ABOUT THE ACADEMY
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is the world's preeminent movie-related organization, with a membership of more than 6,000 of the most accomplished men and women working in cinema. In addition to the annual Academy Awards-in which the members vote to select the nominees and winners-the Academy presents a diverse year-round slate of public programs, exhibitions and events; provides financial support to a wide range of other movie-related organizations and endeavors; acts as a neutral advocate in the advancement of motion picture technology; and, through its Margaret Herrick Library and Academy Film Archive, collects, preserves, restores and provides access to movies and items related to their history. Through these and other activities the Academy serves students, historians, the entertainment industry and people everywhere who love movies.
Why can't the Oscars go back to an opening like this?
I prefer this years opening
I don't think they have any multi-talented actor/singer/dancer types left in Hollywood.
Beautiful Ann- Margret ❤️
The Best Intro Ever in The Oscars, Yes Ann Margret Did Close The Show. She Was Fantastic
7:45 Richard pryor telling truth
Ann-Margret! Thank you, Academy!
7:42
Richard Pryor. He took it there.
Ann Margaret so glamorous u don't see anymore n Hollywood
Was very lucky to see ANN-MARGRET perform her live shows @ Cesars Palace and The Hilton ~ such a wonderful and exciting performer , dancer , singer ~
One of THE BEST shows i have ever experienced ! Love ANN-MARGRET ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ann Margreth voice sounds like pro singer Dionne Warwick voice!!!
Three women from this era will always be timeless, Ann Margret, Sophia Loren, and Raquel Welch. I love these videos of a time when I actually enjoyed watching the Oscars. I am 60 now and haven't watched them in a very, very long time. I miss the old actors/actress of those days.
Igualmente yo. A mis 57 recuerdo esos espectáculos musicales de los Óscar
Great to see Richard Pryor again!
The President's speech about The Magic Of The Movies could have been given any and every year. I'm so glad they cut that shit out in recent decades.
Chevy Chase looks good here
He was in his early 30's
Quite yummy
And he was hysterically funny
the disconnect between the quality and freshness of ceremonies back then and the sheer quality of films they honored is staggering. These are so staid and old, the films were so good, though.
Chevy chase face look like Ryan Gosling i think!!!
I think you're thinking of Ryan Reynolds. Ryan is very like Chevy in appearance and manner! 😊
Pryor is telling the truth in a funny way. That describes the entire essence of his comedy genius.
I do not watch the Academy Awards! I used to back in the 70's. Today it is all actor's lecturing politically! I do not respect any of them!
10:08 , what a shocking moment!!!
Was is fake of real?
@@missinginbc
Fake... Chevy was a pro at falling. lol
chevy chase was known for his pratfalls, did them pretty much weekly on snl. he was just playing to type there. funny moment anyway, though!
See snl and chevy's famous falls.
10:07 most interesting and funniestpart of the video ...#livingforlovevevo
She is beautiful Elvis should have marries her
Chevy and Richard were brilliant 🎉. So y won’t Oscar let Jim Carry host? 😢
What?! No red carpet arrivals for the 49th Oscars?! That's gotta be the late Bill Friedkin's doing!!!!!
It was that created a big bro ha ha with the fans.
@@nymet2454 And that was why it drew the lowest ratings ever for any Oscar show at the time (but probably way higher than the 23.6 million viewers in 2020).
Yes there was a red carpet. I attended those awards. I walked down that carpet. Right in front of Sylvester Stallone
7:45 This is what you're hear for. Watch till the end after that it's entertaining.
No, that's a bunch of crap!
Please keep putting these old Oscars & interviews like those on peter ustinof. How about Charles laughton? He was fabulous. Please..thank you
loved this. she also closed the show
I wish Oscars would post A-M's performance of "Bachelor in Paradise" from 1962.
Me too. Have heard so much about that performance.
Indeed
could you please put that performance of Ann Margret doing bachelor in paradise..that made her star..why isn't anyone letting us see that great performance with that great voice.....if Ann Margret reads this please let your fans see that wonderful performance.....this would be a good time to show it as so many Vietnam vets appreciated you speaking for them......you have these people wanting to see it ....a man who fought in Vietnam and goes to my church couldn't stop talking about you...let people see 1962 academy awards ..you dancing and singing bachelors in paradise and dedicate it to all the Vietnam vets..he says their are a lot dying in hospitals right now...I want to go help and teach them art and can't get in..as I called the no.you said for us to call..all the woman talked about was the memorial...I said I want to help teach them art....she didn't care about the ones still alive...Ann Margret help them.get to the ones that are sick...
Please play that year of her singing and dancing
Ha! That is exactly what lead me here. I've heard it's absolutely sensational.
Saw her around this time in Vegas, great entertainer.
Loved the orchestra here!
Chevi chase look alike Ryan Gosling
Gorgeous Ann-Margret, that face, body, hair and talent!!!! WOW
Funny how everyone here is saying Richard is GREAT... but your current black actors and actresses speak on this and you get UPSET and speak negatively on those actors... 😆
TV nowadays could never
Academy Awards . From 1975 to 1980 I worked on Monday nights and missed them all. Have seen them all since.
She is sublime. Pure talent.
I miss Richard ❤
This is how you do an award show opening. No comedians or talk show hosts telling bad jokes or roasting people, just a beautiful number done by Ann Margaret. She had class, beauty and talent. No
Siempre hermosa.
10:07 Scene Stealler...!!!
❤
When does someone come out and tell Ann Margaret she’s running too long?
10:07 is Chavey fall down??? OMG
If I had access to a time machine. How much fun would that be to pop into some of the old awards shows?
5o years later and a lot have changed since
10:00
Streisand sang Evergreen and won an Oscar!
it's so beautiful to see a world not infected with wokism. I loved the entertainment world when i was young.
is that year turning point the movie came out
is that Elizabeth Taylor at 14:40?
georg Jones That was Liv Ullman I think
Liv Ulman
7:43 most important
Nope!
@@jessiem276 yes it is Karen!
Snow a white opening waaayyy better
and the honorary award 😣
Richard Pryor is a genius. Hilarious stuff.
Schlitz! Yummy
Why did Richard shave?
He was doing a film called Blue collar at the time.
coca cola everywhere
She looked 45
She looked young!
The worst intro of the Oscars EVER!!!!!!!
I agree
I detest Chevy Chase. Just what was his appeal?
I have no idea. I like the national lampoon vacation movies but not because of him. He's bland and boring
First
Richard Pryor was cringe.
No he wasn't. It's only cringe to folks like you who take it personally to say that it's cringe. Every else who was in on the joke laughed.
Ann-Margret was such a showgirl, not a singer, not a dancer. Ridiculous - but Richard Pryor...SO WONDERFUL!
Priscilla Wilson Ann-margret is still a hot act and a sweet genuine kind person. Men want her and women who are honest with themselves want to be her.
I agree
last time Chase was funny
When was the first time?
I never saw his appeal
