I USED TO SNIP THE SPINE OFF THE WEAVER FISH AND USE THEM FOR BAIT, BASS LOVE THEM TOO !

Those jelly things are jelly fish and at night they glow bright green in the surf, really amazed me the first time i saw them.
Graeme, fot the past year I ve been fishing at Barmouth in West Wales. The estuary is full of bass and the locals all seem to catch easily using live sandeels. i cant catch bugger all because I only have frozen. How do I catch sandeels from the shore?

That is absolutely correct.These guys are a species of comb jelly, not quite a jellyfish but looks like it and generally can't sting except for a few rare exceptions which use the stinging cells of jellyfish for themselves!

that jelly at the end is actually the eggs from a cactus fish the female will lay up to 150 a day. She will always try to lay them close to the sand eels because the sand eels produce more fructose and it helps the eggs grow. also all of this is all bs I have no idea what I'm talking about
I think the jelly things are eggs I was in france last week and they were all over the beach we were told by the locals that they were eggs but I cant be sure because they were french

correctomundo....Comb Jellies....if you walk along the beaches in the west / south west areas of Brittany, you may even see the guys who net fish, actually laying them out to dry above high water marks so they dont get back in the sea...
I live in Ploermel which is about 45mins-1hr from the main marine beaches there and when we go over there whilst looking for oysters / mussels etc, & to fish from the beaches there, this is a regular thing you would see...
French working boat skippers do this when their nets get full of these little blighters, as the jellies clog everything up...even the pumps to wash off the crap from the pots & nets...

not really the treatment is a bowl of hot water. I would like a barrel of live sand eels tho :)
How did he make a mistake? Weaver fish are venomous but not poisonous, they are often used in the french dish bouillabaisse. Same with snakes, some can be venomous but are not poisonous to eat.
OK, no problem, I get what you meant now :) It's Graeme's fault, he's a trouble maker, you can tell just by looking at him.
do the boards not destroy the sea bottom?
Wouldn't destroy sand. They plane through the water keeping the mouth of the net open and are off the seabed in any case. I was an apprentice Captain on deep sea trawlers when I left school and what does mess the bottom up is the weights they put on larger nets. These rumble across the sea bed to keep the bottom of the net down while floats are on the top part of the net. This makes the net gape.

The responsible ones do care, they want sustainable fishing and ability to make a lifelong living and then hand their boats & business on to sons or family for same. The problem is not so much in the North Sea, where I was, but around coral reefs which have been destroyed. Some use poisons and even explosives to fish. Jamaica is a prime example, most of it's coral is destroyed or dead now because coral is a living organism and takes hundreds of years to build up. Some nations have no respect for size of fish either so young that have not had chance to breed are taken, they fish the area out then move on and do the same.
The scallop dredgers are as bad, you want dive a piece of sea bed after they have been along THERE IS NOTHING LEFT, it is barren of all life, that's why anyone with any morals will pay the extra and only buy hand dived scallops

13:00: Those are Ctenophorans, filter-feeding zooids (animals made up of colonies of smaller animals) which are fairly common around the world. Very primitive creatures, not even true jellyfish.
Do dead sandeels work as well as live ones?
Both do the same job. Live bait better fresh. I have worked with dead sand eels with a spinning rod that works well get mackerel and bass interested. Pier fishing use both you may get a good fish even winter codling or Cod are interested in them dead or alive

As at 11th May 2019... 12 downvotes... is it any coincidence that condoms come in 12pks... maybe at sometime in the past someone didn't buy their condoms with their weekly shop of turnip-flavoured donuts.... now that the eggs have hatched and the amoebae been taken away by Social Services and given internet access, the simple organisms have confused the touch screens of mobile devices with real windows, and random licking thereof has resulted in the aforementioned downvotes.
