He’s got another amazing song on Gems with Benjamin Tod called “Blue Eyes Dancing”. Matt plays fiddle, Benjamin plays rhythm guitar. It’s such a cool song
So glad you got to Matt Heckler finally. I haven't seen him in a couple years but he was a good friend when we were growing up. He was building banjos out of cigar boxes before he knew how to play them. If you get the chance, check out his old band Deep Chatham!
Saw him live (with Lost Dog Street Band) at the Troubadour in Hollywood a couple of years ago. I had never heard of him before then and instantly fell in love with his music.
Love Matt and am so glad Gems introduced me to his music. If you like to play along to this song, head over to the original video or Ultimate Guitar, I tabbed this one. Love your videos a lot Michael, inspiring to me as a musician as well
I watched your Bo Burnham reaction a couple weeks ago. I've gone back to watch it a few times. I've decided to subscribe and watch your channel despite not knowing anything about guitar and have no interest in learning. Just love the energy you give off!
It's a different kind of reaction, isn't it? I don't just mean because he has a guitar and a wealth of knowledge with the instrument and he intertwines it into the reaction. I mean beyond that, it's authentic right? Like.. idk. I watch quite a few of these reaction videos and it seems like more often than not it's "First time hearing- Insert song you know damn well the person has heard before" and the rare chance they haven't, you still get the vibe they already played it once or twice and kinda mapped out their reaction, right? Michael's reactions feel real. And I gotta give props to the viewers too. Without them, some of these reactions wouldn't have been suggested. I literally wouldn't have heard of Colter Wall if not for this channel. Or this amazing young man Matt Heckler. If by chance you see this Michael, and you can make room for it. I think you might love Brown Bird. So many lovely songs but I think this version of Bilgewater might be my favorite. It's only more intense when you understand this is literally months before he died of Leukemia. He's singing about pushing through obstacles in life no matter how daunting. Meanwhile pale and pasty, sweat pouring from his brow it's just all up in the feels. ua-cam.com/video/-O5H1aezjuA/v-deo.html
Hey I've played with Matt! Damn this is really cool to see ya do a video on him ! Wish you could've met Tomas who the song is about. If you look up "profane sass" ,Tomas is the beautiful man singing!!. Much love y'all
"Blue Eyes Dancing" is my favorite song by Matt as well. I sent Matt a text asking him to come to The Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago to perform. I would love to see him in person.
Been a fan for a year. Don’t know it you’ve done this track. Having some family medical emergency and am losing myself in music. Mind breaking down Govt Mule, where’s my mule Conan way back when. Kind regards, Jeff

I’ve never seen you react to Heath Sanders, so I think this video that he just posted two hours ago is one you should hear. If you don’t know who he is, he worked on an oil drilling rig and posted a video on UA-cam covering Chris Stapleton’s “Either Way” which went viral and then he went on the Bobby Bones show and after that went full time into a music career. Check out this video of his song “Daddy Won’t Sell the Farm!” ua-cam.com/video/BijH3pUfcPI/v-deo.html
Noticed you haven't taken a look at some live loop videos from Elise Trouw. Here's her mashup of Foo Fighters and 70s Bobby Caldwell. She has also written her own songs as well so you're not limited to covers.. ua-cam.com/video/Gl9GtO_vQxw/v-deo.html
