I also realized that your videos make me thinking about technics and projects so intensively that I forgot to like at least every Rutscher video so I had to go back and hit that like... Btw. In case you don´t have metal tracks already, I accidentally bought Tiger I late tracks from MasterClub on last ModellBrno...
Currently building the RFM Sturmtiger which looks like it shares a lot of tooling as their Tiger. The rear hull deck needed a lot of work to sit flush. And the fighting compartment roof doesn’t want to sit flush either. Then, to top it off, the interior is missing seats and won’t sit flush if the shells are in place. Finally gave in and closed it up.

I can understand that someone perhaps does nott agree with a technique or some such, but to dislike the video? I don't get it. Anyways well played on more excellent content.
LOVE your videos! Just want to add a minor point about those "lazy" weld beads in the kit (I didn't work on this kit - disclaimer). A 3D designer is trying to pay his bills and maybe feed his or her family on the very little money that they make doing that work. A repeated pattern of weld beads might seem like a lazy solution, but designers are under extreme pressure to cut design costs and hours. As hobbyists, modelers have the luxury of letting something sit overnight because we might come back the next day and decide that we want to change it. If we did that as 3D modelers, we would (we do) go broke and go away. Anyway - I do seriously LOVE your work and just wanted to comment respectfully with a little insight into why we might see some things in kits that make us go "meh - why!?". Before anyone says "Well! But Tamiya! Or Well Dragon does it XYZ..." those companies probably have the capitol to pay more for 3D design. The 32 hours that it might take to hand layout all of the weld beads (as opposed to 8)(plus rivets, plus screws, plus... you have to think exponential increase in hours, not linear) adds to the cost of the kit that most modelers are also unwilling to pay.
Hey Pete, thanks so much for the insight! Yes I can totally see that, I think I was too harsh with my judgment - I wanted to point it out, but I could've said it in a different way. I totally understand how it often goes behind the scenes, and not only in the modelling industry. After all, I struggle with this all the time, trying to do my best on a very tight time schedule. I totally didn't want to belittle the people and their work on this kit. Again, thanks for your comment and hey, happy cake day!
UNS, I have found that Vallejo Plastic Putty works very well for these. I have used it several times with good results. The applicator tip is very small and allows for easy application. Cheers!
I've made your tools there great for putty and filler to soft for sprue welds after heating the metal up they just bend so made a couple that weren't heated for that type so cheers for the tips
Hi Uncle! looks like a model from the shelf of shame finally gets a repaired. And... it's a TIGER. Can't wait to see what you do with this - looks great so far. Great vid thanks for sharing and if you want to do more Maya bloopers, that's fine with me. Cheers.
I think the fender skirt attachments are called Weldments and Tiger Model Designs makes them, selling bags of 50. And when looking for very accurate German machine guns for tanks and infantry, find the best at K59. Hey, I enjoy your humor, as well as the information!
I studied the welds on Tiger extensively during my 3d project. You did a pretty accurate job. You had more flame cut marks than i went for. I just never found them that noticeable.
@@NightShiftScaleModels all the pictures I found on the internet shows that the part on the front near drivesprockeet are machined as well. The pictures has bad quality so I can't tell for sure :( How do you find info like that?
Hello Uncle Nighshift, im actually building my Tiger 1. As i try to make the steel texture without your suggested method (in lack of suggested materials) i have tried something. I bought a very cheap set of different acrylic effect pastes and one of this is so called Strukturpaste (structure paste in english?) you can mix it with some (also cheap) acrylic paint if you want to have it coloured. When you have mixed it you get some pastry colour which you can then stipple it on all the surfaces you want with some stiffer brush. It sticks very well to the plastic and there seems no need to prime this surfaces. It dries dull and looks in my opinion very good. Also the benefit of no chemical use is needed and you can clean your brush with water, makes it for me to a top possibility. Maybe you can give it a try. Additionaly i want to mention that the structure paint is white and the colour i have added was also an acrylic paste. So you want to have a thick color. best regards Rock
The original real life welding /filler rods must have been the size of a telephone pole . I've always been amazed at the width of tank welds . Just massive .
