Austin dug up this shirt from his childhood, I believe it was from seeing them in concert as a kid if I remember the story correctly. I love that the whole film is Home free fan girling over oak ridge boys and oak ridge boys are just in awe of Home Free's talent!!
The Oak Ridge Boys released Elvira when I was 6. It played on the radio about every half hour. They are my all-time favorite group and Home Free is right up there just a smidgen below them. The Oaks are all between 74-84 years old and are still wonderful and touring. This is the first Home Free video I saw and it drew me into the rabbit hole. Welcome to being a Home Fry!
That old Gent Is Joe Bonsall *chuckle he is still touring with his bandmates and Joe was born in 1948. Bass Guy is Richard Sterban Born in 1943 and was backup Bass with JD Sumner for Elvis Presley and left to Join Oak Ridge Boys ! Duane Allen Born in 1943 Lead since 1966 has formal Operatic training William Lee Golden born 1938 is the baritone has joined and left and rejoined this last time back in 1995 they all still tour and even have side projects. no slowing these guys down and all of these men have mad respect for each other! It shows every time they get together.
The Oak Ridge Boys bass singer is Richard Sterban. He was shaking the seats with this song in the 1980s. The Oaks took Home Free under their wing and was so happy to sing with Home Free. They told Home Free that they hoped "Elvira" was good to them since because of that song, they each were able to buy a house! 😂 Austin says that the Oak Ridge Boys are like their dirty uncles, joking with them and laughing all the time. And, they still do shows! Amazing guys! And yes, you need to check out Home Free's version of "Honey, I'm Good"!!!
Home Free did another collaboration with the Oak Ridge Boys and Jeffery East on a Christmas song called Beautiful Star of Bethlehem. Jeffery plays a guitar in it, and that song brings tears to the eyes because it’s so wonderful
Grew up in the 70s & 80s listening to Elvira from the Good Ole Oak Ridge Boys as Mom was HUUUUGE fan. 😊 And DAMN they sound as GOOD as when 1st heard this song. What a GREAT compilation with Home Free! And LOVE to see your joy hearing it!! 🥰
Oak Ridge boys wrote the song. This is the song that put them on the map. It bought a few of the member's homes back in the day. Great OG Country band.
The Oaks are heroes to HF bigtime, Tim's right hand is his bass hand and he'll always let you know when he's going to hit the basement. As for knocking you off your chair, try Nessun Dorma with Austin and Rob singing opera...I'll put $5 on Rob knocking you off the chair.
For the chair-falling: ROB singing with Austin on "Nessum Dorma" ('Two Country Singers TRY Singing Opera' on Austin's channel)!!!!! I'm just tellin' ya! 😁😉😳🤯
The man with the beard is William Golden. I have been lucky enough to hear The Oaks twice in concert, they are wonderful. Funny. Technically nearly perfect and just have so much fun with the audience. The Oaks have a huge list of hits that ou can get totally lost in - if you dare.
I love how you "get" Home Free. Who they are as musicians and who they are as people. You actually pay attention to the music and don't just sit there day dreaming, or checking your phone or whatever like some of the reactors do. You actually hear and recognize what's happening. Oak Ridge Boys are legendary and still sound pretty dang awesome, and Home Free are legends in the making. The level of respect between these two groups is heart warming. I'm usually not a fan of collaborations, but there are exceptions and Home Free have collaborated with some epic artists. Thanks for the great reaction. Being especially a fan of Adam Rupp, I really loved his performance in this. I cant's wait for you to react to Adam's drum solo. (2015, red plaid shirt) His raw talent and skills are really showcased in that one. Have extra socks handy, because it will knock yours off. And by the way, Adam Rupp arranged "Honey, I'm Good."
Great reaction! Yes, the Oak Ridge Boys were definitely musical heroes of theirs, so doing this with them was incredible. Honey I’m Good is another great one. Other upgrades to to add to your list: Castle on the Hill Take Me Home Country Roads One Man Band I Can’t Outrun You One Voice In the Blood Blue Ain’t Your Color and so many more! Home Free never disappoints.
The Oak Ridge Boys are one of my favorites. I have seen them at least ½ a dozen times in the 80s and 90s. They are not an Acapella group. They started as a Southern Gospel group and morphed into a country group with the current lineup. They still tour. This was a phenomenal collaboration.
One of the most endearing qualities that Home Free has is their desire to work with famous country groups or other great singers and pay tribute to them. These guys (along with others) who they sing with were influences on them as they were growing up. Their collaboration with Don McClean on American Pie, and with Alabama on Christmas in Dixie are both really great.
Speaking of Mr. beat box Adam, I heard or read that the Oak Ridge Boys had to be careful where they stood, cuz they were getting soaked with Adam and his spit beatboxing! I laughed so hard at that! 😂
Another homfredian gem. Gotta give credit to the Home Free men. Nobody does collaborations like they do. They just shine - but never overshadow their guests. Truly wonderful.
I love Tim's expression throughout this video, because he was fulfilling a dream. He had done an interview over 10 years before that this was his dream to collaborate with the Oaks! Btw, your "dayum" sounded so Texan. I think this was Austin's shirt when he went to see them as a teenager.
I grew up listening to the Oakridge boys. They are not Acapella, but had a band behind them. Country boy band If you will. Crazy talented. Comedians too. Your comment about 2 generations of home free is so right on. Check out more of the Oakridge boys, you won't be disappointed with anything they did. Love your energy. Peace out, grandma Shirley.
"Elvira" was a huge hit for The Oak Ridge Boys many, many years ago. As one member said in an interview, they never met the lady but Elvira bought them all houses. You are right about the tenor's voice being remarkable for someone over 60. Basses are forever, but tenors fade away usually. If you watch Tim, he sometimes beat boxes (remember the Butts Medley?) along with or in place of Adam, so sometimes you are hearing both. Not to diminish Adam's abilities--he is a phenom. Definitely watch one of the videos of him demonstrating his beat boxing. HF are definitely huge fans of ORB, and seeing them together is a joy.
When Tim was growing up he was a tenor. He always wanted to be like Richard Sterban from The Oak Ridge Boys. So when he got to actually sing with them was an true honor. The Oak Ridge Boys are mentors to Home Free. They have gone on the stage with them and everything. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
I was 3 when the Oak Ridge Boys released this.. I always heard "hellfira" and that has stuck. 42 years later, I still say hellfira. This collab was just awesomeness personified for me.
Just FYI: Geoff Castellucci assisted with the arrangement of this song. And Layne helped (or did the arrangement) on another HF song (can't remember which one right now). Both Rob and Tim have done guest shots in VoicePlay videos. It's nice that they've maintained their friendships since the Sing-Off days.
Austin has done some individual stuff which is truly amazing try his version of tears in heaven but have tissues ready, for a cute one try his wonderful world and for astonishing try his version of bring him home from Les Miserables ❤🏴
This is a great collaboration between Home Free & The Oak Ridge Boys. "Elvira" was a huge hit for The Oakridge Boys in 1981. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a younger version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group. They are so talented yet very humble guys.
Elvira was originally a big single hit for The Oak Ridge Boys in the eighties. Everyone remembers the chorus. Many Americans knew what the reference of the chorus was. The line "Hi Ho, Silver!",refers to an old western tv show, The Lone Ranger, from the fifties that played on Saturday morning for children,. It was based on an old radio show from the thirties.. The hero was a masked man with a Native American sidekick. They fought wrongs and badmen in the West. Silver was the Lone Ranger's solid white horse. At the end of every episode, the Lone Ranger would be on a rearing Silver with the line "Hi ho,Silver, away!". Then the two heroes would ride off into the sunset to the sound of The William Tell Overture. The actor who played Tonto was Jay Silverheels, an actual Native American., The arrangement of Elvira in the video was done by Geoff Castelluci of Voiceplay. Geoff had sang a cover of the song earlier with that arrangement. Tim asked permission to use Geoff',s arrangement. One of the great thing about the acapella groups is the cooperation and lack of rivalry. Robb is comparing beards with the Oak Ridge Boy with the long white beard in the video. When they weren't filming, Robb told the man that his wife wouldn't let him grow his beard longer. The Oak Ridge member told Robb, ,"You got a decision to make.", ,
Great reaction! The Oakridge Boys have been great friends and mentors to Home Free for many years now. They did another song together with Jeffery East called Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem. Here’s a list of the Oakridge Boys Duane Allen (lead singer) 80 yrs old Joe Bonsall ( Tenor) 75 yrs old William Lee Golden (Baritone)84 Yrs old Richard Sterban (Bass)80 yrs old Sang as bass for Elvis for 2 yrs 1971/1972 Tim does give a warning before he drops low bass watch his right hand he will lower it
I'll add a second chair-drop: 😂🤯 "Adam Rupp Drum Solo" (wearing red flannel shirt in thumbnail) is older, but the absolute best quality to hear his actual "drum" work! Don't turn it off when he stands up - there's more! Lol
These are the originals....Oak Ridge Boys had a megahit with this song. I love the two groups together. There is so much love and respect for one another. I love your HF reactions. A couple other collabs you should react to are "American Pie" with the man himself Don McClean and " Children Go Where I Send Thee" with none other than Kenny Rogers (RIP) . They are both amazing.
If you really want to see Adam's shenanigans I highly recommend you check out Listen to the Music and Ain't Going Down Til the Sun Comes Up - his stamina astonishes me every time I hear them! For his drum solo, I recommend his 2019 Tifton, Georgia performance and his 2022 Strawberry Festival show. It's incredible to see how much he has honed his craft over the years. I haven't looked through your playlists yet to know if you've checked out some of Adam Chance's solo work and collaborations, but I think you would love A Whistling Lad, which he performs with The Hound & The Fox (who are astonishing in their own right and a completely separate rabbit hole to explore). Enjoy!! Love seeing you explore these guys, they're so versatile and are all genuinely wonderful people!
Oak Ridge Boys... ❤ idolized. Well deserved LOVE THEM. I bawled at the news Joe Bonsall passed away this year (July 2024) (He was the qst gentleman of the O.R.Boys you heard and commented on) they are not spring chickens... but the many times I have seen them live... they SEEM ageless.
The Oak Ridge Boys are one of my all-time fave groups❤ You should listen to the original Elvira, Richard's bass will shake you😉 And yes, you NEED to watch Adam's drum solo!!! Chris sings a beautiful version of Amazing Grace. His vocals will shock you. Great reaction as always❤❤
This is one of their earlier videos. All the way on the right is Chris Rupp. He was one of the co-founders of Home Free. When Chris left in 2016 (I highly recommend Chris' channel) that is when Adam Chance came in. Chris Rupp also did an incredible song (solo on his channel, and acapela with Home Free) when he left called Movin' On. Even if you don't react to it it is definitely worth a listen. Chris' solo version has him playing the piano, and he also did an acapela version with Home Free. Also Austin's solo channel and Tim's solo channel is incredible.
Isn’t this great? I can’t tell you how many parties (in my misspent youth😂) ended up with a wall shaking oooh-papa-oooh-papa-mow-mow at some point. How can you not join in? And how adorable is Robb comparing beards?🥰
Austin grew up in a small southwest Georgia town about 40 miles from my hometown. His dad sang southern gospel so Austin was raised in that tradition. The Oakridge Boys have their roots in Southern gospel.
By all means do Honey I'm good,... BUT PLEASE make it a double reaction, the first being the official video and the second being a live version entitled "Tim Faust's vibration" It is posted on youtube by Dana Griffin on May 1 2016. It will give you a real taste of what a live Home Free concert is like. also as a side note that the camera was mounted near the sound both, yes mounted not hand held. Looking forward it it and ENJOY!!!
If you really want to have Adam’s beatboxing knock your socks off while watching them do a song with the song’s original writer and singer, check out their cover of “American Pie” featuring Don McLean! I’ve heard he almost passed out from going for almost eight minutes straight.
You can't go wrong with any of the Home Free videos. I could highly recommend listening to their solo music as well. If you want to truly fall off your chair listen to Tim's version of Will still love me tomorrow /stay.
So much this. You WILL fall right out of that chair. And plummet THROUGH the floor INTO the Earth's crust, plunging all the way to the core, back OUT the other side, and into orbit.
They also do a medley and Christmas show with Alabama. Also, they did a sing off with another a cappella group doing I'm Alright from Caddyshack... excellent! Elvira is a regular on their tours; very popular.
Chris Rupp said that on the Elvira part they had their girlfriends and crew join in to add more volume. He also said Austin bought that T shirt at a concert when he was still a kid.
Austin dug up this shirt from his childhood, I believe it was from seeing them in concert as a kid if I remember the story correctly. I love that the whole film is Home free fan girling over oak ridge boys and oak ridge boys are just in awe of Home Free's talent!!

Home Free filmed a Christmas special a couple years ago and invited The Oak Ridge Boys and another older group, Alabama to join them on the show.
Duane Allen Born in 1943 Lead since 1966 has formal Operatic training

they all still tour and even have side projects. no slowing these guys down and all of these men have mad respect for each other!
It shows every time they get together.
Live drum solo is a MUST do!
I love the fact that Elvira was the name of the street. ;)
You'll love their video of Honey I'm Good
Love watching your reactions! More Home Free soon, please!
They were singing with LEGENDS, but the Oak Ridge Boys were not a cappella, just great. They were all fan boying, lol! What an honor!
The Homefree guys were singing with the musical heros of their youth.
Chris rupp and Tim foust singing angels among us
The Oak Ridge Boys bass singer is Richard Sterban. He was shaking the seats with this song in the 1980s. The Oaks took Home Free under their wing and was so happy to sing with Home Free. The Oak Ridge Boys say that they consider Home Free to be their successors in that no other group does what Home Free does.
And before he sang with the Oaks, he was singing bass with Elvis.
Home Free did another collaboration with the Oak Ridge Boys and Jeffery East on a Christmas song called Beautiful Star of Bethlehem. Jeffery plays a guitar in it, and that song brings tears to the eyes because it’s so wonderful

Wonderful reaction, so glad you appreciate the amount of amazing talent gathered there.

Yes it was an old tour shirt of the oak ridge boys it’s now framed in his home
The man with the beard is William Golden.
I have been lucky enough to hear The Oaks twice in concert, they are wonderful. Funny. Technically nearly perfect and just have so much fun with the audience.

In the Blood
Blue Ain’t Your Color
and so many more! Home Free never disappoints.
Oakridge boys are not an acapella group. They all grew up idolizing them. It was Tim's lifelong dream to sing with Richard Sturban.
This was recorded for the anaversity of the songs original release by ORB. The ORB asked HF to collaborate with them.
The Oak Ridge Boys are one of my favorites. I have seen them at least ½ a dozen times in the 80s and 90s. They are not an Acapella group. They started as a Southern Gospel group and morphed into a country group with the current lineup. They still tour. This was a phenomenal collaboration.
They still sing gospel.
This was my introduction to Home Free, I have loved the Oak Ridge Boys for years and will get to see them live in 2 weeks.
Tim does warn you - watch his right hand - he will show you where his voice is going!
Love The Oak Ridge Boys. Been a fan for a long time. Have seen them live about a dozen times. So great to see them with HF.
You will love the video 'Honey I'm Good'! It is great!! 😂😂😂😂😂
I’ve loved the Oakridge Boys forever and them with Home Free is awesome
This was Brilliant...Love Home Free so much..🏡🆓🏡🍟
You'd probably also enjoy seeing Home Free sing Children Go Where I Send Thee with Kenny Rogers.
I think it was Chris who appeared with VP In their ACA Top Ten Bro Country (it’s beena while since I watched it)
How did I miss that?! Thanks,. I'll look it up.
Great reaction ❤ The Oaks 😍Home Free 😍
One of the most endearing qualities that Home Free has is their desire to work with famous country groups or other great singers and pay tribute to them. Their collaboration with Don McClean on American Pie, and with Alabama on Christmas in Dixie are both really great.
This was such a great compilation between Home Free and the Oakridge Boys. They killed this. Love your reaction!
I'm over 50 and I grew up with the Oak Ridge Boys, so...I imagine they're a group they were fans of.
If you want seat-removing sounds, react to Tim Foust's Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay.
Speaking of Mr. beat box Adam, I heard or read that the Oak Ridge Boys had to be careful where they stood, cuz they were getting soaked with Adam and his spit beatboxing! I laughed so hard at that! 😂
You already fell off your seat when you were watching my mother told me and Geoff hit that low note
Another homfredian gem. Gotta give credit to the Home Free men. Nobody does collaborations like they do. They just shine - but never overshadow their guests. Truly wonderful.
Tim does give you a warning when he is going low his right hand goes down with his palm down. 😊
The Oak Ridge boys are the Originals for this song
I’m 60 this year and I grew up with the Oak Ridge Boys
I love Tim's expression throughout this video, because he was fulfilling a dream. He had done an interview over 10 years before that this was his dream to collaborate with the Oaks! Btw, your "dayum" sounded so Texan. I think this was Austin's shirt when he went to see them as a teenager.
These 2 groups have such affection for each other! And having them sign Austin’s shirt is just so cute!
Still, one of my favorite covers of HF with feat ICON stars. Much for you to enjoy
I grew up with The Oak Ridge Boys. I can’t think of any song I didn’t like of there’s. This collaboration of this song is awesome!!
I think Rob is also something of a beatboxer. I know he did the beatboxing when Adam was doing his Gangnam Style Guilty Pleasure.
They can all beatbox to a certain degree.
May I suggest watching: 9to5 - beatbox breakdown. It’s a live version filmed by an audience member. I think there’s a couple of videos out there
maybe someone else spoke in the comments, but I definitely wrote about this geoff arrangment for the guys)) such a heartfelt video turned out.
Austin had the shirt framed and it's hanging in his house to this day.

I believe Layne helped with the Butts remix.
They also did the completely silly voiceplay + homefree as zombies vs hillbillies
Austin has done some individual stuff which is truly amazing try his version of tears in heaven but have tissues ready, for a cute one try his wonderful world and for astonishing try his version of bring him home from Les Miserables ❤🏴
ps voiceplay have also done Elvira live it’s cool ❤
The Oakridge Boys are so very good. Love they are collaborating with Home Free. All these boys are so talented.❤️❤️❤️
This is a great collaboration between Home Free & The Oak Ridge Boys. "Elvira" was a huge hit for The Oakridge Boys in 1981. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. I have always thought of this video as a symbolic respectful passing of the torch ❤
They are All Amazing, Love Your Reaction !!

Great reaction! The Oakridge Boys have been great friends and mentors to Home Free for many years now. They did another song together with Jeffery East called Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem. Here’s a list of the Oakridge Boys
Duane Allen (lead singer) 80 yrs old
Joe Bonsall ( Tenor) 75 yrs old
William Lee Golden (Baritone)84 Yrs old
Richard Sterban (Bass)80 yrs old Sang as bass for Elvis for 2 yrs 1971/1972

"The Timquake Hand."
@@KaaSerpent Exactly 🙂
I love your reactions my dude! 🤣
I'll add a second chair-drop: 😂🤯
"Adam Rupp Drum Solo" (wearing red flannel shirt in thumbnail) is older, but the absolute best quality to hear his actual "drum" work! Don't turn it off when he stands up - there's more! Lol

If you watch home frees meet in the middle video Austin has that shirt framed behind him in a scene
They just never miss.
YESSSS!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉 This song is an instant glorious party!
So glad that VoicePlay and Home Free are great friends. Chris has his own channel on UA-cam.
I know it's not Christmas but if you want to hear a Homefree masterpiece......"Do You Hear What I Hear" will have you picking your jaw off the floor !
I absolutely agree! "Do you hear what I hear" is a must, regardless of the time of year. It was the Master mind of Adam Rupp.
You will also get some solos from Chris.
Ohhhhh definitely a must do! ❤
There is also a video where they sing together but more like the original Oak Ridge Boys version.
The Oak Ridge Boys are one of my all-time fave groups❤ You should listen to the original Elvira, Richard's bass will shake you😉
And yes, you NEED to watch Adam's drum solo!!!
Chris sings a beautiful version of Amazing Grace. His vocals will shock you.
Great reaction as always❤❤
I've been a fan of the oak ridge boys since the 70s
You’ll love Honey I’m Good. Rob is lead and two of their wives have cameos in the video.
Best shout-out at the end. Arranged by Tim Foust, Geoff Castellucci, and VoicePlay.
The Oak Ridge Boys KNOW who THEY are!!!!!
The Oak Ridge Boys were a vocal group, not a-capela.
For a good video with Chris... check out Long Black Train on his channel
Their cover of Keith Urban 's "Blue Ain't Your Color" it's awesome
yeah that what country was in my day. The Oak Ridge Boys played at my church in 1989.
Oak ridge boys are everyone’s hero’s
You are hysterical in your reaction!
For Chris Rupp, I would recommend Long Black Train which is just him and Tim Foust singing all of the parts.
Or I'm Moving On.
I also suggest Angels Among Us
Oak Ridge Boys are Legend! 💖 There's also a video of HF & The Boys singing Beautiful Star of Bethlehem at Christmas. It's beautiful!
My mom would tell us a story about my brother singing this as a little kid!
Yes, this 👆 . Or on the other hand check out Misty Mountain with Peter Hollins. Buckle up, buttercup.
So much this. You WILL fall right out of that chair. And plummet THROUGH the floor INTO the Earth's crust, plunging all the way to the core, back OUT the other side, and into orbit.
Challenge accepted! I'm betting Tim's Doo Wop song Will You Still Love Me/ Stay will get you on the floor!!!!!
Most of us grew up on the Oak Ridge Boys, Statler Brothers, Alabama, and Marty Robins. Welcome to our wayback machine.
They also do a medley and Christmas show with Alabama. Also, they did a sing off with another a cappella group doing I'm Alright from Caddyshack... excellent! Elvira is a regular on their tours; very popular.
Chris has some solo work!! I'm sure there will be other comments that give you better suggestions but he is great!
You might like to react to Home Free with the Oak Ridge Boys performing "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem." Austin takes you to church in that one.
Chris Rupp said that on the Elvira part they had their girlfriends and crew join in to add more volume. He also said Austin bought that T shirt at a concert when he was still a kid.
Terrific reaction! You should check out their collaboration on Beautiful Star of Bethlehem.
