Outstanding use of a fabulously versatile, orchestral, and wonderful pipe organ. Too often music of this style on non-theatre organs tend to sound stuffy, uninspired, or just so-so. Richard's genius coupled with this magnificent instrument stands out as the epitome of the approach needed and should be part of a master class in organ study!
I think this broadcast shows Richard at his finest. I have heard him on theatre organ for years, but I much prefer this to any of his theatre organ output (not that I haven't enjoyed that) but I feel the resources of the RAH Organ help to bring out the very best in him.
@Richard Harrold boy doesn't that sneaky comment pack a punch telling a story!! Why on earth does that state of affairs happen? Talk about mean spirit on the part of organisers!!!
Ever since hearing Barbara Dennerlein play blues and jazz on a 120+ rank E.M. Skinner several years back in Chicago, I'm really liking theater organ & light music programs more and more on large symphonic/romantic instruments.
I was on the top deck at this one, well worth attending! Probably my clap at the end of the 2nd piece with the brilliant chords. . . . . Tiger vs Toccata clever and excellent! Nice to hear this concert again.

The Children's Overture was a masterclass of registration. Awesome performance on an awesome instrument.
Outstanding and greetings from Mexico
Bravo Richard!
I especially like the Tiger Rag arrangement. I wish there was a video version of it just to watch the audenience reactions.
Richard Hills straddles the different genres better than almost anyone else I have heard. He is the organist equivalent of the John Wilson Orchestra.

Tiger RAG. Man, come on - awesome, awesome, awesome.
Chapeau.

Wonderful!
The RAH Organ must have needed a few Silk Cuts, a night's rest, and proper English Breakfast after the nice workout Mr. Hills delivered.
Great

Nice improvisation ! Unfortunatly we do'nt see the organist playing ...
Would have been fun to see the player! Why can't we?
Because this was a broascast on national radio.
🎶
Should have made a video of him playing this, not just a bunch of photos.
YOU PAY FOR IT and don't be such a whinger! :(
