    So weird to see when a fully stocked non-closing Sears has almost no customers but a closing sears on its last day has more customers than it has merchandise left.

      Mourners. They aren’t there looking for the deal. Same thing happened at Toys R Us.

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk 4 роки тому +2

      richaado sissyboy yeah, I never understood that. Many times, these places liquidate, meaning they’re somehow more expensive or equal to original price despite “marking them down.” Some times, the deals to be had mean they’re finally as cheap as they are online.
      There are ways to make money reselling online, but very few chances can be made at places like this. eBay takes 10%. So does PayPal. You also had to pay sales tax on that item. Very hard to make a profit, especially if you have to also pay for shipping. I remember about 15 years ago, not being able to afford much, being upset because there was someone local who would buy up everything that went 15% off. How?! How can you make money reselling something that didn’t sell, marking it up enough to cover all those seller fees?

    • @CR7659
      @CR7659 4 роки тому +3

      Most of what was left was around 85% off, people thought they were getting a deal, but the things I bought still worked out to like 4, 5 bucks each, thrift shop prices.

      The music video makes the song even more appropriate. Video starts off showing a display of fractured memories of ones past, but in a sort of depressing way. Then you are in the present, looking back at the past, remembering how wonderful it was, how much potential it had, then brought back to the present, shown the reality that time has given you. You continue to look back at your past and wonder what happened, what went wrong, can it be retrieved, then the song ends with you accepting that what’s gone is gone.

I actually got video of the Macy's closing process, then went across the parking lot to see Sears with 4 days remaining (actually 3). I did that as I usually have terrible luck getting the store closures on the last day, but not this time. I also added the last day run around as well, although not covered as much detail, being those were the same as previous, but looked at other places, and the last of the merchandise. 52 years, and then it's gone.

    Retail will reinvent itself as a sale-person free, fully automated warehouse with TV-Screens up that show pictures of what you can buy where you are there, or to go pick up your things if you didn't want it shipped to you. By the way, I love the echo of the music in this video. Extremely effective, thanks!

      What JCPenny (or just Penny's now) is doing is quite the opposite. In their new concept store here in DFW, they're pulling off of the racked merchandise and adding a lot more services that you need to bring yourself into the store to get done (no competition with online sales) like a spa, full-service barber shop, salon, pearl cup coffee stand, fitness center, yoga classes... Successful stores are going to be different, sure, but not simplistically "staff free." Oddly enough, that is a dated idea of what the problems are and the future actually holds.

The way he's bankrupted both Kmart & Sears, yet took his "own money" & purchased properties that were closed, for his personal business ventures or whatever. Kinda seems like this is Enron Scandal all over again - not to the T, but definitely lots of corruption by Eddie and who knows who else.

The house I now have was decked out in all Sears brand everything. House cupboards, appliances etc. Sears was always the go 2 store for appliances. No problems & they lasted. Well that was then. 1. bought out k mart sears corp should have waited till the firesale started to get the business at a better bottom dollar.
    2. saleing the craftsman/kenmore name brands. for yrs you could get quality craftsman tools from sears same goes for kenmore in fact my mom has a quality brand name kenmore fridge and stove bought them both 10 to 15 yrs ago still running excellent. just wonder who she gonna call now since her warranties are no longer for repairs/service since sears in a way is on it's deathbed with only 185 stores remaining now.
    3. failure to get with the times.
    sears/kmart never ever had an app like wal mart and tons of others for online shopping. and don't evem get me started in the stores interiors. geez you walked into sears it looked like you walked into a store from 70's/80's maybe early 90's.
