Gary, it won't be long before it will be your girls. You will be walking down the aisle. It goes so fast. Mel, you out done yourself on everything for the day.I see your Dad's picture and his spirit with you all. He watches his girls. I didn't know your mom is clergy. It was so awesome that she performed the ceremony. Be safe, my friends with lots of love from your crazy friend in ohio

I am going to be honest...I was going to skip the wedding and go right to the cabin part...but I clicked something wrong and it went back to Gary walking her down the aisle and my teardrops started (because that's how I roll) anyway...It was a beautiful ceremony I love when they are unconventional, all done in someone's yard, put together with bits and pieces of things....Not a huge expensive send off that people are paying for for years to come. 🥂

Mel you did an awesome job on the shower and the wedding. I am sure the whole family help in the preparations. My favorite was Gary walking your niece down the aisle and the prayer your mom did! Just lovely. Have to admit I had some tears in my eyes.

Mel, you did a fantastic job on the cake, as Roxanne did an amazing job on the food.. When Gary was walking Brittany down the aisle, it was so sweet. I always cry at weddings.♥️Congratulations to Brittany & Colin on their marriage!!

Hi Mel and Gary, for practical reasons have you thought of having a French door on the front, mounted near middle to enable access with long materials and larger furniture items? Gary, think about how awkward those string knots are. Try this out: you are trying to put string between 2 points. You already have a loop on one end of the string, slip knot style, now pull the string to the next post, loop it around your hand to make loose loop. You then twist your hand around twisting the string line from the first post with the free end. After about 8 turns grab the post you want that loop to sit on, then slide that loop onto the post. Grab the string between the posts to tighten it then pull the free end tighter, you will see the twists gripping and it slides but with resistance, when the string is tight just pull the free end back to the post your are attach in the string to, you will see the string reverse twist and it locks the string. Long description but test the idea a few times and you will use that knot often. Once I learnt it I hadn’t stopped using it, it is so easy to do and very easy to undo when you finish. Looking forward to your next, thanks and stay safe.

hey Gus, look out for Mel’s back, none of that long handle like ash shovel, it multiplies the load on the back and all muscles. Use aD handled garden shovel, shorter handle, limited load multiplier, easier to handle. Take care.

Its been a long winter but a mild on here in MN, It's good to see your home coming together. So excited to see your beautiful home when it is all done. If not for my age of 70 I would be doing the very same thing watching my children grow all over again in the beautiful outdoors free and easy lifestyle that cannot be beat. I just love watching you all grow in all the right directions life has to offer, God bless you all with a long plentiful life.

I was also thinking about running stairs both ways with a landing on the top - no necessarily centring the door but for sure step access from both sides of the door. That was you can run up the steps regardless of what direction you are coming at the house!

My granddaughter was married in her paternal grandparents back yard. They live in town but had a large backyard. It was a beautiful wedding and everyone pitched in and helped. Her biological father was killed in a car accident when she was 13 but this was a way to represent him being present. Her stepfather walked her down the aisle

Beautiful wedding. The best to the bride and groom.
Gary, put a couple more feet of fill in the front of the house so the front porch isn’t so high off the ground. Plus, you’ll have more negative pitch to shed water away from the house.

Gary I’ll make a suggestion on POPS, on those teeth on the barrel and gear ⚙️On the motor, if the Kit didn’t provide some wheel bearing grease I’d definitely run a layer of bearing grease around those teeth and gear ⚙️to prevent wear and tear.
    That’s A Good looking Cement mixer 😁👍🏼

Don't forget that you will be bringing long and heavy sheetrock, furniture, and building materials. A straight shot is much easier than one upstairs and around corners.

The eye-catcher mudroom for the front of the house are the ones with panel windows (that begin at the waist to the top of the head). The windows allow for daylight to make the room feel part of the country. Fotos are available online of mud rooms from different States.
Because i reside in central CA. (we enjoy the same mild climate of Tuscany, Italy near Modesto, CA.), our homes with a mud room install 2 sliding windows (separated by narrow wall) that rest behind the left wall and right wall that double as a screened porch for summer visitors.
One solution for your concern for a wide door is to have double doors hinged on the left and right sides.

I am watching late in the game and surely you have considered how your appliances will be moved into the house, but it seems that the mud room entrance would be easiest, just don’t limit that access, such that you have to go up the full stairs from the basement area!
You guys keep doing great! Dreaming it and making it happen!

Have you given thought to having it further out from main house , just to get it away from water line , so if you need to do repair on said water line you won't have concrete in your way , add 3 more feet coming out from house . Problem solved and put door on either end to save room in driveway..... js , thinking out loud lol

Don't forget to flare out the base of the hole. I don't know if you have a problem with perma-frost there but the flares help prevent that. Sonotube is the easiest way to form the posts. If they are held up from the bottom the cement will naturally flare out. If you just use posts and beams you will have some storage space underneath. It would be a good place to park the lawn mower.

Something you may not have thought about...Those zip panels are 8 feet long. There are 4 so that is 32 feet. that little chunk at the end looks about 2 feet ish. So that is 34 feet. Half that is 17 feet. If that is the main entrance from now on, keep in mind all the things that will come and go thru that entry. That being said, leave room for appliances, boards, etc. If that is the place where you will dump keys, coats and kids you will need room for a wall tree. A room at least 8x12 would be about what I would consider. My opinion of course but that is what I put on several of my places. It is even room enough for a washer/dryer in the corner. Use the stake and string method to square up your foundation. The simple Pathagoreum method is the quick way to determine squareness. I use 3x4x5 because they are easy numbers.

I would have split the 8ft or 9ft thus giving you a 16 ft sunroom keeping it a multiple of 4ft or 8ft. I’ve never seen so much measuring done to get a centre of a string line you could have done a 3 by 4 by 5ft square from the centre spot of the front wall of the house. To get the centre of the string.
