I like how they showed off their separate singing voices in this one. Sometimes I forget that they can sing well individually even though they are literally singing together the entire time..idk if that makes sense lol
@Terri Seaton true, which is why I felt dumb when I first heard this because OF COURSE they all sound good individually when they're all singing their parts. When listening to this stuff though you just kinda forget sometimes that they're all singing though and it's not some backtrack their singing along to. Which I guess also shows that they're good at what they do too :)
It totally does. Frankly, a lot of people in choirs don't have stellar voices - that's part of why they're in choirs instead of singing individually (and I know this because *I* am one of those people, LOL.) If your voice is really good, you strive for the solos, for example. In Barbershop, where you have only 4 people, you have to be a LOT better - and I also know this from singing Barbershop (again, in a choir class, and with about 4 people per part instead of only one) and it's a LOT tougher to stay on your part (especially if, like me, you enjoy singing harmonies.) With about 4 people per part, I did much better as there was someone else singing my same part, so I didn't accidentally wander to another part. Again, from my own experience, I cannot even IMAGINE trying to sing alone, as the only one doing my part, when the people around me are singing such gorgeous harmonies and doing it so well. It's so easy for me to "wander" off of my part to a note that seems like it should be in "my part" even though it's not. So to be in a foursome like this, you have to be WAY better singers. You have to be able to carry your part, not wander, and balance your volume so you "fit in" with the overall harmony - a lot of things to think about at once. And because their voices blend so nicely, it's easy to forget, just as you said, that each of them are an individual voice, and they ALL have to be good in order to sound good together. I would (generally) argue that in each singing group (no matter the kind) you have some people who are relatively better and some are relatively worse, but I would say that in this particular group, it's pretty even. It's part of why their "sound" is so good. And I think that's generally true for Barbershop as a style. There's not really any room to NOT balance each other out and still have it sound good. So I think Barbershop inherently requires more talented (and better trained - note follows) people than other singing styles. So yes, you completely make sense to anyone who has sung anything with another person where they're singing a different part. Even if you're just doing "Simon & Garfunkle" with a friend! NOTE: I DID discover that you CAN learn some of this stuff by training - my barbershop class showed me that! I'm much better at following "my part" in small groups than I used to be, though I'm REALLY out of practice since I haven't sung with a small group in at least a decade now. I also had a choir director in HS who encouraged me to participate in a solo event, and her additional training really improved how I sing overall - as did the advice from the judges - I still use the techniques I learned from that one experience. So, if anyone out there reading this has any desire to improve the way you sing, as long as you can do two things to start with (carry a tune and be on the beat) I firmly believe that you can improve your singing ability with training. You may never be a fantastic solo artist, but you can seriously improve your skillset. If this is something you love, I heartily encourage you to go for it.

BRUH ONE OF MY FAVORITE MUSICALS AND MY FAVORITE BARBERSHOP GROUP!!!!
Ryan has always been the funniest to me and always will be. He will be missed.
I really wish these guys had their own channel where the regularly uploaded their stuff. I know theres a channel with some sketches from a few years ago
They are honestly the best
I know right
3:42 that laugh... jimmy carr in the audience!
I love this song already, and now I double love it because of newfangled four
the final punchline really got me, not gonna lie
Legitimately had water squirt out my nose during the ending
So freaking funny
JAY DOUGHERTY WAS MY CHOIR/A CAPELLA DIRECTOR IN COLLEGE AND THEY CALLED HIM OUT. IM DEAD 😂
The "they're pretty cool" at 3:13 is so wholesome? I can't.
Holy cow, it's the two things I love: the Newfangled Four and Avenue Q 💚
Know what doesn't suck? Their uncanny ability to keep a freakin' tonal center through all that! 😲🤯💯🎶🎶
I hope they cry all the way to the bank. I LOVE these guys. If they're not the best, nothing is.
Buying the CD tonight.
I kinda totally love it that Ryan and Jake held hands for so long before they had to
I love Avenue Q. I love those guys. This is epic
Ich habe selten vier Stimmen gehört die so toll zusammen passen!!!
I really miss these guys. Each a unique and substantial talent and when they come together WOW! I hope their bright comet comes together and passes by our planet one more time!
I’ve probably seen this 20 times & I’m here to watch it again😁
The big guy has a golden voice!
3:11
Jackson and Ryan say "they're pretty cool"
You guys always win the internet to me. I never watched barbershop till now. You are the reason I watch it now and you are now the most I watch and listen to on spotify!
New favorite NF4 song. I will be listening to this on repeat for the rest of the year
4:29 is making me melt (jake)
Jake and ryan holding hands at the beginning gives me life
Things in this that I love:
1. How much Joey seems to love the choreography
2. 1:46
3. "Sucks to be Ryan-" "Shut up" "-But what about Jacksan?"
4. The fact that Jackson is the equivalent of Kate
5. "So why won't we" "say my name right??" "No! :)"
6. Joey and Jake being the equivalents of Nicky and Rod
7. "His notes are never learned which makes me look really bad!"
8. "What's my note?" "DOO"
9. "I try to get rhythms right but sometimes I mess them up. Whoa..."
10. "Distinguished judges, and Jay Dowerdy :D"
11. "These are our judges and they don't like our jokes"
12. "It sucks to be us" "IT SUCKS TO BE USSSSSSSSSSSSS"
Brilliant piece of music written by Kohl and excellently performed. NF4 have to win it sometime soon
they finally did it
It sucks to be us now that they broke up :(
4:30 and 4:47 joey singing is so rough and crisp bruhh I want more joey singing
One step away from physically attacking the judges.
This is absolutely brilliant. It is comedy gold and full of great harmonies.
5:21
The judges: It's treason then
I want to live in a world where nf4 are a part of the AIC
Pedro Roque don’t we all!
They will be, some day. Don't you worry about that!
Wait 5 - 10 years, they'll defo be there by then.
These guys are genius artists. When breaking the 4th wall like pros.
Every time I watch these 4 I think of my mother who sang Barbershop ( Sweet Adelines). If she had seen these guys she would have loved them. You all are so much fun to watch and hear. I have such lovely memories of Barbershop and these guys just add more fun and joy. Judges need to do a better job, these guys are talented. love you 4.
I love the tag-team harmonies during the dialog - brilliant!
The best lads that got me into barbershop ❤
This was stuck in my head all day yesterday!
I suppose there are worse things.
