    Great interview. I remember "rock n roll woman" during my Army days. I couldn't believe how good it sounded. And even today I listen to it occasionally. The 60's and 70's had some great music and great musicians, (Beetles, Mamas & the Papas, Hendrix, Stones, Doors, Creedence, Janis, Jefferson Airplane, Dylan). I wish I were back there in many ways.

    Ritchie needn't fret about not having a monster hit because we Poco fans consider him HUGE, certainly bigger and more important than tons of guys who did "top the charts". The stuff he wrote and performed in Poco and even in Buffalo Springfield are classic and I still listen them today. Remember, there's just a little bit of magic in that country music we're singin'. We folks are happy. Thanks, Ritchie.

    He does fret about it. He seems unconvinced internally about his impact and clear recognition to the outside world of music lovers. But Richie was impactful. Sometimes the guy in the middle is the most important. His voice is as recognizable as anyone’s in the business.

    And Settlin' Down is one of my favorite songs of all time. Period. My boyfriend saw Ritchie last summer at The Fur Peace Ranch and I didn't get to go. He sat with Ritchie on the stage afterward and talked with him a few minutes, got a picture. I was so jealous!! He told me how nice Ritchie Furay is. Talented, nice, and a legend. What else can you ask for? Thanks Ritchie!!

    I have always adored this song. And they played in the Wonder Years when I was in college in the late 80s early 90s. It captured the 60s perfectly and having been born in 69 I wondered what that time was like. Dad said lusten to Buffalo Springfield because they nailed it. Grateful they did.

    Always fascinated with Ritchie. Great singer in a cool band. Playing rhythm guitar with Stephen and Neil and singing shows his greatness. Great artist and a great selection for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I think of Ritchie on equal terms with Stephen and Neil in the Buffalo Springfield. Without his singing, they would never have broken through! I love Ritchie!

    I remember hearing of The Buffalo Springfield via my musician pals who lived in LA during the mid-Sixties. I also read about BF in "Crawdaddy" magazine. I was also taken by the band's name -- taken from a heavy equipment company (in Springfield, OH). All the very best, Richie! God keep ya, man!

    I am in child of the 70s literally I was a child when for what it’s worth came out by the time I heard it I was a teenager by the time I knew what Buffalo Springfield was about I was in my late teens early 20s but I can tell you this for all the interchangeable members of all bands. Buffalo Springfield, Free, And T-Rex for example. Every one of those bands musicians played a part in making the band or the songs that were produced would’ve never stood the test of time. So thanks Richie🇺🇸❤️👍🏻😎

    Ritchie,,,, YOU DID WRITE A MEGA HIT. Anyone who listens to CRAZY EYES IS GOBSMACKED. That one song is been with me my whole life. One of the " greatest " songs ever written. I rank it up there with any song Zepplin ever wrote. Has to one of the best songs ever written and produced.

    I was fascinated that Richey had aged so little since 1977. But I checked and it was 1997, which makes more sense (the first inductions were in 1986).

    Rich Furay is such a class act. Such humility. For what it's worth (haha), in my mind he is the mirror image of Neil: way less commercial success than him, but in terms of the positive impact he's had in the *personal* life of those he's encountered on his journey, it's almost night and day. Especially when it comes to his ministry. Neil, he's just left a trail of personal betrayal in his wake, not just friends and collaborators, but life partners (his wife). And he can write and sing too, even if it never caught hold in the mood of his times. "Kind Woman" is still one of my favorite BS songs.

    Richie's 1960's Hippie cadence is VERY cool. People who call you "man" when they talk to you are ALWAYS, gentle considerate Peaceniks who never judge of denigrate ANYONE. .... (WICKED jacket John! ... who gave it to you, Jimi Hendrix?)

    It's funny to me to watch this vid and read the comments just after the one about Richie, Randy Meisner, Jim Messina and the mixing session. The comments there were pretty strong one way or the other and several giving Richie some shit. In this video, he seems like a guy who knows what he accomplished and didn't and being blessed for what he does have.
    Perhaps he was a bit of a dick back then. Seems so many highly successful people are VERY focused and not the most socially tolerant/aware of others' needs. I did things in my 20's I wouldn't even consider doing today, arrogant, know-it-ally and pushy things. Hopefully I've been forgiven by Creator and those I offended because I've finally forgiven myself!

    I bekieve that "Do I have to coome right out and say it" was released as the flip of "For wht its worth" I could be wrong. But in my crowd that song was very popular and we coulld never understand wht the radio didnt play it more. The Underground Radio at that time was into being "heavy" Richie was a nice guy. Fo figure. He looks back and thinks he was a willd guy, and maybe at first he was, buy he was usually considered to e a real sweet natured guy. The one who wrote the pretty songs. "Childs claim to Fame" was fantastic and I was glad that Poco picked it up. SHF had some hits. And really I dont remember any Stills single hits. He was always a band member in his hits. CSN, (Judy BLue Eyes, great song. But not solo.Neil same thing. Harvest had some hits for sure. But back then there was top 40 and Underground. It was sudden death to be on Top 40. Bread found out. Bread was a great band, but never taken seriously. I had to get their album to find out.

    • @shyman99
      @shyman99 3 роки тому +2

      You don't remember Stills single hits? "Love The One You're With"? Led Zeppelin was taken seriously with top 40 hits. No death being on top 40. Bread was considered an easy listening band with love songs, nothing controversial, and guys who looked non-threatening. They lacked an edge. As for not being "taken seriously", most people sure know & love them.

    Neil Young could have never sang “now a days Clancy can’t even sing” and made it the hit Richie made it. It’s like Hendrix making “ All Along The Watch Tower” the hit it became. Richies vocals are so, well, RICH. I love Richie and everything he’s ever done musically. I also have tremendous respect for him as a human being. He’s truly a role model. Richie is hands down the one to watch out of all the 60’s icons. Well done brother.
