Let what Maurice said simmer for a moment and realize that they wrote Tragedy and Too Much Heaven in ONE afternoon. "Hi honey, how was your day at work?". "Fine. We wrote two songs that will be legendary and still being discovered and popular in 2020".

They changed their sound with the times. Their song "You Win Again" from 1987 was AWESOME, and their ballad "For Whom the Bell Tolls" from around 1995 was EPIC!!! Listen when you get a chance - you will NOT be disappointed!!

The BeeGees were not a disco band. They jumped on the disco bandwagon in the late 70s because of its popularity and they did so very, very successfully. They don't really belong in any specific genre and it's probably legit to say they were their own genre. Fabulous band.

When they were approached to come up with some songs for “Fever”, they already had these songs written for their own album. So I guess that they already had the sound and with the release of Fever, it merged into the Disco era. They themselves never considered themselves a Disco band.

The guy talking in the video at the end of the song was George Martin the producer of the Beatles records and sometimes described as the “Fifth beatle” due to his involvement in the production of their albums and singles

  • @DUGGER1947

The guy at the end that Dereck said he didn't know who he was, was none other than the legendary Sir George Henry Martin. He was an English record producer, arranger, composer, conductor, and musician. He was commonly referred to as the "Fifth Beatle" because of his extensive involvement in each of the Beatles' original albums.

Dana says- My bestie had this record when we were kids. We'd play this song and jump back and forth from her bed to her sister's bed a few feet away, every time they sang the word 'tragedy'. Not too difficult at first, but by the last third of the song, we'd get quite a workout. By the end, we'd fall down on the beds, laughing our heads off, and trying to breathe. To this day, whenever I hear this song playing in the store, or an elevator, and I get the biggest urge to jump on a bed. :-)

Nights on Broadway is another great one (pre Saturday Night Fever). Early falsetto for the group. I recommend the live version from Midnight Special. In this live version, you will see that all the brothers can do falsetto. The high parts are sung by Maurice (pronounced "Morris") during live performances because Barry is singing lead with a lower voice. Often Barry and Robin sing together in unison as a single lead voice, with Maurice doing the fantastic harmonies. He instinctively knew exactly what to add to create their beautiful rich sound.

I agree completely and it shows how they actually recorded the original. The higher notes reached in 1979 were really nicer than this version and that's why Barry's falsetto isn't quite the same as the 1979 version. I highly recommended.

Hi! This performance is from 1997, if I'm not wrong, it was for a TV special, that explains the comments. You should listen to the album release, it's just mindblowing! ua-cam.com/video/WFd-Yk73U_o/v-deo.html Just to clarify, there's no key change, just a tension is created, and then you hear the explosion back to the chorus. There's also this video showing the composition sections to this song, and also Barry doing the explosion: ua-cam.com/video/42Mk6OJ5ZwQ/v-deo.html

    Hey Dereck!
You said in a previous video that you love 90s Eurodance House music?
So, you should watch a 90s singer called "Gina G". She had a really good danceable House Music song called "Ooh Aah just a little bit" hehe

The dissonance on those chords in the refrain is just everything.

90's Bee Gees is so underrated. Especially Size Isn't Everything.
