Trout Fishing New Mexico's Red River

- Northern New Mexico is littered with places to catch trout. The New Mexico Game & Fish does a wonderful job stocking the region's lakes, rivers and creeks often with mostly rainbow trout. Meanwhile, Red River is planted by local groups and the state. It creates one of the better fisheries in the region and enables locals and tourists to catch quality trout only steps from restaurants, hotels and shopping. We walked the bank for two quick hours on a busy late spring day and armed with Pautzke's new Fire Balls, Fire Bait and Silver Label salmon eggs caught dozens of trout while filming this episode of Pautzke Outdoors.

Viva New Mexico !
Great place
That cabin closet to the left is where we stay all the time
Great story . Be Well and upload another soon .
lots of fun, but you should consider pinching the barbs to reduce the tissue damage to the fish. And if you can, keep them from flipping and bouncing on the rocks. Love the content. Keep it up.
New Mexico represent! Love trout fishing!!!
Love the videos!! I went to Red River on Thursday. I used the new Fire Balls and Fire Salmon Eggs (Silver Label). And I was catching left and right. I was fortunate to catch a 13 inch and 14 1/2 inch rainbow trout. The rest were about 8 to 10inches. 👍 Pautzke RULES!!! Thanks a bunch!!!
Great job!
nice vid. What does the rig look like? Looks like a 24" leader (depending on depth)... but where in the rig are the split shots? ...10" from the hook? TIA
I used to live in Red River. I've fished the river from the upper valley to the Rio Grande. The best fishing was west of town and not in the fawn lakes.
Where exactly is this spot?
Nice video friend
That is a beautiful River
And lots of people around town, too!
Uh-huh . The Jemez river is too .
the river is on your way to toas ski valley
I love catching wild browns on dry flies on the upper river. Great, unique fishery.
Come on man! Loosen the drag and stop holding the fish so close to the camera! Yeah they’re big for the river fish but you guys hype the hell out of this, especially with the loose drag!
Aaron, when we come back maybe you can show us how to catch larger fish? We can't wait. Do you guide?
I go there every year
Nice . In mid spring you might see a Bald Eagle or Osprey or two hanging out in the trees along the river trying to get a fish . It's cool .
I live in New Mexico I think Red River is good to teach your kids to catch good old rainbow trout
Cutthroats are the trickiest . Your kid is a genuine angler if he pulls in one of them .
you guys should go to the twinning river by toes ski valley
We've never heard of it. Can you use bait?
I love to watch NM episodes
