great vid do you know what plates they use i needed a tripod but would like something that can switch from this gimbal to a tripod,. is it arca swiss of Manfrotto so lost
You most certainly can with a vertical mounting plate. I would be mindful of the motors being strained with the extra weight from the 24-70. Be sure to balance it well and keep an eye on the motor icon on the gimbal screen. this will start going orange/red to indicate the motors struggling.
Great video! One of the big reasons I’ve heard people go with the RS3 Pro is because it supports the LiDAR accessory without having to Mount extra batteries to the gimbal
How can you have a review about a gimbal and not touch on the difficulty, and pain in the arse, of setting it up and balancing it? Perhaps the single most important aspect about using a gimbal!
@FightCollective thanks for the feedback although I didn’t ever state this video was a review. Just my opinion as to if the gimbal is still worth it in 2023. All gimbals can be a pain to balance. luckily there are thousands of tutorials on here for that.
I like mine too, but this week I bought an accessory that connect to the side nano, BUT the non pro dont have the 8 pins connector, I had to return the grip.
@@DavieLangham There's no contact on the nanos on the non pro to control accessories. So I kept the 2 external handles and if I want to use the joystick I have to put one hand in the middle, doesn't go smooth but ok.
So your set up seems to be around 1.5kg and The rs3 can handle up to 3kg. You would get away with it. But bare in mind the long zoom barrel on the 70-200. This would ad more strain on the motors, reducing the power and possible performance if balanced incorrectly. Of course the rs3 pro would handle this no problem. Hope that helps. 👊🏼
If it was me I’d stick with the RS3. Un less you plan on adding more weight and wanting to utilise the LiDAR with the pro. Do as much research as possible for sure. Keep me posted man. 👍🏼
can’t get ie to balance its my first gimbal ever i followed a few videos o how to set up yet somehow it gives me a red color and it shuts down the motors it’s annoying af
Hey. It really depends on your set up. If your running a mirrorless set up up, then the RS3 has you covered. Anything heavier like a canon C70 or larger lenses, then it’s the RS3 pro. Also with the pro you have a better battery life but in my opinion, the RS3 keeps me going for at least 8 hours shooting at an event. Add up your camera and heaviest lens and see if the RS3 can handle that payload. If so then the RS3 is the one for you. 👊🏼
@@DavieLangham thank you so much for the reply!! I ended up getting the RS3 Mini, my canon r6 with either the 35mm or 50mm balances on point, although it couldn’t handle my 70-200mm 🤣
Hey my friend... do you know how to use the wheel to pull focus? ( with the bluetooth paired with the Sony a7S III), because I only can use it for zoom
Hey man. So just use it the same as you would for zoom but attach it to the focus ring instead. Also if stabilised, use the A and B point feature on the DJI app.
I got the RS3 and holy smokes, it's beefing up my videos for cars and motorcycles. The RS3 PRO would be pretty cool but for me, the RS3 is just what I wanted to get my stuff done based on the cameras I intend having and also using. Peace, am out.
Believe it or not, yes it can hold the ax700. I have seen some other videos on this and you will have a couple of clearance and balance issues, but there are ways in which people have solved this. Be sure to check out other videos before. 👍🏼
A Lidar Setup app would be very nice to setup, calibate, store lens profile and troubleshoot. The current method of using the postage size screen on the gimbal leaves a lot be desired.
Great, great video!!! I wish I would have seen your video before I FINALLY purchased my RS3. I am just finishing up my unboxing video. Once that is done, then I will move onto getting to actually set it up and test it out. I had been using the DJI OSMO 3 mobile just to see if I wanted to drop the extra coin to get a DSLR gimbal. Thanks again!!!
Appreciate the comment mate. I’m sure you’ve made the right choice. Thats awesome, link your unboxing video once it’s up. I’ll look forward to watching it mate. 👊🏼
I said there are 3 but as DJI stated on their site, all three working in unison provide a “fourth” to reduce micro jitters and adjustments. Please do some research before posting negative comments. 👍🏼
Part of me wishes I would've picked up the RS3 pro but I couldn't justify 2x the price for the lidar feature. Most of the time, I'm pulling focus myself so I guess its not a big deal. With cameras only getting better auto focus, I'd imagine lidar might date over time
@@dreamremoved8886 As in I don't need Lidar since Autofocus is getting significantly better. My current camera does not support Auto focus but I plan on switching over a FX3
I was gonna go with the RS3 mini but figured I might as well future proof myself a little bit and spend the extra $200 and going with the regular RS3. I really thought about getting the pro but I too also only use mirrorless camera set ups. So I really have no need for the Pro. The regular RS3 is the perfect Goldilocks gimbal. Not too big and expensive, not too small and cheap. Juuuuust right loo
As I say in my conclusion, It’s definitely worth buying in 2023. But if you think it’s not for you than of course there plenty of alternatives. Really depends on your setup. 👍🏼
great vid do you know what plates they use i needed a tripod but would like something that can switch from this gimbal to a tripod,. is it arca swiss of Manfrotto so lost
Thanks. On their site it’s states “Quick-Release Plate (Arca-Swiss/Manfrotto). It comes in two parts so can be used for both. Hope that helps.
Does anybody know if the rsc2 focus motor will work with the rs3 ? Thanks!

The case is useless and a stupid design. Its just a temporary measure. Any serious videographer will end up buying a decent Pelican case anyway.
