It’s like the realization of Stanley’s long term master plan to make all of the plane sizes and make all of the rebadged, slightly lower quality planes for their competitors. They just didn’t realize that they’d be the ones ordering from the one main mother factory.
I know what you're thinking. "Did he take six shavings or only five?" Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I kinda lost track myself. But being this is an Amazon Basics #4 smoother, the most awful handplane in the world and would tear your face grain clean out, you've gotta ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?"

Words cannot express enough how true that point about quality control is. It's the very reason why I'm the only one allowed to inspect the OEM parts that the company I work for makes, and I'm technically not even in the quality department! 😅

Aside from misidentifying the country of origin, this was extremely good information. I won't ever be buying any of these. The working conditions in those Indian factories are often unbelievable for modern times. Often just dirt floors, people working barefoot, barely clothed and no AC in sweltering heat, open flames everywhere, sad men, rusty pig iron strewn about - just barbaric, ancient, primitive conditions, like something you'd see in the times of ancient Rome or Greece, with a few big, heavy, primitive machines that do the cutting and bending and shaping of materials. Nothing is done to any kind of code, and the materials are often embarrassingly bad.
You got to love a mind fart. Old habits die hard.

You're never lucky if you're buying from there. The full tolerance is fatally flawed. Don't even get me started because I'll tell you the reality, and you're not going to be happy when you hear it.
