    I have to say, I’ve been taught so many ways of doing binding, and I can never get that “A” they say to do at the end. So I always just machine stitch my binding. Till I found this video. Folding the end first then nesting is so much easier than the other way, and I did my first binding by hand after 5 years of learning how to quilt. I actually enjoy binding now. Thank you so much for this

    Thank you so much , just what I was looking for. I made one that turned out really cute. My twist on the pattern was to sew the bottom and the top of the pockets to form a tube. Then I pressed it so the lining would show about an 1 1/2 on top to look like it was binding. I don’t know how to send you a picture or I would. Thanks again, I like everything you do.

    I love this and the Fabrics are gorgeous but how what I put a stiff backing on both sides so it would stand up on its own in the display you have it over some small hand cart to hold it up but it would be neat if you could stand it up like a teepee how would you add a pocket to the back and what would you insert to make it stiff

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  8 років тому +1

      +Ruth Freeman you may be able to use stiff interfacing to make it stand but with supplies added, it probably wouldn't hold up. I think you would need something under it no matter what to make it upright. Adding a pocket to the back would be done the exact same way as adding a pocket to the front. Thank you for watching!

    thinking if you don't want to do binding on the finished portion you could add another layer of fabric same size and leave a spot to turn and then top stitch.

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  6 років тому +1

      You could absolutely do that but you will lose a bit of your area in the seam allowance as well as have quite a bit of bulk at the edges. If you don't mind those things, it is a great technique :)

    Since I get my fabric by the yard, how many yards of each fabric you use in this video for each thing should I buy?

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  8 років тому

      If you only buy in full yards, then a yard of each fabric will be plenty!
      If you buy half yards you will buy:
      A yard of the main body fabric
      1/2 yard of all other fabrics (pockets, trim & binding)

      +Rachelle Trump There's a company online somewhere that either builds them and then paints them in a custom color for you, or you send them in and they color them. I've been to the site before but I cannot find it again. You can also find the custom painted featherweights on eBay. EDIT: featherweightsincolor.com is one of the places.

      Brenda Allen at approx 4 min 50 seconds Jennifer says to trim down to 14 × 24.5 inches. We then work on the pockets which are back to 14.5 inches. She never seems to say anything about trimming the pockets down...
