I was going to comment about the fact that the button box is secured by 4 screws and the wheel itself by just 3.
I had to purchase the M5 countersunk screws separately which seems to be the norm. I guess they include them with the Sweden wheel, but not the Monte Carlo wheel.
I ended up using 3 x M5-.80 x 16 for the wheel to the hub and 3 x M5-.80 x 20 for the PBMR ring to the wheel/podium hub.
Just received this wheel, so Iv just discovered Fanatec did not include the 6 counter sunk screws!!!! Why would they not include them? Where did you get them from Christopher?

I’m glad you have finally talked about the Fanatec issues, though I think you should have covered it months ago and made it it’s own video and not “hidden” it within another video.
We’ve been quite active on the subject on Twitter and Reddit since the beginning, and had intended to talk about it more formally back in December in our DD+ review, which was meant to go live before Christmas, but is still held under embargo because of the delays. We’ve actually re-recorded it twice now to keep it up to date with the latest info just in case the embargo lifts unexpectedly.
I decided back in November not to make a dedicated video as I was conscious of making the situation worse by causing a mass of people to email customer support to see if their order was impacted, which runs the risk of pushing wait times out even further.
Had I known back then that the delays and customer support issues would last this long, I may have done things differently. But I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on their senior management behind the scenes, which I feel is a better use of my influence than making a video that potentially makes things worse for people waiting for a reply from customer support. Keep in mind this also impacts people waiting for repairs/warranty claims, etc. I don’t want to stop anyone racing.
@@boostedmedia Many thanks for taking the time to reply. Your points are very valid. I have had three orders severely affected by their change of warehouse over the last 6-8 months. I now have many thousands of pounds invested in Fanatec equipment and cannot change brand. If I was starting now I would not use the Fanatec system. Thank you for all the videos and the work done for the community.

As always thank you will for being upfront and honest and addressing the issues. I’m one of those customers who’s still waiting for the shipping. But if you wouldn’t have you would have had hell on your hands for “trying to cover it up” from all the disgruntled customers or ex customers
The reason as to why the WRC is using the standalone sequential instead of the wheel mounted is because the WRC made it mandatory like two years ago in an effort to save costs.
I guess it makes sense. An F1 wheel is like £70000. The kinds of Cosworth wheels used in prototype racing were around $17000 last time I checked.
Of course it's hard to compare those with rally wheels but it's obvious that the electronics raise the price by a lot.
To start things off, as usual, great presentation and editing, the production is top-notch. You have my support and I think you do great for the community.
As you may know I am someone who focuses almost entirely on Rally content. My thoughts on this conglomeration of products is it has almost zero value in the simracing market. I was excited when I heard there was going to be a focused rally product coming from Fanatec and I was very disappointed when I saw this was the result. It serves a meaningful purpose on a real top-level rally car I'm sure, but there are no features about this barebones wheel hub that have any practicality that can't be achieved with nearly any other wheel mounted button box. It's purely pandering to give a sense of authenticity, but it's to a large fault. They should have included controls to allow for easy in-game menu navigation (Funky switch) and paddle shifters at a minimum. Nobody is going to buy one of these for thier sim rig and then walk out to thier garage where they have a Rally 1 Ford Puma sitting there with no wheel attached.
I was considering buying this product when I first learned of its existence but after learning more it severely underwhelmed me.

I ordered first in October when there were issues, got it in 4 days. Ordered again on blackfriday, received everything in 2 weeks. All good so far
I ordered a few items on Black Friday and received them second week of January. I also ordered the rally module, podium hub, and APM 2 weeks ago but that’s a preorder since the hub isn’t releasing till late Feb for the states. Plan on putting it on a cube controls GT-Zero I have. Can’t wait!!
I bought the magnetic shift paddles at the same time I bought a podium hub with the regular QR2 and the rally hub, unfortunately the steering wheel (R383 Logo) was sold out, so I bought it separately from a racing wholesaler online. Which worked very well for me. Tateen is fantastic to use, especially for EA WRC which I play with the most. As for the times, it worked really well for me, no big wait when I ordered things like fans at home according to the website, Ordered December 8, delivered December 18.
Thanks for addressing the customer service issues prior to reviewing the product. I have received my order which was placed on November 24. I received the order on January 19. I didn’t enjoy the wait, but the gear is fantastic.

He's actually using the DD+ in this video oddly enough. At least that's what it says in the software section. MAde me kinda salty seeing as though I've been waiting for months to get one after I ordered it.

Nobody should be mad you say it’s starting to get better, cos if it is. Then you can’t grumble.
As much as they’ve lost me as a customer going forward. I wouldn’t want to see them vanish. As that’s Just harsh on all there employees.
Maybe Just get some actual management that aren’t yes men. Can acknowledge there issues and out someone in place to sort a real customer service team.

I am from Cologne in Germany and I preOrdered the DD+ for the full amount of Money at the 19th of October 2023, a few days later I selled my DDPro cause I was paying 999€ for the DD+ and I am not a finacial superGuru :D now I am waiting and waiting and watiing :D
Cancelled my Fanatec order due to pi** poor communications and slippage on the ETA compared to when I ordered a bundle. After watching Wills Asetek La Prima review bought that on Thursday past and got the kit yesterday...... Well Happy. Fanatec fanbois stil thinking silly customer service and extended wait times are acceptable.
Last week I placed a rather big order and hot it within 3 working days. So looks like they are indeed back on track.
I got something during black Friday and had no issues, it was one item so maybe that made it easier. I also recently ordered one item and ended up receiving it before I was initially expecting to. As a second to this, I also pre-ordered a csl dd during wave 1 and had to wait 9 months to get it, and it took about a month to get my csr pedals in 2014. So I don't expect speedy shipping from fanatec in general.
Ordered 6 different products around BF. I would say everything shipped and arrived in a decent time except for those including the QR2 which were delayed, but I've also received those orders. The DD+ I ordered on 11/23 and I got notice yesterday that they are finally shipping my base after more than 2 months waiting!
I ordered the CSL DD READY2RACE MCLAREN ELITE BUNDLE on the 10th. Everything was delivered on the 18th not bad at all for me thankfully.

I have been waiting for this for so long, but have moved away from Fanatec to an SC2 Pro. Hopefully Sim Racing Machines will update his conversion kit to cover this button box.
Bought the replica with the XBox V2 club sport hub and couldn’t be happier. This is my go to wheel for everything. I just wish the podium hub was Xbox compatible!
So... even if we buy this fanatec product, that doesn't mean fanatec will actually ship it, right? Won't they'll just take our money and ghost us (again)?
Fanatec's issues are now well known all throughout the community. I am still waiting for my order from the Black Friday offers. All I ask is that at least Fanatec answers the emails with real persons giving me an approximate date of when to expect the order even if it is a few more months giving me some hope but I do wish I get it before arthritis gets the better of me rendering me unable to use my sim equipment as I'll be 64 this year lol.
@yamyam60 Now this I can clearly relate to being almost 64 myself & with arthritic hands from yrs of running Power Saws in the Forest Industry.
Started running an R9 DD base last year.
That was after 20+ years of running Logitech MOMOs, a G-27, a T300, and a TS-XW which produces just over 6nm of torque.
My hands hurt far more running a DD base. Even with the overall strength turned lower than what the TS-XW ran at .... there's no denying that.
However, the fidelity felt while using a DD base & the quick response time produced are imo the 2 main benefits of owning one anyways.

US order, currently all items in my order are available/ready to ship on the website; however, one item in my order has a Jan. 3 pre-order tag and has had no updates in the 3 weeks since even after sending I think 3-6 emails/support inquiries/Facebook messages….other than the rehearsed PR lines of sorry…issues….blah, blah, blah
Will, please don't take this the wrong way! I'm sure you have no clue who I am but as a fellow content creator in the space I truly appreciate what you have done over the years in helping bring many eyeballs to our great little hobby! Your product is top notch and I'm well aware of the effort and time it takes to produce such content. It's great to see you've finally discussed these issues about Fanatec. You are one of the biggest (if not the biggest) sim racing content creator partnered with them who promotes their products. I'm nobody so take this with a grain of salt but I believe being in the situation that you are in, you have the responsibility to give your viewers this information even if it means it may impact your ties with the company. I don't think it would either way but honesty is the best policy imo. That being said, personally I think you should have discussed it much sooner in a stand alone video (which can totally be done in a professional manner without trashing Fanatec). You are typically a very honest person but I feel you pushed this one off too long. As for them getting it back under control, I can't really agree with that one based on what I've personally still been seeing as of the day you released this video. It seems its location based whether or not you will receive timely shipping and most people are still not getting replies or updates to emails. I'm still a big fan of you Will and maybe one day I'll be big enough to collaborate on something with you! This steering wheel is epic and it's a shame their customer support is bad because their products are fantastic! Peace & Love my friend!

Just got the Clubsport DD, took just under 2 weeks to receive. Absolutely fantastic, just annoying you have to pay extra $$ to get the QR2 on the wheel side.
Long time Fanatec customer here. I have to say Fanatec’s communication is terrible right now. I ordered QR2’s and a wheel recently and received the items within a week of placing the order. However I’ve reached out regarding a question around the wheel I ordered missing the QR1 and I’ve yet to receive a response.
I’ve also reached out over a month ago regarding a defective handbrake 1.5. Fanatec is not responded back.
Overall I’m happy with my Fanatec products, and I will continue to be a customer. However something needs to change at Fanatec regarding their communication response times.

Got a CSL DD R2R bundle in the mail just 2 days before Christmas.
It took exactly 1 week for Endor and AusPost to collaborate my parts to my doorstep.

I think the playstation licencing is the only real issue Aussies are facing, but that's just my observation.
Anyone in the UK seems to suffer from getting the item from another country.
But for Australians and therefore New Zealand, it seems safe from my experience, as long as you're ordering parts that don't rely on pending Sony licencing.
Again though, I don't want to sway people either way, just saying my experience was positive and personally I'm very happy with the equipment, including the QR1 honestly (mine is tight and seems good)

Great video as always, but anyone who buys Fanatec these days is taking way too much of a gamble in my opinion. The price of their products is a joke when their customer support basically doesn't exist and they're not exactly known for reliability in the first place. Keep up the good work!
I had a great black friday ordering experience with them, taking advantage of the dd2 deal, with all the trimmings. Although local shipping from Victoria may have helped. from what I've seen the real issues are in europe

The wheel is cool but for $262US less you can buy the simagic Gt pro non K 330mm wheel $438US or $500 cad with your choice of leather or alcantara for even cheaper.
I feel like fanatec just don't offer good value for your money vs the build quality of there wheels if your especially if your canadian, taxes and duty fees on fanatec gear is really high. They only make one wheel and this button box that have back lit buttons and just as a example. Seems like they forget that there's other companies out there selling sim gear, unless you need ps5 compatibility where there clearly the only good option out right now thankfully I'm on PC.

I got the button module separately and purchased the leather r383 champion from amazon. No more Alcantara for me. Its a good general use wheel.
Great video. I appreciate your honest reviews. The price of this add-on is shocking though. I wish these products would get little cheaper with more competition in the market. There are many companies in the DD market now, even Logitech, but the prices are still high. I get that it’s expensive to start, but I already have a good setup and It’s hard to justify paying half of what I paid for my wheelbase and wheel for this add-on, even though it looks awesome and I want it. What’s your opinion? I would would love to know what you think about the DD market and where its headed and do you think that we see a shift in pricing anytime soon.

So, if you are using the universal hub, do you need to remove the buttons from the hub?
I think WRC outlawed paddle shifters on the steering wheel, they require mechanical link to the gearbox now. That's why they use the gear stick.

A company only shows how good they are when things go a little wrong, and Fanatec has shown they suck.
Is this an alternative to the likes of the endurance button module on the 320 world challenge wheel of would it be odd for the likes of Gt racing etc.
Or how would u compare to the endurance.
I can vouch for the fanatec improving their shipping services. I ordered a qr2 in september and it never arrived as delivery failed (it never came) and was sent back to germany. Every email i sent to fanatec took them 2 weeks to respond. Last week i finally got them to deliver the product (i asked for a refund, and they said they could send me the product with expedited shipping, and i said yeah because i do want the qr2). I do think the cogs are finally turning at fanatec but this has been a disaster for their reputation. I am now finally actually expecting a delivery, its been disgraceful ngl.
A common theme with them seems to be that they can miraculously ship your product out when you threaten to cancel, but otherwise ignore you until you do.

I always get my Fanatec Shipments within 1-2 weeks. I guess i'm one of the lucky. I live in Texas.
I have my eye in a 80s steering wheel but no hub have qr2 included in the price. Till that happens I’ll consider buying another wheel
I just bought this Rally module to put together as yours shown.. but there a issue with Cursor drift to left hand lower corner.. Mine has it and makes driving car impossible ... a known issue with firware .. suprised you did'nt have same issue

A rant, not against Will, but against fanatec: Fanatec has still NOT send my november order or responded to ANY of my inquiries. They send a generic email in december with a NOT WORKING link to cancel the order. They hold my, and a lot of peoples, hard earned money hostage, and I completely lost the joy in simracing because of them, as every time I start up my fanatec wheelbase and my favorite sims FULL of fanatec commercial banners I get reminded they have more then 500 euros of my money and they have the complete disrespect not to answer any of my messages!

What is the advantage of the Podium Hub over the Clubsport Universal Hub v2 ?
In my experience, the main issue with Fanatec has been with the sony licensing on the DD+. I just canceled my order, we'll see how long that takes.
Not compatible with clubsport hub v1 but as it has a USB port I wonder if with a conector may work…
You mentioned that the usb-c is a proprietary connection, so I'm assuming it wouldn't work with a usb-c to usb-a adapter into the Asetek QR.
I'm wanting to upgrade from the old Fanatec CSL to a DD wheelbase and the Asetek wheelbases are looking really good, I'm just not fond of their wheels/button boxes. I was really hoping I'd be able to use an OMP wheel I have with this Fanatec rally module, into the Asetek QR and a Forte wheelbase. Anyone have thoughts on if this would actually work, or does the Fanatec stuff only work with Fanatec hubs/wheelbases?
I'm fine with getting the Fanatec replica steering wheel... But Fanatec isn't fine with having them available.

That aside, Fanatec needs to make more button plates. And also make some lower cost options. They should have a Podium hub with a button plate and a steering wheel for $400.
Also design a button plate that'll work with the CSL universal HUB. As crazy as this sounds, they could make a button plate that utilities the CSL Hub's switches, and gives you additional encoders and funky switches, while reinforcing the button pods and shifters while the hub is fully extended.
And they need to get the QR2 as the standard, ASAP! Having to pay an additional upcharge for the QR2 and then wait for it to arrive is maddening.
I already wasnt a fan of Fanatec when I started simracing in November 2022 in a Thrustmaster TS-PC 488. The only Fanatec distributor, Simulation1, has a habit of charging way more than Fanatec by itself, like sometimes up to 800 CAD above. So not only you are being robbed by Fanatec through their notoriously painful shipping, but you are also being robbed by the only distributor in the country because he sells at a mark-up.
Now, any slight hopes I had that Fanatec would beat the allegations and become good got completely anihilated when I heard that Fanatec just take orders and never deliver them. And given how my Simagic order only taken 2 weeks instead of 4 months, its even less of a no brainer.

Solid review, I’ve been enjoying mine since getting it in December.
One small thing not mentioned in the review (edit: it was): The buttons are swappable, and the Button Module Rally also includes about 10 blank buttons so that you can use unlabelled ones or buy some clear stickers with custom labelling. It also comes with a text sticker set to help you label the encoders.
Also, these buttons have a very slight blue tint to them so if you set the LED to yellow it’ll appear slightly green.

Either way, looks like they’re the same ones the BMW wheel uses. Not seen any Etsy printed versions yet but 10mm stickers are just as good.
I’ve bought a second one of these modules this week, to pair with the Cube Controls GT Zero. Will be more versatile and upgradeable than the Fanatec Formula V2 or McLaren GT3.
I don't know what's the point of promoting Fanatec products since they don't deliver and have so bad customer service.

I got my Rally Sweden wheel on time after I pre-ordered at black friday.
@@flamingronin you're lucky....it took me more than two months to get a shifter and after several messages. You can see in forums people are still waiting for more than 3 months. Ridiculous
With QR2 Standard and QR1 Lite you need to wait till the end of march
my expereances with fanatec stasrt with the GT DD Pro i pre orderd id and got zero gustomer suport, next was the QR2 same thing, but here is the kicker my last perchas csl V2s got email within 2days and should have them by wednesday, so my theroy is DO NOT BUY ANY NEW PRODUCTS from fanatec coz you wont get it or have any corospondance from them
Products are fine generally, its their customer service and communication which are inadequate. People waiting months is just ridiculous.
are you guys updating your fanatec dds? Last year mine got bricked and hade problem for week before i got it to work, So I am pretty scarred to do any updates :/
Ive done updates on fanatec bases hundreds of times at this point. Only had a problem once where it soft bricked but I was able to force it into firmware update mode by holding the power button for 10 seconds and it flashed fine using a different USB port after reinstalling the drivers.

Unfortunately the wheel detected , I try reinstall Software , Downgrade , update , just blink light on universal hub for a second !

I've made two orders with fanatec in the last month and recieved them both in less than two weeks. i'm in the UK so that includeds Brexit issues.

got my black friday order this week.
I order my first ever order on BF 24 November 2 weeks later I had in my hands everything works fine but I didn’t order a base so I did do that a couple of days later, did I order the DD+ but unfortunately it was delayed multiple times and after the last delay I know that I had to do something so I have order the GT DD Pro on Friday 19/01 and it has arrived on 24/01.
So what you are saying is true they are fixing their problems.

I own no FANATEC products (thank God considering), but am part of the Sim Racing Community, have been for 20+ years & just hate seeing "us little people" get the shaft.
All the posts & comments on the net about this support many are getting screwed up the ass in one way or another.
If all of you dealing with FANATEC issues regarding deliveries etc want to help each other figure out if the service has truly improved EVERYWHERE, maybe state what part of the globe you live on in your posts as there are areas way worse than others.
At least it will then give those in "still affected areas" a little more insight before pulling the trigger on something only to find out FANATEC now has YOUR money in THEIR bank account making interest.
I did several orders in Dec and Jan and all came in a few days. Responds to emails is still a mess. I'm still waiting on response from Dec
No issues with my black Friday order, and the 2 after. Jan 7 order arrived 27th, ordered this exact wheel dec 20th knowing its not ready to ship. Main issue is the PS5 wheel bases ordered and delayed. My big complaint is not shipping all items in one box, and shipping them separately in small boxes!
People love to complain, even though i know Fanatec C/S is lacking.
Fanatec were having warehouse issues to where they had to find a new warehouse.

Check out Pokornyi Engineering RALLY module, it's compatible with any wheel bases.
There’s a huge issue with this wheel at the moment, you CANT use sequential shifting with this module and the Fanatec shifter on PS4/5 making this completely pointless at the moment
I tested this specifically as someone had mentioned shifters dont work with it on PS5, and was able to shift with the magnetic paddle module installed on this wheel. Are you saying the standalone H/Sequential shifter doesnt work if you have this button module connected?
@@boostedmedia the standalone shifter works in H pattern mode but if you switch to sequential it won’t work and won’t be recognised by PS4/5 not sure if it’s on PC too. Fanatec are aware but can’t even give me a estimated date this be fixed. It’s sat in my sim room like an ornament in the mean time!
Ahh right! Thanks for clarifying! I was under the impression it was shifters on the wheel that didn't work, but we tested it and it was fine. Didn't realise it was the standalone people were having problems with.
@@boostedmedia yeah it’s really frustrating, spent £650 on this and to me it’s completely pointless without being able to use sequential mode, they are in NO hurry to fix it either if you could raise the issue with someone higher than at Fanatec I’d really appreciate it?

I have been trying to get that wheel (rim only) for weeks, it's always B/O.
Unfortunately it is the wrong steering wheel in the rally we used the R383 and not the R383 LOGO.
Can you make a video about the CS DD+ and ask fanatec to explain what is up?

Instead of wasting their time doing real racing wheel nonsense, they should fix their customer service and release a affordable wheel with a proper screen.

Yeah I agree with you on customer service. But they absolutely do have some brilliant value wheels dude.
The McLaren GT v2 as mentioned is so good that people will buy it and srm convert it to usb, even if they don't have any other fanatec gear.
The P1 V2 is good value too
Wheel variety is a strong point of Fanatec, it's not something I'd be critical of them for. They have enough other flaws to criticize.

Does any one knows this? If you buy this for Ps5, can you adjust everything on a Pc and will it save on the wheel, so you can use your settings on Ps5? For example, O change on a Pc the light colors. Will the changed light be used on Ps5?
I ordered a csl dd ready to race bundle last saturday, and auspost has if with expected delivery for this monday, so just over a week, with a public holiday!
Still waiting on my Black Friday order because of the Formula v2.5x wheel. Trying to be patient but dang..4 months for an order because I can’t change it without completely canceling, waiting for a refund, then having to wait for their 25% discount code or coupon they offered if you did is a bit aggravating as a first time customer..
Maybe if we order it now we might get it at some point during 2024.

I ordered a DD2 on Black Friday but unfortunately got sent back to sender on the 4th of December didn't hear anything from fanatec till early last week and has since been reshipped. Extremely annoying and frustrating It seems to be getting better but I would probably wait a few months before ordering anything again

Cool steering wheel, but let's be real. No rally game we have, has any use for those buttons and knobs.
I really dislike that Fanatec uses a USB-C connector for a non-USB interface. It's really bad form, IMO.
Also, I ordered a CSL DD + McLaren GT3 bundle for a family member the day before Christmas and it was received within 10 calendar days.
Yeah 2 to 3 weeks would have been nice they took 2 months to respond to me abour unlocking my account
Besides the hardcore fanboys, there's little to no reason to fork out for this setup. A generic wheel and V2 hub is far far cheaper and delivers almost identical capabilities and experience.

Ok so they never had a sale of that scale and it was an incredible sale how did they not expect that kinda response. People love fanatec and add a 20-30-40% off sale. Come on whoever couldnt see this coming is a horrible sales rep or they needed capital for more product
