    Throughout the history of the Jurassic Park franchise, several unique and impressive vehicles and equipment have been used by both the protagonists and antagonists of the series. One of the more noteworthy
    entries on that list, is the High Hide that was designed by Eddie Carr in The Lost World: Jurassic Park film, and also Jack Thorne in Michael Crichton's novel version. Unlike the first Jurassic Park movie,
    The Lost World is well known to have deviated heavily from its source material. For better or worse in some cases. But in my opinion, one of the most exciting scenes from the book that happened to get
    left out of the film, involved this observation mechanism that was used by Malcolm's team....and its unfortunate encounter with Site B's Velociraptors....
    In this JP Discussion we go over How Raptors Destroyed the High Hide which is more of a video on The Lost World Raptors from Michael Crichton's The Lost World Book than it is a Jurassic Park World Theory about the Raptors High Hide from Jurassic Park 2 alright? Now with little to no New Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom News recently, I figured going over less Jurassic World 2 Theories and more stuff on The Lost World and The High Hide would be fun. Because you know its a High Hide, you go up and you hide....high! But The Lost World Raptors don't seem to care! With Jurassic Park The Lost World being the improper way to say the title one clever girl raptor will eat you if you disrespect it like that and the big one raptor will eat you as well. Jurassic Park 2 does sound really cool though...ah yes! This description will suffice! Run on sentences are an amazing thing! :D

      When Howard King made the foolish decision to run from a pack of raptors in an open field, resulting in his demise, one of the raptors found a spare candy bar on him and seemed to enjoy it. Maybe it was this same raptor, who now knows the scent of candy and whay it's associated with, who picked up on the stray candy wrapper.

    The raptors’ role in the movie was drastically cut compared to the book. It would be interesting to see that scene in the film. We did get a cool scene with the raptors in the long grass and the communication building, so we did get something.
    Also, poor Eddie got a brutal death in the book and the movie. Though he went out trying to save his friends in both.

    I’ve been listening to both books on Audible the past couple of weeks and it’s funny now that I’m older (I was 12 when I read them, 26 now) how much more details there are than I remember and how certain moments were reused somewhere in the movies. Like Udesky’s death in the 3rd movies was very similar to Howard King’s death in the 2nd novel.
    But I have a question, in the first novel I believe it was Grant that said for every 1 predator you need 400 prey for an ecosystem to be balanced. And in the 2nd novel, Sarah said you need 1 for every 250, which leads to speculation as to how there’s 10+ raptors and Rexs as well as other carnivores but only a few hundred prey. Do you think they’ll elaborate on this in Fallen Kingdom or will Hollywood just assume we don’t think of this stuff?
    As I’ve said before, great stuff you do. Keep it up. It’s really good.

    Because ‘upsettingly’ there’s no new source material, I am With you I hope they utilise what they have and missed between Jurassic Park and lost world novel. There are so many amazing scenes worth a turn that would pay homage to Michael Crichton while blowing our minds. The carnotaurus scene from l/w, the scene from jp with Muldoon trying to bring the Rex down, ok it won’t be Muldoon but you know what mean. The high hide scene, maybe an adapted scene at the mansion, or the geeky kid is Arby’s character on the island and it’s double jeopardy as they have a race to beat the volcano and a race to find and get him. Raptor nest under the volcanic earth..... man man man man man he excited me because it was a new
    Entry and that’s all it needed to be. This one there are so many possibilities
    I’m absolutely buzzing

    • @KlaytonFioriti
      @KlaytonFioriti  6 років тому

      Totally agree! They could really use all of these other scenes!

      The only thing that’s going to annoy me
      Is the rating. Now I don’t want an r rating and I know that it’s geared to all to maximise money and sales but.... I always feel that one of the films should be a 15

    • @KlaytonFioriti
      @KlaytonFioriti  6 років тому

      Oh I don't think that they will ever let it get to an R lol but I do think that you make a solid point

    • @kilted_commenter9565
      @kilted_commenter9565 6 років тому

      You’ve covered it before on previous videos that an r would be too much, the scene in Jurassic Park with Muldoon and the big one wouldn’t be half as good rated r. But ye I think one film
      Should be a lot scarier and a 15 rating would make it all the better.

  • @TheWriterEJYanez

    I loved this scene so freaking much! I grew up watching the movies so, while I love them, when I read the book for the first time I was extremely upset that a number of the scenes didn't make it to the movies. (this being one of them, with Doc Thorne as my favorite side character from the books. Another being Dodgson's sound cube. And from the first book, the scene were Grant tricks the raptors into eating the poisoned egg. XD) In any case, I was very excited to hear that the director for Fallen Kingdom was taking cues from the books. Hoping some more of these scenes make it in there, even if they're different characters.

    How did the High Hide even work though? The platform was suspended right? But it was suspended above the jungle canopy, because remember you can see the Rex moving through the trees at one point. So if they're above the canopy, what is the High Hide hanging from? There's no larger trees around them, because that's fairly clear in the movie. Did Eddie set up a large structure by himself that was strong enough to support it? Even then, you can't see it. Seriously! How did this thing work???

    • @KlaytonFioriti
      @KlaytonFioriti  6 років тому +6

      lol it was secured on a scaffolding that gets unhooked once its done being hoisted up by the winch. Its never explained in the movie but its gone over in a few JP sites on the web :D

    • @alecmcgrathofcanada9175

    • @asianafghan131
      @asianafghan131 2 роки тому +1

      From what I remember from the book (just finished, awesome read) the High Hide was was setup by scaffolding that Thorne and Eddie engineered, it wasn’t all that difficult to setup from what I remember. They set up the High Hide so it would be downwind (there scent wouldn’t be blown in the direction of predators or any other dinosaurs) and they also concealed the scaffolding with ferns (I think) that had a strong scent that also assisted in masking there presence. One of the other reasons why they concealed the scaffolding with the ferns was to hide the shiny appearance the scaffolding had. Thats all about I remember as to how the High Hide was setup.
