The cable is for charging the battery when its inside the camera. You can view the battery level on the screen. If you need extra batteries you can get these amzn.to/40prinV

Hi when I got this the app was NOT connecting to the camera..any ideas? troublshooting on this one?
You out have to go to the Wi-Fi on the camera and connect to it on your phone to be able to connect to the app
