As they say in Germany, this is a case of comparing apples with pears. Orx: Program Coin Fast (discriminator program) Reactivity 3 frequency 14.4 Khz and 22.5cm HF coil against Deus 2: Program Relic (Allmetal program) Reactivity 1 Multifrequency (max 24 Khz) 28cm coil That the ORX MUST lose is clear More realistic and meaningful would have been to use the ORX with 28cm X35 coil with 26,6 Khz in the program Gold 1 and a Reactivity of 1 and to compare. A correspondingly adjusted slewing speed of the coils would then also have been appropriate, which is slower in the Deus 2 in program 9 (see the operating instructions of the Deus 2 and ORX under the item "Reaction").
Hi Thomas, this comparison was based on the settings I use for the ORX to see if its possible I have missed stuff over the last 3 years. For me its clear to see I have!! Of course there are a million other ways I could do a comparison but I'll leave those for another day

@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire that's actually a valid point, to compare it to the settings you WERE using on the ORX to relic mode on the D2, if you havent, now you know to try out the settings the OP recommended, and compare that mate.............ps....yes i literally bought an ORX today 🤣
There is no doubt that the D2 is a better machine than the ORX, but that test really wasn't fair to the ORX. If you had used the stock ORX Deep program I'm pretty sure the results would have been different. I use the ORX and the deep program is much deeper than the fast program.
Hi, I used the factory settings that I have been using on the ORX for the last 3 years hence why I used it in this comparison. I always found coin deep to be unuseable and an unpleasant experience. I love my ORX, its been my most successfull machine ever. But I genuinely believe this Deus2 is 1 step up tje ladder, it would not have mattered what settings I used, results would have been same or similar. The audio on D2 is superior, it tells you to dig lots more signals, and this is what I need as all my permissions are heavily detected

Hm, the Relic Program on the D2 is a deep program and the Coin fast on the ORX is a fast shallower program. I think you had to choose the Coin Deep program on the ORX, for a real comparison, isnt it? more better would be both Deep programms, Coin Deep on the ORX and Deep ont the D2 Ah, and different coils, what kind of comparison do you want to do?
I see where you are coming from but these are the standard factory settings that I personally use on each machine. Yes there are a million variables of settings and configuration etc. In my opinion Coin Fast is a deep program. I do not use Coin Deep, hence why I did not do this comparison with it. There is probably no right way of doing this but this is how I did it and I'm open to opinions and ideas of other ways I can do it
Could have changed into coin deep on the missed target and if nothing then you would have proved all correct, as well as having a 9' on the D2 as I'm sure the 11' would go deeper on the D2 then the 9' on the D2 for a start, but the D2 makes everything more alive no question so the D2 is better for main use and does make the orx seem more like a little pup next to a hound, I use the orx which I got last year, found celtic's, many hammered (my favourite being a cnut penny) and much more! but the D2 would not have missed those either and only sounded better which is the most important thing proven from your video, cheers fella

Hi Gareth. Interesting video. I was out with my Orx 2 days ago and my brother with his Deus lite. We wanted to do a comparison so we buried a George 5th penny at a 'true' 10". I was in Coin fast and we both got nothing more than a scratch which we both wouldn't have dug. I then switched to Gold mode which I see as being similar to Relic mode on the Deus 2 and it smacked it loud and clear, even a couple of inches above. I think using the Deus 2 in Program 1 would have been the only fair comparison.
Hi mate, yeah I get ya point, I was just using the factory setting that I use in those 2 machines to prove if I have been missing stuff over the last 3 years. And I conclusively proved I have. I do not believe burying a coin yourself is considered a true target. My comparison was conducted on only real targets that had been there for 50-300 years. D2 on any program would of hit that target I'm quite sure
Great video as usual mate, but I think you should have used the general program on the Deus 2 which is the equivalent to coin fast on the ORX. If you had switched to general program the Deus may not have picked the silver coin up either. Who knows. ✌️
That silver coin proved nothing! Different size coils, for starters, and and different frequencies, but as long as you are happy. Nice coin though, thanks for taking the time.
Hi Kevin, it proves something to me, these are the 2 machines I use and the factory settings I use. I am well aware the ORX users out there are going to be disgruntled, but this is what happened and I cannot help that
You could help it by at least running them in similar modes=Deus 2 Relic and ORX Gold 1 at 26 kHz and roughly the rest of the settings set the same way. I get making the video using the ORX in the mode you are used to. However, like numerous watchers have already said ORX Coin Fast is by far the shallowest mode on the ORX You seem to really like Deus 2 Relic mode. At least try ORX Gold 1 mode. Relic mode using PWM 1 tone VCO audio is the same as Gold 1 VCO audio.
@@Bootyhunter1971 An ORX using a 9” coil and DEFAULT Coin Fast wouldn’t hit the silver coin in the video. Lower reactivity to 2 or 1 on that target might have been a different story.
Good test, I own both machines myself, Dues2 is great. Has opened up some dead sites for me. Orx is a great introduction for beginners who want to try Xp products. Cheers Jon

If you remember I told before that ORX likes Coin fast 26,6 kHz (more separation), Speed 1, GB should be about 78-79 (to dig deeper). Deus II nice MD anyway. Great video, you have talent to make quality content! Thanks for comparison!
Hi mate, I remember. This comparison was based on the factory programs I use for these machines. I know I may have upset some ORX users but I will always say the ORX is an incredible machine. Mine has been amazing for 3 very long years. But times move on, technology moves on and the Deus2 is in a league above, and with its price tag rightly so.
Another fabulous video. I really appreciate you taking the time to make these videos. Great find on the deep silver too. Once again, the ORX even with the 9” HF coil using either of the Gold modes with frequency set below 31 kHz would very likely have hit the deep silver coin. The ORX Gold modes are much deeper than ORX Coin Fast and Coin Deep. Deus ll Relic mode is based on Deus 1 and ORX Gold modes with the addition of FMF to make Deus ll’s Gold and Relic modes even better. Otherwise they are very similar from the settings shown in their respective manuals. So, your conclusion that Deus ll is a better detector than the ORX and even Deus l is something I totally agree with but not solely based on Deus ll Relic beating ORX Coin Fast head to head. Deus ll in Relic beating Deus 1 or ORX in Goldfield with similar coils would really get my attention. Same with Deus ll in General or Park beating ORX in Coin Fast with similar coils.
Agreed. The Orx in Fine Gold would have hit any target the Deus 2 did. The relic mode on the Deus 2 is more similar to the Orx fine gold program. Not saying the Orx is as good as the Deus 2, but for the money it's hard to beat.

This was filmed many months ago mate so probably not haha. Not the biggest fan of corned beef. ORX is a mint machine I had 3 amazing years with it and still have 7 or 8 ORX videos to edit and upload so not the end of the ORX on my channel just yet!!
Great and very fair ,I heard two signals when you went over the top of the William I said to myself two signals there and like most folk I always check the hole again and then the coin would have been found by either detectors you would have thought . I cant explain why the hole was refilled then rechecked to find the second target which was initially heard by both machines. I do like the added amplification of the audio on the Deus 2 . Oh yes Marmite on brown multi seeded , don't think after viewing your great video the Deus 2 destroyed ORX what I observed was the ORX giving the Deus 2 nose bleed and a good seasoned Deus 1 users would match the MF every where except the beach and when wadding and scuba diving . Thanks for the comments Peter. The ORX is a brilliant machine and has been my most successful machine ever but I believe the Deus2 with its superior audio is a step up. I cannot comment on a Deus1 as I have never used one. I am a big fan of marmite on toast :)
Hey buddy, they all do the same thing so I understand that. But for me as a hugepy passionate detectorist with done to death permissions. If theres a machine out there that can pick up bits I've missed with my ORX then I'm all for it 😁

Upgrading from the Deus 1 (still love and would not sell) to the Deus 2 I saw the difference within a couple hours detecting. I'll just say 9:29 on your video. I too went to an area which I and others have pounded to death over the years, 4 hammered and a Denarius. Good hunting to all! 👍🤙
Correct me if I am wrong here. I think to be a fair test, both machines should have 11” coils also I think relic mode on the Deus II is all metal which would not be a like for like test.
I had both these machines in factory programs which I use. I've been using the ORX on Coin Fast for 3 years, its been my go to machine for all this time. Maybe with settings changes n stuff it could of picked up that silver coin. But the D2 just gives so much more audio in every setting. It is worth the price tag though? In my opinion yes
A good real world test using setting that you would normally run on your orx don’t see the point of messing about with setting trying to make orx hit it with setting that you would not use any other time this is the best testing seen on the deus 2 so far 👍

I have been using a nox for few years now and love it but don’t understand why folk get up set that’s a fair a test as I have seen and that’s the kind of test that I want to see what the point of running the detectors maxed out and unstable just to say it hit it when your never going use you detector with them setting I never really run the nox any higher sensitivity than 22 max and recovery speed no lower than 4 and I would think most orx users will have similar setting that they use when out in the field not about can you hit its would you dig it

D2 Relic mode won't be for everyone, but its designed for people like me trying to sniff out those deep targets on pasture. Can't wait to get out for another blast with it. Had covid all week, but I'm alive again 💥
My big negative with D2 is charging coil is same as old XP with that piece of crap clip. Also to charge the remote with a tiny connector which has to be precisely fitted, you need incredible eye sight and lots of light to be able to see what you are doing

My favorite sandwiches are bacon lettuce tomato with butter and mayo on honey wheat bread! But for an occasional switch up I like liver sausage and onions sandwiches! Now as far as you're tests go I think that's going great. Some people are saying well you need to change this program or to this frequency. Sure that could help but who is going to change there programs on a Target that they weren't hitting in the first place. No many would. They would use the program and frequency that they have had the most success with like you have. I really like you videos and the scenery is fantastic! I wish we had old areas like that in the states. But in my area we hadn't been here long enough to get much over 130 year old coins and Relics. Although I have found a couple copper artifacts from the archaic native Americans that date around 7000 years old. Keep up the great work Gareth!!
Hi Greg I love a BLT sandwich too but I have to remove the tomato. Liver sausage sounds a bit grim haha. Yes there are people saying why did I do this or not do that but these are the factory programs I use for both these machines. Everyone knows I love the ORX and only ever use Coin Fast program. At the end of the day the D2 is superior, but is it worth paying double the price? For me yes as I am a dedicated detectorist but for someone not as dedicated then maybe no.
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire yeah I agree this machine is best for seasoned detectorists. There are many other great detectors out there for beginners and intermediate users. I have been detecting for 2 years now and have used the Garret atpro equinox 800 and I have a Vanquish 540. Honestly I would recommend all of them. Great machines and I'm looking forward to the Deus II. I just got the Xp backpack for Christmas and am looking patiently waiting for spring. I would love to take a trip to England for a new adventure some day!

Hi Stephen, I would of liked to do that but the bigger coil would of added size and weight to all the stuff I had to carry about all day. This was a lot of work and effort, both on factory settings that I personally use on these machines. I love the ORX, but this Deus2 is on another level
Default Deus 2 Relic mode 1 tone VCO audio with Audio Response 5 and Reactivity 1. Default ORX Coin Fast 3 tone PWM audio with Audio Response 4 (no adjustment available) and Reactivity 3. No contest by Default especially with FMF vs single frequency and with 11" coil vs 9" coil. The ORX is still a capable detector. Is the Deus 2 better...which one costs more?

Hi Gareth, would you personally pay the difference of close to £800 for the deus 11 from the orx? That's nearly the cost of the nox 800. Interesting though isn't it ha. My go to sandwich whilst on the fields has to be prince's sardine & tomato spread. Omg I love them... With bbq puft hula hoop. If you've not try them I've got to say buy these crisps. Hi mate, I look at it like this, I am a hugely passionate detectorist, I will be out every week sometimes twice a week if possible. Every week, week after week, month after month, year after year. I detect the same old heavily detected pasture fields that I've been detecting for many years. I know most machines will find 90% of whats there but if I can find 95% then over a few years yes its a worthy investment. For joe bloggs who goes out once a month for a bit of fun then perhaps not
That part were the daus 2 picked up that sliver coin and the orx didn't. Wonder if the orx had the low frequency coil it would had picked up the sliver coin. Great video. Thanks ken
Hi Ken, its possible with other coils/settings it would of picked up the signal. But on the day with the setup I was using, it didn't. This wasn't a proper test, it was jist me comparing the machines with the programs I use to see if I have been missing stuff with the ORX for the last 3 years. I conclusively proved I have. This Deus2 will not be missing much thats for sure 😁
A good comparison testing. DEUSII is a great machine, as is the ORX in its own ways. I guess its a matter of how much one is over the other. Starting off in the hobby, the ORX would be a great machine to acclimate to. In the future, saving up for the DEUS would be a goal to accomplish. Cheers GAZ. 👍🏴😊🇺🇸

I would have liked to seen if the Orx would have hit that silver coin in the deep mode. You were using the Deus 2 with the relic mode and 11" coil, which is a very deep mode & deeper coil. The Orx just had a 9" coil. Terry

Despite comments saying you should do this or that , you did what you knew was a fair comparison and your experience in the area you search and the programmes you are using are time trusted on the orx. A very entertaining vid , educational to prospective Deus ll buyers but still maintaining your unique style 👍. Favourite cob ? A big bab with 2 thinly sliced ripe tomatoes, cold baked beans and lashings of ketchup 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ayup mate, I have had 3 amazing years with my ORX but I now know I have been missing some signals, not many, but definitely some. And for someone like my self pounding the same permissions over and over, I am crying out for a machine which can hit more signals and with better audio :) Prawn mayo with lettuce on white bread ooow beautiful
Thick sliced white bread, inch of lurpak, smoked ham and peas pudding, or cheese savoury, on a brown bun(or cob if you talk funny😎) with lettuce and tomato(salt and pepper). Cheese and onion walkers crisps jammed in the sarni for added texture. Lovely big silver disk there bud. And a very fair comparison in real time.
What the heck is smoked ham and peas pudding? 🤣 I'm receiving a bit of flak from the ORX users from this "why didn't you use these settins why didnt you use that coil" etc etc. Can't win 🤣 I used the factory settings in both machines that I use out in the field. ORX is an awesome machine but D2 is in a league above
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire the point of the demo was that you would never have found that coin on a normal day out with the orx, and you would with the relic mode on the d2. People can say you could make the orx deeper, but you wouldn’t on a normal day out as you havnt for the past 3 years. So it was a fair comparison for your average day out. The orx was never going to pick that coin up. You have never had smoked ham? And even more important never had peas pudding. You have never lived mate. I’ll bring some of Northumberland’s finest down to a dig this summer mate. 😎
Great vid as usual Gareth. The Deus 11 looks a fab piece of kit. Just remember. You can't please all people all of the time. I know you've had some stick from orx users, but some of the stick is completely uncalled for. Keep going and let us see what you find going over your permissions. For me as a hugely passionate detectorist, YES. For Joe Bloggs who goes detecting with his son once every couple of months, NO. 😄

The William shilling was really Interesting, like you replied to another comment there are so many variables, coils, settings etc, but it was clear the ORX didn't like it. The Deus 11 was still a clear signal so still had more depth to go as well, quite a bit more by the sound and clarity of the signal, so yes impressive indeed. Just need the Deus to arrive in our UK shops now so we can spend our hard earned cash. 😁

Deus 2 reactivity is definitely great and superior, however my personal impression is that multifrequency leads to an overstabilization of the ids (like i experienced with the equinox). Many of the trash sounds much better with the Deus 2 than with Orx... I was thinking to upgrade to it, but i changed my mind and will keep my orx with 9" x35.
Hi Stefano, the XP ORX is a fantastic machine. But for me, a detectorist who only searches pasture fields I need to hit deep targets. I detect the same permissions over and over. This Deus2 is hitting more signals and encouraging me to dig more signals. But the price for this is a lot of money and I understand lots will stick with their current machines. Amazing product from XP though I'm all for it 😁
Totally agree its the same with the equinox as the deus 2 they are so sensitive that you end up digging lots of trash and spending way more time than you have to on the field. I feel like xp only made the deus 2 because of minelab i feel that the whole multi frequency phase will die down and we will see alot more single frequency machines come out soon. They are just too sensitive on trash and make bad targets sound like good ones.
Hi Michael, I think at the minute as I'm still new to the machine I'm digging more targets to learn what to dig and what not to dig. Theres no denying that on pasture this machine IS deeper than my other machines and for me that is what I've been crying out for. Lets face it, performance is everything
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire I would not say that depth represents performance. Then PI detectors would be the best. In my opinion, a performant MD is the one that offers the best trade-off between discrimination, depth and usability on different terrains, with discrimination being the most important parameter. In my little experience, I found that multifrequency improves depth and usability on different terrains, but leads to loss of discrimination of trash. Hopefully Deus 2 will rise the bar, but I think that we need an improvement of PI technology.
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Yeh maybe better performance depth wise but not better performance in discriminating targets because your using multi frequency so your actually digging alot of targets you usually wouldnt dig because multi makes everything more sensitive even small bits of trash ring up as a good target. I see too many youtubers promoting multifrequency because they either have a agenda or being paid to do so. Give it a year or two when people get to know these multi better and they will be running back to single frequencey machines.

Hi Steven, for 3 long years I have battered all my permissions on Coin Fast and had some amazing finds. The purpose of this comparison was to see if I could prove I have been missing stuff. And this confirmed it. These were real targets, real signals in the ground. Coming across that silver shilling with that piece of iron was PERFECT, if only I knew that was there I'd of scanned it with every freq and different coils

Nice to see the price prove itself but the Orx is still a great machine. 300 year old Silver is not something you'd like to miss so maybe the price is justified. Nice sarnie mate! The ORX is an incredible machine I know this, my ORX is 1 of the most used in the world probably hence the gold stem !! But it is apparant to me the Deus2 is in a league above. I am digging more signals and this is a very good sign. The coming months will be massive in this hobby with the D2, Legend and Equinox debates. I am incredibly impressed with D2 though, I think its obvious to see in my content. Cheers dude
Is relic mode the program you would use for a whole day detecting with deus 2? As for sandwich I usually bring boiling water and dried food to make warm dinner at the field. Chocolate to keep energy level up. And always coffee offcourse. Ill consider crisps after watching your vids. :) Its really great that you use real targets in your test, although i suppose some viewers will argue about the settings of the machines.
Hi mate, yes this was my most controversial video ever and took a fair bit of abuse 🤣 I didn't really plan it out very well and just went with settings I personally use. No it not ideal using Relic mode all day, but its certainly a setting that gives you amazing signals. If you could notch out iron and mineralisation this setting would be amazing!!

But orx certainly held its own, maybe on 17.2 khz it may off nailed that lovely silver coin, but that’s nit picking really. My favourite sandwiches are cheese salad with salad cream, or crisps with brown sauce. Thanks for sharing mate.

Hi, you are completely right, looking back this was a bad idea. It was the hype of getting a new machine and the want for it to be better. I am still 100% confident that the Deus2 is a step up from the ORX, but man my ORX found me 4 gold coins and a gold FOB seal, will probably always be my most successful detector. Thanks for watching

Hi Liam thanks for the message. If I was you I would visit your nearest metal detector dealership and go and pick up a few machines and try them out. I'm almost certain most machines would be fine at you are not ludicrously tall, maybe if you were 7 feet tall I'd have concerns haha. Hope this helps
X35 coil coin deep at 12 khz.. would have been a fairer comparison. use it all the time on my orx and get some really deep finds...hardly use the HF coil in fast programme X35 for me everytime....having said that the deus..2..looks good but do I want to spend 1400 pounds on something my Orx could find?
Hi Walter, these are the factory programs I use on both machines. For me personally coin deep is not user friendly, its noisy, unstable and incredibly difficult to use. For me personally as someone who detects the same permissions over and over and is very passionate ablut the hobby, if I'm missing stuff that other machines can find then its time for an upgrade. But yes its a huge amount of money and for most people not worth it

But these are the factory programs I use and I wanted proof that I have been missing stuff. ORX is a mint machine and I can vouch for that with 3 long years use, but Deus2 is in a league above and this is 100% a fact. The world will see this in the coming months. Take it easy buddy

I need to get a new detector, spend hours swinging an old heavy Minelab Safari that was terrible in trashy places. Would go out with a group and everyone even the Ace 250s out did my Minelab. I got a T2 now that works fairly well but not very good in wet sand. is the XP Deus 2 the one to get now?
Those old Minelabs are pretty decent, but very heavy. T2 is a decent machine too. I guess it all depends on how much money you want to spend? I need a lightweight machine to detect the rugged hillsides here. So for me it is an easy choice as XP machines are far lighter than other manufacturers. Great vid , really enjoyed the (real) comparison,, it’s obvious to me that the deus 11 is miles ahead of the orx and rightly so by price comparison,, I’d like to see it up against the nox just to find out why the price tag is so much higher, fingers crossed one for the future maybe 👍🏼
Hi Lee, yes the Deus2 is superior to the ORX, but not massively. To some it won't justify the pricetag. But for the hardy passionate detectorist like myself who pulverises the same permissions over and over then its worth every penny. I'd love to do a nox comparison but its not happened yet

Hi mate, oh yes this is my most controversial video ever, if you read some comments you will see some of the abuse I received haha. And I can kinda see their point, they were saying "oh change this, swap that, do this do that and the ORX would of hit the target". But the fact of the matter was these are the settings I use in the ORX. The Deus2 hit the target in all settings not just the one I was using. You know my answer to that question. I was out detecting with my friend on Saturday he was swinging the Legend. I found 15 coins he found zero. To me it looked like a bit of a struggle to use. Deus2 is sublime. BUT its expensive. All depends how passionate you are about your hobby mate

I love real target test in the ground … hate air tests. If I could I’d give you two thumbs up for real targets; but please do a video with ORX in deep mode. I don’t own a ORX but from what people say in deep coin mode it would compare better to the deus 2 to get closer to an apple to apple comparison.

Looking back, this was very unfair of me to compare those settings. At some point i will do a re-match using Coin Deep on the ORX. This is a setting though I have had very little joy with. I know I'm going to take a lot of stick and lose some subs from ORX users. But these are the factory settings I use on these machines and this was the outcome 😁

I have a small permission I've battered with a Simplex and then gone over with the Orx and found more coins again so it would be interesting to see what's there with a Deus 2. 👍
@@rossjenkins1357 a field is never done, we all know that. The Deus2 in my opinion brings with it audio superiority which encourages you to dig more signals. I do not know if it can compete with an Equinox though. Time will tell
ORX is a good machine no doubt about it. I have been using mine for over 3 years, found 4 gold coins and a dozen silver hammered coins with it. Will always be one of my most successful machines ever. But the Deus2 is in a league above and its exactly what I needed on my done to death permissions

Great video as always mate. Was it a fair comparison though? A machine half the price of the other, different modes and different size coils, you were better off just saying yep the Deus is 10 times better than the ORX, go and buy one. It would have saved you making a video 😂 To be fair though, the ORX has served you well and is still a beast of a machine and if you’re paying twice as much money you’re gonna get a machine that is pretty much twice as good. This was just a simple comparison of 2 machines using factory settings that I personally use when metal detecting. People keep asking for comparisons so finally after 5 weeks I have done one. For me the ORX is an amazing machine and yes its served me well. But the Deus2 is priced as it is for numerous reasons and today I have shown why. I will only ever be honest, if I didnt think this machine was much cop I'd send it back!! But quite frankly its blown me away. Can it compete with an Equinox though? Thats a another question
Been waiting for another video. First of all my go to sandwich is a tuna or egg mayo 😋 Well done on the William silver. I've had some cracking finds over the last 3 days, been dying to let you know. I've had a William 3rd half penny, bust side quite good, a Charles 2nd farthing, a couple of young bun head farthings in great condition, an imitation guinea (tea token) says 'spencers tea is best ,nottingham ' on it. Best of all my friend was using my 340 yesterday and found a damaged badge or medal, its a silver wreath with a silver shield on one side (Date stamped 1970 , 'c') and a gold shield on the other side ( stamped '9G') it is damaged, top silver part has been cut off. So I'm going back today, to try and find the other half! I was a meter off my first gold yesterday .. Still very pleased my friend found it, but hurts a bit when he doesn't even own a detector, and I've got 2 lol. Great video, as always, can't wait for the next.. Nice to see the deus II picking up targets the orx didn't..

Especially after seeing a UA-cam video the other day and a guy said hopefully this year will be the year he finds gold.. and he's been detecting 7 or 8 years.. I can't stop until I find some now. For me the Garret carrot is the best pinpointer about. But the XP one I use is rechargable so never have to buy batteries. My friend takes his friend on his pernission, today his friend found a Queen Anne gold guinea, several thousand pound worth! Last weekend he found a Queen Victoria half sovereign. My friend is mortified. But thats how it goes
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Thanks for your opinion. I have 2 rechargeable 9v batteries, that I bought to use with the cheap G.P pointer.. so that's not an issue. Maybe the garrett carrot is the one for me. Wow, 2 gold coins... surely the guy is at least compensating his friend with a bonus of some kind. My friend gives me all his finds, he not been out much, but is quite lucky. We went out all day yesterday, in the rain, and he found, what I'm sure is... a medieval pot leg!!!! I've not had one of those yet either.. lol
That was rather a "whoa" moment when the D2 picked up silver. Give me a Jiff extra crunchy peanut butter and Welch's Grape Jelly sandwich any day of the week. Plain old white bread.

Hi mate, yes I wish I had done this instead now as I have received some abuse from the ORX community. I only use the ORX on Coin Fast and I used the smaller coil as it was easier to carry (I had to carry both detectors, spade, recording equipment etc). It was a lot of work and effort :)
Well put together buddy , the master of structure. I’ve always thought the orx has very light signals, is that a power /depth /tone pitch thing or just a volume thing as I know you carnt change the volume on the orx not to sure on the d2. The d2 picked the silver out from the iron, and for that reason is worth the upgrade. Excellent vid of the capabilities of the d2 over the orx. That will be the muti frequency working it’s magic. Just think how many gold and silver coins you have missed with the orx lol corned beef , onion, brown sauce , pepper and mustard please chef 👩🍳

Hi Jesse yes that would be ideal but I only have 9 inch and 13 inch. I used the 9 because I have to carry all this kit around with me all day, its not easy. Bigger coils do not mean more depth anyway, all the XP coils punch deep
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire yes I can understand that you need a Faithfull helper 😊but still interesting I made the mistake with the orx having the 9inxh prefer 11 inch couldn't get the hf at the time and there's a big difference shows how multi freq adds a big dimension to a detector
@@jessestone3915 in a perfect world I'd take all my detectors and compare them all on all different settings etc but its just not possible. I am happy to try this comparison again and use other settings/coils. That silver coin with the iron in there was the dream test target, but I wasn't to know they were there, if I did Id of fetched my other machines

Thanks for putting the effort in to make real comparisons, I did it for a full day with my old Deus agains an Equinox when it came out so know how frustrating it is carrying them around and turning them on and off. However I don’t think anyone would claim the ORX is a great pasture machine, can you do the same test against the Equinox (I should add I’m not a fan of the Equinox) but I’m in the minority. If you don’t have access to one I’ll quite happily lend you mine, I’m not trying to be a smart ar*e I’m genuinely interested. Due to various operations I haven’t done any detecting for 2 years so watching real situation videos keeps me going and if I was going detecting tomorrow I would be using my old Deus not the Equinox.
Hi mate, ORX is not the deepest machine in the world but its done very well for me over the 3 years Ive used it. Id love to do a Ds v Nox comparison, I have a few mates with 1 but not got round to it yet. There will be loads of D2 v Nox vids on youtube in a couple weeks

I did see one of Sid’s videos comparing the Nox with the D2 the other day where the D2 came out the clear winner but they were buried targets not natural conditions, that’s what I particularly liked about your video, they were real targets which takes a lot of effort especially if you are detecting alone. I do not and have never used coin deep in 3 years of intense metal detecting with the ORX. If relic mode is 2nd deepest D2 prpgram I'd love to know the 1st please? This whole video was a simple comparison to see if I have been missing stuff with my ORX. Truth is I have and I always had an inckling, it is not a deep machine on pasture
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire again as I understand there is a deep programme on the deus2 I know calabash digger has found that relic mode can be made deeper in mono so coin fast can be made deeper in salt mode but coin deep is still deeper and works well on most soils

Yes in hindsight I should of checked that signal with other settings and other programs etc. I know the ORX is a great machine, I have never used coin deep on that machine as I find it very user unfriendly, unstable and noisy on pasture. Nice it's a shame you didn't try coin deep over that signal. Coin fast is not as deep as coin deep IMHO its only evidence Relic mode multi frequency? 11 inch coil is better than coin fast 14khz single frequency 9 inch coil. Great test though thanks for showing
Hi Lawrence, as this comparison was done with real signals in the ground I was not to know there woukd be a silver coin with an iron nail. That turned out to be a dream target to test machines on. I'm a detectorist and I used the machines in the factory programs I would nornally use them on. I appreciate I could of done this in so many ways and I feel like I have upset the ORX community a little bit. But theres no 2 ways about it, this Deus2 is superior and for the passionate detectorists out there an epic upgrade 😁

My OCD wanted me to see it over that silver in coin deep. I use coin fast a lot but switch to coin deep for suspect signals. Anyway I like your style and thanks for sharing some great videos. Top video bud, I do struggle sometimes with picking silver on my Orx my two pals I go with have deus 1 and run them in the hot programs and they seem to pick out the hammered coins better let’s hope there’s a update for the ORX if ever happens 👍
All metal detectors love silver. As you know the ORX has been amazing for me over the last 3 years. Its probably one of the most used ORX in the world. But this Deus2 is in a league above, and rightly so with the price tag.
Orx in coin deep would have had that silver any day of the week

Orx: Program Coin Fast (discriminator program) Reactivity 3 frequency 14.4 Khz and 22.5cm HF coil
against
Deus 2: Program Relic (Allmetal program) Reactivity 1 Multifrequency (max 24 Khz) 28cm coil
That the ORX MUST lose is clear
More realistic and meaningful would have been to use the ORX with 28cm X35 coil with 26,6 Khz in the program Gold 1 and a Reactivity of 1 and to compare.
A correspondingly adjusted slewing speed of the coils would then also have been appropriate, which is slower in the Deus 2 in program 9 (see the operating instructions of the Deus 2 and ORX under the item "Reaction").
Hi Thomas, this comparison was based on the settings I use for the ORX to see if its possible I have missed stuff over the last 3 years. For me its clear to see I have!! Of course there are a million other ways I could do a comparison but I'll leave those for another day

There is no doubt that the D2 is a better machine than the ORX, but that test really wasn't fair to the ORX. If you had used the stock ORX Deep program I'm pretty sure the results would have been different. I use the ORX and the deep program is much deeper than the fast program.

I love my ORX, its been my most successfull machine ever. But I genuinely believe this Deus2 is 1 step up tje ladder, it would not have mattered what settings I used, results would have been same or similar. The audio on D2 is superior, it tells you to dig lots more signals, and this is what I need as all my permissions are heavily detected

Hm, the Relic Program on the D2 is a deep program and the Coin fast on the ORX is a fast shallower program. I think you had to choose the Coin Deep program on the ORX, for a real comparison, isnt it?

I see where you are coming from but these are the standard factory settings that I personally use on each machine. Yes there are a million variables of settings and configuration etc. In my opinion Coin Fast is a deep program. I do not use Coin Deep, hence why I did not do this comparison with it. There is probably no right way of doing this but this is how I did it and I'm open to opinions and ideas of other ways I can do it
Could have changed into coin deep on the missed target and if nothing then you would have proved all correct, as well as having a 9' on the D2 as I'm sure the 11' would go deeper on the D2 then the 9' on the D2 for a start, but the D2 makes everything more alive no question so the D2 is better for main use and does make the orx seem more like a little pup next to a hound, I use the orx which I got last year, found celtic's, many hammered (my favourite being a cnut penny) and much more! but the D2 would not have missed those either and only sounded better which is the most important thing proven from your video, cheers fella

Hi Gareth. Interesting video. I was out with my Orx 2 days ago and my brother with his Deus lite. We wanted to do a comparison so we buried a George 5th penny at a 'true' 10". I was in Coin fast and we both got nothing more than a scratch which we both wouldn't have dug. I then switched to Gold mode which I see as being similar to Relic mode on the Deus 2 and it smacked it loud and clear, even a couple of inches above. I think using the Deus 2 in Program 1 would have been the only fair comparison.
Hi mate, yeah I get ya point, I was just using the factory setting that I use in those 2 machines to prove if I have been missing stuff over the last 3 years. And I conclusively proved I have. I do not believe burying a coin yourself is considered a true target. My comparison was conducted on only real targets that had been there for 50-300 years. D2 on any program would of hit that target I'm quite sure
Great video as usual mate, but I think you should have used the general program on the Deus 2 which is the equivalent to coin fast on the ORX. If you had switched to general program the Deus may not have picked the silver coin up either. Who knows. ✌️
That silver coin proved nothing! Different size coils, for starters, and and different frequencies, but as long as you are happy. Nice coin though, thanks for taking the time.
Hi Kevin, it proves something to me, these are the 2 machines I use and the factory settings I use. I am well aware the ORX users out there are going to be disgruntled, but this is what happened and I cannot help that
You could help it by at least running them in similar modes=Deus 2 Relic and ORX Gold 1 at 26 kHz and roughly the rest of the settings set the same way.
I get making the video using the ORX in the mode you are used to. However, like numerous watchers have already said ORX Coin Fast is by far the shallowest mode on the ORX
You seem to really like Deus 2 Relic mode. At least try ORX Gold 1 mode.
Relic mode using PWM 1 tone VCO audio is the same as Gold 1 VCO audio.
Well it proves an orx on coin fast wont find a big deep silver coin, proves that without a doubt.
@@Bootyhunter1971 An ORX using a 9” coil and DEFAULT Coin Fast wouldn’t hit the silver coin in the video. Lower reactivity to 2 or 1 on that target might have been a different story.
Good test, I own both machines myself, Dues2 is great. Has opened up some dead sites for me. Orx is a great introduction for beginners who want to try Xp products. Cheers Jon

If you remember I told before that ORX likes Coin fast 26,6 kHz (more separation), Speed 1, GB should be about 78-79 (to dig deeper). Deus II nice MD anyway. Great video, you have talent to make quality content! Thanks for comparison!
Hi mate, I remember. This comparison was based on the factory programs I use for these machines. I know I may have upset some ORX users but I will always say the ORX is an incredible machine. Mine has been amazing for 3 very long years. But times move on, technology moves on and the Deus2 is in a league above, and with its price tag rightly so.

Once again, the ORX even with the 9” HF coil using either of the Gold modes with frequency set below 31 kHz would very likely have hit the deep silver coin. The ORX Gold modes are much deeper than ORX Coin Fast and Coin Deep. Deus ll Relic mode is based on Deus 1 and ORX Gold modes with the addition of FMF to make Deus ll’s Gold and Relic modes even better. Otherwise they are very similar from the settings shown in their respective manuals. So, your conclusion that Deus ll is a better detector than the ORX and even Deus l is something I totally agree with but not solely based on Deus ll Relic beating ORX Coin Fast head to head. Deus ll in Relic beating Deus 1 or ORX in Goldfield with similar coils would really get my attention. Same with Deus ll in General or Park beating ORX in Coin Fast with similar coils.
Agreed. The Orx in Fine Gold would have hit any target the Deus 2 did. The relic mode on the Deus 2 is more similar to the Orx fine gold program. Not saying the Orx is as good as the Deus 2, but for the money it's hard to beat.

These are the factory programs I use with these machines, I wanted evidence that I have been missing stuff with my ORX. Yes there are a million other comparisons I could do with different settings and coils. But I still believe the Deus2 with its superior and customisable audio is in a league above. But so it ought to be with its pricetag :)

This was filmed many months ago mate so probably not haha. Not the biggest fan of corned beef. ORX is a mint machine I had 3 amazing years with it and still have 7 or 8 ORX videos to edit and upload so not the end of the ORX on my channel just yet!!
Great and very fair ,I heard two signals when you went over the top of the William I said to myself two signals there and like most folk I always check the hole again and then the coin would have been found by either detectors you would have thought .
I cant explain why the hole was refilled then rechecked to find the second target which was initially heard by both machines.
I do like the added amplification of the audio on the Deus 2 .
Oh yes Marmite on brown multi seeded , don't think after viewing your great video the Deus 2 destroyed ORX what I observed was the ORX giving the Deus 2 nose bleed and a good seasoned Deus 1 users would match the MF every where except the beach and when wadding and scuba diving .

Thanks for the comments Peter. The ORX is a brilliant machine and has been my most successful machine ever but I believe the Deus2 with its superior audio is a step up. I cannot comment on a Deus1 as I have never used one. I am a big fan of marmite on toast :)

Hey buddy, they all do the same thing so I understand that. But for me as a hugepy passionate detectorist with done to death permissions. If theres a machine out there that can pick up bits I've missed with my ORX then I'm all for it 😁
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire You are correct mate! They all do the same thing, find metal. Upgrading from the Deus 1 (still love and would not sell) to the Deus 2 I saw the difference within a couple hours detecting. I'll just say 9:29 on your video.

Correct me if I am wrong here. I think to be a fair test, both machines should have 11” coils also I think relic mode on the Deus II is all metal which would not be a like for like test.
I had both these machines in factory programs which I use. I've been using the ORX on Coin Fast for 3 years, its been my go to machine for all this time. Maybe with settings changes n stuff it could of picked up that silver coin. But the D2 just gives so much more audio in every setting. It is worth the price tag though? In my opinion yes
A good real world test using setting that you would normally run on your orx don’t see the point of messing about with setting trying to make orx hit it with setting that you would not use any other time this is the best testing seen on the deus 2 so far 👍

I have been using a nox for few years now and love it but don’t understand why folk get up set that’s a fair a test as I have seen and that’s the kind of test that I want to see what the point of running the detectors maxed out and unstable just to say it hit it when your never going use you detector with them setting I never really run the nox any higher sensitivity than 22 max and recovery speed no lower than 4 and I would think most orx users will have similar setting that they use when out in the field not about can you hit its would you dig it

My big negative with D2 is charging coil is same as old XP with that piece of crap clip. Also to charge the remote with a tiny connector which has to be precisely fitted, you need incredible eye sight and lots of light to be able to see what you are doing

My favorite sandwiches are bacon lettuce tomato with butter and mayo on honey wheat bread! But for an occasional switch up I like liver sausage and onions sandwiches!
Now as far as you're tests go I think that's going great. Some people are saying well you need to change this program or to this frequency. Sure that could help but who is going to change there programs on a Target that they weren't hitting in the first place. No many would. They would use the program and frequency that they have had the most success with like you have.
I really like you videos and the scenery is fantastic! I wish we had old areas like that in the states. But in my area we hadn't been here long enough to get much over 130 year old coins and Relics. Although I have found a couple copper artifacts from the archaic native Americans that date around 7000 years old. Keep up the great work Gareth!!

At the end of the day the D2 is superior, but is it worth paying double the price? For me yes as I am a dedicated detectorist but for someone not as dedicated then maybe no.

I have been detecting for 2 years now and have used the Garret atpro equinox 800 and I have a Vanquish 540. Honestly I would recommend all of them. Great machines and I'm looking forward to the Deus II. I just got the Xp backpack for Christmas and am looking patiently waiting for spring. I would love to take a trip to England for a new adventure some day!

Hi Stephen, I would of liked to do that but the bigger coil would of added size and weight to all the stuff I had to carry about all day. This was a lot of work and effort, both on factory settings that I personally use on these machines. I love the ORX, but this Deus2 is on another level
Default Deus 2 Relic mode 1 tone VCO audio with Audio Response 5 and Reactivity 1. Default ORX Coin Fast 3 tone PWM audio with Audio Response 4 (no adjustment available) and Reactivity 3. No contest by Default especially with FMF vs single frequency and with 11" coil vs 9" coil. The ORX is still a capable detector. Is the Deus 2 better...which one costs more?

Hi mate, I look at it like this, I am a hugely passionate detectorist, I will be out every week sometimes twice a week if possible. Every week, week after week, month after month, year after year. I detect the same old heavily detected pasture fields that I've been detecting for many years. I know most machines will find 90% of whats there but if I can find 95% then over a few years yes its a worthy investment. For joe bloggs who goes out once a month for a bit of fun then perhaps not
That part were the daus 2 picked up that sliver coin and the orx didn't. Wonder if the orx had the low frequency coil it would had picked up the sliver coin.

Hi Ken, its possible with other coils/settings it would of picked up the signal. But on the day with the setup I was using, it didn't. This wasn't a proper test, it was jist me comparing the machines with the programs I use to see if I have been missing stuff with the ORX for the last 3 years. I conclusively proved I have. This Deus2 will not be missing much thats for sure 😁

A good comparison testing. DEUSII is a great machine, as is the ORX in its own ways. I guess its a matter of how much one is over the other. I would have liked to seen if the Orx would have hit that silver coin in the deep mode. You were using the Deus 2 with the relic mode and 11" coil, which is a very deep mode & deeper coil. The Orx just had a 9" coil. Terry

And for someone like my self pounding the same permissions over and over, I am crying out for a machine which can hit more signals and with better audio :) Prawn mayo with lettuce on white bread ooow beautiful
Thick sliced white bread, inch of lurpak, smoked ham and peas pudding, or cheese savoury, on a brown bun(or cob if you talk funny😎) with lettuce and tomato(salt and pepper). Cheese and onion walkers crisps jammed in the sarni for added texture.

@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire the point of the demo was that you would never have found that coin on a normal day out with the orx, and you would with the relic mode on the d2. People can say you could make the orx deeper, but you wouldn’t on a normal day out as you havnt for the past 3 years. So it was a fair comparison for your average day out. The orx was never going to pick that coin up.

Great video Gareth as usual, great to see the comparison against the trusty ORX, I love my ORX. The William shilling was really Interesting, like you replied to another comment there are so many variables, coils, settings etc, but it was clear the ORX didn't like it. The Deus 11 was still a clear signal so still had more depth to go as well, quite a bit more by the sound and clarity of the signal, so yes impressive indeed. Just need the Deus to arrive in our UK shops now so we can spend our hard earned cash. 😁

Deus 2 reactivity is definitely great and superior, however my personal impression is that multifrequency leads to an overstabilization of the ids (like i experienced with the equinox). Many of the trash sounds much better with the Deus 2 than with Orx... I was thinking to upgrade to it, but i changed my mind and will keep my orx with 9" x35.
Hi Stefano, the XP ORX is a fantastic machine. But for me, a detectorist who only searches pasture fields I need to hit deep targets. I detect the same permissions over and over. This Deus2 is hitting more signals and encouraging me to dig more signals. But the price for this is a lot of money and I understand lots will stick with their current machines. Amazing product from XP though I'm all for it 😁
Totally agree its the same with the equinox as the deus 2 they are so sensitive that you end up digging lots of trash and spending way more time than you have to on the field. I feel like xp only made the deus 2 because of minelab i feel that the whole multi frequency phase will die down and we will see alot more single frequency machines come out soon. They are just too sensitive on trash and make bad targets sound like good ones.
Hi Michael, I think at the minute as I'm still new to the machine I'm digging more targets to learn what to dig and what not to dig. Theres no denying that on pasture this machine IS deeper than my other machines and for me that is what I've been crying out for. Lets face it, performance is everything
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire I would not say that depth represents performance. Then PI detectors would be the best. In my opinion, a performant MD is the one that offers the best trade-off between discrimination, depth and usability on different terrains, with discrimination being the most important parameter. In my little experience, I found that multifrequency improves depth and usability on different terrains, but leads to loss of discrimination of trash.
Hopefully Deus 2 will rise the bar, but I think that we need an improvement of PI technology.
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Yeh maybe better performance depth wise but not better performance in discriminating targets because your using multi frequency so your actually digging alot of targets you usually wouldnt dig because multi makes everything more sensitive even small bits of trash ring up as a good target. I see too many youtubers promoting multifrequency because they either have a agenda or being paid to do so. Give it a year or two when people get to know these multi better and they will be running back to single frequencey machines.

Hi Steven, for 3 long years I have battered all my permissions on Coin Fast and had some amazing finds. The purpose of this comparison was to see if I could prove I have been missing stuff. And this confirmed it. These were real targets, real signals in the ground. Coming across that silver shilling with that piece of iron was PERFECT, if only I knew that was there I'd of scanned it with every freq and different coils

Nice sarnie mate! The ORX is an incredible machine I know this, my ORX is 1 of the most used in the world probably hence the gold stem !! But it is apparant to me the Deus2 is in a league above. I am digging more signals and this is a very good sign. The coming months will be massive in this hobby with the D2, Legend and Equinox debates. I am incredibly impressed with D2 though, I think its obvious to see in my content. Cheers dude

Is relic mode the program you would use for a whole day detecting with deus 2? As for sandwich I usually bring boiling water and dried food to make warm dinner at the field. Chocolate to keep energy level up. And always coffee offcourse. Ill consider crisps after watching your vids. :) Its really great that you use real targets in your test, although i suppose some viewers will argue about the settings of the machines.
Hi mate, yes this was my most controversial video ever and took a fair bit of abuse 🤣 I didn't really plan it out very well and just went with settings I personally use. No it not ideal using Relic mode all day, but its certainly a setting that gives you amazing signals. If you could notch out iron and mineralisation this setting would be amazing!!
Awesome video as always my friend. Happy new year to you and your family. Cracking comparison test. Being a multi frequency machine the deus 2 was always going to have the edge on the ORX in my view. But orx certainly held its own, maybe on 17.2 khz it may off nailed that lovely silver coin, but that’s nit picking really. My favourite sandwiches are cheese salad with salad cream, or crisps with brown sauce. Thanks for sharing mate.

Hi, you are completely right, looking back this was a bad idea. It was the hype of getting a new machine and the want for it to be better. I am still 100% confident that the Deus2 is a step up from the ORX, but man my ORX found me 4 gold coins and a gold FOB seal, will probably always be my most successful detector. Thanks for watching

Hi Liam thanks for the message. If I was you I would visit your nearest metal detector dealership and go and pick up a few machines and try them out. I'm almost certain most machines would be fine at you are not ludicrously tall, maybe if you were 7 feet tall I'd have concerns haha. Hope this helps

X35 coil coin deep at 12 khz.. would have been a fairer comparison. use it all the time on my orx and get some really deep finds...hardly use the HF coil in fast programme X35 for me everytime....having said that the deus..2..looks good but do I want to spend 1400 pounds on something my Orx could find?
Hi Walter, these are the factory programs I use on both machines. For me personally coin deep is not user friendly, its noisy, unstable and incredibly difficult to use. For me personally as someone who detects the same permissions over and over and is very passionate ablut the hobby, if I'm missing stuff that other machines can find then its time for an upgrade. But yes its a huge amount of money and for most people not worth it

Hi mate, yes I have inadvertently upset some of the ORX community here, perhaps other comparisons and setups would of been more suitable. But these are the factory programs I use and I wanted proof that I have been missing stuff. ORX is a mint machine and I can vouch for that with 3 long years use, but Deus2 is in a league above and this is 100% a fact. The world will see this in the coming months. Take it easy buddy

I need to get a new detector, spend hours swinging an old heavy Minelab Safari that was terrible in trashy places. Would go out with a group and everyone even the Ace 250s out did my Minelab.
I got a T2 now that works fairly well but not very good in wet sand. is the XP Deus 2 the one to get now?
Those old Minelabs are pretty decent, but very heavy. T2 is a decent machine too. I guess it all depends on how much money you want to spend? I need a lightweight machine to detect the rugged hillsides here. So for me it is an easy choice as XP machines are far lighter than other manufacturers. Hi Lee, yes the Deus2 is superior to the ORX, but not massively. To some it won't justify the pricetag. But for the hardy passionate detectorist like myself who pulverises the same permissions over and over then its worth every penny. I'd love to do a nox comparison but its not happened yet

Hi mate, oh yes this is my most controversial video ever, if you read some comments you will see some of the abuse I received haha. And I can kinda see their point, they were saying "oh change this, swap that, do this do that and the ORX would of hit the target". But the fact of the matter was these are the settings I use in the ORX. The Deus2 hit the target in all settings not just the one I was using. You know my answer to that question. I was out detecting with my friend on Saturday he was swinging the Legend. I found 15 coins he found zero. To me it looked like a bit of a struggle to use. Deus2 is sublime. BUT its expensive. All depends how passionate you are about your hobby mate

I love real target test in the ground … hate air tests. If I could I’d give you two thumbs up for real targets; but please do a video with ORX in deep mode. I don’t own a ORX but from what people say in deep coin mode it would compare better to the deus 2 to get closer to an apple to apple comparison.

Looking back, this was very unfair of me to compare those settings. At some point i will do a re-match using Coin Deep on the ORX. This is a setting though I have had very little joy with. In my experience Coin Fast is by far the best setting for the ORX on pasture. I very much hope to see you on another episode :)

I know I'm going to take a lot of stick and lose some subs from ORX users. But these are the factory settings I use on these machines and this was the outcome 😁

I have a small permission I've battered with a Simplex and then gone over with the Orx and found more coins again so it would be interesting to see what's there with a Deus 2. 👍
@@rossjenkins1357 a field is never done, we all know that. The Deus2 in my opinion brings with it audio superiority which encourages you to dig more signals. I do not know if it can compete with an Equinox though. Time will tell
Just got the orx, still learning it, but already starting to love it. I think to be fear the same coils should be used on both machines.
ORX is a good machine no doubt about it. I have been using mine for over 3 years, found 4 gold coins and a dozen silver hammered coins with it. Will always be one of my most successful machines ever. But the Deus2 is in a league above and its exactly what I needed on my done to death permissions

Great video as always mate. Was it a fair comparison though? A machine half the price of the other, different modes and different size coils, you were better off just saying yep the Deus is 10 times better than the ORX, go and buy one. It would have saved you making a video 😂 To be fair though, the ORX has served you well and is still a beast of a machine and if you’re paying twice as much money you’re gonna get a machine that is pretty much twice as good. This was just a simple comparison of 2 machines using factory settings that I personally use when metal detecting. People keep asking for comparisons so finally after 5 weeks I have done one. For me the ORX is an amazing machine and yes its served me well. But the Deus2 is priced as it is for numerous reasons and today I have shown why. I will only ever be honest, if I didnt think this machine was much cop I'd send it back!! But quite frankly its blown me away. Can it compete with an Equinox though? Thats a another question

I've had some cracking finds over the last 3 days, been dying to let you know.
I've had a William 3rd half penny, bust side quite good, a Charles 2nd farthing, a couple of young bun head farthings in great condition, an imitation guinea (tea token) says 'spencers tea is best ,nottingham ' on it.
Best of all my friend was using my 340 yesterday and found a damaged badge or medal, its a silver wreath with a silver shield on one side (Date stamped 1970 , 'c') and a gold shield on the other side ( stamped '9G') it is damaged, top silver part has been cut off. So I'm going back today, to try and find the other half!
I was a meter off my first gold yesterday ..
Still very pleased my friend found it, but hurts a bit when he doesn't even own a detector, and I've got 2 lol.

For me the Garret carrot is the best pinpointer about. But the XP one I use is rechargable so never have to buy batteries. My friend takes his friend on his pernission, today his friend found a Queen Anne gold guinea, several thousand pound worth! Last weekend he found a Queen Victoria half sovereign. My friend is mortified. But thats how it goes

That was rather a "whoa" moment when the D2 picked up silver. Give me a Jiff extra crunchy peanut butter and Welch's Grape Jelly sandwich any day of the week. Plain old white bread.

Hi mate, yes I wish I had done this instead now as I have received some abuse from the ORX community. I only use the ORX on Coin Fast and I used the smaller coil as it was easier to carry (I had to carry both detectors, spade, recording equipment etc). It was a lot of work and effort :)
Well put together buddy , the master of structure. I’ve always thought the orx has very light signals, is that a power /depth /tone pitch thing or just a volume thing as I know you carnt change the volume on the orx not to sure on the d2. The d2 picked the silver out from the iron, and for that reason is worth the upgrade. Excellent vid of the capabilities of the d2 over the orx. That will be the muti frequency working it’s magic. Just think how many gold and silver coins you have missed with the orx lol corned beef , onion, brown sauce , pepper and mustard please chef 👩🍳

My criticism if it's valid is the orx should have the same size coil to get proper comparison but it's proving multi freq has the edge
Hi Jesse yes that would be ideal but I only have 9 inch and 13 inch. I used the 9 because I have to carry all this kit around with me all day, its not easy. Bigger coils do not mean more depth anyway, all the XP coils punch deep

I am happy to try this comparison again and use other settings/coils. That silver coin with the iron in there was the dream test target, but I wasn't to know they were there, if I did Id of fetched my other machines

Thanks for putting the effort in to make real comparisons, I did it for a full day with my old Deus agains an Equinox when it came out so know how frustrating it is carrying them around and turning them on and off.
However I don’t think anyone would claim the ORX is a great pasture machine, can you do the same test against the Equinox (I should add I’m not a fan of the Equinox) but I’m in the minority. If you don’t have access to one I’ll quite happily lend you mine, I’m not trying to be a smart ar*e I’m genuinely interested.
Due to various operations I haven’t done any detecting for 2 years so watching real situation videos keeps me going and if I was going detecting tomorrow I would be using my old Deus not the Equinox.
Hi mate, ORX is not the deepest machine in the world but its done very well for me over the 3 years Ive used it. Id love to do a Ds v Nox comparison, I have a few mates with 1 but not got round to it yet. There will be loads of D2 v Nox vids on youtube in a couple weeks

I did see one of Sid’s videos comparing the Nox with the D2 the other day where the D2 came out the clear winner but they were buried targets not natural conditions, that’s what I particularly liked about your video, they were real targets which takes a lot of effort especially if you are detecting alone. Yes in hindsight I should of checked that signal with other settings and other programs etc. I know the ORX is a great machine, I have never used coin deep on that machine as I find it very user unfriendly, unstable and noisy on pasture. Coin fast always my go to setting on pasture. I still firmly belive the Deus2 is a step above the ORX, but then so it should be for the pricetag!!

Nice it's a shame you didn't try coin deep over that signal. Coin fast is not as deep as coin deep IMHO its only evidence Relic mode multi frequency? 11 inch coil is better than coin fast 14khz single frequency 9 inch coil. Great test though thanks for showing
Hi Lawrence, as this comparison was done with real signals in the ground I was not to know there woukd be a silver coin with an iron nail. That turned out to be a dream target to test machines on. I'm a detectorist and I used the machines in the factory programs I would nornally use them on. I appreciate I could of done this in so many ways and I feel like I have upset the ORX community a little bit. @@TheDukesOfDerbyshire there's no doubt the Deus II will be better than the ORX. I use a Deus and an ORX, I thought the ORX did well on the comparison. My OCD wanted me to see it over that silver in coin deep. I use coin fast a lot but switch to coin deep for suspect signals. Anyway I like your style and thanks for sharing some great videos. Have you tried using the orx s-lite stem to reduce weight of the Deus 2?
I haven't actually no, I would of thought the stems would weigh the same

Top video bud, I do struggle sometimes with picking silver on my Orx my two pals I go with have deus 1 and run them in the hot programs and they seem to pick out the hammered coins better let’s hope there’s a update for the ORX if ever happens 👍

All metal detectors love silver. As you know the ORX has been amazing for me over the last 3 years. Its probably one of the most used ORX in the world. But this Deus2 is in a league above, and rightly so with the price tag.
My go-to sandwich.... Peanut butter and jelly on white bread 😊😊😊😊
