I’ve always looked at you as the “grand father” of Honda swaps and making the kits, even years ago. Going from reading forums to now watching on UA-cam, love the content, information you’re more than willing to share and all the innovation you put into making the kits available to those that can’t fabricate themselves.
Just an FYI on future times trying to find "what touches" , for anyone with a similar problem, you simply tape a piece of cheap wax paper across the entire engine, a few pieces of painters tape holds it plenty, grab some red grease (or anything like grease/vaseline, I like red because its visible and I have a big tub of it, whatever youve got will do Smear it on the paper where you think it is hitting, shut the hood and youll have perfect transfer marks exactly where it is hitting. I do this alot for my rough cuts for hood exit exhausts, cheers
I used a few dabs of anti seize on my high points to mark the hood where I'd need to trim when I did my k swap. Wipes right off when you're done and marks the hood nicely
I’m working on a universal harness for ek or any swap to merge into existing harness. Do you think the 5v speed signal out on PCM will drive the stock clock at pin 18?
The speed signal out should be fine but it'll be too fast for the EK. It'll peg the speedo when the car goes about 8 mph. You will need a signal converter interface to get a slower pulse to run the stock speedometer.
So I was looking @ your k24 budget build for the EG. Everything looks pretty similar for the DC2 Integra as well. Do you know if a 05 Element wiring harness and ECU for automatic transmission can work for this build?
I want to modernize my 98 Civic LX 4-door. With a stock 2.4 AWD CVT automatic drivetrain from a 2017 CRV. For an AWD daily Civic that would be great in the winter.
@@VTECAcademy I have both vehicles. If I had the money and expertise, tools and help. I would definitely do it. I like my CRV but I'd rather cruise around in a AWD Civic.
I'm watching a few of your videos and I wonder if the L15b7 would fit into a 3rd gen prelude (88-91), and how much ground clearance would be lost.. the b20a5 seems to be less "tall" than basically every other honda motor, is that right? In your opinion, would I be best to build my existing motor, or is there a good swap candidate you would recommend?
Great thanks for the content, (almost purchased shirt but backordered). I'll get two when back in stock. Are the current orders(at least mine) being placed on back order a reflection that you are going to make engineering changes to drop the highest settings? Like you and gltcej2, I will be tracking the car at Gridlife and prefer the high settings. Really appreciate the timing on these videos and Hasports product innovation. I'm going to run the Acuity 10g shifter you mentioned with OEM fk8 type R cables and look forward to seeing your expirence there as well.
When I answered this earlier I wasn't aware what kit you were talking about. The Hasport EGLT kits are back ordered due to the small quantity we originally made, not because of possible changes. More are in production now. I'm not sure I am going to change the kit. I am going to install it as is and do more testing. The kit was designed in an EG chassis and the DC2 has more hood clearance. The purpose of the dual height wasn't for mounting it higher in the DC2, it was just to have a higher choice for some people who wanted more ground clearance. I probably shouldn't have been talking about a redesign. I was just thinking out loud.
@@VTECAcademy re: mount design Thanks and understood. In the future I'll email regarding specific order inquiries as to not nitpick language or create negative implications for the product line. I appreciate your open and honest video format.
@@mboz1080 I feel like it is in flux right now. The salvage yards haven't been trained to pull the swap as a "take out" (complete swap) like they do on K-series. I bought several L15B motors with turbo, trans, and accessories for $2500. The prices are all over the place right now. The parts needed are similar to the K swap, but the wiring is much more difficult. I don't have an accurate estimate, but probably $6-10,000 depending on the skill of the mechanic.
Hey brian i am starting a hot parts buisness would you be willing to let me send you a custom downpipe for the free in turn if you like it feature it on this build?
Hi Bryan, I need the half axel part number( or Vin number of car your engine came out from) on your engine in the integra please, whoops my half shaft is different to my New shafts that are now USA specific😅

That's a good tip. I'm going to try that. I usually go to clay on the high points to see how much lack of clearance I have.
Plus a couple of hood raisers will help will the clearance

Another good idea.
My fk7 with this engine is good. But it must be amazing in the Integra
Oh yeah! We can't wait to get it running.
So excited for this build and to see what you guys learn while I figure out my L15 swap!
This is awesome guys! Glad to know there will be more options for swaps to keep these older hondas on the road longer

Hell yeah! Thanks for the support!
Interested in doing this swap for a dc2 as well...which transmission did you go with ?
Something liket hat can be done on cg6 chassis🤔
of course :)
any chance l15b7 mounts coming out for the 3g civic?
Is the L15B7 the same dimensions as the K20C1? I ask because you did a video of putting a K20C in a Crx but would the L15B7 fit instead?
How would it be for L15B7 swap to cr-z & can we cr-z 6 speed trans ?

One more question related to axles. The J series inners for use with the Si trans. Is there a specific year/model of j series or any will do?
TL, CL, Accord from 08 and before.

@@VTECAcademy as far as budget for the swap what’s a good baseline number?

You can buy drill bit extensions.
I've bought those for drill bits, but this has a hex shaped shaft. I'll see if it is a standard hex dimension and what is available.
L15 ftw. love that motor
Hood spacers!?
That's an option.
Any ideas of this engine in the 84-87??
Not yet, we're still ironing out the DC2.

Did you ever end up making the bracket to lower the engine a little bit?
No, I'm still not sure I want to. I'll need to drive it like this first.
Has anyone tested fitment in an ED/EE/EF engine bay?
I'll try it out.
What is the inner cv shaft diameter on these axels ? , mine is approximately 27mm into the transmission.👀
I'll have to measure. But they are the same as K20.
