I wouldn't say it retains all of his personality, but I would say that with this one he keeps a lot more of it than most of the Beast Wars figures do in this line.
I've heard some folks saying that they're glad that the dinosaur characters in Kingdom didn't have feathers, and I believe that Dinobot and Terrorsaur should remain scaly. However, as long as the green and purple and red eyes were kept, I think that feathers would suit BW Megatron. They would match his elegance and flair.
Good to see that "Leader" seems to actually mean "Leader" again. I wish he had a different face with perhaps his plotting smirk, but he looks fantastic. Haven't seen him anywhere here, and checking the tags on shelves, stores aren't even stocking him yet for some reason.
Unfortunately Commander doesn't mean Commander Any more. Yeah the expression is too unhappy for Megs. Also I haven't seen him on shelves either, I had to get this on Hasbro Pulse.
My theory on why 86 grimlock misses out on the front teeth is because of how the head is angled in the mould where if there were front teeth, it would end up needing to be one big mono-tooth, and then the bottom front teeth are neglected to draw less attention tho the lack of front teeth by not doing it halfway.
I am aware about the back pack, it's just this is how it's packaged so that's how I showed it off, and the hand in the tail in the show only tended to come out when he took the tail all the way off.
Dang, suprised you liked this guy so much! Figured the kibble and material/breakage issues would be a big demerit on your end, but seems I was incorrect...good! He really is a fun figure, and as someone who has long been collecting bots with beastmodes and has resigned to the fact that most beastmodes will be bricks, this thing is an absolute delight. He hits allllll the Jurassic Park poses you want, lol. Love this big purple piece of magnificence, yesssss.
Lets be clear the breakages are a HUUUUGE detriment, and it makes it painful for me to recommend this because I hate the idea of making people waste money, and if theirs does then I have done that, but this was so good I had to give it one none the less. The kibble not so much. And yes, when the Beast mode is that amazing how could I not love Barney here. YEaahhhsss.
Hey Perspective. I got great news, in future releases his tolerance and plastic quality improve drastically. I've had him for more than a year now and beside a panel or two bending the rest is great. Although the joints are a bit tight tho. Especially the hips and wrist hinge, that hinge is borderline immovable, other than that nothing to worry about

Finally got one!!! I gotta agree 100% that in most regards its better than the master piece. I love complex transformations and adore my KO mp44 transformation as I find it fun ( no way in hell I'm buying mp 44 for like 500cad) and I hate the mp beast wars megatron transformation, it's a pain and things untab so so easily, feels like 1 step a head and 2 steps back transforming him. Anyways love your videos and congrats on 3k subs!

There's a product from a company called "Kiki" that's meant for fixing loose action figure joints. I've never used it, but it's got decent reviews on Amazon and it's only ten dollars a bottle. I hear floor polish also helps tighten joints.
I got this literally a well ago. Mine seems to be built like a brick. Solid joints, nothing feels even close to breaking and I am thoroughly impressed. Got kingdom magnus too, very happy with that one as well
When I first got this guy I really thought I didn’t like him, I liked the robot mode ok but was hating the transformation, but the second I finished transforming it for the first time I knew I changed my mind, definitely the best alt mode of anything I’ve got, and somehow the transformation got better afterwards, the opposite of how it normally goes for me. Probably a top 5 figure I own and if I was more into beast wars there’s a strong chance he’s number 1

I agree with you on this one megatron's a good figure only issue is you can break him if your careless but if your carful and treat him well he is a great figure
Glad to hear it. Yeah, it's probably most likely OK but considering all the reports I've been seeing with picture Evidence, I figured it was important for people to be gentle with the Gem of a figure.
If you don't have an original Beast Wars Megatron, there's supposed to be a "Vintage" version with a slightly different paint job coming out soon. It might not be a bad idea to invest in one of those since the Beast Wars figures (the big ones, at least) were durable as Hell.
If u didn’t know, the proper way of the megatron tail arm is turning the edge part of the tail around where not the green is not matched up with the yellow ish color, basically the green part of the tip for the tail is turned around which breaks up color matching

The T rex face is perfect for the sole fact that its expression screams a schemer saying YEEESSSSSS! Agreed, I won't jump on the "Hasblow" bandwagon, and if I criticize them, it's because we want them to be better because we KNOW they can be better. I'll be super careful with mine, but I WILL get him once I clear some of the older and rarer figures on my checklist. Mark my words, yessss!
I was really worried this'd be a negative review because I LOVE this figure. Mine hasn't broken once, thankfully, and I think it's a real joy. My hips are also quite floppy but I only display him in beast mode so
I managed to find this back in February. I was shocked and immediately picked it up. I got pretty lucky because mine has no loose joints and has not broken. Though, to be fair, I have only transformed it once. Then I started hearing about how fragile it is and decided to leave it in beast mode.
Might be a good idea, it's probably his best mode, I've transformed it a bunch of times, and once on camera which is really hard. Just treat it carefully and it likely won't break.
Great review Perspective! Once again thanks to your reviews I have Kingdom Cyclonus on the way, and I’ve been looking for Inferno and Earthruse Runamuck. I recently started to watch Beast Wars for the first time (I wasn’t alive when it first came out) so I may start picking up some characters. Every store I go to has like 4 Optimus Primals so I may as well get one at this rate.
Nice. Glad to hear it. I hope I was part of the motivation to start watching Beast Wars, it's one of the if not the Best written piece of Transformers Media out there.
I really dig this figure, though I'm concerned about the tabs and joints on it. May I ask just for clarification just to make sure I'm on the same page, you're saying Megatron didn't have that hand in the show? I believe he does though. I don't understand the joint unless it's to plug in a weapon and move it out of the way from the stuff in front of the hand.
In the show he actually had both hands, though he was shown with the left one MASSIVELY more often, you could only see them when he didn't the tail on though because it completely covered his arm. I have tried plugging a gun in that hand, maybe if there is absolutely no butt end to it, it might work but the one I did try just couldn't work, because it collided with the rest of his arm. Even if it did, he'd be holding it at a REALLY goofy angle.
I think he was intended to be redone as the Jurassic Park Trex from the start and that's why they put so much effort into the Trex mode instead of making him simpler and less fragile. Since people will get that set for the dinosaur mode they want it to be as poseable as it is.
Well I mean in the show both he and Dinobot were very much Cribbing Jurassic Park, so my question is why is this one allowed to look like it did for the most part in the show as opposed to anyone else.
I just got the figure and it is really sturdy and solid I think the later issues of the figure fix the problems really well I shuck this thing and the legs stay still as a rock so I think the problems are from the older issues of the figure
Other than the Weird rubbery plastic and this is a damn good beast wars Megatron but my only other minor problem is he should came with a blast effect for the t-Rex head arms
Something hasbro should do is slightly retool these figures. It would be cool if they stripped the “realistic” elements from the kingdom BW figures and replaced it with show accuracy. Things like giving this megatron the correct Dino head, Optimus primal having an animation accurate gorilla head with his sculpted fur gone. Dinobot, even though his robot and Dino mode are very show accurate, in this proposed line, they could give him buffer arms, better Dino hands, more paint, and less realistic detailing for the Dino skin texture. Then they could give rat trap actual bronze arms and legs. Blackarachnea could have better colors. Airazor is really close with that bird head sculpt and feather texturing, so maybe they could try to retool it to make the bird mode look better. Instead of having the arms hang on the side in bird mode, maybe they could be on some forward butterflies do the bird doesn’t look so broad. I just think that since they have the base engineering for these figures down, it wouldn’t be a stretch to make them more show accurate. ESPECIALLY knowing hasbro and how they can never use one mold only once.

This one has one the most vibrant and best paint jobs I've seen from the current toy line. I would buy this just for the looks if I was into BW Megs, but I don't simp enough for him.
You can still do that, just if something feels like it doesn't want to move, don't force it, and don't drop it. But I mean outside of that very small breakage on mine I've had any damage.
Seems like there were a lot of short straws to draw, because a bunch of people have told me their legs are loose too. EDIT: The very next comment I responded to after this one said their legs were loose too. Not kidding.
I've frequented 5 nearby stores and infrequented a few not so nearby stores and found a total of _1_ of these. Compare that to the 20 Grimlocks I found at Walmart 5:40 saving this
A lot of people really like that bit. Dude I've been the the 9 storse within 70 miles over and over for the last 6 months and I couldn't find one of these, and I could barely find Grimlocks.
I was a "Geewunner" for years before I loosened up enough to watch Beast Wars. And it was Megatron that won me over, fitting that the toy does such a good job with him, especially dino mode. WAY better articulation than a R.E.D. figure. :P
He is one of the best parts of that serries, and one of the best villains ever written, his plans are so genius, such a mastermind. His altmode is better than a RED figure, ouch.
I saw T wrecks at my local target and I put in. The cart and after five minutes I put it back because I wanted to wait to get bw megaton, do you think I made the right choice?
If this Megatron could have the arm and back kibble be removed like the masterpiece that would be really nice. Main,y just a way to alter how beefy the back kibble is he does have some in the show but kingdom has a whole camping trip and then some. also maybe include the golden disc as an accessory
I literally just got this and I am not really big on beast wars but damn this is a good figure. It deserves the praise it gets didn't know its fragile but I think mines newer so hopefully they fixed that but imma use kid gloves just in case.
Yeah those leg were loose on mine as well, Thankfully I’d fix them by dropping a dab of super glue into the cracks of the joints and now they’re the right tightness, yessssss-
Good to hear, I've just been thinking about sticking some rubber between the legs before closing the gap, that way the are putting pressure on each other.
I received this figure today and I have no problems with it. I was very scared transforming him the first time, but he is nice and solid with only one leg a little loose.
I think the teeth thing _is_as safety regulation, but this figure is exempt because he has an _overbite_ instead of teeth that come together evenly. No Hasbro figures with an even jaw have front teeth. Same deal with the Jurassic park line.

I went and checked every toy on the aisle trying to figure out this exact thing. The Jurassic toys with even jaws have no teeth or only tiny nubs up front. Across the board. Dinos with overbites are permitted to keep their front teeth.
I’m pretty sure the budgeting on this figure was split between multiple different release plans. They have the first release,l. Then the T-Wrecks Target exclusive repaint (something Target _pays_ to have). Then, and this hasn’t been announced but I am 100% sure of this - they’re doing a Jurassic Park crossover. Hell, the figure seems like it was designed AS a Jurassic park figure _first_ and then put into Beast Wars colors. I donno if they split sculpting budgets, reused previous work or what. But this Dino mode is 100% Jurassic Park. My guess is, we know Hasbro was super warey of doing a full-on Beast Wars line, so they hedged their bets all over the place. Released Studio Series 86. Threw some of the SS86 figures _into_ Kingdom. Included multiple repackage figures as part of Kingdom. Included tons and tons of G1 characters to buttress the Beasties. And finally... they designed one of the central premium Kingdom figures specifically to cross pollinate with one of their other cornerstone brands. This way, they can protect against low sales by including a second revenue stream via the a Jurassic Park repaint. I’m pretty sure the unique, rubbery skin was included specifically so that it would feel more like a JP figure. It also looks like this thing might literally share tooling with JP’s T-Rex, AND the JP release could serve as an introduction to Transformers toys for new audiences. It’s actually pretty clever. And it gave justification for all the newfangled bells and whistles. I’ve never seen a Transformer toy with features like this. The super clever upper left engineering. The spring loaded neck bits. The inventive tail posing design work. Hasbro really went all out on this figure. They might have even cheaped out on the Ultra Magnus (I mean, he IS only a retool, right?) specifically to increase the budget on this guy. I’ve been told that at Hasbro there is a budget for lines as a whole, or skews within a line, instead of just for individual figures. If that’s the case, Megs here is a shining example of how that can pay off.
From what I've heard the Twrecks IS the Jurassic Park Crossover? And yes the dino mode is 100% the Jurassic Park Model no if's and's or But's. If it were trying to be realistic it would have feathers. I don't know why Hasbro was so unsure of the Beast Wars stuff. People have been begging for Decades and the stuff was Immensely back when it first came out. Yes, he is amazing in the engineering. Too bad about his materials.
@@PerspectiveEnd nah, T-Wrecks is a BEAST MACHINES sideline character, and a Target Red Card exclusive product. The Jurassic Park crossover figure is gonna be more akin to the Back to the Future figure, GIGAWATT, the Ghostbusters themed ECTO-ONE, or that weird X-Men jet transformer that you disliked so much. The Jurassic Park crossover figure would be a break from the “Tradition” set up by those previous examples, because those were each heavy retools and I’m seeing this as more of a straight repaint. But I can also see how the Jurassic Crossover entered the discussion much earlier in the case of Kingdom Megatron and this resulted in a different approach to the character. Jurassic World could have solved the feathers issue in one line of dialogue. Just have a scientist casually mention that these genetic cross breads (they aren’t REAL dinos!) were modified to remove feathers because audiences found them less appealing. Boom! Continuity and logic fixed! And a cool Easter egg for the more educated.
He does have a different expression and that's super lame, but at least there's that. I think they did do that. I don't think they said they did it on purpose, but that it's just a side effect of them being based on frogs.
PerspectiveEnd I accidentally skipped it, when Siege was new I was a bit underwhelmed by the size decrease of the figures, going from the "old" sizes to the new more scale-oriented sizes, I wanted to wait for a sale, and I actually really wanted Ironhide and Sideswipe and the Tetrajet Starscream, but Covid happened.. when Kingdom rolled around I knew I needed to get myself a taste of these new figures, now I'm sold.
As someone who prefers to hunt down figures in person this guy has been a nightmare. I still haven’t seen my first kingdom leader class figure in the wild.
I found ONE at Walmart, then a month later a pallet of Megatrons showed up and sat for another month. I counted them, 20 Megatrons packed the shelf until they quietly migrated to the cleareance aisle so I bought 2 more just in case one breaks
We just had a brainstorming session years ago, where we were trying to come up with something that was unique, and wouldn't pigeon hole us into a specific kind of thing to React to.

Ahh the first Kingdom figure I got. Everything you said are my thoughts except like I said on Twitter, getting the waist clip to go in on mine. It's a recent thing of it being a pain like that too so idk what happened, but I can ignore it when in either mode it is beautiful.
It's amazing that the beast head not only looks like an actual T. Rex and is realistic, but still pertains all of his personality.

Honestly I kind of do feel that, I of course want Megatron to look show accurate at least once in a modern setting but feathered Megatron makes sense.

If they were molded a specific way yes. But you could change how that's handled, and there are upgrade kits that fix it with separate parts.
You can rotate up those back kibble thighs to make his backpack more accurate and clean, and BW Megatron had a hand on his tail arm, it is accurate

He did, it was inside the tail, and if he removed it entirely you'd see it, but it usually completely hidden by the tail.

I had to pick him up off the Hasbro pulse, it said it was on pre-order but I guess that just meant in stock, because it shipped immediately.
I managed to find this back in February. I was shocked and immediately picked it up. I got pretty lucky because mine has no loose joints and has not broken. Though, to be fair, I have only transformed it once. Then I started hearing about how fragile it is and decided to leave it in beast mode.
Might be a good idea, it's probably his best mode, I've transformed it a bunch of times, and once on camera which is really hard. Just treat it carefully and it likely won't break.

Great review Perspective! Once again thanks to your reviews I have Kingdom Cyclonus on the way, and I’ve been looking for Inferno and Earthruse Runamuck. I recently started to watch Beast Wars for the first time (I wasn’t alive when it first came out) so I may start picking up some characters. Every store I go to has like 4 Optimus Primals so I may as well get one at this rate.

I really dig this figure, though I'm concerned about the tabs and joints on it. May I ask just for clarification just to make sure I'm on the same page, you're saying Megatron didn't have that hand in the show? I believe he does though. I don't understand the joint unless it's to plug in a weapon and move it out of the way from the stuff in front of the hand.
In the show he actually had both hands, though he was shown with the left one MASSIVELY more often, you could only see them when he didn't the tail on though because it completely covered his arm.
I have tried plugging a gun in that hand, maybe if there is absolutely no butt end to it, it might work but the one I did try just couldn't work, because it collided with the rest of his arm. Even if it did, he'd be holding it at a REALLY goofy angle.

I've always hoped the stories of it breaking are overblown, it's not broken on me since. But I do treat it very gently.

I think he was intended to be redone as the Jurassic Park Trex from the start and that's why they put so much effort into the Trex mode instead of making him simpler and less fragile. Since people will get that set for the dinosaur mode they want it to be as poseable as it is.
Well I mean in the show both he and Dinobot were very much Cribbing Jurassic Park, so my question is why is this one allowed to look like it did for the most part in the show as opposed to anyone else.
I just got the figure and it is really sturdy and solid I think the later issues of the figure fix the problems really well I shuck this thing and the legs stay still as a rock so I think the problems are from the older issues of the figure

Other than the Weird rubbery plastic and this is a damn good beast wars Megatron but my only other minor problem is he should came with a blast effect for the t-Rex head arms
Preferably something VERY long even the longest blast effects, BARELY protrude from his mouth.

Something hasbro should do is slightly retool these figures. It would be cool if they stripped the “realistic” elements from the kingdom BW figures and replaced it with show accuracy. Things like giving this megatron the correct Dino head, Optimus primal having an animation accurate gorilla head with his sculpted fur gone. Dinobot, even though his robot and Dino mode are very show accurate, in this proposed line, they could give him buffer arms, better Dino hands, more paint, and less realistic detailing for the Dino skin texture. Then they could give rat trap actual bronze arms and legs. Blackarachnea could have better colors. Airazor is really close with that bird head sculpt and feather texturing, so maybe they could try to retool it to make the bird mode look better. Instead of having the arms hang on the side in bird mode, maybe they could be on some forward butterflies do the bird doesn’t look so broad. I just think that since they have the base engineering for these figures down, it wouldn’t be a stretch to make them more show accurate. ESPECIALLY knowing hasbro and how they can never use one mold only once.
I feel like that's what they should have been doing with the Netflix versions of the figures. Maybe they will do a Gen Selects version like that.

Why did you say that his hand in the robot mode wasn’t accurate? It looks fine to me. Do you mean how it doesn’t have the same structure since the knuckles aren’t defined?
In the show when he had the tail on, you couldn't see his hand at all. You could only see it when he'd take it off.

Dude I've been the the 9 storse within 70 miles over and over for the last 6 months and I couldn't find one of these, and I could barely find Grimlocks.
I was a "Geewunner" for years before I loosened up enough to watch Beast Wars. And it was Megatron that won me over, fitting that the toy does such a good job with him, especially dino mode. WAY better articulation than a R.E.D. figure. :P
He is one of the best parts of that serries, and one of the best villains ever written, his plans are so genius, such a mastermind.
His altmode is better than a RED figure, ouch.

I literally just got this and I am not really big on beast wars but damn this is a good figure. It deserves the praise it gets didn't know its fragile but I think mines newer so hopefully they fixed that but imma use kid gloves just in case.

Yeah those leg were loose on mine as well, Thankfully I’d fix them by dropping a dab of super glue into the cracks of the joints and now they’re the right tightness, yessssss-

I received this figure today and I have no problems with it. I was very scared transforming him the first time, but he is nice and solid with only one leg a little loose.

I think the teeth thing _is_as safety regulation, but this figure is exempt because he has an _overbite_ instead of teeth that come together evenly. No Hasbro figures with an even jaw have front teeth. Same deal with the Jurassic park line.
That is such a weird thing for a Regulation to care about, why don't the side teeth count as well?
@@PerspectiveEnd you can slam the front down on your own tongue and it can look in place within your mouth? Not too sure, but I think that’s it. I went and checked every toy on the aisle trying to figure out this exact thing. The Jurassic toys with even jaws have no teeth or only tiny nubs up front. Across the board. Dinos with overbites are permitted to keep their front teeth.

I’m pretty sure the budgeting on this figure was split between multiple different release plans. They have the first release,l. Then the T-Wrecks Target exclusive repaint (something Target _pays_ to have). Then, and this hasn’t been announced but I am 100% sure of this - they’re doing a Jurassic Park crossover. Hell, the figure seems like it was designed AS a Jurassic park figure _first_ and then put into Beast Wars colors. I donno if they split sculpting budgets, reused previous work or what. But this Dino mode is 100% Jurassic Park.
My guess is, we know Hasbro was super warey of doing a full-on Beast Wars line, so they hedged their bets all over the place. Released Studio Series 86. Threw some of the SS86 figures _into_ Kingdom. Included multiple repackage figures as part of Kingdom. Included tons and tons of G1 characters to buttress the Beasties. And finally... they designed one of the central premium Kingdom figures specifically to cross pollinate with one of their other cornerstone brands. This way, they can protect against low sales by including a second revenue stream via the a Jurassic Park repaint. I’m pretty sure the unique, rubbery skin was included specifically so that it would feel more like a JP figure. It also looks like this thing might literally share tooling with JP’s T-Rex, AND the JP release could serve as an introduction to Transformers toys for new audiences.
It’s actually pretty clever. And it gave justification for all the newfangled bells and whistles. I’ve never seen a Transformer toy with features like this. The super clever upper left engineering. The spring loaded neck bits. The inventive tail posing design work. Hasbro really went all out on this figure. They might have even cheaped out on the Ultra Magnus (I mean, he IS only a retool, right?) specifically to increase the budget on this guy. I’ve been told that at Hasbro there is a budget for lines as a whole, or skews within a line, instead of just for individual figures. If that’s the case, Megs here is a shining example of how that can pay off.
From what I've heard the Twrecks IS the Jurassic Park Crossover? And yes the dino mode is 100% the Jurassic Park Model no if's and's or But's. If it were trying to be realistic it would have feathers.
I don't know why Hasbro was so unsure of the Beast Wars stuff. People have been begging for Decades and the stuff was Immensely back when it first came out.

@@PerspectiveEnd nah, T-Wrecks is a BEAST MACHINES sideline character, and a Target Red Card exclusive product. The Jurassic Park crossover figure is gonna be more akin to the Back to the Future figure, GIGAWATT, the Ghostbusters themed ECTO-ONE, or that weird X-Men jet transformer that you disliked so much.
The Jurassic Park crossover figure would be a break from the “Tradition” set up by those previous examples, because those were each heavy retools and I’m seeing this as more of a straight repaint. But I can also see how the Jurassic Crossover entered the discussion much earlier in the case of Kingdom Megatron and this resulted in a different approach to the character.
Jurassic World could have solved the feathers issue in one line of dialogue. Just have a scientist casually mention that these genetic cross breads (they aren’t REAL dinos!) were modified to remove feathers because audiences found them less appealing. Boom! Continuity and logic fixed! And a cool Easter egg for the more educated.
He does have a different expression and that's super lame, but at least there's that.
I think they did do that. I don't think they said they did it on purpose, but that it's just a side effect of them being based on frogs.
I couldn't find this guy but I do have his Jurassic Park variant pick that up for £10 brand new and I got his . Beast Wars reissue one the other day

PerspectiveEnd I accidentally skipped it, when Siege was new I was a bit underwhelmed by the size decrease of the figures, going from the "old" sizes to the new more scale-oriented sizes, I wanted to wait for a sale, and I actually really wanted Ironhide and Sideswipe and the Tetrajet Starscream, but Covid happened.. when Kingdom rolled around I knew I needed to get myself a taste of these new figures, now I'm sold.

Nah. I can see why they did it. It's not lazy or cheap, infact it's quite expensive. I agree with the worries about Longevity though.

As someone who prefers to hunt down figures in person this guy has been a nightmare. I still haven’t seen my first kingdom leader class figure in the wild.
I know exactly how you feel, I hate having to order Chug figures online but with this guy I had to.
I found ONE at Walmart, then a month later a pallet of Megatrons showed up and sat for another month. I counted them, 20 Megatrons packed the shelf until they quietly migrated to the cleareance aisle so I bought 2 more just in case one breaks
