Steam charts are legit only like 1/5th of the whole market though. You can tell the game’s alive by how instant the queues are, even with high MMR characters. MvS is POPPING on Playstation, but of course we only have/ use Steam charts data to determine if a game’s dying. Seems silly. Sea of Thieves has about 12k daily players on Steam, but when you account for both consoles, that number jumps to 300,000-400,000. Just food for thought.

When I look at Smash Ultimate I see a finished game. When I look at Multiversus I see more of a prototype, a beta, truly. It is fun to play most of the times but this won't make the cut forever.

what the hell is wrong with the rifts, the game lies and tells you the recommended gem level for insanity megaladog event is 7 but in no way shape or form is it possible at that level and i've seen youtubers enter the event with gem level 9 which is not possible unless you bought loads of gem xp boost, but they don't tell you they did that....its so disingenuous....these rifts are making me hate the game......how is it fair to fight 2 enemies at once on your own and they do 50 damage in one hit and they move around like cr*ckheads in perfect sync and you do 1% damage win 2-3 hits.
I have a great question if I were to speak to Multiverses and that question is, why is it so difficult to add a blocking feature while fighting like, blocking is a part of fighting that shouldn't be a hard concept to add also we need music that actually feels like we are fighting not this cheery wholesome music all of the time.
As a casual player I can list many things that I see wrong with this game. 1. The movement feels so much slower and much more boring than the beta. 2. Iron Giant exists. (WW too) 3. Being able to combo like in the beta is just gone now. 4. Multiplayer barely works and lags way too much. (The beta did not have this problem) 5. For players like me, playing on a ps4, it is nearly impossible with the amount of input lag and frame rate drops the game has. 6. Rifts are pay to play. (Not that they are any fun to begin with) 7. They had so much time to add ranked but instead made an item shop bigger than fortnites. 8. Every single issue mentioned in the video, especially character unlocking. (Watch the vid) And more... Honestly the beta was so much better in my opinion. Especially when it came to issues with lag on ps4. Content creators don't see this much because they are either pros at these games or own a good gaming console/pc.
I noticed multiversus feels like a game where the maps don't really matter if compared to other platform fighters. The characters just seem to be so mobile the don't have to even worry if there are platforms on the stage or not

I'm literally sick of the game gaslighting me into thinking I'm bad when I see you do these fin combos that I literally can't do with my setup. I'll have games where I'm clearly just slower than the opponent, whether it be because of the server or the map or whatever is causing this, like I'll get hit by something or someone will do something and I'll try to replicate it in lab after the game and I won't be able to do it like a combo I wasn't able to dodge out of or a sequence of doing a move and INSANTLY dodging after, but when I try I have end lag. I don't have a problem with ANY other fighting game with my setup, the only problem that I have is that im broke. I'm not trying to pay a monthly fee just to play online cuz gamepass ultimate or ps+. That's why I wanted this game to be good, having something to play until 2xko came out.
My biggest complaint: The removal of attack decay (opening the door for spam attacks). Attack decay made sense. If you’re in a fight and you keep swinging right punches, your right arm is going to get tired and it’s going to become less effective. Now you can just spam attacks endlessly to get the ringout. Pisses me off.

Bro finally someone brings up how terrible the training mode is, idk if this is just PS4 or what? But if I change like literally anything it has to reset the whole damn thing, like I can't even adjust my percentage without the training mode having to restart. Speaking of percentage, I can't seem to set my own or the cpu's to higher than 95, like after that it just goes back to 0.

The only one I don't agree with is the bringing back the old movement speed. I've gotten used to, and actually like the speed of the full release. I've had matches where it felt like my opponent just dodged constantly, and hearing how much worse it was in the beta is something that I don't want to deal with. But some changes I would like to see include a character pack where you can unlock every current and upcoming characters for a set price so I don't have to grind fighter currency. I also want to try out perks in training mode before I buy them to see which one I like. And in the post game screen, I want a notification that my opponent wants to rematch.
honestly great take. i agree with damn near all of it. they need to prioritize which is more important an handle it first imo. the beta was better in many ways imo as well. but its fixable if they do it quickly

Maybe because we waited a year for a few maps 3 characters 2 we couldn't play on launch the game wasn't playable on a console for the first week and still needed another week to get no laggy lobbies. Iron Giant was taken out some characters are way over tuned and I'm still missing cosmetics I had prior to the break.

I don't know why whenever people talk about bad characters in multiversus, it's never stuff like Garnet or Harley Qunnt but it's the gremlins characters or marvin, Like I don't care who you are those characters bang.
Also because of nostalgia and promotion with their new movies. The Gremlins were fun additions and while Lebron James is odd, I get why he was in the game.
I've watched a lot of the videos that talk about Multiversus. The vast majority of them aren't just hating and talk about its problems. Like how you didn't realize how bad the new player experience is. Multiple videos touch on exactly that.
Can confirm I have spent roughly $50-70 on gem XP just to stay up to date with the rifts to get Agent Smith early, and that only got me roughly lvl 8 gems. I don't know why I am like this lmaooo. Sucks this game is going this route where if you want stuff your just gonna have to blow so much money on the game.

I will say it’s too early to determine this, as player numbers and only about a month in isn’t gonna be the determining blow. People do seem to be overreacting about this all ngl. I’d probably say about 6 months in is when people can really determine if a game is truly dying. I’ve been through times where my fav games have truly died with bad releases, and it takes way longer than just a month in, usually about a year or a year and a half with way less recognition then Multiversus. Yes, this game won’t reach the record numbers that it had, but I will probably guess it will maintain an average level of players.
Yeah so, future warning to any aspiring game developers who wanna make a platform fighter, *STOP* adding RPG mechanics and progression systems to fighting games. It didn’t work for Street Fighter 6, it didn’t work for World of Light in Smash Ultimate, and it’s abysmal here with the Rifts in MiltiVersus. Killed the entirety of Season 1 for me
Many people have talked about why this game is going to die and it boils down to predatory monetization lying devs and poor progression. The core game is great, but no one is going to stick around for it and the players who support it the most are the ones who get treated the worst
No kidding the game is really really bleeding players and PFG doing absolutely nothing is what is causing this The delay of season 2, the amount of "content", the lackluster events, the BP are just some examples of what is causing this If PFG doesn't even lock in i give this game like maybe till december for the final nail in the coffin, once again another game failure... Kinda funny how NASB 2 actually had a better "chance" than multiversus but they also gutted themselves with the horrible price and roster (apparently to some people)
I don’t think a balanced roster is it, look at melee for example. It’s thriving and is SO unbalanced. But it’s fun, technical, was original, and everyone loves Nintendo IP. Multiversus is a rinse and repeat with worse gameplay and feel, so why not just play smash? All it has is better online, and a 2v2 focus.
People aren't hating on MVS for no reason. You might not agree with the criticisms, but they are still reasons nonetheless. Other than that, there's been more than enough at this point "MVS needs to do this to save itself" posts/vids since even the "open beta", so I'm not sure how you've not seen any of them, but I digress. Everyone, including PFG/WB, already knows what it can do to be a better/proper product due to the previously mentioned numerous posts/vids about it. The only thing needed to be done is all we as players really can do - wait and see if/when they decide to act upon it.
smash is lowkey unbalanced some characters just don't have good tools, and my personal main (inkling) just got worse and worse in the meta simply because new characters end up just being strictly better and with a similar playstyle. Multiversus struggles from the same thing, and i'd argue it sometimes doesn't matter because of how every character (except velma) could kinda just blow you up if you make a mistake. That's fun but then it becomes who can blow you up the easiest. Overall i agree with most of your takes but the comparisons feel a little off. I'm lowkey bouta drop this game because a wonder woman with 23 wins can just blow me up faster than i can and i end up losing because he got a bomb combo on mojojojo :(
i would have liked if every character had a special cool mastery skin for reaching lvl 15...because anyone else think character xp is insane.....i hit level 10 with joker and the thing barely moved in a week....the pay off for things in this game just isn't worth the grind they just reward you crappy perk currency all the time fml
Bro I hope this isn’t true, this is a really great game. My gf & I play it almost daily. We enjoy completing missions, working our way through the battle pass! It’s competitive, updated regularly. Idk I would really be saddened if it fades out.
I would dog you wit shaggy..if you can't effectively use him it's probably more about you..the game gives you a bunch of free in game currency to buy at least 6 or 7 characters so far so no reason to complain about that either. The hate is not because of no reason. I hate on it every day, but I play it everyday. However, the game is missing so many key components that existed in the alpha. The main thing they are lacking is communication, transparency and a fucking roadmap! Hopefully the mid season patch tomorrow will fix at least half of their issues. If not, they will die unless they release character after character after character

The only thing that caused this is no ranked mode, nothing else. This comes from someone who enjoys the game very much but stopped playing within the first week because ranked is the only reason I play brawlers. Im a competitive gamer and brawlers have always meant to be competitive. You take away ranked and you get a casual party game. If the game released with ranked I would imagine that the player base would be 5x - 10x larger then it is now. They are killing their own game, no surprise from a large corporate company. Unfortunately with the rate at which quality games are releasing you can't afford to make these mistakes then fix it after everyone already jumped ship. I don't understand how they have a full fledged balanced game and all the time between the first launch and this launch and couldn't add a gamemode that ranked some numbers. 🤷

I started the game about 2 weeks ago and the only thing i payed for was the starter bundle that came with the shaggy skin to get the battlepass. If you get the battlepass it aint that hard to unlock characters and get fighter currency especially if you do the daily and weekly missions or grind the rift mode.
I think Multiverse is worse for people who played before it was officially released. Idk How to explain it, but it was just better before. every character is slow now and the rewards work differently. It’s just different.
They should really allow players to make custom maps, both for casual fun and competitive. Then PFG could add the ones that ppl enjoy the most into the rotation during matchmaking

This game has officially been out for 1 month. May 28 2024 is the official release date. The year prior was beta. Also if you have a problem winning against BA it’s a skill issue. He is very punishable when he misses. Though i do agree his up square is too spammable and his neutral special does too much damage for what it is. Also for games like this there is no perfect balance if you want the characters to feel different. Some characters are going to feel better combo wise than others. No matter what competitive play are always going to pick meta. There are alot of characters considered A tier, and are perfectly fine in competitive play.
Youre incorrect in that people dont care about characters like you mentioned. I'm 48 and still main Velma because I grew up on a lot of the characters that are in the game. My UA-cam channel has dedicated clips of me using the character. I plan on making more deep videos on the game overall. In short I am actually having fun with the game still despite some of it's shortcomings and appreciate the studio for trying to make the best possible experince for this game as they release more contrent. There are more than the Steam players playing this game and so those numbers would not be accuratre on how many people actually play the game.

Maybe because we waited a year for a few maps 3 characters 2 we couldn't play on launch the game wasn't playable on a console for the first week and still needed another week to get no laggy lobbies. Iron Giant was taken out some characters are way over tuned and I'm still missing cosmetics I had prior to the break.

I don't know why whenever people talk about bad characters in multiversus, it's never stuff like Garnet or Harley Qunnt but it's the gremlins characters or marvin, Like I don't care who you are those characters bang.
Also because of nostalgia and promotion with their new movies. The Gremlins were fun additions and while Lebron James is odd, I get why he was in the game.

Can confirm I have spent roughly $50-70 on gem XP just to stay up to date with the rifts to get Agent Smith early, and that only got me roughly lvl 8 gems. I don't know why I am like this lmaooo. Sucks this game is going this route where if you want stuff your just gonna have to blow so much money on the game.

I will say it’s too early to determine this, as player numbers and only about a month in isn’t gonna be the determining blow. People do seem to be overreacting about this all ngl. I’d probably say about 6 months in is when people can really determine if a game is truly dying. I’ve been through times where my fav games have truly died with bad releases, and it takes way longer than just a month in, usually about a year or a year and a half with way less recognition then Multiversus. Yes, this game won’t reach the record numbers that it had, but I will probably guess it will maintain an average level of players.
Yeah so, future warning to any aspiring game developers who wanna make a platform fighter, *STOP* adding RPG mechanics and progression systems to fighting games. It didn’t work for Street Fighter 6, it didn’t work for World of Light in Smash Ultimate, and it’s abysmal here with the Rifts in MiltiVersus. Killed the entirety of Season 1 for me

Many people have talked about why this game is going to die and it boils down to predatory monetization lying devs and poor progression. The core game is great, but no one is going to stick around for it and the players who support it the most are the ones who get treated the worst
No kidding the game is really really bleeding players and PFG doing absolutely nothing is what is causing this
The delay of season 2, the amount of "content", the lackluster events, the BP are just some examples of what is causing this
If PFG doesn't even lock in i give this game like maybe till december for the final nail in the coffin, once again another game failure... Kinda funny how NASB 2 actually had a better "chance" than multiversus but they also gutted themselves with the horrible price and roster (apparently to some people)
I don’t think a balanced roster is it, look at melee for example. It’s thriving and is SO unbalanced. But it’s fun, technical, was original, and everyone loves Nintendo IP. Multiversus is a rinse and repeat with worse gameplay and feel, so why not just play smash? All it has is better online, and a 2v2 focus.
People aren't hating on MVS for no reason. You might not agree with the criticisms, but they are still reasons nonetheless. Other than that, there's been more than enough at this point "MVS needs to do this to save itself" posts/vids since even the "open beta", so I'm not sure how you've not seen any of them, but I digress.
Everyone, including PFG/WB, already knows what it can do to be a better/proper product due to the previously mentioned numerous posts/vids about it. The only thing needed to be done is all we as players really can do - wait and see if/when they decide to act upon it.
smash is lowkey unbalanced some characters just don't have good tools, and my personal main (inkling) just got worse and worse in the meta simply because new characters end up just being strictly better and with a similar playstyle. Multiversus struggles from the same thing, and i'd argue it sometimes doesn't matter because of how every character (except velma) could kinda just blow you up if you make a mistake. That's fun but then it becomes who can blow you up the easiest. Overall i agree with most of your takes but the comparisons feel a little off. I'm lowkey bouta drop this game because a wonder woman with 23 wins can just blow me up faster than i can and i end up losing because he got a bomb combo on mojojojo :(

i would have liked if every character had a special cool mastery skin for reaching lvl 15...because anyone else think character xp is insane.....i hit level 10 with joker and the thing barely moved in a week....the pay off for things in this game just isn't worth the grind they just reward you crappy perk currency all the time fml
Bro I hope this isn’t true, this is a really great game. My gf & I play it almost daily. We enjoy completing missions, working our way through the battle pass! It’s competitive, updated regularly. Idk I would really be saddened if it fades out.
I would dog you wit shaggy..if you can't effectively use him it's probably more about you..the game gives you a bunch of free in game currency to buy at least 6 or 7 characters so far so no reason to complain about that either. The hate is not because of no reason. I hate on it every day, but I play it everyday. However, the game is missing so many key components that existed in the alpha.
The main thing they are lacking is communication, transparency and a fucking roadmap!
Hopefully the mid season patch tomorrow will fix at least half of their issues. If not, they will die unless they release character after character after character

The only thing that caused this is no ranked mode, nothing else. This comes from someone who enjoys the game very much but stopped playing within the first week because ranked is the only reason I play brawlers. Im a competitive gamer and brawlers have always meant to be competitive. You take away ranked and you get a casual party game. If the game released with ranked I would imagine that the player base would be 5x - 10x larger then it is now. They are killing their own game, no surprise from a large corporate company. Unfortunately with the rate at which quality games are releasing you can't afford to make these mistakes then fix it after everyone already jumped ship. I don't understand how they have a full fledged balanced game and all the time between the first launch and this launch and couldn't add a gamemode that ranked some numbers. 🤷
I have been ranting that they need to bring back experienced difficulty on rifts, change gem xp system so you can ACTUALLY get to gl 9 make people get 50 character currency per online win and 25 per loss or more honestly and yeah more of the cast needs to be available

I started the game about 2 weeks ago and the only thing i payed for was the starter bundle that came with the shaggy skin to get the battlepass. If you get the battlepass it aint that hard to unlock characters and get fighter currency especially if you do the daily and weekly missions or grind the rift mode.

Also if you have a problem winning against BA it’s a skill issue. He is very punishable when he misses. Though i do agree his up square is too spammable and his neutral special does too much damage for what it is.
Also for games like this there is no perfect balance if you want the characters to feel different. Some characters are going to feel better combo wise than others. No matter what competitive play are always going to pick meta.
There are alot of characters considered A tier, and are perfectly fine in competitive play.

Youre incorrect in that people dont care about characters like you mentioned. I'm 48 and still main Velma because I grew up on a lot of the characters that are in the game. My UA-cam channel has dedicated clips of me using the character. I plan on making more deep videos on the game overall. In short I am actually having fun with the game still despite some of it's shortcomings and appreciate the studio for trying to make the best possible experince for this game as they release more contrent. There are more than the Steam players playing this game and so those numbers would not be accuratre on how many people actually play the game.
I also play all the other big fighting games and have been playing since the arcade days etc.
