THANK YOU FOR WATCHING AND BEING WONDERFUL!!!
also, to clarify, I'm not against lube AS LUBE, lube as itself is excellent and not gross.
But I am against LUBE AS A FACIAL CLEANSER
Hannah I love you lol
😂😂😂
Lololol a friend of mine from college just posted a pic of lube that she made at home using flax seeds, and she used an empty Gatorade bottle to store it, and honestly I’m against everything about that.
Same😂
😆🤣
Smidge is THE perfect backdrop to your video😻 Her little stretches and then the quick bath, it’s just adorable. I do miss seeing Sadie wander around behind you, I hope she’s adjusting to Smidge.
Thank you for the helpful feedback, Hannah! We always appreciate your honest opinions, it's how we learn and grow! We always are grateful for your support, means a lot to us ❤️
thank you so much for the kind note! 😭 I love so many Persona products so much and I'm incredibly grateful to be connected with your awesome team ❤️
friends, when I decluttered the e.l.f. putty blush a lot of you commented saying that this product works really well for you and theorizing that I may have gotten a dud. I didn't get the chance to mention that in this video because I had already filmed it by the time I saw those comments. But I am going to try to test out a different color at some point, or maybe even a different pot of the same color! Thank you for the input ❤️
I was going to comment the same thing, because all of the Elf putty blushes I own really apply beautifully on me. It could also be just skin type, maybe?? Idk, but every time I see a negative review of them, I wonder why they work so well for me.
The putty blushes also don't work for me! Swatches beautifully, but when applied on my face it becomes patchy and catches on all my skin texture.
The Bali blush didn’t work for me as a blush for the same reasons you mentioned. However, it makes a killer lip stain. It’s got a powdery texture reminiscent of K-beauty products. Definitely give it a whirl!
I was just watching a drugstore cream blush video the other day to see if there were any new things I should be aware of--
She used a dense brush and stippling motions, pouncing it in place then radiating outward from there.
I feel it's worth a revisit with renewed focus, since you're a cream blush queen.
I don't know if you got a dud! Because I bought one of the putty blushes (a different color than yours) and did not apply nicely. It dried down TOO much and it never really applied evenly in terms of color. It was patchy and translucent and not super foolproof to work with.
"Turn the stomach of my mind" has to be the most poetic way I've ever heard anyone say something is gross. This level of sophistication is why I love this channel. 😊 Also, I agree with you on these products...especially the "lube" one. 😂
“I’m grossed by you, but I’m not grossed out by you.” I can’t wait until my next break up to use this line.
😂
When you said it reminds you of lube I thought to myself "I don't get what she means", then you squeezed it near the microphone and I was like 👁️👄👁️
😂
I really needed an HLP video rn. It's 1.30am, and these videos help my anxiety filled brain calm down and relax a little so I can sleep
Hannah, you're probably not gonna see this comment, but in case you do, thank you so much.
I hope you are able to fall asleep soon and sleep well!
Omg isn’t she the best to fall asleep to?😂
@@MH-ve5sz yes exactly!!
1:53 “There’s just a smidge left…sorry Smidge, I didn’t mean to take your name in vain.” Too cute for words, I tell you.

So sad. Even without any actives and with a crap ton of moisturizer my skin still peels like how you described after using the baby facial. But it gets so oily still…

This video gives me flashbacks to the Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Tapioca Dry Shampoo. I bought one time, sadly a 2 pack from amazon. It was highly recommended and it actually works really well but somehow I did not connect the dots at purchase time that there is no world in which I would want my hair to smell like Tapioca. It was not OK.
I love everything about your content, but as a book editor I have to say that I ESPECIALLY love your dedication to good grammar! I practically swooned at a recent video where you declared "subject/verb disagreement!" (right as I was thinking the same) lol 😂 😍
It's like a needle poking at my brain every time someone says "the formula of these are...". And English is really not my first language. 😅
you might be interested to know that the sakari baby facial isn't actually sold in Australia because its so strong its considered to be a cosmeceutical product! also, I think a total beauty fail for me would be the sunscreen I just tried its the Australian Cancer Council matte zinc moisturiser and it was supposed to be a lightweight matte moisturiser with a physical SPF component - if your cleanser was lube then this SPF is white, vinyl paint. It was just essentially pure zinc and was so thick, and so sticky that even after I washed my body with an oil-based body wash from lush there was still a visible white layer in the lines of my skin and in my pores. I ended up having to repeatedly use an oil cleanser to get it off...
"Turns the stomach of my mind" is now added to the list of Hannah phrases I bring with me out in the wild.
Now I really want confetti cake 😱
Buying base makeup online often ends as a fail for me. I'm always thinking "Nah, not the lightest shade. I'm not that pale.". Turns out... I am that pale (or the shade range is not very impressive).
This!!! I consistently do the same thing. Even when they shade match me places, it’s never the lightest shade. Then, I inevitably have to return it for the lightest shade. I just ordered the Rose Inc. concealer after watching Hannah’s review of the Lisa Eldridge foundation. I’m so excited to see if I finally have a good concealer match!
the amount of times i've seen a shade that looks white on the website and then irl its yellow 💀
Completely hypnotized by this eyes/cheeks/hair/earrings combination
Smidge's little stretch at 11:56 is so cute!
I was in need of a good dose of HLP today, my chronic pain has been flaring up like mad & these videos always give me a hit of dopamine that can help with my pain. So thanks Hannah. Are you going to do another live advent calendar boxing like you did last year?? That was so enjoyable.
I had one of these gross texture experiences recently, let me tell you. It was with the Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel from the brand Then I Met You.
The central conceit of the product is that it’s a tea-scented gel cleanser that foams up when exposed to water, so it’s one of those dime-a-dozen basic skincare products that costs slightly more because it is marketed in millennial-friendly packaging with a millennial-friendly smell/flavour. Or at least, that’s what I thought when I purchased it.
I have no idea what they added to the formula, or what strange witchcraft/black magic was invoked when creating this cleanser. But whoever formulated the product managed to include something that gives it a quality unlike any gel cleanser I have ever tried. See, this cleanser is not just gel like; the problem is that it is also sticky. But not sticky in the way you might be thinking, where it leaves a tacky residue after application to the face. No, more than anything, this cleanser sticks to ITSELF. And not just in the sense of being thick and viscous like some other gel cleansers, oh no no no. What I’m talking about is it being the kind of gel that is so sticky that when you drag a finger through it to pull some of the cleanser down, the cleanser springs back to where you pulled it from! I’m saying this is the cleanser equivalent of flubber.
Which brings us to problem number 2. This overabundance of stickiness gives the cleanser a quality that is much worse - this gel is STRINGY. If you squirt some onto the back of your hand and then use a finger to scrape some of it off, there will be a long string of tea scented goo extending between the scooping finger and the hand. You can pull and pull and pull and the string will grow to over a foot long before it snaps. If i need to spell it out any further - this cleanser is stringy in the way that snot is. It is stringy in the way that SEMEN is. Except somehow moreso because this is a chemically engineered stringiness that far surpasses the capacity of any natural bodily fluid to be stringy.
Onto the application. First thing’s first, the tea smell is pretty gross once it’s all over your face, just an artificial and vaguely flowery smell which I find to be pretty unpleasant. No points for that. Once it seeps into your mouth, the taste of course manages to be far, far worse - a weird, chemically floral that carries more than a hint of ‘petals crushed with cocaine’. I applied it in the bath and was so eager to get it off that i immediately splashed water onto my cheeks and mouth to remove the awful thing.
And then came the clincher. I mentioned before that the gel foams when it comes into contact with water. The foaming, in and of itself, is innocuous enough. Plenty of cleansers foam just as much as this one does. The problem is that even after the cleanser foams up, it manages to retain its sticky, stringy quality. The bubbles stick together and string together. When you pull the bubbles one way, they drag a trail or string of bubbles along with them. The stringiness is intense enough that this trail will stretch for a long, long time before it breaks.
The consequence of this might not be immediately apparent, until you consider the following: gel is weighty enough that it requires tactile force to move it around on your face. Bubbles, on the other hand, are not. They are, by definition, as light as air. So light that even an exhale is enough to move them. Even an inhale.
Sitting in that bath with the foamy gel coating the bottom half of my face, I made the fatal mistake of sniffing once. My fate was sealed. Bubbles were drawn up into my nose, and that chemically floral scent was soon everywhere. I immediately snorted in a vain attempt to push the cleanser back out, but that sticky quality made it perfectly adhere to the inside of my nose once it had settled into the hairs up there. But the worst was yet to come. Because I had not just snorted a small amount of bubbly cleanser into my nose. What I had snorted was the start of what would become a very long and very sticky STRING of bubbles, the tip of which was now inside my nose. And of course, when it came time to inhale again - the bubbles shot further up my nose and down the back of my throat, and a string of fresh bubbles were dragged along behind it up into my nostrils. This sequence repeated itself for a number of minutes until all I could taste was the bubbles in my mouth, all i could smell was the bubbles in my nose, all i could feel was the tickling of bubbles down the back of my throat, and all I could think about was that the bubbles were probably now inside my lungs. I coughed till I was raw, sniffed hard enough to burn the inside of my nostrils, spat as many times as I could to get that awful taste off of my tongue. In short, it was a fate that can be described as nothing less than bukakke by gel cleanser.
Needless to say the cleanser was also drying as hell, and left my skin feeling stripped and tight.
This horror novella needs to become a copypasta in the reviews for this product!
I laughed until I cried reading this
this is bananas. It sounds like they tried to make a cleanser that is also SLIME
what a masterpiece of a review. So sorry it happened to you, but I'm so glad you wrote this lol
Poetic horror
Lol, as one of those people who always says it's fine to end a sentence with a preposition I gave up long ago with you 😂. I'm a linguist, so I'm descriptive not prescriptive...even if that means I have to stop myself from prescribing not taking the prescription 😛
Edit: lube cleanser does sound a little gross!
Edit2: Smidge in the background is giving me life
I relate so much to being both descriptive and prescriptive and trying not to turn myself into a Pretzel of Inconsistency.
I am of the belief that I should not end a sentence with a preposition when I am writing, but it is ok to end a sentence with a preposition when I am speaking. It all depends on the audience. My background is in law, so I think that affects my position. My audience when I am speaking tends to be a layperson, but my audience when I am writing tends to be a judge or justice.
I like videos like this because it reminds me that not everyone has the same cosmetic/skincare preferences! I have incredibly oily skin and the “Cake my Day” hydrating mask is one of the only ones that truly hydrates my skin without breaking me out! I love it! ❤️
Mine doesn’t smell like play-doh though, and the sprinkles don’t leave any color residue anywhere 🤷🏻♀️
I think the color residue is another part of the dry vs oily. If it absorbs too quickly or completely, the pigment might get stuck? I know that I can wear/use some products during my summer that get horribly patchy when winter dries out my skin.
I don't know; I only have my PhD in makeup from the university of UA-cam, so I highly encourage you to look at other sources. 😂
I'm so glad it's working for you!!
I find my Elf Putty blush to be a bit too stiff for me, but I love how it wears on my face, and how long it often lasts. I find the Putty Bronzer to be so much creamier and easier to apply with a brush (yet still lasts for a long time). However, the thing that annoys me most about that blush and bronzer are the pot sizes, I really don't like how small they are, but I think there is enough product in them. If the pots had a slightly larger diameter, It would be so much easier to fit my brushes in them, and I would use them more often!
I have a bottle of that cleansing gel currently winging its way over the Atlantic to me for the first time and I could not contain the cackle that burst out of my chest as you said the word "lube" - although I'm not super excited to put it on my face, it will for sure give me a giggle when it arrives.
Ahahaha oh man 😂 I totally see what she means but I do love this cleanser! Less is more though, I use one pump & a bunch of water and it's great!
@@srkra_ once the giggle subside I will be sure to keep this in mind, thank you!
I was going to do a soft sparkly eye look today but then I saw this video and oh wow.... I might need to recreate your look. The blush, the eyeshadow, the glow.... it's all perfection!
Same. I need to dupe these vibes for no reason and chill at home as a Glamazon in her Lewk and sweats. 😆😁💁🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
I still don't quite understand why beauty "fail" videos are some of the most satisfying to watch. Maybe it's just refreshingly honest to hear negative reviews when we've been bombarded with hype for so many years. Or maybe acknowledging less than stellar products makes me appreciate all the gorgeous products out there that much more. We're fortunate to live in a time of abundance where we can be choosy.
The biggest beauty fail of my entire life was the Tatcha powder.
This was marketed to smooth over pores, leave a diffused brightened and radiant complexion without highlighting texture, mattifying without being dry, and protective over time against environmental stressors.
This powder was none of that.
It simultaneously made me look dry and oily at the same time. Hightlighted lines and wrinkles I didn't know I had. Sunk into every pore, I felt like they were so deep, I could almost peer into them like taking the manhole covers off a sewer.
Aged me 87 years immediately upon application. I looked like the Crypt Keeper.
Texture of sawdust with glitter in it.
Applied over foundation, it coagulated and formed an odd paste like substance, similar to the ways in which one might make gravy. Foundation gravy.
And on top of all that hideousness... It smelled like wet cornflakes. Dusty, grainy, soggy grains stewing in spoiled milk.
Hands down the worst beauty purchase I've ever made. Couldn't wait to return it.
noooo not wet cornflakes!!!
O gosh I thought you were talking about the rice powder they sell where you add water and it becomes a wash because that stuff is amazing. Haha sorry girl stuff shouldn’t age you…
So, a couple of things: 1.) I am always so impressed with your commitment to get through products so as not to waste them! I can rarely do that. I’m just like, life is short. Throw away the moisturizer. I want to be more like you! 2.) I wonder if that GM face wash would have reminded you of lube 🤣🤣🤣 if it had a color to it. Gel face washes (the one from aveeno in particular) are sooooo good because they are soothing and gentle on my extra sensitive skin, but the aveeno one has a slight tint to it, so it has never reminded me of lube 🤔 I know. Deep thoughts.
yes, I really do think that the colorlessness and scentlessness are both at the root of that issue. But I also totally understand that those qualities are by design!
OH.MY.GOD! Girl, I was dying when you pumped out that Good Molecules cleaner-You literally made my night 🤣
my beauty fail that i'll never get over is 100% the glossier lidstars. i bought a few shades bc i was so convinced it would be perfect for me! god they were horrid, i do not understand how anyone makes them work! they always looked horrible patchy on my eyes no matter what i did and i was so sad about it!
I let out an audible "BLEH" when you squeezed out that cleanser! Getting secondhand heebie-jeebies just from the footage and description of the texture of that product. Thank you for turning me away from this product, I would not have been able to handle it lmao
My mom used to tell me “There was a little girl” all the time… because I was that little girl, and we are Longfellow fans. Love that analogy 🥰
Your LEWK today is Sending me! I wish that Kevin Aucoin “bronzer” was still available. It creates a cheek!! And I love knowing those earrings were a gift from your hubby. It always adds a sweet note of romanticism to the video.
I think it is still available! I linked it! This is the actual bronzer, not the neo-highlight.
@@HannahLouisePoston I used your link! I just realized it’s probably Temporarily sold out due to the sale season. I will re-try when the sales are over. 😉
So crazy! I had exactly the same experience with the Babyfacial, and strong acid exfoliators in general. They have really picked up in the last few years in the skincare world. At first, you get addicted to that supersmooth feel! But then, after using them a couple years, I was getting irritated, and I believe messing up my skin barrier on a regular basis. Now, I will only use a light exfoliant toner a couple days a week. Or- the salicylic cleanser from Cerave is great. It's crazy because young people especially do not need an exfoliator as strong as babyfacial. It is really unnecessary for most people. And yeah... makeup for us dry skin girls is impossible when having these types of issues...
Okay, two random fails for me:
1) The Tower 28 highlighter. It's an unpigmented balm, so it's quite sticky and just never sets down on your face. Also, since it's completely clear, tiny hairs and specks of dust have gotten in the pan from me swirling my finger in it... and it just looks gross, lol.
2) This is sad, but the Lisa Elridge matte lipstick. This is only because of the color - it just doesn't suit my complexion. I got Velvet Muse, and I never ever reach for it because it's a bit too deep and brown for me. I thought it would be more neutral. It doesn't work with my undertones and makes me look kinda dead. I'd consider a different color, but the price is too high for me to justify trying another. In general, I think most of my "fails" have revolved around items that don't work out for me color-wise. It's hard to tell online!
I like used brown toned nudes to tone down other lipsticks that are a bit bright, especially when I’m wearing more colorful eyeshadows
I'm only at the cupcake mask, but I must say this video is hilarious. Love to hear you describe beauty products that resemble non-beauty products.
Good Molecules Astroglide L O L
Also I'm with you. Eating birthday cake? 10/10 love it. Cake scented stuff? No thank u. Sensory experience really does have a huge hand in whether or not I'll use a product. If it smells sickly sweet or feels like lube being put on my face... I ain't doin' it.
Also reading the description box and finding out the eyeshadow is the gucci palette UGH 1) I'm so happy for you that it's so beautiful though 2) I wish it was something I owned or planned on buying already haha
The comeback of this earrings!!!! 🤩🤩🤩
I was searching through the comments specifically to see if anyone had mentioned this!!!!!
Thought the same 😍
For a very mild exfoliator that is REALLY gentle and I can use (on my very sensitive skin) once a week alongside a retinoid, is the mandelic acid from Stratia. I also really recommend their liquid gold moisturizer, their cream cleanser and their serum. The brand is affordable, gentle, women-owned, science-based and independent :)
Im on tret like Hannah and I can't even use mandelic 😥 tret just makes your cells turn over so quickly , acid is too much.
I love this eye look, I really want to buy that palette eventually. Maybe as a gift for finishing my no buy!
My beauty fail would be Gucci Matte Lipsticks! I only every bought 2, and they both broke! The bullet just split and fell to the ground. They are too soft, Ive never had that happen with another lipstick. I was so bummed, especially since the formula and colors are sooo beautiful. I actually still might repurchase one and just use a brush to apply, I liked that color so much. It was my favorite lipstick until it died on me.
oh NO I'm so sorry to hear this! I have wanted one of those matte lippies for a long time. Will proceed with caution.
Use a brush and keep it in the fridge! My bite ones were very fragile too but keeping them cool helped if I wanted to just smear it on
@@nailinthefashion Ill try that out!! Thank you so much!
In Designing Women, Charlene tells this old anecdote:
"I asked this Northern woman, 'Where are y'all from?' And she said, 'I'm from a place where we don't end our sentences with prepositions.' So I said, 'Okay, where are y'all from, b....?'"
I'm gonna cite fandom for that quote. But this is what I think of every time I struggle with the placement of my prepositions.
I'm not terribly critical when it comes to makeup, but Uoma Beauty's Drama Bomb mascara was a fail. Simply because of the fragrance. It's sad, because it did everything I want a mascara to do.
😂
LOL!!
Yay, Smidge is back snoozing in the background! I'd missed her in the last couple of videos! She looks bigger too!
Love your detailed review, Hannah, and your mention of texture! It's not because something might work well (like the lube-y cleanser) that it's a good product for us! Sensory experiences are so important for us as human beings.
I just bought the Shiseido self refreshing skin tint and my god, did it flake on my skin! My skin is in a bad mood, so I hope it looks better once I get it back on track, but for now: total fail.
I love that cleanser!!! I like the texture too, and how squidgy it is on the face. I recently ran out and now I’m begrudgingly using up another one until I can replace it
Finally, Smidge in a video 🐈⬛🤩
I also didn’t like the elf putty blush! I tried it with everything: fingers, brush, sponge. It was a patchy MESS! Also LIVING for these chaotic titles
You by far are one of my fav findings of new channels I found this year. Love your videos! 🌻🌻🌻
thank you! so glad you are here!
I cannot express emphatically
enough how much I agree with your good molecules face wash review. It also lives in my shower, where I also use it only when I'm between other cleansers, and it also reminds me strongly of lube, and I also hadn't articulated any of that to myself until watching this video. I don't know why I was giving it a pass for so long. Because of the glass packaging, possibly?
A recent beauty fail for me is the violette_fr highlighter stick which I wanted to love but, for me, the glitter in it is too much. I love a glittery eye or lip but I never want specks of actual glitter on my cheeks, especially when they shift blue and pink like the glitter particles in that product. It's beautiful but SO not for me, and I wish she would've represented its qualities more accurately in her launch content.
I was so excited to get the “cool” Roen eye palette via GMA deals and steals. It was a fail for me because I’m not a glitter girl and it was all glitter to me. I like some glitter/shimmer but not when I see flecks on my cheek like when unpacking the Christmas tree. Gave it to a friend and she loves it. 😊
The curl poem refrence 👍🏻, as a curly haired person with bangs i felt that deep in my soul.
The return of the birthday earrings!! Yay!! I remember how you just loved them before they were even 'yours'! :) Thanks for the video!
i've said it before, i'm gonna say it again - if the opportunity comes, i would encourage trying the elf putty blush again! i became a quick fan of it, along with many others. mine doesn't chunk / patch up like that, it's really smooth and blends like a primer even... it totally seems up your alley, especially with the undertones + affordability/accessibility to this kinda formula. would just hate to see you miss out on this because you accidentally got a dud! kind of sad that some people get ones with inconsistent formulas :(
I actually totally agree with you on the Elf putty blush. I have a completely different color and I am not a fan either. I used it once and now I decluttered it. The Bronzer on the other hand is very good.
Always a pleasure to watch you Hannah, you speak with such direct and clear language and it’s something I personally am working on and wish to emulate. Great video. You are absolutely right that brands shouldn’t send something just for praise and I don’t think it’s something you should ever apologize/feel bad for-hearing your misses, especially something sent to you in PR, speaks to your reliability!
Major miss for me: that Revlon 24 hour foundation; just didn’t work with my dry skin
Beauty Fail: Elf Prep & Hydrate Balm. Supposedly a dupe for that Milk primer, but it’s just grease. I actually got it to be a pre cleanse/primer. I have dry, sensitive, but not acne prone skin and it immediately broke me out just after using it as a pre cleanse, not even a primer. 😬
That lube like cleanse sounds just right for me though!
Hi Hannah!! Loved this video and your very thorough and detailed review of these products! So many times I see beauty fails videos that are wholly subjective, which is fair, but yours feels much more objective by giving intense details on why these didn't work, or weren't enjoyable or satisfying to use. Thanks so much! Love you!! 🖤🖤
You've been killing it with your eyeshadow lately. What eyeshadows have you been wearing? You look amazing, and not just in this video.
thank you so much for the compliment! In this vid it's the Gucci palette, just one shadow with a touch of shimmery topper.
I think you might love the newer Salt NY blush pigments in Terracotta and Cocoa. They are just stunning in my opinion!!
The Aveeno calm and restore face wash has the same consistency as the Good Molecules and I don’t like it either because that texture just doesn’t feel like it’s really cleansing - but the calm and restore moisturizer is AWESOME so I thought I’d like it. You live and you learn!
Lube. That’s exactly right. I hated the face wash product and couldn’t place what it reminded me of.
Biggest fail for me was Pat McGrath Bronze Seduction palette. I bought it from Sephora and it was super-dry and sandy. So much so, that I couldn't get the powder out of the pan and onto my eyes. It was like it had dried up in the pan. I did a bit of research and found that other had the same problem with the Bronze Seduction palette around the time that I struggled. My guess is that it was a bad batch. It was super-disappointing and expensive! I have two other PM palette's that I have had no problem with.
Hannah, I love the titles of your videos. They're always so amusing! I was out for the day when this posted, and the title had me in a state of delicious anticipation for several hours :)
For cream face soap lovers who want a good unscented, non-stripping, gentle cleanser at the drugstore with clean ingredients... acures pink one is my go to. I'm sure people have their own, but finding this one was a god send 😂
Your makeup is fluffing stunning today 😍
Those earrings are killer and look stunning on you. I wish Lele would do an orchid collection as many species have similar shapes to her beloved lily styles. I would die and type my card number in as fast as possible as I'm an orchid enthusiast and exotic orchid collector.
I recently bought a blush from a Korean beauty brand called Dinto Cosmetics because their theme is classic literature and authors. I knew the blush was going to be light because of model pictures but the arms swatches looked okay. I guess buying a nude apricot blush was a big mistake for my warm undertone though because the blush blends completely into my skin. It doesn't show up at all unless I put a cream blush or something sticky underneath it.
hehe LOVE the negativity around the total beauty fail videos! I find they are just as informative as glowing reviews. and as always, Hannah, you look beautiful and chic today!
Somehow you always manage to upload right when I need an escape the most!
So happy to see your channel grow Hannah! 🌸
Thank you!!
I know exactly how you feel with the TLC Sukari Babyfacial - even though my skin is generally OK with acid treatments, a few months ago I made the grievous error of trying out a Dermalogica lactic acid treatment that, if used one dose a week is probably just fine (it didn't even burn or tingle when applying it, it felt a lot milder than I expected), but I went ahead and followed their suggestion to use it 3 nights in a row for a "jump start" on skin turnover. Hoo nelly. My face has been a trainwreck ever since then, and now that Montana winter is upon me I'm just a zit-riddled alligator. Nothing can sufficiently moisturize my face and I'm in a vicious breakout cycle.
Companies that suggest "jump starting" in that way should be liable for the months of fallout IMO! Aieee
@@airypersiflage LOL, if only. I was just really taken aback considering Dermalogica gives the vibe of being a generally good, trustworthy skincare brand; based off this experience, I don't care how "clinical" or science-y a brand sounds, if their instructions say a user can apply an acid treatment several days in a row (apart from a very low percentage daily toner) I will never do that again and only use it with applications spaced way apart. I'd rather get weaker exfoliation that won't rip up my skin.
@@threadsketch7267 yes I agree!! And have usually considered Dermologica a reliable if pricey skincare line, so that is extra aggravating.
I just found your channel and I have to say I just love the message of your channel, at least what i am hearing, that we don't NEED these things but they are nice to have and cherish. I appreciate that you can help me feel like I'm not going to die of FOMO for the gold palette for example. Your skin looks beautiful in this video especially, but it always does!
I love the look of the Elf lip glosses in general, but bought one and the chemical smell/taste! ICK! I find a decent amount of lower-end cosmetics (Elf, Wet & Wild, etc.) have that strong chemical smell/taste. I love a good inexpensive makeup or whatever sort, but not when it has that smell.
I have that cleansing gel and have barely used it. You’ve made me figure out why, and I don’t think I can look at it in my shower the same way. It might be time for it to go…
Gorgeous as always! Love this video idea!
Good molecules has a beauty fridge for 15 on sale. It’s a screaming deal for anyone that has been debating about getting a skin care fridge. Sending you oodles of love.
I bought the putty blush brush for my dirty and other cream blushes. I find that it works better than fingers or a sponge.
I listened to this in the car earlier and I very much was verbally agreeing with many of your opinions. Such as the one about cupcakes. Lol 💗
I totally concur about the Good Molecules cleanser, I've also almost used it up because I didn't want to get rid of it but the texture is so slippery it's just not pleasant to use.
Thank you for occupying 43 minutes of my life! I’m serious I was literally just thinking I need a Hannah video LOL :-)
Smidge is getting huge! :-)
The elf putty bronzer is actually really lovely. It’s less pigmented than my favorite cream bronzer but it builds nicely on the skin. I’m a bit put off on the blush though lol.
Yeah I agree, I feel like the bronzer is so much creamier (and less dry) than the blush! I also don't love the blush, especially applying it, but I find it lasts a bit longer than some other cream blushes on my skin.
Haha, I love the way this video started 😂💕
My vote is for team “sentences should not end with a preposition”, although I suspect the majority vote goes to team “it doesn’t matter”. 😉
It matters.
Thank you for another lengthy video Hannah 💖💯
Love your channel Hannah; I have breakfasted with you many mornings. As for beauty fails, my first foray into serums was with with Drunk Elephant's Framboos Night Serum, which was an epic disaster, causing my clear, relatively untroubled skin to peel like it was filo pastry. On the other hand I love Drunk Elephant's LaLa retro whipped cream and have repurchased it.
The Ordinary has a peel product that works even better than the Baby Facial and 1/6th of the price. ❤️
Listening to you talk about the Elf gloss and the glitter makes me think of Samantha March's Millie with Ofra. This was not a fail but it recently expired on me and not only does it smell but I could really feel the glitter in the gloss and it wasn't pleasant. But in it's prime, man was that a beautiful gloss.
Just bought that cleanser in a set for their BF sale 😅 Texture usually doesn’t bother me as much so fingers crossed I enjoy the lube cleanser 😂
that cake my day mask was inspired by mrs. doubtfire and you can't convince me otherwise
I love the title! 😂
And, you look stunning! 😍
My beauty fail was the thrive causemetics mascara! I could not BELIEVE how abysmally it performed on me, flaking and smudging from the minute I put it on, as well as making it look like I had three eyelashes. Neither of these issues happen to me with regular drugstore or high end mascaras, so I was shocked!
Beauty win was the bite beauty upswing mascara, and I'm very excited to try the elf big mood because I heard on another channel that it is a dupe for the upswing!
I learned to use my foundation sponge for the elf putty blush . My elf putty bronzer works just fine even with a buffer brush. The blush I got seems to be a bit dried out compare to my putty bronzer. 😟
I also have Bali, and I find I fairly dry/powdery, but I really like it. I find I can use it with my fingers or a brush and it looks nice and wears all day and doesn’t feel sticky at all! However I do think if you really wanted to build up color or have darker skin it might not work, and it could potentially wear away foundation/concealer (which I don’t wear) or stick to dry patches (I have oily skin).
Your eyeshadow looks amazing 🤩
Yeeesssss. So fun.
Teresa is Dead recommended the innBeauty slushy serum. I’ve used it for a month now and it is my gold standard. Replaced two products that totaled almost $200 together for a whopping $28! The older I’ve gotten, the more sensitive my skin has become, but this serum gives me baby skin and no breakouts. Layers beautifully under moisturizer (but does equally well on me without additional moisturizer) and foundation. Highly recommend.
I also got that elf gloss, put it on once, wiped that junk off and put it back into the package to give to some poor unsuspecting friend 🤣 my fail is the Kate Somerville Exfolikate treatment. That stuff burns my skin like none other. I’m so glad that I got it in a subscription box and didn’t pay full price for it because that would have hurt big time.
Totally agree with the good molecules cleanser fail. I can’t figure out what to do with it…throw away, give to an enemy of mine?
I used that good molecules cleanser 20 minutes before watching this video and while I like how gentle and effective it is, the lube texture description is dead on! x) every time I use it I think it won't rinse off well. I like it, it's reliable, affordable, and so gentle, but I use like half a pump and thin it out on my hands with water to get past the goo sensation.
Beautiful earings!
My fail is the Glossier skin tint! I have super sensitive skin and for some reason this product and I did not get along. Instead of making my skin look effortlessly dewy, it made my skin red and puffy. You could see exactly where I had placed it on my skin
