    H, thank you for so generously giving this free pattern. I have made it using your clear and concise instructions and it's fabulous! So I took your pattern and enlarged it to 150% to give me an evening bag that I can put my mobile phone in along with my lipstick and cruise card ready for my next holiday. I wish I knew how to attach a photo, I'm so pleased with the results. Thank you nice again.

    I love this little pouch. I added a charm to the front. I have also increased it in size so that it is the perfect cross-body sized bag. I also added a long strap for the cross-body size. I used Tula Pink fabric and made the set as a gift for the daughter of my husband's co-worker. She is 13 and they live in Germany. They've become such good friends and this young girl wrote to say thank you and that her friends are all jealous. Looks like I'll be making some more sets. Thanks for sharing the pattern. I'll be happy to share back my bag pattern. Happy Sewing and Quilting.

    Thank you for this awesome tutorial! I can not wait to make these for gifts!! I have learned so much from watching you! Always exciting when you post a new video ...it always makes my day! My husband hears your videos alot in the background as I replay them as I sew and always comments that he can tell your training as a pilot with your attention to detail and your concise way of explaining and speaking...he is a retired radar ATC from BDL with 35 years and now a private contractor for Midwest at Brainard. Also love your catalog!! Thanks for everything!🌷

    Thank you first for all your great instructions and your great patterns. I am not sure how anyone could not like this or have any problems with this, because you are sharing and for FREE. It takes time to get ready to film, preparing the area to film, you getting ready to be on camera, and all the materials it takes and time for the different stages of the project. There are still many of us still that really appreciate, really like and enjoy watching you share your creative gift, without expecting more. Please keep sharing for us. Thanks PS- I think before someone should ask for something extra, first they ought to purchase their materials from you!

    Jennifer, I made this little bag and love it, but I needed something a little larger for a wedding reception, so I got some scrapes of black sequence and a solid black to back it and enlarged the pattern by 1 1/2" and it worked really well. Got a crystal button and sewed it over the snap on the outer fabric. Love it! How much bigger could one go to make an even larger bag? Love this pattern. Thanks Suzee

    Such a cute pouch and easy to follow directions. My only complaint is the snap. It was not strong enough to keep snapped when you have just a few items inside. I had to sew on Velcro instead to keep the flap down. I'm glad I tested it out prior to giving as a gift. I also fabric glued on a button instead of the rose flower since I didn't have the ric rac lace.

    I love all your vids but I sometimes feel lost as a beginner when you go thru the steps. I have no idea how to cut or “pin” a pattern that gets printed out. I think this bag is adorable...I’m eagerly learning from your vids. Thank you!

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  4 роки тому

      Thank you for watching and for letting us know! When you print out a free download, you'll sometimes need to pin that paper to your fabric. You'd just use whatever sewing pins you have to do that. Pin it so it's flat and maintains its proper shape. This is just so it doesn't move while you're cutting or drawing lines. - Morgan

    I really enjoy your videos and helpful hints. This pouch is so cute and works up in a jiffy. I actually wrote the directions on the pattern pieces so I don't have to be in front of the computer all the time. A couple of questions: How did you attach the rose to the pouch and what Model Singer machine are you using. I've been looking for a small version like you are using. Thanks again for all the great videos.

    Thanks for the share and the care you have and put in every step of your tutorials.
    I've 2 questions.
    1 - Can we do it with faux leather and cork? I would Like to try cork because we have a lot here in Portugal
    2 - For look like a "red carpet" clutch (Yes I know and made yours bow clutch, in black velvet fabric!), what size do you recomend?
    Keep doing the Amazing work.

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  7 років тому +1

      Thanks for watching!
      1.) If you are comfortable working with those materials there is no reason they wouldn't work. The only issue we see with cork is that it would be difficult when turning your fabrics through a small hole.
      2.) The size of a clutch would really be up to you! This would be small and darling to make in a black velvet!

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  7 років тому

      That depends on the size your printer can print. The template is set up to print on standard printer paper but if you printer has settings where it can print a shape out on multiple pieces and be taped together or takes larger paper, you can absolutely do that!

    adorble! when you ironed the lightweight interfacing to the rectangles, which method did/do you use?...iron it to a bigger sized rectangle then cut it down to size or...cut the interfacing the exact same size as the rectangle and iron it on that way? another question please Jennifer, did/do you iron the pattern pieces to the fleece with the fabric up and the fleece under it then iron is on the fabric? ...or vice versa with iron on the fleece facing up? i know most people in tutorials say according to manufacturer's instructions, but some things i prefer to hear from an illustrator or ...even better, would you do a video illustrating about iron-on interfacings, fleeces, etc.? I would like that from your presentation style which is relaxed and i like. thanks for your videos! hugs to you!

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  7 років тому

      Great questions!
      -You can see in this video from 3:10 to 3:30 she explains that you will cut your fusible fleece a quarter inch smaller than your outer piece.
      -For a general reference, though, we like to cut our fusible interfacing to size or smaller (like in this video, to reduce bulk). We almost never cut fusible things larger than the fabric pieces because then you risk getting glue on your iron or ironing surface. You can always cut regular (non-fusible) batting or interfacing larger and cut it down to size after sewing/quilting since you wont risk glue getting everywhere.
      -As for ironing, it really is up to you! Especially if you cut your fusible pieces to match the size of your fabric since there is no risk of glue spilling no matter which way you iron. Sometimes the manufacturers instructions are specific, but when they're not, we usually iron on the fabric side with the fleece facing up just because that gives us a nice, predictable cotton to iron directly on.
      Please let me know if you need any further clarification or have any other questions I am happy to help!

    Jennifer, I did not see this question.. so... How do you attach the rick rack flower? I have all the materials needed but not sure how or when to attach the flower. • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  7 років тому

      We don't have a nifty shortcut- we just used a few small stitches after the pouch was complete and hand stitched it on! You can also hot glue it if you aren't going to heavily use the pouch :)

    Hi! New to sewing. I found your videos to be very informative. I love them! I was hoping you could tell me what a friction pen that you are using is? All I found at my local craft store is a marker with a lid or chalk. The marker has to be washed away and the chalk just doesn't give the precise lines I see you draw. Thanks again!

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  6 років тому

      FriXion pens are ballpoint pens that write just like a normal pen. The line disappears when heat from an iron is applied! Sometimes they can leave a light haze on the fabric so we only use them where the lines will be covered with stitching or hidden within a seam allowance! Please let us know if you have any additional questions at all! You can see our selection of FriXion pens here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Marking-Pens-C4179.aspx

    When doing the quilting look, do you stitch all the way to the end? Over the outside seam? There are alot of threads hanging, do you just trim them close....seems like the stitch starts to come out when you trim them, thanks....yes I am a beginner :-)

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  7 років тому +1

      We do stitch all the way to the edge and then trim. The ends of the threads will be encased within the seam allowance when you finish the bag so they won't unravel :)

    • @jbd9507
      @jbd9507 7 років тому +1

      It appears in the video that the quilting is done after the cover is made and turned right side out. If that is the sequence it would have raw seam trims all around the pouch. How else would you quilt the cover and have the ends of the quilt lines encased in the cover?
      Thank you it's a very adorable little bag and I love your fabrics.

    Hi there - can you advise me regarding the instructions for the downloaded Accordion Pouch. I live in the UK so our paper is 'A4' 8.27 × 11.69 inches whereas in America your "letter' paper size is 8.5 x 11.0 inches. When I print the pattern on my printer it will automatically reduce it to fit 8.27 × 11.69 inches. Can you tell me what the actual dimensions of the pattern picture is? Sorry if I am confusing the matter. Many thanks and kind regards, Maxine

    You can also use rivets to create the folds. Just apply them on where you sandwich the divider and the front pocket. If you are new to rivets, make sure to practice on scrap fabric before you go, because you have to punch holes on the pouch and once the holes are created, they are not recoverable. When you practice it is a good idea to get the same layers you have on the pouch, which are 6 layers of fabric+one layer of felt/batting+one layer of light weight interfacing, so you would know if your rivet could grab everything. It looks difficult but it's really not that bad, after you practice once or twice. If you do it right the result is quite professional looking. I actually prefer rivets because I can never sew through so many layers with one clean straight line.

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  7 років тому

      You are so right- practicing first is the way to go! Rivets are such a great idea for this project. Thank you so much for sharing that useful tip with us!!

      So sorry there have been some troubles printing it out. The pattern piece should measure 5"x8" when printed out. There is a chance your printer isn't printing the page at 100%. Some printers have a setting "Fit To Page" you will want to be sure that box is not checked. Hopefully that helps! If not, you can absolutely draw a rectangle that measures 5x8 :)
