“Dragostea Din Tei/The Numa Numa Song” (O-Zone) Romanian Folk Cover by Robyn Adele Anderson
All my videos are done live, using one take. Arranged by Robyn Adele Anderson
I am from Romania, her pronunciation is on point, is far from a native but my language is classified as a hard language for English speakers. Even though it is hard, she slayed it! Keep it up!
Wow. Romania ??? That's a beautiful country and language😍😍😎. I'm Guatemala and Egypt😍😍😎💙💖😇
Her pronunciation is really good, maybe except for "eu".
@@subkontrabasklarinet. Yeap. It is. Its a beautiful language💖💖💕😍😍😍. I'm still listening to it right now. Lol😍😍💯💖💞
@@subkontrabasklarinet there are few words here and there that are pronounced wrong but you can't ask for a lot since she PROBABLY doesn't have Romanian lessons
@@radupopescu7661 I'm American living in the UK and I've been learning Romanian now for (almost) two years. I work with several Romanians (and for a while was dating one, which is why I started learning, I keep at it even after we split because it's so beautiful). I think some of her "mistakes" might be because of the same problem I run into. If the first time I hear 'este' it's from someone from Bucuresti, then I hear 'esti' for the first time from someone from Timisoara, even if I pronounce them both perfectly (as I learned them), native speakers will invariably think I'm pronouncing one wrong. Yet, if someone from Bucurest is talking to someone from Timisoara the accent is different and those words are pronounced just slightly differently, but it makes sense in that context so it doesn't sound quite as wrong. When we learn from a variety of sources, people I've spoke with at great length about it have said it really sounds more like mistakes when you pull from different dialects in the same sentence.
My partner, who is from Bucharest, has classified Robyn's Romanian pronunciation as "acceptable". High praise given it's a tricky language for English speakers!
She really did good. Pronunciation wise. I didn't expected to Be that good. Song is a crap ,but i was curious about Robyn version.
It's hard. My girlfriend cringes at my attempts... But I mostly only know the food and cuss words. Which if you know Romanian means I learned the important parts. :)
@@sqmotorsports9230 Hah yes, I've been learning. Most Romanians seem to appreciate the effort though!
My introduction to Romanian was this song, actually. It feels like some bastard child of German and Russian. I dig it the most.
@@propheticchaos I think of it as a bridge between Latin and Italian, which in history is not too far off.
I would totally use this as the opening and/or closing credits song for an Oscar-bait romance movie set in a small Romanian town just to see if anyone notices.
"Hollywood is calling"
Midori Koçak so Twilight but actually respecting the source material?
At this point I have no doubts that she can read the back of a shampoo bottle while singing and it would be a masterpiece
Look up Robyn and the band, The Skivvies. She does an improv song using a brave audience member's texts for lyrics.
Gotta say this: not that the original WASN'T a masterpiece!
i think thats the best description of what i think about her. just wow. never could put the words quite as well tho,, thanks
Make it a bottle of Dr. Bronner's and we have a deal :D
@@themastermason1 Yeah she also did that in a TED talk when she was with PMJ
Patiently waiting for her version of Toss A Coin to Your Witcher.
Sasha Grey knows.
Robin should ask for a colab next time she is on Twitch.
in Polish! :P
@@Brettjnash Ha-ha, Sasha Grey + Robyn Adele Anderson: it will be LEGENDARY!!!
Oohhh my god yesss
@ Sławku, pewnie że da radę i po Polsku zaśpiewać. 😄
So let me get this straight, she's now performed in English, Spanish, Japanese (I think), Yiddish, Arabic, and Romanian.
I can barely sing in English without tripping over my words.
It's a lot easier to sing a foreign language than to learn it's meaning and compose it. If I remember correctly Abba couldn't speak a word of English. Still really like take a chance on me. 😉
Not poo pooing anything about Robyn mind you. They nailed it.
Instead of Japanese, that was probably Korean. But yeah, she´s awesome! :)
Yiddish was the most awesome!
clever girl
@@ladislavkovacik1198 Babymetal is Japanese. She covered one of their songs with Postmodern Jukebox.
“What's this? A song in another language? I'll sing it“ Robyn, probably
Yeah, remind me of Gentleman a lot
She sang email messages. I think it was some TED event, not sure exactly.. She can sing almost everything.
@@AndreyPutilov That was with Scott Bradlee of Postmodern Jukebox.
Why that also be me?
As someone whose entire family is Romanian, i have to congratulate you on how good your pronunciation is in this cover, especially since you’re singing! This rendition of “Dragostea din tei” as well has such beautiful melancholy to it as well, i love it. Cheers from Ireland!
Your Romanian pronunciation is remarkably good. I remember back in 2017 at the PMJ concert in Bucharest, you also spoke a few words in Romanian. Cheers!
Strong nostalgia of the past UA-cam, back when memes weren't memes.
Outstanding! The slow tempo in this genre makes the song shine in a whole new light compared to its original, upbeat self. As usual, you're killing them vocals!
Weren't they always called memes
Is that you, lorde?
@@nekofreekgirl I don't recall, but even then, I feel like the word 'meme' wasn't around during the time.
@@propheticchaos Uhhh, maybe..?
The word "meme" has existed since the 70s.
"in how many languages do you want to sing?"
Robyn:"YAS!"
She actually has the pronunciation way better than the former prime-minister of Romania, Viorica Vasilica Dancila, who is a romanian citizen, born in Romania from romanian parents and is a former high-school chemistry professor.
Respect, Robyn Adele Anderson and greetings from Romania!
Cel mai bun comentariu🤣🤣🤣
And on the same level with president.😂
also Romanian here! and her pronunciation is surprisingly good for an English speaker. ^^ I also just love the arrangement. really feels like Bucharest in its "Little Paris" era. lovely!
Marvelous. This is a close contender for winner on my list of really innovative covers you've done, topped only by that amazing Yiddish rap in 'Talk Dirty.'
Well done, ma'am.
And that one is still frequently in my list of suggestions. Probably because I keep playing it most of those times. That was amazing (too)!
I will overcome depression, find a man to love and we will marry under this song
I believe in you.
May you find love and happiness!!
💛💛💛 best of luck, my friend
Holy shit positive comments? Guess I'm just too used to hatred on 9gag/Reddit. Good on ya mates
Boa sorte parceiro
As a Romanian, though don’t care much for this song, still congratulate you for having a go at it. Very good pronunciation. You have small portions where it’s clear you are not native but that’s just me with a BA and MA in English. To the common untrained ear most wouldn’t even guess you are not native if they just listened without knowing your name at first. Heck.. I am sure that given the chance most of our Romanian women pro singers wouldn’t do the cover as good as you have.Hats down to you, Miss!
Beautiful cover!
Absolutely incredible! Perfect
I usually don't like slowed down songs but this is beautiful and as refreshing as the original.
Is there any kind of music you can't perform beautifully? Amazing!
I always loved this original song. This is infinitely better.
Thank you Adele for taking the challenge of playing this song! 👏🇷🇴
Congratulations, you've reached the end credits song for the internet.
I never imagined that I would cover this song, not without translating it, it was perfect
As an italian that worked and fell in love with Romania i can only say that she speak romanian sooo nice.. i speak romanian too but as italian native for me is more simple.
Cant count how many times ive replayed this....
Frankly, she’s got a hidden calling covering Muse. Seriously. Listen to that timbre and phrasing! Wow! Love this vocal.
I was young when this sont was a thing. Sounds like a Ghibli happy ending.
Why do I feel this song suddenly turns fancy when you sing it this way? it's magical...
Brought a tear to my eye. Can't understand a word and it still got me right in the feels.
This version makes me forget the song "Festa no Apê" (Latino). Thanks Robyn and friends!
Why do you wanna forget it? That song is great.
@@Algernon1284 Latino's version is a portuguese version of "Dragostea Din Tei" (original song). The song is good, but is a little boring...
Y a mi me hace olvidar el "Pluma pluma gay"
@@naelfer Jajajajajajajajajajaja! Muy buena!
@@Algernon1284 I don't wanna remember a party going so wild, an orgy is happening in my bedroom.
Oh this brings back memories of the early days of the Internet
That was possibly the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard
Your Romanian is amazing! I am actually impressed. Thank you for this cover.
Just wonderful...
Аж до мурашек по коже, песня молодости)))
Думаю, не уж то не одного русского комента нет.....
Hauntingly Beautiful
I am from Romania, her pronunciation is very good considering her native language, I would say she sounds just like most of my Moldavian friends so ye, on point
Who wants the O-Zone trio to see this?!
Or Dan Balan himself would be fine, I guess. He wrote the song lol
(I still believe the best version is when they all sing together though. Their voices have variety.)
I hope this cover will be soon on Spotify! Amazing ! Throwback to my childhood 🤍
Sending lots of love from Romania! 🤗
You should do USO, you’d brighten a lot of hearts
best song yet.......
And here is yet another thing I never thought I'd ever hear in my lifetime. She's amazing...
would like to hear yours version of Ievan Polkka :D
Love this! 😍 Your voice is so consistent and recognizable no matter the song!
Holy shit, your vocal range is really shining in this one!
Absolutely beautiful.. 💖🖤😍
This is surprisingly good. Even had me humming along!
By far your best vocally.
To see you do this in Romanian fills me with such happiness. Merci frumos Robyn!
thank you very much, I wish you success in what you do, I'm from Romania and I greet you, very nice of you to sing this song 🥺💗🇷🇴
Like, I can’t even explain how much you have transformed this song. It’s amazing and defiantly going in my rotation.
such a beautiful voice
BRAVO!!!
just when i thought she couldnt get more iconic
Robyn's Romanian is pretty spot-on, the title throw me off a little because Romanian folk music mostly uses flutes, cimbaloms and violins.
Great cover nontheless
i've been waiting for YEARS for this to pop up!!! 🤗🤗🤗
I have to show this to my Romanian Friend
She speaks better Romanian than some of the Romanian folks I know
That wink at the end though
O_O ....
....
....this is magic.
I like it. Reminds me a lot of what postmodern jukebox does. I enjoy these little twists on songs
I forgot about this song but used to know it perfectly in both the original language and English. I had to speed it up a little to get the old fun beat. Still gorgeous though
*Never doubt Robyn!* This is easily the best of your work imo! Such a song as well! If you learnt the language just for this song, you've put in 200% effort compared to artists nowadays! 👌
As a romanian, I'm very impressed with the effort you put into this. Awesome job!
I'm from Romania, and the accent is pretty good, Robyn :)
I absolutely love the spin on the time signature
Love love love this!!! The song translations is actually very beautiful and sweet and this version really captures that!! Thank you for bringing this out of meme status!! ❤️❤️❤️
Oohhh my!!!! You gave this song such an elegant style to that is, utterly refreshing!! Would love for you to do the English version too
I went into this expecting to be mildly amused. But this is actually a beautiful rendition. I'm impressed.
Bravo!!
Oh yeah!!
This is absolutely amazing. I feel like I just drop mushrooms! She’s undeniable.
J'apprécie beaucoup votre travail, C'est vraiment très beau.
Merci.
I love your work. It's really beautiful.
Thanks.
Listening to this cover and knowing the eng lyrics take a whole new meaning.
Beautiful. Thank you, dear lady 😀 💖 🎤🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Great.. thank you. I am from Turkey but my grendfather's father came from Romania to here. :-)
Incroyable ! A des années lumière de l'originale !!
Man, Robyn... that was just beautiful. Thanks for doing this song.
This is the song to try to sneak into your wedding for a slow dance. Let's see who's the first to notice.
Good idea!
Gorgeous track. Lovely work from all involved.
Hauntingly beautiful.
I would not give more than 10 seconds to listen to this cover. (I like the original). But Robyn makes it wonderful.
You are amazing!
Very beautiful! Love from 🇷🇴
This is absolutely gorgeous
Pozdrav iz Srbije.
Ok, not normally a fan of folk music, but I gotta say... Robyn... You nailed it!
I can't speak a word of Romanian, but I know all the words to that song as well as the English translation. The thought of a fat kid joyfully bouncing on the internet still makes me smile. You guys rocked it.
Magic cover, Robyn! 🤩👍🙋🏻♂️
Omg I bought this O-Zone CD when I was little and I pretended I knew the lyrics lmao they had some good bops on that album besides this one tbh
I still sing it at near 30 and I tell you that my pronunciation is atrocious and at times I sing the words wrong because I literally can't even understand the foreign sounds of the words.
OH MY GOD YOU CAN LITERALLY DO EVERYTHING I LOVE THIS.
I have not idea what she is singing about, but the style of this whole performance is great.
so beautiful....
I love it and as always amazing what you are able to do with the songs surprising, unexpected and beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Completely reinvented this song, it sounds bearable now 😅😎
Hahaha! I know.
Lol indeed.
Right in the memories :'( Where are those years I used to be young?
I would love to dance a Vienna Waltz to that awesome song
She nails the trickier words I'll give her that. Nice!
I loved this song and she has made me fall in love with it all over.
