What can I say? Another epic day spearfishing on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Tom Hearty invited me back out with a great group. We saw some Killer Whales, beautiful scenery and caught some good fish and epic memories. Freediving, spearfishing, good vibes and delicious food... What more could one ask for? spearfishing in Canada is amazing.

Those fish nuggets are amazing when tossed in some sweet chili sauce!!!
I'll have to give it a go!
Oh my gosh!! Yes!!! My spirit animals!! ❤❤❤
Haha awesome. We were pumped to see them.
@@PNWSamson I miss the pnw. Hope you get back there one day. Until then, I’ll live vicariously through you lol
👍👍
✌️🤙♥️
you stoned that blue or deacon or dusky! Congratulations on the very nice lingcod. What beautiful footage!
Thanks bro! And yeah man, that guy was a goner. Nothing beats a stone shot!
That beautiful. Thanks for the trip!
My pleasure!
Your videos always get a thumbs up from me.
Much appreciated man!
Killer whales...everyone out of the pool lol...visibility looks pretty good on the video. That rock outcropping was nasty, couldn't tell if power boats go through there but if yes, there no doubt have been some accidents
I know eh!? That's a boat sinker for sure. I was looking for some props left on the reef haha
So good chris, beauty shots!
Haha thanks man. Pretty spectacular coastline.
Those Orcas though man so awesome!
Yeah dude it was amazing! Such a nice sight!
Always love watching.....talk about choosing to live the life you love.
Love your values and all you show and teach of our beautiful Ocean. From the Okanagan B.C.
Thanks for the kind words! You only live once and tomorrow isn't promised so might as well do what you can while you can! Happy I can showcase our beautiful ocean to people who are a little more land locked or are unable to jump in themselves. Cheers!
Mmmm, beer battered, one of my favourites. Kept me alive so far, must be healthy? haha
Haha true enough! I'm happy they are a pain to make or we'd be doing it way too much haha. Super tasty!
7:08 Unreal
Yeah man those jellyfish are breathtaking!
Amazing video dude! So beautiful
Cheers! We have it pretty good in British Columbia!
@@PNWSamson I know right!?! You are my inspiration to be in the water and make videos! I'm the same guy that made the post in the Facebook group looking for a buddy (no success yet though haha). I'm looking forward to the next vid!
@@polarhorse6927 that's awesome man, happy to hear that! And don't be discouraged. Keep reaching out and you'll find a good crew. Funny though, it seems like everyone is looking for a dive buddy but when people reach out it's nothing but crickets haha. Pretty annoying!
Every single day I'm more amazed how lucky I am to be raised/live in BC.
Yet another video I have to watch twice!
That's amazing! And me too man. I can't believe I took our province for granted for so long. Open cell wetsuits are a serious game changer!
That scenery! Those colors! Absolutely beautiful and looks great even with the GoPro! Well done. Do you have any tips on keeping a mask clear from fogging up?
Thanks so much! And I do. You need to use toothpaste to get rid of the silicone that gets on the mask during the manufacturing process. A lighter can work as well. And from there, baby shampoo on the lens before each dive. Put on a layer, give it a light rise, and keep the mask on from there. If you keep taking your mask off in the water the shampoo comes off otherwise your good all dive and no fog! Baby shampoo (tear free) is a game changer.
@@PNWSamson Damn dude thank yoouuuuu! Huge help! You're the best.
Nice
Thanks! 🤙
I was just there last weekend and had glorious weather as well... Very similar conditions. Not the best viz but otherwise amazing.
That's awesome man happy you got out! Such a beautiful coastline!
Just want to say thanks for sharing all that you have on UA-cam Chris. I've been enjoying your content and your approach to conservation. It's been educational and inspiring to be sure. You've definitely influenced my sprit and desire to dive into the blue.
Awesome channel brother.
Thanks man! Comments like this mean the world to me. UA-camrs inspired me so I'm happy I'm able to pay that forward. Making videos is a labour of life so nice to know it's appreciated! Thanks brother! ✌️
The videos are amazing, what a nice dive!
Thanks brother! Hope to see you Sunday.
@@PNWSamson oh you will!
Holy moly!!! What a beautiful day you had!!! Envy you!
Get out there! Such a beautiful spot. We got lucky but I put up with a lot of bad conditions before we enjoy those days haha
Thanks for sharing another great video .
My pleasure man, cheers!
Chris your videos are the best. Keep doing what you’re doing. I’m living though them.
Did you take a freediving course when you first started out?
Thanks for always tagging along my friend! Always look forward to your comments and recommendations. I did man! Training is definitely key. It's expensive though... It's unrealistic to expect everyone to pay $600+ for a course when buying gear alone can push $1000 but it's pretty essential I'd say. There are some free online courses that will teach you the basics but ideally you take the full meal deal. Training is part one, experience being the second part to become a competent diver!
Great video, but you meant Fahrenheit not Celsius right? LOL 350 Celsius, I can't imagine what oil that hot would do
No, 350 celsius. We like our oil hot! Jk haha, my bad. Pretty sure it would ignite!!
Love the videos me and my pals are just getting into diving for crabs on the island
Thanks man! And good times. Crab diving is the best way to get comfortable in the ocean. Super rewards too. A big easter egg hunt haha
have you ever narrated fishing shows or anything before, i swear i have heard ur voice before lmao.... like whenever i watch a west coast fishing doc, i feel like ur voice is narrating
Haha can't say that I have. I teach safety courses though, maybe I taught you fall protection?
I’m in Comox valley. Great content. If someone wants to get into free diving on the island, where do they start?
Getting certified would be your best option. Joining the local Facebook groups is a good way to connect with people. I put together a playlist with all my tips and tricks for harvesting and diving. That might help answer some questions too!
Just a heads up, tried to support the channel, you re out of large t shirts😁
Good to know! Had no idea. I'll work on getting some more. Btw, Tammy had mentioned you know each other. She's awesome!
Those are pretty new engines, what was up with it?
Simple fix. The fitting from the fuel tank had failed due to metal fatigue. The engine wasn't getting fuel as a result. We just plugged the fitting and Tom needs to pick up a new one. Lucky not an engine issue!
Oh nice. I thought it was illegal to spearfish in Canada. Is there any need of permissions or license?
It depends on the province. In BC, it's legal. You'd need a tidal fishing license if in the ocean and freshwater for lakes and rivers. It's pretty restrictive though, many bodies of water and fish species are off limits. Always have to check the regulations before heading out, especially to an unfamiliar area.
what kind of depths do you dive to?
Typically between 30'-50' but I've dove to 107' as my deepest.
350 F not C, the oil would be on fire at 350 C.
Yeah, that was a mistake.
