUYS ROCK THE HOUSE OLD SCHOOL !
PAUSE !
I LOVE WATCHING WHAT YOU DO, FANTASTIC CONTENT !!!
Great video, thanks for your reach, gems and doing the hands on trial and tribulation.
Nissan gunner in the cut, write it down ✍🏽 💯🇨🇦
What spindles did you hedor the 2000 crib calipers to work ?
Bruhhhhh I learn so much from you 🙏not just cars either
I really appreciate you doing these videos man. I’ve been on the ep3/rsx platform for years so the eg/ek/dc chassis is kind of foreign to me. I just picked up a 95 sedan, Videos like these help me out!!!

People been running this setup for a long time. I think sometimes people have fitment issues with specific wheels but other than that. This setup is tried and tested.
Thank 4 the videos learning alot 🙏🏼
So what size master cylinder are you using with this upgrade?
Mini cooper S rotor are slightly bigger than base cooper rotors. The itr calipers need the S rotors. I believe they are 294mm over 280 ish.
No, the 294mm will not work with ITR caliper.
What dust shield did you use? Awesome channel by the way!
Keep the work up fam 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Bless up brotha Aki & Trap🙏🏽🤙🏽
What about the rear ? I had ep3 4lug rear rotors and Rsx type s rear calipers side swapped .. worked like integra type r brakes .. I also did the 1 inch brake master ..
