First place I looked was my shed. A guy in the landscaping business could build these all day long and spend way less than relying on Ebay. But a good idea is a good idea so I shared your video response for folks to check out.
My favorite mount on the yak is this homemade GoPole screwed into a female pvc cap that I attached behind the seat. It gives a great over-the-shoulder shot. I'll post a video soon of all the camera mounts I use on the kayak.
This was so easy, As a scuba diver this was just what I need. For more security on the mounting head I cut some plastic the size of the mount bottom for more support. All bout $ 12.00. couldn't find soft handle, just rapped with cord and varnished to seal.
I bet you would have to heat up something metal with the same tread, like a brass fitting, to cut the treads into the pvc cap...You have sparked my curiosity! I might have to try that.
Thanks for your Idea. I don't have a Go Pro. I used your idea about the sprinkler rod to make a lamp pole for the rear. The threads on the small end are 3/8. I didn't find this size in PVC, so I used one made of Brass.
Go to walmart and go to the sporting section. Buy a trekking pole.... aka a walking stick. Then use the Handlebar/seatpost/pole mount. EASY. Nice handle, extendable, safety strap, and doubles as a walking stick :P
I just made something similar, but not quite as fancy. I went with all PVC parts and went from 1/2" pvc pole to 1 1/4" plug on top with a flat end to mount the GoPro attachment piece. I have yet to test it out, but it should be great. Thanks for the idea!
I'm right there with ya on making stuff with what you have. I've guilty of DIY heaps of stuff for way more than I could have purchased the same item for. Keeps me busy and the satisfaction and learning from it often outways the cost of a bought item. I just know not everyone is as inclined to do so and thought I'd share On a re-read of my comment, sorry if the first statement came across as rude.
very nice. I just got a gopro yesterday so I am looking for a cheap way to mount a pole on my yak. I like how you mounted the gopro mount on the end. I may just use thicker pvc as a pole and stick it in my rocket launcher rod holder for starters. After that I hope to make videos as well done as yours.
i have watched this video maybe a year ago and i have recently just got a go pro and i have spent maybe about 2 months trying to find the video and this video is my fav plz make more go pro videos
Very cool. Take advantage of the super high definition video that the go pro puts out by uploading in full high def! Looking forward to fishing videos to come in 720p-1080p! This video only allows you to choose up to 360p which means it wasn't uploaded as HD. Hope you get it all worked out.
CONSTRUCTIVE criticism: learn the focal points of the camera. A lot of stuff is blurred, especially on the up close shots. Other than that, that's a fantastic service. Thank you very much.
To make it even cheaper to make for yourself, you really do not have to use epoxy on the end piece at all. The standard pvc glue you used on the end caps will work just as well on the end for the camera in holding the slip joint end cap into place there. I have done that many times in the past with threaded joints and such. Nice video and nice DIY video project.
I made part of this this video before I got my GoPro and before I knew how to use my editing software properly. Besides, nobody needs to see my ugly face in Hi-def!
How do you mount your GoPro in you yak? I just got one and am having a hard time figuring out how to keep it in a stationary, elevated position in the yak. If I put it in a rod holder, the things swings all over the place because the rod is larger than the rod holder. Suggestions?
Man for the price of those go pro reaches you could buy a telescoping pole that collapse to 5 and extends to 20+ feet. haha. Btw you sound like Christopher Walken.
Benny Gallegos That's practically impossible. I just bought a Sandisk Sansa Clip to capture sound. I'll then have to sync it over the video with editing software. It's a pain, but nothing in life is easy I suppose.
Whilst I like DIY stuff, you couldn't have looked too hard. I posted you a video response of of one you can snag off ebay for like 8 bucks delivered. My video shows you a quick look at it. Works fine for the go pro.
just so you know you could buy a tripod adapter for less than a dollar .. (it helps in alot of builds) www.dx.com/p/tripod-mount-adapter-for-suptig-camera-gopro-hero2-hero3-3-black-5-pcs-312219#.U_8YCvl_unY now i know thats an old video but still if you didnt know that that was worth it :)
$60 is an arm and a leg? lmao. And use a BMX grip instead of a rake handle. When it gets cold, you'll be glad you did because the rake grip will be like oil on pvc pipe.
He is not poor. Do u see how many tools he has. FYI those are expensive. And why pay 60 dollars for a pole that u can make for 10 dollars and his DIY works just as well.

to all who say you don't save enough to make it worth while, I say diy is great just for the satisfaction you will get from making the item.

your yak , is fantastic first of all , I love it .
This is excellent!
Awesome! Great idea :^)
Awesome pole man!! Great job! ;)
As always, finding a cheaper way to make an "expensive" product. Well done! I try to the same to my yak when possible as well.

Best light saber ever!
I love watching these videos you're so funny
Best one I've seen 👌

This man has a $300 GoPro yet he filmed this video with a potato... ?
Brilliant!!
Really smart !

Awsome!!
Nice job
2:31 now you're going to have to buy a new rake!!! HAHAHA
I made part of this this video before I got my GoPro and before I knew how to use my editing software properly. Besides, nobody needs to see my ugly face in Hi-def!
The top of the end is smaller than half inch...I couldnt find the top cap. Did you buy the plug at lowes too?
amazing

Great video! Quick question, is this DIY safe to put underwater?
Man for the price of those go pro reaches you could buy a telescoping pole that collapse to 5 and extends to 20+ feet. haha.

How do you get better audio sound on your gopro with the waterproof case attached?
Benny Gallegos That's practically impossible. I just bought a Sandisk Sansa Clip to capture sound. I'll then have to sync it over the video with editing software. It's a pain, but nothing in life is easy I suppose.
Do you like to send me one of your Tiki Float,awesome..would pay some..They look great!
Whilst I like DIY stuff, you couldn't have looked too hard.

My video shows you a quick look at it.
Works fine for the go pro.
lol but why would you render it at 360p?
Zoffinger for president!
Since you have a GoPro HERO 3, why is the video quality only 360 and not at least 1080p? Otherwise, I rate this video a 5 out of 10. Good creativity.
I filmed part of this with my old Panasonic handycam before the GoPro arrived in the mail.
+Staticnuts only a 5? Why not higher? I thought it was pretty good, though not much of a do-it-yourselfer.
Good
oooh lmao got you
'
i got a pole with 3 adjustments from the camping goods,,,
i put flexiable tripod and put on a pole with 2 screw steel cramps,,,
that is all
haha yeah my bad i thought you were for a second
If you find the funds you gotta try a 3D printer. Your plastic world will change fooorrreeevvver!
why is this only 360p????
Yarik83, can you share the name of your channel so we can watch them
Haha he died when he read the $69 lol 69696969696969
360p?
cool man
Render settings
i think you mean rihanna hahaha but hold up, you are the one who rendered it at 360p you should know why.
Go pro hero 3 black costs $400 and can't spend like 20 on a monopod that does not look like crap
Precursor to selfie sticks 😓
just so you know you could buy a tripod adapter for less than a dollar .. (it helps in alot of builds)

Beats me like Beyoncé
This isn't my video...
16 dollars not gopro
wow,,,... he that poor?!
No.. He has multiple gopros and a $1000 kayak lol
He is not poor. Do u see how many tools he has. FYI those are expensive. And why pay 60 dollars for a pole that u can make for 10 dollars and his DIY works just as well.
This is BS. You spent more than $10 doing all this, not to mention all the time spent. You can buy pretty good mono pods for under $20.
