Finally an accord video , such under rated cars, they handle amazing . Also you can get some nice suspension upgrades from the tl type s. Using its front and rear sway bar and end links. You can even put a factory Honda Accord v6 6speed coupe strut tower bar to really dial in the Accord. Plus these Accord have such a huge fender well that you can fit bigger brakes and wheels for an amazing track car I’m thinking about doing this same thing on my 04 coupe it’s currently 5 speed but like you said it needs some more oomph
VTEC Academy also quick question what are you guys gonna use to run the engine instead of just using the base accord map. Could you also show us a video if you guys use k tuner or some other company to run the tsx engine
@@VTECAcademy how is ktuner working for you? Thinking about going the same route, except for keeping it drive by cable. I want to be able to put everything back if I decide to sell it later.
@@applepoop10I know this is a dead section but I just swapped a a2 into my brother's 06 accord. Did you use the stock ECU and if so did you tune it or just run it outright
These Accords have great body lines and a wide wheelbase potential. These would make great circuit drivers for weekend laps with the right mods. Shame people aren't willing to put in the work on more of these. I have one. A year into our build over here. Got suspension and braking finished, powerplant mods are going to be this years goals.
The accord ecu should work fine after a tune but I bet the issues are it’s looking for the egr valve and since the accord is an econo Vtec which activates at 2300 it was trying to activate it at too low of an rpm and freaked out when it saw super lean afr that looked like a pretty well laid out swap great video
I bought me a 2003 Accord 3.0 with 40k miles and yearly services at the Honda Shop. Very few problems; steering noise (new pump), needs engine mounts, needs new disc brakes and brake pads. Leather, steering wheel… everything looks like a 40k miles car. I have a new CRV but I’ll be putting a lot of miles into the Accord. I bought that model simply because I love it. Oh, and the radio back light is off. I’d like to change the stereo to an aftermarket screen 📺 but keeping those safe down in Mexico City can be a bit dicey. I went to Harvard and I’m not too sure of what I know. You guys are true masters though. I’d trade my knowledge for yours.
Great swap video! I just two questions - 1. Did you have to swap out the Accord engine wire harness for a TSX wire harness? 2. So in theory if you did have the OEM TSX ECU would it have plugged and played into the Accord harness or would you have to have the TSX interior harness..? Thanks 👍
Watching this swap reminds me of when I was cross shopping between a 7th gen Accord 4cyl and first gen TSX 6spd & why I went with a TSX. Always informative can’t wait to see the next installment of this project.
I'm so glad to see you guys working on one of these. I have a 2006 accord coupe with the k24 and 5 speed manual. I can second your synopsis of the suspension in the description. There is another video where we installed new suspension in the car. The Tein suspension that was in this car for this video is now in our TSX. Check those videos out.

Hi Brian,I love what you are doing with this Accord since I also have mine swapped and curently enjoring it. I swapped my 2003 Accord with a 2008 TSX engine with a 2005 Accord ECU/Ktuner but I'm still using my 5 Speed trans that originally came with my accord and planning on matching the TSX trans as well. Do you happen to have any details on the wiring for the reverse lockout on a 2005 Accord ecu with Ktuner chip? On a second note,I'm also planning on buying a secondary 2005 Accord with just the TSX transmission swap only for my daily since the car has a defective trans. Would you have any details on the wiring for just the transmission on stock 2005 Accord manual ECU since it has a mechanical reverse lockout? I've read a few post about wiring it to the brake wiring but can you shed some light on this?
I have an 07 accord with an automatic transmission. I was thinking of doing this exact swap. Is it all bolt in or did you have to do any modifications for cooling, exhaust etc? Did you just use a computer from the donor car or have to use a different computer? Thanks for the info.
It's bolt on since the 7th Accord and TSX are the same. They used the accord ECU for test driving but upgraded to KTurner to get more power. You can use TSX ecu or Hondata.
Thought I was the first one with this idea, extremely happy I found someone who's done it first. Will the motor respond well to a turbo? Should I do forged rods and pistons for reliability and future hp increases?
K engines respond pretty well to boost. However depending on your budget or your hp goals you might not even need to. 300 bhp on a k24 without any boost is possible
I've got a 2003 honda accord sedan and did the k24a2 swap reusing my 5speed trans off my old k24a4. To run the new motor swap i had to get a 2005 accord manual ecu and Ktuner to run everything and to be tuned. FFW 2 years later I pulled the motor and Trans. New trans, XTD 6 puck ceramic sprung clutch kit with lightened fly wheel, rear main seal, valve cover and spark plug gaskets/gromets, K20A2 Intake Manifold, Eagle Rods, 550cc Injectors, CAI, Innovative Mounts Solid 95A billet motor & trans mounts, Full A/C & compressor delete, Insane Shafts, and headers, down pipe (catless) with a full straight pipe to a DNA exhaust muffler. My only question is why did you guys decide to drop the motor from the bottom vs. just pulling it out through the top? IMO pulling it out through the top is sooooo much easier!!
I know this is old BUT in my opinion, dropping the engine and transmission through the bottom while still on the subframe is a lot easier when you have a lift than pulling from the top. Here is why: you basically remove everything as if you were pulling from the top with some key differences and those are: * Remove steering column bolt * Remove passenger and drivers side mount bracket bolts (from engine mount on passenger and top of transmission from drivers side) * Put a table lift underneath the subframe. I like mine from harbor freight because it can go up 4 feet. Jack it up and center it so that most of the subframe sits on it while the engine is centered to the table lift itself. * Once the table lift is in place, jack it up to the subframe * Completely unbolt the subframe and it should be freed from the chassis * Now as you life the car up and/or lower the table lift, the engine and subframe completely comes down as one unit and separates from the steering column This to me is easier because the amount of pain getting to that rear mount is a hassle and time consuming. The axels also have to come off before being pulled out of the car so eats more time since it's harder to pull the axles out while the engine is still in the car. You also risk cracking a sensor or damaging a mount or two due to more stress considering you have to support the engine when taking all mounts prior to pulling from the top. I've cracked TPS and radiators before accidently and have stressed mounts to where they aren't usable. Swapping never goes 100% well but some mistakes can be avoided. I've learned over time that dropping with the subframe can save you from breaking a lot of things and saves a lot of time. I've done a drop in 2 hours on my own like this. With the engine out on the subframe, it's a lot easier to remove the transmission mounts that are underneath, front and rear engine mounts and axles. Then putting the new engine on the subframe in reverse order is simple. It just sits right back on the subframe and no hassle with the rear mount, front mount or transmission mounts and underneath mount that support the transmission. You can even put the axels back on prior to putting the engine back in the car. Lining up the subframe is a lot easier underneath than lining up the engine up top when dropping back in since the engine is already aligned and seated on the subframe. Not to mention that you can put almost everything back on the engine and transmission and only need to worry about hoses and shift cables and clutch slave after the engine is back in the car. The only thing to align is the subframe, which naturally aligns the engine into the engine bay. No risk in damaging mounts or sensors as long as you line up the subframe to the chassis. Looks like a lot more work but in my opinion, a lot easier than from the top on these cars IF you have a lift. It's easier to work on mounts and other accessories while the engine is out and on the subframe.

I have an 03 accord throttle by cable k24a8 I'm wanting to put a k24a2 from a tsx which I assume is the engine you used here. My question is. Do I just use my intake and throttle body? I plan on using a 05 ecu with a ktuned end user installed. Is that a good plan?
do you fellas have an update on how the accord ecu ran on the TSX??? I have a complete accord swap from a donor car in my EG and I'm looking for more power and a tsx swap is an easy solution
Hi i also done the swap on 2006 tsx ..but the car wont crank and cant get the key out of the ignition..what i have to do,do i have bridge a wire or something..any help would appreciate it
im hoping since this video was done 5yrs ago, that i will get some advice and feedback. i have the redheaded stepchild of the accord, the 08 LX-P 2.4 non vtec. i want to take the motor out of it, cause it gives me issues and has spent more time at the dealer than my driveway, and put a vtec into it. prior to me getting this vehicle, i have and still do have mustangs and am clueless with hondas! which motor will be best for plug and play as a vtec into a non vtec car and what all will i need for this swap? Im wanting more power, easier modifications, tuning and such!
I have a question. I've bought a jdm 3 lobe k24a and would like to know what ecu and what to do to my wire harness so i can get this thing working please..
Would it be possible to just swap the k24a2 head onto the k24a8 block and then use Ktuner on a TSX base map to accomplish mostly the same goal? I have read some conflicting opinions on whether the k24a8 pistons would run into the k24a2 valves.
I bought a wrecked 04 tsx its a 6 speed I need a new engine in my 07 5 speed accord. Anyway the tsx has broken axles can I use my accord axles for the tsx transmission? Also the tsx was flipped. Dont know if I should just keep my trans or change it out later as the tsx trans just had a clutch put in it. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Question on this one, say I was to stay 5 speed with the k24a2, same exact year and model as the one you guys are working on. Since there would be no rewire for a reverse lockout would I be able to essentially use the accord mass airflow sensor and an accord ecu on k tuner? Just as a plug and play swap, load up the k24a2 base map and just run it like stock?
What ecu was used? Can you use an k24a4 accord 5 speed tranny for a k swapped Integra using hondata kpro? Because k pro requires an rsx ecu which means you need an rsx harness, but the Accord 5 speed or tsx speed have different sensors locations and wiring? Just run the wires to the new sensors and repin them at the ecus? The speed sensor on the Accord/tsx is a two wire and the rsx is a 3 wire. Where can I find ecu pin layouts for ecus? Cause I can't seem to find any and info would help me so much thank you!
Got my 7th gen accord with ktuner upgraded air intake manifold and throttle body and putting a 2.5 exhaust on it and trying to dial it I was wondering if yall could help
@vtec academy.I was gonna buy a 2005 Acura TSX automatic transmission witch they did a JDM engine and transmission swap because of high mileage but the person telling me that everything works fine but the sport mode, says transmission wont engage into sport mode.Owner did tell me that they had to replace few plugs cause they were different from jdm tranny.Any idea on how to get sport mode to work again?
Hello commenting on a older and related video as I don't know if I accidentally spamed your email lol it wasn't loading when I would hit submit , I have questions regarding swaping my ecu to the rsx type s ecu. I'm wondering whats needed in order to swap the ecu's to have proper tunabilty and room for future turbo and awd conversions. My understanding is I need to either use k miata timing cover made for the z3 or swap to a tsx bottom end. If there is other options I would love to Learn. Any 03-05 k24a4 auto or Manuel accord ecu will work, ktunner is a chip that is installed on stock ecu. To have it installed for you is about 700$ from hamotorsport
Considering you are dropping in a TSX, which has no EGR, what are you doing with the coolant lines that come from the firewall that goes to the EGR off the K24A4? Are you re-routing these or capping them off somehow?
@@VTECAcademy thanks for the response. My K24A cylinder had doesn't have the coolant pipe for that EGR delete so there's no way to plug up the coolant hose from the firewall to it. If you say it should plug right up, that makes me think it should have a coolant pipe on the EGR delete and perhaps I need to pull off the one from the K24A4 one?
Which lower radiator/coolant hose did you end up going with? I stuck with the Accord one from my 2003 on the K24A engine. Works ok but it sits right above that front engine mount. Overtime and with vibration, I suspect that hose will tear and leak. I'd like to prevent that.

5 speed all wheel drive I just wish they came with a j series engine I will like to see one with a 2jz install I think it would be a one off since no one has done one and since you guys are so good and professional at swaps I'd like to do something like this with the help of you guys so I won't screw it up thanks again
What would be the difference if you had a 2005 honda accord with the drive by cable and you wanted to put in the TSX engine with a DBW?
I need this answer too
Im sorry but how are you doing the additional 90 degree turn without changing the torque spec from what i thought was 36ft pounds wouldnt that be “mistreating” a torque wrench
idk how TF you guys get such a good deal on motors n swap. damnnnnnn
Junk yard hunting.
That’s still a good deal at my yards here engine is 380 and trans is 176 no harness or anything
Not sure I have the whole b18 swap car not sure what I need to take off and use and what I would need to buy ... thanks
Do you know why all the accords shake? Worn inner driveshaft joints. Whats the cause and how to forever fix it? Everyone has the same problem...
I have a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L 2.4L. what's the best motor to buy and put into it? Looking for more power.
You could turbo that K24.
It has 186k miles. Still runs great and has been well kept though
Can you send me a link to a turbo kit that would be compatible. It's an earth dreams motor
I have an 03 accord throttle by cable k24a8 I'm wanting to put a k24a2 from a tsx which I assume is the engine you used here. My question is. Do I just use my intake and throttle body? I plan on using a 05 ecu with a ktuned end user installed. Is that a good plan?
I have learned a lot from VA
do you fellas have an update on how the accord ecu ran on the TSX??? I have a complete accord swap from a donor car in my EG and I'm looking for more power and a tsx swap is an easy solution
Is the shift linkage bracket same as the accord ?
Hi i also done the swap on 2006 tsx ..but the car wont crank and cant get the key out of the ignition..what i have to do,do i have bridge a wire or something..any help would appreciate it
Dont know much about the accord K, I found a manual 2.4 accord in the yard. Was wondering if anything is useful off it?
im hoping since this video was done 5yrs ago, that i will get some advice and feedback. i have the redheaded stepchild of the accord, the 08 LX-P 2.4 non vtec. i want to take the motor out of it, cause it gives me issues and has spent more time at the dealer than my driveway, and put a vtec into it. prior to me getting this vehicle, i have and still do have mustangs and am clueless with hondas! which motor will be best for plug and play as a vtec into a non vtec car and what all will i need for this swap? Im wanting more power, easier modifications, tuning and such!
I love your videos ,
Jonathan Barros Thanks, man!
I have a question. I've bought a jdm 3 lobe k24a and would like to know what ecu and what to do to my wire harness so i can get this thing working please..
Olie Olson k tuner
What harness did u use?
Edwin Aquino non ktuner rev1 is plug and play
Did u ever get it running
@@probong2053 yeah just swapped the original harness and used the old ecu.
Did you have to do anything to make the speedo work or was that plug and play?
What's the name if that tool?? I would like to purchase one so I wont struggle removing the crankshaft bolt. Thanks
Would it be possible to just swap the k24a2 head onto the k24a8 block and then use Ktuner on a TSX base map to accomplish mostly the same goal? I have read some conflicting opinions on whether the k24a8 pistons would run into the k24a2 valves.
Brian, I bought a K24A2 with 300kms on the engine, it was on an Automatic car. Should I keep it and rebuild it? Or try and find something else?
If the oil was changed on a regular basis, it may be in good condition still.
VTEC Academy okay, we’ll hopefully when I crack it open I’ll find out.
Enjoy. I love my tsx!
Did you keep your existing Accord shifter or swap it with a TSX shifter for your 6sp trans?
Element exhaust manifold the same as the accord and tsx?
I bought a wrecked 04 tsx its a 6 speed I need a new engine in my 07 5 speed accord. Anyway the tsx has broken axles can I use my accord axles for the tsx transmission? Also the tsx was flipped. Dont know if I should just keep my trans or change it out later as the tsx trans just had a clutch put in it. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Could I do this swap on a 2012 accord and keep the automatic transmission?
Not with this engine. You would use the 2012-15 Civic Si engine or the 2009-14 TSX engine.
I’m not asking if you work on other ppl cars. I asked if the stock mounts on my accord would accept a tsx motir
Yes they will.
I am doing this same exact swap WHAT DO I DO CONCERNING THE ECU?
Any new updates on this build?
Killer music! Where’d ya get it??
That kid with glasses had the perfect world of Warcraft gamer physique.
Yes you would.
Wheres the next episode??
I'm interested in that sweet house/ full size workshop setup. Os that custom? Either way, it's pretty sweet.
The house came with the garage-mahal
I'm guessing it would be the same concept for swapping a k24z7 out of a 13 civic SI for a k24a2, running it with the 13 civic SI ecu?
In an 08 to 12 Accord, yes. Although I'd use the Accord ECU reflashed for the engine.
What happen to the next episode about the ecu ?
If you did the tsx ecu u would have to use in emoblizer thing from k tuned
Hello commenting on a older and related video as I don't know if I accidentally spamed your email lol it wasn't loading when I would hit submit
, I have questions regarding swaping my ecu to the rsx type s ecu. I'm wondering whats needed in order to swap the ecu's to have proper tunabilty and room for future turbo and awd conversions.
My understanding is I need to either use k miata timing cover made for the z3 or swap to a tsx bottom end. If there is other options I would love to Learn.
Cheers 🍻 from a guy trying to break 14 seconds in a *semi* stock boat (current best 14.7)
@vtec academy I have a 2008 Honda Accord 4 door in which I swapped for a tsx I am using the Rsx 6 speed transmission but I am having a passenger side axel issue what do you recommend ? Please help
You should be able to sue the Accord intermediate shaft and axle with no problems.
I need info on what to do for ktuner??? Didnt see a updated video on your channel. I am ready to do swap just need to figure out ECU.
Any 03-05 k24a4 auto or Manuel accord ecu will work, ktunner is a chip that is installed on stock ecu. To have it installed for you is about 700$ from hamotorsport
I was thinking about doing this but just swapping the head on the crv wouldent you have Been able to just swap the head
I know this video is old but how long did it take you guys to get the motor and trans out?
Considering you are dropping in a TSX, which has no EGR, what are you doing with the coolant lines that come from the firewall that goes to the EGR off the K24A4? Are you re-routing these or capping them off somehow?
The stock ones work. The EGR manifold on the K24A4 and on the manifold on the K24A2 engines have the same coolant pipe location.
@@iamteedoh You can do that and just plug the EGR port with a block off plate. That is how it works on the 06 Civic Si which shares a similar head.
@@VTECAcademy thanks a bunch for verifying that! I'll do just that.
Which lower radiator/coolant hose did you end up going with? I stuck with the Accord one from my 2003 on the K24A engine. Works ok but it sits right above that front engine mount. Overtime and with vibration, I suspect that hose will tear and leak. I'd like to prevent that.
How do you guys not have 1 million subscribers?
Steve M Spread the word! Thanks for the support.
Is there a step by step vid for this trying do this for my accord
Is there a special underdash harness that I can get made I have a 03 Honda Accord with a K24a4 vtec killer tax cams and cam gear and I can’t get it to start coil pack 1&2 get hot on stock harness with kpro I have a k20 harness but I can’t connect it to the under dash and tips guys
Good job.
I have a 2011 Accord EX-L auto which i'm pretty sure has a K24Z3 engine. How realistic would it be to add a turbo setup(with tune of course)?
Michael Thoma auto not so realistic
I have a 2003 honda accord v6 with manual transmission. I want to put a new motor in it. Can I use a motor out of another accord with same year and motor but with automatic transmission?
Yes
Who did your ktuner chip installation?
Hell yeah brother good video as always ..love this stuff wish I could help..
Same motor I put on my ep3 with rbc manifold
Josh Jones how’s that running hp wise?
OG Salinas in 3rd gear it made 237 wheel and 192tq, not sure why tuner did it in 3rd so I'm figuring in 4th prob make around 215wheel
Josh Jones what’s the whole difference from being in 3rd to 4th just curious because I’m getting mine tuned soon
OG Salinas I heard u get a more accurate reading not sure to be honest I wish I knew
They usually dyno cars in the gear nearest to a 1:1 ratio . You might think I’m crazy but if he dynoed in a higher gear it would have read higher power numbers .
Hi Guys, as always you did an amazing job there. I’m doing this same swap and this has helped me a lot and was wondering if there’s any more detailed info regarding reverse lockout wiring info in your website. Thanks.
Video coming soon.
VTEC Academy Awesome!! Can’t wait. Thank u.
I have a few questions idk if you guys will reply or not but I want to start of by saying this was a VERY helpful and informative video but did you guys find out what the engine code was for and why? And also I’m planning on doing this swap in my 05 accord and I wanted to know can I use my accord ecu with the accord automatic tranny without a tune on the ecu? And also I was told that I would have to put my accord throttle body on the tsx intake manifold cause it’s a jdm tsx engine and I just wanted to know if that’s true I would realllllyyyyy appreciate it if you could let me know no I have talked can give me a straight answer. Thank you
And also in simplistic terms will I be able to pretty much “plug and go” with the tsx engine in my accord?
Can this be done with oem 7th Gen mounts? Ie the tsx will go in with my mounts?
Do you still have reverse look out while driving after the swap?
I was curious can I swap my 03 civic with a k24 k20 with just a donor car or do I need to get other stuff to go with swap as well. In other words can I just get a wrecked 5 speed Honda Accord and just put everything into my civic.
It requires mounts, but if you have an RSX donor car you have most everything else.
Fuck yea real videos finally Honda beeest
Help me out here. I’m using accord 5 speed transmission. Can I use the axles or do I need tsx axles? I hear the accord axles were shorter in length.
For your Accord, use the Accord axles. You also need the 2003-2013 Accord or 2004-2014 TSX manual intermediate shaft. The auto one won't work. The shorter Civic/RSX intermediate shaft won't work either.
@@VTECAcademy also can I use the 03 accord 5 speed manual engine harness?
