      Hi Brian, glad you like the video..
      I don’t usually fish on the western coast of Malaysia.. eastern coast has much clearer water which Ajis prefer..
      I have heard that pangkor island do have Ajis but I haven’t try it personally..

  • @4726052
    @4726052 2 роки тому

    Great video. Do jig head shapes make much of a difference? Also, what would you choose in murkey/muddy water?

    • @DixonicQ
      @DixonicQ  2 роки тому +1

      Shape of the jighead does make a different. If Ajis are targeting bait fishes, a slimmer or a delta sharp jig head would help when you’re darting your rig.
      Rounder or broader profile jighead will sink slower than slim ones.
      Depending on what they’re feeding on, we always try to match the hatch..

      @@DixonicQ thanks for the reply. Jig shape has been something I've been experimenting with but was curious if it actually made a difference.

    I appreciated this video because I'm a newbie. I learned action technique and basic discipline. And I have one question: Your rod has a long rear grip. Don't you feel uncomfortable when casting? Many Korean anglers use a short rear grip for ajing.

    • @DixonicQ
      @DixonicQ  3 місяці тому +1

      I do use short butt rod as well.. the rod I’m using in this video is a longer rod which is designed for micro jigs.
      As I had fish at this spot many times, I know that the Aji’s are further out in the dark.. with a longer rod, it gives me the distance. The longer butt also assist me to cast further using the pull back matter..

    Hey Dixon, do you know if the east coast park white jetty has lolong? If yes, how do I catch them?

    • @DixonicQ
      @DixonicQ  2 роки тому

      Very unlikely to have lolongs there as lolong need deeper n clearer water.
      In sg, places with record of lolong are at MCC, MCE, St. John jetty and Labrador Park jetty.

    Hi, can you share in the morning what colours is more effective?

    • @DixonicQ
      @DixonicQ  2 роки тому +1

      If there some sunlight, any colour with sparkle works well. I personally like clear couple with dust of sparks in it.
      If it’s a gloomy day. Solid colour like orange or brown is suitable.

  • @UBWR2022
    @UBWR2022 Рік тому +1

    Hi Dixon, I have a question if the lolong are at deeper column let’s say 20 seconds. Do you cast your line and retrieve slack and wait to countdown to 20 secs? Or do you cast and retrieve slack and open your bail arm to allow it to sink to 20 seconds then close and retrieve.
    Thanks in advance as I’m really curious

    • @DixonicQ
      @DixonicQ  Рік тому +1

      I cast, collect slack and wait. I don’t open bail arm as opening bail arm, you wouldn’t be able to do what we call a tension fall and your line will be subjected to wind blowing it everywhere.
      But in some condition I do open bail arm. For example, current is very fast and closing bail will float my rig up to the surface. In those conditions, I will do a controlled release by cupping my spool with my thumb and index finger releasing line with tension.

    does the soft plastic bait have to use a GID? especially if I'm fishing in a low light area, thanks

    • @DixonicQ
      @DixonicQ  11 місяців тому

      GID soft plastic are preferred. Still it has to depends on the light conditions. For instance,
      -low light as in there’s some street lamps or even moon light, used a more natural colour.
      -Slightly brighter or full moon, you can try solid colours.. ajis will be attached to the silhouette of your soft plastic..
      - Total darkness, GID soft plastic works well..
      Another factor is the clarity of water, if water is cloudy or not as clear, GID soft plastic works well. Or Ajis are active in the depth where light can’t penetrate, GID too works well..
      Hope the above helps you in your strike rate.
      Happy Ajing..

    • @DixonicQ

    Thank you so much for this detailed tuto, very appreciated! Just one thing, you are passing very fast on the line description, understand using ester line because it has heavy density, but which size are you using please? Have checked these lines and seem to be so thin... also, are you adding any fluoro leader? Maybe larger size than the mainline itself to prevent cut by some fish with teeth? Thank you again.

    • @DixonicQ
      @DixonicQ  8 місяців тому +1

      I use between 1.4lb - 2.3lb polyester line depending on the environment. In this video, I was using 2.3lb pair with 4lb fluorocarbon leader. As I’m targeting Ajis, they r inhalers without teeth. My 4lb leader is more for abrasion again under water structures.

    • @DixonicQ
      @DixonicQ  2 місяці тому

      It all depends on what the Ajis are feeding on.. continuous retrieval or darting retrieval will be effective if they were chasing small bait fish. If they’re feeding on planktons. Use a light jighead to let your rig glide through to mimic plankton..
