- Again a strange behaviour of the EEVBlog 121GW (capacitance mode).
121GW firmware version in this video: V1.57
Capacitor-Test Video: • A Reference Capacitor Set - Наука та технологія
I've Metex 4630. Looks very similar
The DMM needs to know its temperature to perform cold-junction compensation.
yeah. You are of course right. Some of the modern ICs for thermocouple-amplification have the temperature sensor build in the IC.
Yeah, I wonder if firmware 2.0 fixed the issue. If not, keep on trying future firmwares 2.1, then 2.2, theeen 2.3 and so on in that fashion until they release this same meter with bugs sorted out under the label 232GW.
I found your channel when I watch your excellent review of the Aneng AN8009. But you are not using it in your tests. Please, what is the best and cheaper multimeter for Arduino and low power electronic projects? Thank you so much.
This video series is not about pointing out to specific multimeters but to general considerations to find the best multimeter for your need. Still the Aneng AN8009 is recommended for a "small" multimeter and the EEVBlog GW121 is the best one for under $200 (in my view)
@@KainkaLabs Thank you so much.
Have you had any experience with the Voltcraft VC890 (the one with the OLED display)? If so, do you think it would fit the description of a "Better multimeter"?
No. This video-series is about general things to consider when upgrading your multimeter. It´s not about recommending any brands oder models. (Although the EEVBlog 121GW is *the* best one in the 200$/€ range :-)
@@KainkaLabs I see. Thanks for the reply!
@@KainkaLabs Have they fixed that capacitance measurement bug in latest firmware update?
I'd dearly like to own a 121GW DMM but I simply cannot justify the expenditure. :-((
Despite all the problems 121GW owners are complaining about? Take a look at OWON B41T+ it's poorman's 121GW and it works!
Tech29, I got one for $51 shipped a couple of months ago! Best piece of gear I’ve ever gotten for that price range.
I rarely use other meters now unless my B41T+ is also in use. Check out joe smith’s tests of the B41T+ for more detail on its specs and safety. It kicks the crap out of the 121GW in tons of categories (not safety, obviously)
@@tech29X Thanks for the tip-off, I'll look into it.
