Graphics do look a lot better and the world does seem alive but these developers keep releasing new versions every year when they could easily be DLC!
Dovetail has been doing this with almost every franchise, I think it's a shady way to bring newcomers in. For them, it's a whole new game, for returning players is the same old stuff with some additions. There was an attempt to bring "paid upgrades" for returning people, but they scrapped it after TSW 2. Shame.
They can charge more for a new game versus a 25 dollar dlc.

Hallo liebe Leute,
ja, ich weiß, Train Simulator World 5 steht schon in den Startlöchern, und viele von euch fragen sich bestimmt, was sich im Vergleich zu den Vorgängern, insbesondere zu Teil 4, wirklich verändert hat. Man könnte meinen, es ist wie bei FIFA: Jedes Jahr erscheint eine neue Version, aber das Spiel bleibt im Kern doch dasselbe. Bei Train Simulator World 5 jedoch wollen wir genau das ändern und echte Innovationen einbringen, die das Spielerlebnis auf ein neues Level heben.
Eine der größten Neuerungen, die ich mir wünsche, ist die Integration von künstlicher Intelligenz (KI). Stellt euch vor, ihr könntet mit Hilfe von KI eure eigenen Strecken erstellen! Wie wäre es, eine Strecke von Hamburg nach München zu designen, die bis ins kleinste Detail ausgearbeitet ist - von Tunneln über Brücken bis hin zur Landschaftsgestaltung? All das wäre durch die fortschrittliche KI, wie z.B. GPT-4, möglich. Diese könnte auf die riesigen Datenmengen aus dem Internet zugreifen, um eine präzise und realistische Strecke zu generieren, ohne dass man auf teure DLCs oder professionelle Designer angewiesen wäre.
Heute gibt es bereits Programme, mit denen man mit Hilfe von KI eigene Musik komponieren kann. Warum sollte das also nicht auch für das Erstellen von Strecken in einem Spiel gelten? Die KI könnte so mächtig werden, dass sie ganze Routen generiert, die den persönlichen Vorlieben der Spieler entsprechen. Das würde das Spielerlebnis nicht nur bereichern, sondern auch eine völlig neue kreative Freiheit ermöglichen.
Natürlich stellt sich die Frage, ob solche Innovationen nicht auch Auswirkungen auf die Menschen haben, die derzeit in der Spieleentwicklung arbeiten. Wenn die KI in der Lage ist, Strecken zu generieren, könnten einige befürchten, dass dadurch Arbeitsplätze gefährdet werden. Doch ich denke, dass dies auch neue Chancen eröffnen könnte - etwa in der Gestaltung und Verfeinerung von KI-generierten Inhalten oder in anderen kreativen Bereichen.
Die technische Entwicklung ist heute so weit fortgeschritten, dass selbst die Navigation und alle notwendigen technischen Details problemlos durch KI umgesetzt werden könnten. Das würde nicht nur das Spielerlebnis verbessern, sondern auch den Zugang zu neuen Inhalten für alle Spieler erheblich erleichtern.
Ich habe hohe Erwartungen an Train Simulator World 5 und hoffe, dass die Entwickler diese Möglichkeiten der KI-Integration erkennen und nutzen. Die Zukunft des Simulators könnte damit revolutioniert werden - und das wäre ein echter Schritt nach vorne!

I see they still haven’t been able to solve the rendering problems when driving at higher speeds. The tracks still only cast shadows 10m ahead of the train, trees also don’t render in the distance… Why release new versions of the same game from 8 years ago?

Wow still can't extend the rail shadows into the distance. This has been like this for multiple releases.
It’s like everything has a rendering distance of 10 meters. Even the trees and buildings aren’t able to render in high detail further than that.
That’s not a limitation from the game engine. Maybe they made some optimizations to be able to run smooth on Ps5 but with the wrong decisions about shadow quality, distance and so on.
Does this run better than train sim world 3 did on the PlayStation 5?
