Ha Ha, I just remember seeing the 8mm tee handle in my
Dad's tool box the other day!

Well Larry that's two in one day for me ! A bonus, thanks for sharing. You mentioned that your bus was " rusty " I beg to differ. You wipe the underside of your bus with a damp cloth & I'll eat my dinner off it !

Glad it was helpful! It wasn't as dirty inside the tube as I thought it would be. Whenever I have the transmission out I always pull the shift rod and take a look.🤙 Thanks for watching!

There is three and a coupler, Two on the Long shaft (Look like a little Badmitten shuddlecocks Birdies and one up front shaft by the shifter. If your bus is 1966 and newer there is two up front by the shifter. The coupler attaches to the transmission and the long shifter rod in the rear.

Man, new tranny, new shift rod, bushings, bet it shifts great now! How's the conducted drivetrain noise up to the cab? Mine was bad (has nothing to do with driving a 65 year old trans, right?!) I tried some of those orange urethane connectors at each end and it seems to help...all them gears in the crashbox and RGB's, so never gonna be totally quiet, tho...oh well, still runnin like a champ!✌️😊

Hey Tim, It was pretty tight for that first outing I went on, then it loosened up. You have that non synchro gearbox so first is gear is loud. The life of driving a tin box!😁😉🚐

Welcome aboard! It’s a copy of a VW dealership 1967 type2 parts book, purchased at the Vintage Meet In Seattle in the late 90s. 🤙
