    Thanks for this Interview Dennis.
My first assignment in Mindanao was in Jolo and our camp was right beside the Army camp. Gen Luga was in charge and his Deputy was Col Cordero.
On my 1st night, our Camps was attacked and fighting only stopped when the Army's Mortar Team (on the mountain at the other side of the airport) started pelting the rebels.
Seeing the General looking well, puts a smile on my face.

I'm glad you made it out, pero curious lang ako why are you referring to the army as a separate element? Ibang branch kaba noon or were you part of a journalist or relief aid team na naka attach sa military?

Unlike the news who only shows celebs who make nonsense artificial drama. This is what Filipinos should be more appreciative n cocncerned. Unity as a national identity n also progress.

This was the time UK supplied arms and training to the MNLF via Malaysia when UK explored Sabah for oil deposits. The claim was a front to keep the side in mindanao with a conflict. The Sultanate only wanted more rent because of the oil discovered in Sabah.

I was graduating from HS in 1973 and we were the first batch of Martial Law HS graduates. At that time, this issue was already in many newspaper headlines. To hear now that our soldiers were only armed with pistols (38's) and shotguns says how rotten the situation of our soldiers were. Isipin nyo Marcos was already in power for 9 years at this time. And America's involvement in the Vietnam war was at it's height - tapos wala tayong armas to protect ourselves from an impending conflict?
I hope the situation is totally different now.

They proceeded to Midsayap and encamped. and with their volunteer civilian buddies proceeded to the frontlines. They did not know the place and fortunately for them, they found relatives since most of the populace came from the Visayas. They did not have problems regarding food and other logistics since Midsayap was proper ly organized under the leadership of the late Mayor Nicolas Dequina.

He was issued a Thompson as his Official Gun, during CHDF time but at home he owned a Carbine as his Personal Gun that he didn’t surrender during 1972 Ordered by late Pres. Marcos Sr.
