  • Wow day 3! We make it out to the Polish Festival in Bronson MI! Big great event and we are aiming for a first place hook in the stock diesel class.
The big 6.0 dually has been putting in work the last few days and do we were ready for a good pull. We get to hook first and drop to make adjustments. In the end some controversy arises about the distances of me and another guy. Unfortunately the crew working the event were not prepared for such a controversy.
    WATCH TILL THE END!

Gps or not. You can physically see the start and end points. Where both trucks stopped. Doesn't take a GPS to see who went further.

Agree with you 110% it should have been up to the officials to go talk to the red duracrap. You can clearly see he is not even near the tree near the track.

Can’t you run air bags in the rear for the wheel hop?

    • @LeftLaneDiesels

Unfortunately for my class you can’t run air bags. If you have them, they have to be fully deflated and disconnected when you pull

Yeah they definitely should not be leaving that to the person that has everything to lose to make the decision. Either way you know you one that’s all that matters. Great job it’s a great learning experience for you and it’s really cool to see the beginning stages of what you’re doing with your life dude.

Very good learning experience, never expected to be put in that situation before. Moving forward I’ll know how to deal with it. Thanks for the support!

I was there, I am not positive the type of GPS system the sled was utilizing. I do know that at our hometown pull we contracted a surveyor to get laser readings off of a prism mounted to the sled, also not sure what system he was using but was reporting the measurements in feet down to the thousandths. Compared to the sleds GPS measurements it seemed much more consistent.

go to a triple rear shock set up

Situations like that are why they still should have the distance signs still up. GPS is not 100% accurate and never has been.

Agreed, there needs to be a redundant set up so people aren’t getting screwed. Especially in a game of inches.

You mentioned it was measured by GPS, im assuming it could only be survey or construction grade GPS......as a land surveyor i can tell you for sure that GPS will at some point mess you over on a messurement!!
Nothing is perfect forsure, but in measuring this type of distance a robotic total station is hard to beat.
Do you know if they were using a local base or running on a CORS network?

    • @LeftLaneDiesels
      @LeftLaneDiesels  10 місяців тому +2

I am unaware of what network they use.
There was another pull later that night that they had to go go to video review because the GPS was faulty.

Speaking of robbed. Should have been you first and me second at Henry county fair pull. Top two were 900-1100 HP trucks.
