As a fisherman here in NE Oklahoma, I go nowhere without a double willow tied on especially if it is clear. I am always slow rolling in that 8-15' range even in the summer... There is absolutely nothing like a Spinnerbait bite... Fantastic video.
I fished through wind-blown rain for over an hour today. I live in Chicago, and the ice is ALMOST HERE! That's it, I'm done with fishing for the year 2022, THAT'S A WRAP!!!
Northern Indiana, and I basically swear by a spinner bait - Booyah Pond Magic or a Jimmy Houston Legend with a swim bait trailer. I try other lures, with varying levels of success, but the spinner is my go to lure in any body of water - especially in late spring and summer.
Spinnerbaits are my Confidence lure, I Always have one tied on. For me there's not a better spinnerbait on the market than a BooYah! There's just something unique about them? You mentioned "Feeling the Bite" The feeling of that "Crunch" when you fell the blades connect with the rest of the bait, Only 1 thing that can mean. Fish On! I Love that feeling! My PB here in Ohio is 7-8, on a Slow rolled spinnerbait. I have always fished my spinnerbaits on a 5:4-1 gear ratio. Great videos.
I watched this video when it was released, and really thought about what you said about detecting the bite. Multiple times I would be rolling in spinnerbait and think that the blades were fouled only to find out they were not, when I got it to the boat. I was missing bites. I died laughing the first time I felt that again and I reeled down and set the hook. Was just a three pounder, but put to use what I’ve learned. Thanks for the tips!
I’ve been fishing spinnerbaits for about 36 of my 40 years here on the planet and everything you said in this video is spot on. The slower gear ratio reel is a great tip, it’s tough for me to slow down, I like to power fish, chuck and wind, I use a 5 gear reel for most of my spinnerbaits but when I really want to slow down I go to an old green Curado 200B38. Talk about crawlin. One thing I do different is I typically run braid cause up here in MN most of our stuff is grass related and I can feel the blades better with braid and it gives me just a little better snap to clear weeds vs mono or fluoro. When I go to the farm in Arkansas, the water is pretty muddy so I can get away with braid there too. I’d love to spend a day chuckin blades with you to see the subtle differences in presentation.
One way I've learned with keeping tip of index finger on your line when you feel the smallest variation change in your line a tick you'd feel with index finger on line. Another big factor is having a quality rod to feel with thumb on the shaft of the pole. Why it's good to have a graphite rod. Of course when using a rod with treble hooks or spinner bait buzz bait or light wire hooks you want a 6'6 graphite rod with moderate fast action tip for these types of lures.
From Texas. Had a tournament on Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma last year. Picked up some Coverts specifically for it and throttled them. Going back again same time this year, can't wait.
Great content. Love watching the spinnerbait action. Have a bunch of the Covert spinnerbaits and they are my favorite. Would love to see a Rogue show and go over colors and tricks. 👍
Love ya videos an love throwing spinnerbaits myself an it’s really good in the pickwick around McFarland I’m really blessed to live here with all the great fishing , keep ‘em winter times videos rolling good luck here coming up for you.
Thanks for sharing. I’ve always favored crankbaits, but I watched Frank Scalish breakdown how well built the Covert series are on BTL. Been using them ever since.
Excited about the new videos. You, and a few others have been an inspiration to me. When guys like you and Hackney can re-qualify for the elites after one season, that shines through. There are a handful of guys that when they talk, I listen carefully. You have always been one of them. Good luck this year
Great video. Looking forward to the channel. Mr Spinnerbait. Followed you at jordan lake for half of the day. You covered some water that day. And you through a spinnerbait the entire time I followed you.
Really enjoyed the video. I am glad that its also educational and not just a video of someone catching fish. I will definitely incorporate some of these tips next time I go fish
Jason this week a jackhammer, and in the grass follow up with a Texas rig dinger! I'm telling ya I got faith in ya, come back to this comment after you win!!! #FearChristie
Love this. First 2 bass of my life were on a double willow spinnerbait. 2nd fish was a 4 lber. Favorite way to catch them in the early spring here in New England. 🎣💪
Hey man, first time subscriber to your channel….im REALLY surprised you don’t have more subscribers or viewers. I’ve watched about 6 of your vids tonight alone haha. Keep up the good work man!
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Jason, you emphasized how important the trailer is on a spinnerbait, but what about a trailer hook? I've heard it's super important but I've also seen the complete opposite.
Jason do you ALWAYS throw a trailer on your blades? I have tried trailers and always end up with short strikes vs no trailer and they engulf it. What’s the time to throw trailer vs non
Shhhhhhhh All those people turn there back on old faithful for there chatter wagon and other stuff. Life has been awesome while they where gone. Guess they will start coming back. No more info please 😂😂😂 Awesome you are doing vids you The man in my book.
I think the boards with the breakdown of what you are doing are a great idea. So often I watch a video and a minute after a new idea passes by I think-now what did he say? Bet that idea will get stolen.
Dang. Time for me to eat some crow. A few weeks ago on a live stream I saw you comment and I thought you were the wannabe Jason Christie. I made a comment “that’s not the real JC”. I was wrong and I am sorry. I should not have commented on something I wasn’t sure about. I’m liking the new channel. I hope you will accept a sincere apology. Tight lines!!
@@Christiefishing I wish that was the stream I was talking about. I think it was Fishing with Gramps, Debo’s fishing or Tin Horse Monty livestream. Sometimes it’s tough not being a keyboard warrior. Again man, I’m sorry. Now I’m going to go binge watch some more of your vids.

Oh, and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who bangs his lures into the trolling motor, so thanks for sharing. I think more highly of myself now😁
😂 it happens
Heck yeah....I hate it.
Them coverts catch em year around. 1/2 oz double Colorado with the orange kicker has been my go to lately! Best spinnerbait on the market.

Just learned about your channel from listening to Mercer. Great interview and this is a great channel. I'm subscribing!
I need to get my hands on one of those 5:4:1 hypermags. Where would I find one everywhere I've looked I only see the 7:5 and the 8:3.
Great video thanks Jason
Gotta love spinnerbait fishing. One of the most addicting bites.
I agree
Top water tho…
Great video. Listened to you on BTL and it sounds like we're going to be getting more of these videos. I can't wait.
Very informative, Really liked this.
I love your covert spinner bait man. My go to now a days.
How times have changed over the last 5 plus years with the electronics.... crazy

Awesome video Jason! Cant wait for the start of the season.
Great video jason. Cant wait to see how you do at St. Johns River for the opener in February. Good luck and God bless...👍
You going to put Jason on your Fantasy team?
Yes. The conditions will be right in his wheelhouse...👍
I feel stupid. I’ve never fished a spinner bait with a trailer. Let’s give it a go!

Awesome christe..bro.ur gonna win a classic Man keep at it
Straight up HAMMER!
Great video
Looks so fun
Great video!!
Love your fishing style! Would love to see some scenes from cast to catch!
Agree. We will fix that.
Jason- what different conditions do you look for before go to vibrating jig instead of spinnerbait. I guess that could be a whole video?
When it’s cold you want a spinnerbait in your hand. Allows you to sow down. I’ve got something planned for this. Stay tuned
How to find that reel Jason? I’ve looked a long time
welp time to hit that bell. hell yea.
i’m wondering where a fellow can get a 5.4:1 hypermag, please?
Great video!
Well produced video
Man you were on em that day!!!! Not gonna lie am a bit jealous after seein some of them tankers

Whew, that click at 3:23 gave me a little PTSD for a second! I felt the dread of clearing backlash and checking the spinnerbaits for you.
😂

Hey Jason what kinda speed are you getting out of your boat?
Awesome video! And nice fish! What home lake were you fishing..? If you were lol!?
Love it man. Great stuff
Covert runs true, looks great but bends quick .
Bend it back lol
What a fish!! Great job on video, looking forward to seeing more of these!
Appreciate it. Lots more coming
Nice I didn’t know this dude had a channel
I think I just found my new favorite learning channel -- thanks for what you do man! Going to apply these tactics for sure
Appreciate it. Plenty more to come
Jason, you emphasized how important the trailer is on a spinnerbait, but what about a trailer hook? I've heard it's super important but I've also seen the complete opposite.
I don’t use them. It causes me to hang up more and sometimes the fish will miss the big hook
He said it might be a crappie then pulls up a 2 1/2 lbs bass lmao. I’m may start crappie fishing if they hitting like that one
Jason do you ALWAYS throw a trailer on your blades? I have tried trailers and always end up with short strikes vs no trailer and they engulf it. What’s the time to throw trailer vs non
Have something coming for you at 6 tonight.
Do you use smaller wire on your 3/4. Oz
No. It’s actually a little thicker than 1/2 oz
Shhhhhhhh All those people turn there back on old faithful for there chatter wagon and other stuff. Life has been awesome while they where gone. Guess they will start coming back. No more info please 😂😂😂

Thanks. Have to credit my editor on that one. We will keep it going, glad it helps.
Do you use the sniper or shooter?
Power 2C FC
How cold of water will you throw it? Like mid to upper 30s water temp will you still throw it?
Typically when that first number is a 3, I will throw something else.
Love it now show us some of that jerk bait magic you got
Toledo has no grass anymore lol
