beautiful tank set up. Just wanted to say that it is nice to see something made out of a fish tank instead of having lots of random plants and un-natural set ups :)
If these fish survived for 1-year, you did a wonderful job in fish keeping. If they or some of them are still alive today, then you have done a fantastic job. I just setup a similar community of fish, and beside adding brackish salt to the tank I needed to know that mollies and platies can co-exist in the same water environment. Your tank is that proof.
Hi! Thanks for watching! Nothing special, I change 10% of the water every 2 weeks, but put the tap water through a Brita filter first. Secondly I only have fabric plants to minimise algae. Other than that, just keep the filter maintained and that's it.
Wish my fish were as slow moving as yours mine are all over the place never sit still lol. I have 1 sword tail 2 platys , getting 2 more though , 8 rainbows 5 male cherry barbs and 2 angels all in a 60 gallon. Two more platys maybe 3 and I'm done my tank is fully stocked , yours is beautiful btw
Enjoying the debate. It depends upon what you mean by thrive. Mollies, Swordtails and Platys kept in brackish water grow larger, live longer, produce larger fry and have heightened colouration. This has been my experience over forty years. I retract 'cannot live together' but still consider these fishes need brackish water in order to be at their best.
Hello! I have a tank like yours at the moment. My mollies keep breeding but I only find like two babies and I never catch her giving birth... I have just sorted out my Bacteria Bloom in my fish tank and now my water is crystal clear!
nice vid, i got some guppies the tonight that had kind of a pointed long tail they had green or yellow and the black on the outside into a point they was adults. the guy said they were guppies and was in with the guppies, I bought fish tank w/ all the setup and fish for valentines :) but u have any idea what kind of fish or guppy this could be its not a fry guppy i looked that up and its nothing like it... but this fish look awesome... u cant see it on my phone, i going to try and post video...
wow those fish are nice. I have a fish tanks and so far I have 6 neon tetras. Is there any fish that can live with them. I want like a colorful fish tank. Any suggestions on what kind of colorful fish that can be compatible with the neon tetras?
That is a beautiful tank! Your fish seem really peaceful with each other too. Are your mollies & swordtails, etc females as i know males can chase females? Just wondered if that's why your fish are so peaceful with each other. :-)
Michelle Seath He has a male black mollie, you can tell by the dorsal fin, and a male swordtail, you can tell by the pectoral fin. The guppies are also all male.
+Ryan Sultana I have a fish I don't know if it's molly or platy...its 2 inches long and is of black color and with little golden color on the face...ie 80% body black and 20% body golden....and it gave babies too...can u please tell which fish I have so I can get a male accordingly
Fishkeepers should care if species which aren't compatible are kept together as different species have different water requirements. The well being of the fish is paramount as I'm sure you will agree. As Celestial said, Rasboras like acid water, Mollies and livebearers hard alkaline water so they cannot be compatible. Just because a fish will live in a certain water chemistry, doesn't mean it should be so kept.
You are mixing fishes that cannot live together. All livebearers which includes Mollies, Swordtails and Platys need hard water maintained as brackish with the addition of salt in order to thrive.
You have incorrect information. Don't need brackish water, salt. Mostly just a good kH i.e. sufficient calcium and magnesium in water. Mollies can adapt to anything from sweet freshwater to pure salt water

People always talking about over stocked tanks.. if your filteration is good and you do regular water changes its fine!
