Not sure if you'll see this, but you have provided the most informative review of the P1000 I've seen. I have a story to tell that's too long for a comment. But yes, I bought one of these recently. It's nice to see an honest review of this camera from a person that actually uses it. I've watched many "serious" reviewers totally dismiss it, poo poo it, or downright make fun of it. (Kai Wong comes to mind) But the fact that this video (a very good and informative one btw!) got over 71,000 views shows there's interest in and a market for such a camera. Good job.
I think a lot of people poo-poo point and shoots. But you can get very good images with a point and shoot, it's just more challenging in certain conditions.
Really good. Thank you for this. I’ve owned a P1000 for three months and it’s great to have everything I’ve noticed confirmed. A couple of other points to add. The extreme digital zoom can only be used in jpg. The Moon Mode only allows you to use jpg. A feature of the Moon Mode is that it assumes you’ll be shooting on a tripod and puts the camera into three second delay mode to allow the camera shake to die down before releasing the shutter.
What a refreshingly honest and down-to-earth review. My son loaned me this camera to play with and, I wanted to watch a few reviews before taking it out. I had watched several reviews from the most popular photography channels and all of them just totally trashed this camera because it has a cell phone size sensor or, it doesn’t take as good of pictures as their existing $15,000 professional setup. I have not shot with SLR for thirty years. I looked at cameras for over two months. I considered mirrorless, DSLR, the EXPENSE of multiple lenses, compacts you name it... I wanted to enjoy photography (not publish or print) again. I shot on the birding mode for my first time in a low gray Vancouver BC cloudy day, both video and still. I was wowed and pleased. I got great inside close up shots of Christmas tree ornaments. I tend to not shoot in the rain, but bought a huge golf umbrella for walks with my wife to hold if I shoot. I understand all the negatives you mentioned in the video, but I am still wowed by what I got in this camera for the price as an average Joe on the street who is recovering this hobby in retirement. If I was a "pro" I might be disappointed, but I can do SO much with this camera. Already people have been amazed by pictures I took. Thanks for your candid and honest review.
Thanks Steve. You're right, it's a very versatile camera. I didn't even mention the ability to shoot macro in the video, but I've also found it to come in handy a couple times. I think this will be a fun camera to play with for years to come.
Steve Wallace I was forced into retirement through ill health about 10 years ago. Although I learnt my way round the darkroom about 45 years ago and had a SLR for as long I’d always tried to avoid making photography my main hobby as it was my older brother's thing. I decided to return to my childhood passion of birdwatching and nature, it wasn’t long before I realised I wanted to record what I see and I bought myself a Fujifilm HS30EXR and even though this would have been 9 years ago, like yourself, I was blown away by the quality. I can imagine just how much bridge cameras have advanced since mine hit the market. I admit I now have a couple of prosumer DSLRs now and a few analogue cameras with my own darkroom, but I still have my 9 year old bridge camera in my wife's car. It is also capable of taking a decent image, even if it does take an age to record a RAW file. I hope your rediscovered hobbies give you as much joy as mine have given me, though with a much healthier bank account as photography is very addictive...as is birdwatching.
I never went the DSLR way after SLR, like you Mark. I have used a series of Fujifilm bridge cameras over the years and heartily agree with you regarding the HS30EXR. The photos have been exceptional. I sold mine to my sister and progressed to the HS50EXR and would be still using it if I can figure out how to successfully remove the rubberised surface which has gone sticky. A brilliant camera just the same. I moved on the the Panasonic Lumix FZ2000/2500 with the brilliant Leica 24-480 lens. Just bought the P1000 and yet to use it. I don't think I will use it to replace the other cameras though. A time and place for each I guess...Cheers and I hope good health is with you now...
Good honest review. I use the Lumix FZ80 and live with similar limitations but have also learned to get the most out of the camera. Since it is smaller and lighter I don't use a tripod and am even able to get larger birds in flight.
I have owned one of these now for a month. I have taken photographs of the Moon and birds. I put the photographs mainly on Facebook I am an amateur who takes pictures for fun. This camera does everything I need. Would I suggest buying one Yes. For an amateur hobbyist like me, it does all I need I am very happy with my purchase. I don't need commercial quality I don't want to carry an assortment of the different lenses. I have no regrets I brought the Nikon P1000.
Hi Marcus. Thanks for great vid on NP1000. I bought this camera back in 2021. Took some amazing pics of a baby red tail hawk that was sitting in an oak tree right above where I was. After that I had a lot of issues getting the camera to focus. I tried the moon…nothing. My brother has the Nikon 900 and he takes great pics of the moon. I am out in nature mostly and my interests are in the animals and birds in nature. I’m going to give the NO1000 another shot and hopefully I can get some good pics. I’m a stones throw away from Hwy 1 coast in California and am partial to the birds, like pelicans. Thanks again.
Thanks Marcus for your review. I learned something. I have the camera now for a month and love it. As others also say, you keep it in clear language. I do not mind the logo's, but I love what you've done with it ;)
New sub here. Great review. I have the P900 and P1000. Along with a mirrorless Sony. I love the P1000 and haven’t come close to regretting it! Mostly bird photos and the Sony can’t come close to the shots I can get with the P1000 with the range. The thing about this camera is it gives you the opportunity to get shots you wouldn’t ever even have the opportunity to get otherwise. Well worth it in my opinion.
Excellent down to earth review, all though i have a Canon 90D, 100-400 Lens, ive ordered one of these today. After watching you review i think ive made the right choice. I was not expecting it to compete or be better than a kit costing 3 times the price. But im sure it will fill the gap for me.
year ago I was going to buy p900 but i waited for latest model p1000 3 months ago, no regret it's good camera with quality photographs, I have dslr as well, but if anyone own p900 no need to buy p1000.
P1000 Nikon is wonderful camera for wild life and bird photography. I have first time seen such a powerful Zoom lens in a handy bug which delivers finest shots with out mounting on tripod. very good for photo enthuziasts and professionals. I dream to have it.
Great down-to-earth review! I ordered the P1000 just yesterday, along with four spare batteries and charger. I’m upgrading from a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ150 (24X). The Panasonic has been a frustrating camera to capture subjects quickly while focusing manually. While I prefer to focus manually, the Panasonic was poorly designed for that purpose-very very slow and awkward-back and forth until I get it right. While I’m looking forward to capturing some fantastic moon shots-in RAW-on a tripod, I wasn’t aware, until your review, that you can’t use the Moon or Bird modes in RAW. I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks again!!
Update: I returned the P1000 for the Sony CyberShot RX10 IV. While I miss the zoom of the Nikon, that’s about the only thing I miss. Focusing with the Sony is light years faster than the Nikon, and the images are sharper. Not knocking the Nikon, because it definitely has its place, but I am very happy with the Sony.
I have a Nikon D200 and a Tamron 300mm that I use for bird photography. I think of getting this because a lot of times birds are too far away even for my 300mm
I got a P900 a few years ago and love it. I could get the P1000 but i dont need that extra zoom. I filmed the star Sirius back in 2020 and i started going through that video frame by frame and 5 seconds into the video i saw my profile pic, i had to save that stillshot and of course the video
You must take all of your labels off of your wine bottles too. I have one of these cameras, and I noticed that in the birding mode, that the auto focus & spot metering are very tight. I find that to be a big advantage in shootings birds !!!
I'm tempted to get this for vacations. I have a Canon with a 50x optical zoom which is good but sometimes I want something...a little bit further. This is WAY further. I plan on going to Alaska next year and want to have the range from wide angle to way zoomed in and can't do that with DSLR...without some serious money and serious baggage. Plus the photos are for me, for my memory and my google photos. I'm guessing I will be plenty happy with the photos for those purposes.
Hands down the best review of the P1000! And theres some big names that did reviews! I feel a lot of people expected it to be excellent in all areas and it’s a good camera for the price for what it does… good
What kind of camera/lenses do you use currently for birding? Regarding bridge cameras I think that the Canon SX70 is a great choice as the camera and viewfinder specs are kind of the same as the Nikon bridge cameras. Also it's more handy and less expensive. Together with a pair of binoculars it's a good go to gear.
Hi Marcus, i got one of these and really put it through the test from macro to 3000mm bird photography. The best I could of the battery time was 2.5 hours, so I am amazed that you could get 4- hours. Perhaps you turned yours off/on throughout the morning, whereas I kept mine on continuously. So would be interested to know what you did to get the longevity for the battery. I am going to buy 2 extra batteries with a charger and carry them with me, because I have twice had it shutdown on me whilst out on a trip. I have not done any video yet as I want to see what it is capable of re photos before I consider video, which I will do once I master the camera, and this is what I ultimately purchased it for. Agree in relation to the timelag between shots, but I have gotten used to this and do not do burst as I tried it when I first got it and was not happy with it. Believe it will be better suited to macro nature stills such as fungi and flowers so will see when they are in season. Agree with you that this is better alternative to digiscoping as it less expensive and the P1000 has the range you are looking for. I am quite happy with the bird photos which I have taken and in some cases have found them sharper than my Canon 7D2 with 400mm, but this is my experience. The P1000 I use with an LED light and thus have no problems in low light as yet we are still in summer here) but will be interested to see how it performs in winter. Overall in relation to birds, found it best around 2000mm and then the sharpness and the stability starts to fall off as you have already stated. Nice to see a review like yours from someone that has really used it and honest opinions, which his great.
Thanks for the comment! I'm not sure how I get such long battery life, but I did end up getting a couple generic batteries off Amazon. I rarely need them, but it's good to have backup.
This is my first camera, it is great for documentation photos of birds which are far away and it could also take nice photos trom lower distances, so if you are looking for fun and useful addition to birdwatching I couldn't recommend it more
Thank you for your review ,I am just a hobby photography , I love this camera and asked for it for xmas . 2023 Thanks for sharing I now follow you on Instagram you have some wonderful pics
I have the same camera, but it gives me an error and stops. This is the error it gives me: The camera will turn off to prevent overheating. Can someone tell me how to fix this error? Thanks in advance. Jose Antonio
When I was young in the 1970's we noticed the huge amount of labelling on Japanese motor bikes, to the extent that I suggested there would be one called the Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki MBW2W 7504Ce Fi LS (motor bike with 2 wheels 750cc 4 cyclinder engine fuel injection & leather seat). I get where you are coming from with the logo excesses :-)).
old post, but anyway. cool video and explanation, I have a Leica televid 82 and 25x-50x asph. then I bought a Nikon p1000, easier to use and at the same time a camera, just not so good in twilight, I'm looking for a mirrorless camera, maybe Canon, there are most of them on the market and therefore also expectedly best prices
Thanks for the review! I’m looking for a point and shoot for my 12 year old granddaughter who is a budding avid nature photographer. Are there any point and shoot cameras that are good for birds in flight? And in general, what camera might you recommend for her? Thank you!
What you wouldn't love is the extra size & weight. Trust me you would NOT carry this thing around all day. The pocket zooms are much more practical for everyday shooting.
@@eddyg1794 Yes I would. The first thing I did with my Canon Powershot SX60HS was to design a chest - mounted camera caddy. I carry my Canon around _everywhere_ mounted on this gadget and don't know it's there. The camera caddy has a clip on the right shoulder for my little folding tripod stool and a clip on the left shoulder for my tripod. I've never understood why Canon or Nikon have never developed a gizmo like this commercially. It looks like a little armchair and the camera sits in it like a dream. The straps cross over on my back. It has a little cover so I can cover it for extreme sun or spray or blown sand on the beach. I'd make such a caddy for the P1000 too. No problemo.
Buy the P900 refurbished. I love my P900 for birds, stills and video. Great for insects too. Doesn’t shoot RAW but I love the camera for birding especially.
It is an excellent camera, you won't need SLR being an amateur photographer. Most of people go into complain MODE when they review it, partially owing to the fact they can't accept how good camera it is.
I think part of the problem is because they are not using it as it is meant to be used - for wildlife and bird photography. For ordinary pictures, there are certainly better cameras out there. Also, people tend to get fixated on image quality issue and complain about the small sensor size, which to me is only a small inconvenience.
I like the blackout look. If Nikon or any other camera manufacturer wants me to advertise for them they can cough up a few bucks for the privilege. Thanks for a frank useful review.
block out logos! never thought of that....what tripod do you recommend? and does the head have an extra frame or shelf to support the longer zoom when employed?
Thank you for the review. Could you please post a link to the "zoom field recorder?" What does it do, amplify the sound of the bird from far away? would it simultaneously amplify the sounds nearby?
It will simply add clear and professional sound to the video. whatever sound you hear.. "Zoom microphone" is a brand name, it doesn't mean you will zoom the sound from far away...
Great review, thanks. I have been looking at this camera because of the zoom. I have the Panasonic G9 with the 100 - 400 and feel limited. I was wondering how the P1000 would compare with the G9 and Sigma 150 600 with the 1.4x or 2x converter. This would get you somewhere near for the a similar price (if you already owned the G9)
I have an Olympus u4/3 with a 100-300 Pany lens, so 600 mm equivalent. No converter. After I got this everything else seems just way too short. You can keep zooming, and just keep zooming. I never run out of zoom. If you shoot in bright light, either overcast or sunlight, you will get awesome pictures if you have a steady hand and keep the ISO below 600. Also, this camera is just fun to use because you have such a big zoom range. Anything you can see, you can fill the frame. Everything. Now yes, if you go to a sporting event, or a park where the 600 mm equivalent is good enough, your Panasonic WILL be leagues better. Hands down. I still use my Oly with a 140-300 equivalent lens for motorsports and things like that. But if you need the reach this is the best thing out there. It's pricy and the IQ is average for a 1/2.3 sensor but the zoom saves it if you are a birder. Check out the DPReview forums; amazing pictures with this thing.
For what I want to do with this camera it seems like I made a decent although not quite cheap choice. I love shooting plains and the moon as well as the sun during sunrise and sunset. Im considering a DSLR or Mirrorless for a more professional photos to maybe sell later down the road. Currently looking at Sony A7/A7R iii, Nikon D7200, D7500, D5600, D850, or Z6, and also fujifilm camera. But for now and my IG/FB pages the Nikon Coolpix P1000 will do me just fine. I should be getting camera tomorrow. I cant wait.
10:00 how do you do something like that ? I was always wondering... are you just recording and then add some speed in a software or can you do it just using P1000 ?
I was looking for the nudist camp mode(..?) The birds images is almost a struck of luck, maybe one out of three. The containers were really neat. I wish you could've taken some 4K's of natural grounds around you and also play with some of the image filters to see the other extensions of this camera. Everybody is shooting the moon and the birds. I wish to see some city or parks scenes; video & stills. I really like your video presentation. Very calm and articulated language. Jeremy Irons would be proud to see his lost at birth kid.
Just got back from Costa Rica and I am very interested in birding now. I was just wondering if I should digiscope or start with a camera. Excellent video to help me know what camera I should start with! Thanks Marcus!!
I'd suggest using a camera, specifically the Nikon P900: It can capture quite reasonable pictures as well as function as a really good telescope. It doesn't cost too much too.
Wow that was very informative thank you. I live on a dam and am surrounded by birds and am looking at buying a camera to capture them (im a new comer to this). But id also like to take close ups of bees in flowers and take it to the family BBQ, i have no idea what im looking for or at, would this camera be suitable for what im looking for?? thank you
Thanks for a very honest review. Just a couple of questions id appreciate your opinion on please Marcus. I think you can grab shots from the 4k video. If so are these better quality than a normal shot? Also, could the p1000 be made with a bigger sensor? And finally, In bird mode and moon mode is it the software that prevents an image being taken in raw or is it something more fundamental? Thanks B
Raw, 4k and tad more powerful telephoto lens. For the price If I was going to buy a super telephoto camera it would be the p900. Heck the p900 is about half the weight / size also! You can get new p900's still for around 400.00 and it is a no brainer to me.
The feature that I wanted most was raw images. If that's not a big deal to you then the p900 is, like Wesley said, much smaller and less expensive with very similar performance otherwise.
Hi I just bought this today and have started exploring menu and focusing system. I own a sony a9 and with 200 600 and 1.4 convertor. Do you still have this system? Or sold it? The reach with this camera is amazing, and I primarily bought this for videos at 4k. Can you create a video on focusing modes with video. For example with birds in bushes it lags, and I feel to override at times to adjust. Your experience would help. Thanks
Qennan B if it had a bigger sensor the lens would have to be much larger. That's why Nikon went with the sensor size it did. As small sensor technology improves so will the bridge camera image quality.
Yes if you want 3000mm. I want a P600 zoom with better pictures. There is nothing in the 1000mm range with bigger sensor. I think a 1000mm Sony RX10M5 would be my dream. The P900 has made me dislike the Nikon P series as the P600 took better pics. As far as I can see, Nikon think the zoom is still the winner and forgot that the sensor can't handle f8. The other thing is focus speed is also important on bird pics. The number if missed shots with my P900 has also ruined it for me.
I had a tamron 150-600mm and at 600mm the pictures were not that good, I believe that they are even better than Nikon at 600mm when it's a sunny day, up to how many mm the pictures will be of good quality, maybe 1200mm or 1400mm🤔🇭🇷👌 I plan to buy it
Nice review, logically presented information and you hit all the relevant points. I am considering this model specifically for nature video, I also want to video the Moon over a period of time, I will use a tracking device. I was wondering about the build quality, despite the lack of weather sealing, would you say its well built? Is the tripod bush strong? It looks to me that Nikon could have positioned further forward because at 3k the lens will way out there, amplifying the slightest vibration. I wonder if you have come up with a fix for securing on tripod and eliminating shake. I suspect that grabbing stills from 4k footage might yield better results than any of the general photo modes?. No way was Nikon ever going to put a bigger sensor into this camera because it would banjax a huge selection of their camera models and piss the rest of the industry off big time. Thanks for the informative review, well done.
I feel you have given a very balanced review. I have selected this and Canon 5D Mark three. Still not decided between the two. Do you feel it has good picture quality? You have said, that you recommend given certain parameters, but are you satisfied with that?
Vimal Krishna the only reason to buy this over the 5d is if you really need the zoom. The image quality of the 5d will be MUCH better than the p1000. The p1000 is not a good camera for your primary camera, it’s made for special circumstances.
@@MarcusVorwaller Many thanks for your clear help in the decision making, I needed that. I wanted a view from someone like you. I will need Canon as my primary camera. Thanks again!!! By the way, I was working in Canon albeit in high-speed printer section :-)
Love your instagram page. Would be nice to know which bird shots you used this camera for. Thanks for the great video. Very helpful.

I have updated from P 900 to P 1000 . So far I have only filmed with it( same with P 900 mostly) I like the manual focus ring and the ability to use high shutter speeds when filming as birds move quickly. I need some enlightenment on why to use 4K if I anyway load it to a 2K timeline. Is the quality noticeably better? As for stills of birds in flight I think the autofocus is to slow - is that right? Perhaps its better to film them, try to follow them and hopefully get some sharp frames
I'm a long time P900 user and one of my frustrations is the speed of the autofocus. Can the manual focus ring overcome this problem or is it still slow?
@ Thanks for the reply. I had a Canon with a Sigma lens and this is the only thing I miss about it. I comfort myself with the knowledge that I would have to sell one of my kidneys to be able to afford a lens with the same reach as the P900.I guess I'll have to put up with wonderfully in focus photos of tree trunks, branches, leaves and other empty spaces where the bird used to be. Still I have more fun with the P900 than any other camera I have owned. It's a fun piece of kit.

A Tamron or Sigma zoom 400-600 is quite adequate . I have seen wonderful pictures taken with these zooms And the quality is good enough for cropping in post. Only problem is weight. So you need a Gimbal head
Hi Marcus. I'm considering buying one of these primarily for wildlife video and I've seen some impressive results on UA-cam. How do you find the autofocus when shooting video? Is it fairly stable or do you often need to make manual adjustments using the focus ring? Thanks.
I have a p900 its good enough for me..... Unless p1000 comes up with an upgrade on 20-30 Megapixel, more faster autofocus, full function on focus ring and night vision......yesssss
Hi Marcus, I looked at the specifications of P1000, and I found something I didn't understand. Is the ISO limited to 1600 while filming, or you can use it at the full 6400. Thanks.
Great review, thank you! You mentioned shooting RAW, but as far as I know, the Nikon P100 only saves as NRW, which doesn’t work in Lightroom. How have you overcome this issue??
I was just wondering. Is it very cold where you are. Is it winter time. I noticed you were wearing a sock hat on your head. Just curious about the weather.
Doc Pearson lol. It’s Seattle so we just wear these beanies sometimes regardless of the weather. It’s a fashion statement you could say. When I made the video it was about 69 degrees Fahrenheit inside my house.
Glad to see a report here from a real photographer, and a fellow birder at that, not just a "techie". Keep posting.

What is it like for just taking photos of people up close?
Thanks for the comment! Do you have an instagram or other account where you share your photos?
What a great review. Think you’re the person on here to review this product without being a doofus. Thank you, man,
One of the BEST nikon p1000 videos!
I think is that the Nikon p1000 is alot better then the p900.
@@lillen141 I agree I had the P900 first but the 1000 holy smokes its the Mother Load.
Great review. I purchased this camera a week ago and am still fiddling/experimenting with it, and your video is very helpful.

Really neat review, the best I have seen so far!
Subbed. Also I liked the 300mm Olympus f/4 review.
Thank you Marcus. For someone who does not know a lot about photography and looking to buy the P1000 this review was great. Speaking in plain English
I feel a lot of people expected it to be excellent in all areas and it’s a good camera for the price for what it does… good
The bird setting also seems to be silent. I assume so you will not scare the bird.
I’ve been using sony full frame cameras lately
Did you noticed the UFO at the background between 7:04 - 7:11 coming in from right to left? :-)
floating ufo on water
This camera is fantastic for the price. Thanks for the review.
This is my first camera, it is great for documentation photos of birds which are far away and it could also take nice photos trom lower distances, so if you are looking for fun and useful addition to birdwatching I couldn't recommend it more
Just found your channel, great review from a fellow bird watcher. I knew it would be a good review when I saw the Peak Design strap attachments!
Thank you for your review ,I am just a hobby photography , I love this camera and asked for it for xmas . 2023 Thanks for sharing I now follow you on Instagram you have some wonderful pics
love my p1000, very good 4k video. With photos proper helps a lot .
I have the same camera, but it gives me an error and stops.
This is the error it gives me:
The camera will turn off to prevent overheating.
Can someone tell me how to fix this error?
Thanks in advance.

Na tíve este problema, estranho.
Will nikon ever release an improved version of this camera ? i really like it but i see the Down sides of of it too
When I was young in the 1970's we noticed the huge amount of labelling on Japanese motor bikes, to the extent that I suggested there would be one called the Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki MBW2W 7504Ce Fi LS (motor bike with 2 wheels 750cc 4 cyclinder engine fuel injection & leather seat).
Thank you!
I've been using a Canon Powershot SX60HS since May 2017 and I love it - but if I had the bucks I'd love to upgrade to a P1000.
Excellent explanation about Nikon P1000..
If it's possible please create a compression video about Nikon P950 and P1000.
Regards.
I like the blackout look. If Nikon or any other camera manufacturer wants me to advertise for them they can cough up a few bucks for the privilege. Thanks for a frank useful review.
Is it good for aerial photography? Like Airplanes and airport traffic from a distance.
It’d be fine for that
Nice video! Does the auto focus work on video as well while recording?
block out logos! never thought of that....what tripod do you recommend? and does the head have an extra frame or shelf to support the longer zoom when employed?
Iam the user of Nikon p600 since 5yrs it's working fentastic i want to upgrade to next level ...Can i upgrade to this or go to dslr camera
Great vid Marcus! Thanks 👍
Thanks for the review.
Thanks for an interesting video, but why must people read zoom range as 'X' instead of 'times'?
lol.
I cant wait.
p1000 is a mobile phone with super zoom lens. Photos are useless.
@@Krupnoklipac for amature photography the p1000 works fine. I will be upgrading to a Sony A7R iii next year though.
One of the most balance view on the p1000.
10:00 how do you do something like that ? I was always wondering... are you just recording and then add some speed in a software or can you do it just using P1000 ?
Maciej Pańczyk it’s built into the P1000 under the scene modes. There are a few timelapse options
I recommend the phone app merlin, its great for birding, i also use its partner app for inputing my bird finds, its called ebird
Wow that was very informative thank you. I live on a dam and am surrounded by birds and am looking at buying a camera to capture them (im a new comer to this). But id also like to take close ups of bees in flowers and take it to the family BBQ, i have no idea what im looking for or at, would this camera be suitable for what im looking for?? thank you
should be fine!
Well looks like you have convinced me!! Thank you for the reply I appreciate it xx
Thanks B
I find it to be great for bird pics. I don't use RAW though. Good luck.
So what's the p1000 got that the p900 hasn't?
Raw, 4k and tad more powerful telephoto lens. For the price If I was going to buy a super telephoto camera it would be the p900. Heck the p900 is about half the weight / size also! You can get new p900's still for around 400.00 and it is a no brainer to me.
The feature that I wanted most was raw images. If that's not a big deal to you then the p900 is, like Wesley said, much smaller and less expensive with very similar performance otherwise.
You can connect external monitor on p1000 . That is very useful ability.
Thanks
Hope the next one will have a bigger sensor. Great review.
A realy good review!
Thanks!
I had a tamron 150-600mm and at 600mm the pictures were not that good, I believe that they are even better than Nikon at 600mm when it's a sunny day, up to how many mm the pictures will be of good quality, maybe 1200mm or 1400mm🤔🇭🇷👌 I plan to buy it
Nice video on the Nikon P1000. I'm interested in it. Do you not like logos on your cameras?
Hi, Marcus do you make video clips ( music)
Great review!
how is the ISO performance
sir.do you advice to buy one..is it clear .....and lwant to look the stars in the sky
do you still do reviews?
your mail?
Still slow. You need a DSLR
Thanks for the Review.
From your new subscriber ❤️
Which Zoom recorder do you use and do you have a link please?
Very helpful, thanks
Hi Marcus. I'm considering buying one of these primarily for wildlife video and I've seen some impressive results on UA-cam. How do you find the autofocus when shooting video? Is it fairly stable or do you often need to make manual adjustments using the focus ring? Thanks.
Thank for the review, greetings from 🇷🇺
Very nice camera bro..I'm using P900
Very good review. Thank you.
Honest review 👍👍👍
Good Morning! Congratulations!!! In time: All my videos, see channel, are made with a P1000!
I have a Nikon D5600, but kept my Nikon Coolpix P600 for birding and lunar photography - the zoom surpasses the dslr lenses
I use this camera myself, wouldn't change it for anything else.
I have a p900 its good enough for me..... Unless p1000 comes up with an upgrade on 20-30 Megapixel, more faster autofocus, full function on focus ring and night vision......yesssss

Great interesting review. From an ordinary guy.
What is your best settings if you use it in Bird watching and photo takings?
Hi Marcus, I looked at the specifications of P1000, and I found something I didn't understand. Is the ISO limited to 1600 while filming, or you can use it at the full 6400. Thanks.
Judging from the images across the net, you don't want to go above ISO400 - noise and mush galore.
@@reverendv8900 Yes. With small sensors you really can't push the ISO very far.
Great review, thank you!
You mentioned shooting RAW, but as far as I know, the Nikon P100 only saves as NRW, which doesn’t work in Lightroom. How have you overcome this issue??
Beautiful Camera So Sweet
Aperture??
I was just wondering. Is it very cold where you are. Is it winter time. I noticed you were wearing a sock hat on your head. Just curious about the weather.
Doc Pearson lol. It’s Seattle so we just wear these beanies sometimes regardless of the weather. It’s a fashion statement you could say. When I made the video it was about 69 degrees Fahrenheit inside my house.
Well it does look cool 😁
I like taking pictures of birds. And I thoroughly enjoyed your review
