I have been enjoying your videos for several years, and just bought your little e-book on mono printing, which I really enjoyed, especially for the examples of your work. I'm a volunteer with my local art museum, organizing zoom discussions for our print council about printmaking and current exhibitions, and have been thinking about ways to get our members involved in making prints as well as discussing them; I'll be suggesting your UA-cam videos as a great resource. Thanks for all the inspiration and information!
Thank you so much, it is good to know that the videos inspire others. I think the techniques I show would help anyone who is a little nervous about how to begin. I hope your students get some great results.
Your process is endlessly fascinating....such simple materials, but an infinite possibility in each print. Thank you for sharing this.
You are so welcome! And thanks for watching.
YAY! Thanks for the new video, Dan! I get so inspired from watching your work. Hope you are doing well.
Thank you! You too! Glad you enjoyed the demo, hope to make a few more this month.
This is a wonderful video of your process. I love watching it ! It sure does get the creative juices flowing!
Thank you so much!

Yes it is good to be back, more demos this month. Thanks for watching.
Wonderful! Watching you working is my therapy. Thank you :)
Excelent as always...
I appreciate that
Fascinating to watch, your art is inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing. I’m always struck by how your work can look ancient and yet futuristic at the same time. I so enjoy it.
Thank you so much!
J’adore vous regardez travailler.Merci de partager 👏C’est tellement stimulant
I just love watching you work, Dan. And, on a separate note, I’m relating to this particular piece. I’m getting it.
Thanks very much' glad you enjoyed it.
Fabulous new lesson, you just energise one's spirit, THANKYOU!
You are so welcome!
You are just endlessly inspiring to me. Heartfelt thanks.
You are so welcome
so inspiring .. thank you again
You are so welcome!
Love this! Could you do this to a canvas instead of on paper?
Yes but it helps if the canvas is primed first as the technique does work better on a smooth surface.
Love you Dan!! I use all sorts of materials too for texture! 🐞🦢🌻
Thanks. it's good to experiment
When I read textures and oil stick I assumed you would be using frottage over miscellaneous surfaces to capture textures, but still love what you did here even though it wasn't what was expected.❤️🙂
I love the width of that oil stick!
Didn't know they came so wide, I've only ever seen slender sticks and that were used in a grocery store back in the 70s & early 80s to mark our own grocery prices on the products (back when shoppers were trusted to be honest).
I was thinking about using charcoal branches of various types for collecting frottage textures from around the neighborhood but a wide oil stick like yours would be faster, easier, and much less messy.
I think it would be the best choice compared to graphite, lead, pastels, and soft pastels, crayons, water soluble crayons, etc.
It is worth experimenting with these, not to be confused with oil pastel which would not work. You can make your own which I might film a demo. The oil sticks are great for working on canvas.
@@DanTirels This is so good to know. I was thinking they were the same as oil pastels. Would you please tell us what oil stick you use and where we might find one?
@@DanTirels I only work on paper products for now, but nice to know it works on canvas in case I want to use it some day.
I'm hoping it will also work as a resist for acrylic paint, but not bothered if it won't.
Are you transferring from a tissue paper or a thin piece of plastic sheet?
This is plastic
Loved watching you do this! Are you using a Jack Richeson Shiva Oil Paintstik?
I am using a Sennelier 38ml oil stick here, then can be a bit pricey but they are great to use.
I really liked this! I am going to try it! About your mono printing booklet, do you send to the U.S.?
Yes! That is not a problem, although there are some delays with USA postal service.
@@DanTirels Great! Thanks!
Im here for the heavy breathing 😉
Sorry, I will be investing in a new microphone.
@@DanTirels Just teasing you. I love your videos! You are so creative, and I find your process so interesting to watch. Thank you for sharing.
