I’m seriously considering a tarp tent for my next purchase..either this or the rainbow Li….is it easy to do..what I mean is timescale and import costs…cheers.
IVE OWN A FEW TARPTENTS over the years all been brillant .. deciding which one to use on a up and coming world bikepacking tour .. thinking this model would be perfect
Probably best to make setup tutorials with the assumption of strong wind involved. Therefore proper staking out of the windward end prior to inserting the pole is necessary, as well as guying the pole asap.
Thanks for your comment but we have to disagree that staking before inserting the pole is the correct way to go. Doing so just makes it that much more awkward to get the pole through the sleeve. The wind will want to push the sleeve/pole to align with it which means that you would then be fighting the wind and the stake line at the same time.
This could very well be my third Tarptent. But are those loose straps for the crossing poles removable? Or at least that they could easily be rolled up and tightened? I would guess they flop around in the wind in a quite annoying way otherwise.
@@tarptent 👍Thanks! I just want to say I really did an effort to find out by myself before asking here. I was inattentive though, because just now when doing an image search for a second time, I actually did see one picture with a glimpse of a Scarp 1 without straps among the fifty first images! 😉 But I couldn't find any written information.
Yes. I wish they'd make the tent bag just slightly larger to allow for wet and windy days when you may not have rolled the tent in ideal conditions to fully reduce its volume.
Hey Henry that looks pretty decent. Are the end struts a bit shorter than on the original version Chris Townsend has (which is with me at mo) and my original Scarp 2 from ten odd years ago? It looks a smaller package. Nice vid thanks for sharing 😊
@@tarptent Thank you, I am not really sure, whether we are talking about the same. I know, the tent is freestanding in the end. I have seen some videos putting up this tent with the crossing poles. After all these videos and this video, I got the impression, you have to drive some tent pegs into the ground to be able to install the crossing poles. Afterwards you have to remove the tent pegs and than the tent is free-standing. In other words, can I install the crossingpoles without driving tent pegs into the ground? Sorry, my mother tongue is German.
I imported the scarp2 from USA 🇺🇸 to UK 🇬🇧 and have to say this tent is awesome, up along side the Hilleberg tents. Great bit of kit 👌

Yes, the straps feed into ladder loc buckles and are easily removable.

The last part - slide into stuff sack - that's the hard bit, especially when it's wet and windy and your hands are cold!

Is it possible to put up the tent without stake, using crossing poles on a stone underground?
Yes, it is freestanding with the optional crossing poles.

@@GUFSZ You do not need to put in stakes to be able to install the crossing poles
could you pitch the normal scarp this way too?
Yes
Is the pouch not ultra?
I don't understand the question. The pouch?
@@tarptentI assume he means the tent bag/sack
