I just discovered your channel and I've been watching your videos all day. Just out of curiosity, what are your top 5 recommended woods to make a wooden lure out of? I've heard you mention cypress and eastern red cedar, and I have easy access to cypress. Great channel and you have a new sub here.
If you can get cypress, use it. There's really no reason to use any hardwoods unless you just like the look of it. Cypress is easy to carve and sand and ,most importantly, it has a high strength to weight ratio. A strong light wood makes it easier to

do one with a loop on both ends of the through wire, then you can add an assist hook with a split ring instead of a hardwire hook
