Y'all are killin' it! My back hurts just from watching.
Getting things like stove, fridge, washer, dryer won’t be a problem!!! It’s going to be the longer things like beds, and couches but if you build the gate thing make it wide enough for the bigger items like a couch, desk so they can fit. Those are the headaches
I love your content. I love your perseverance in the face of adversity. Gary you need to be wearing a mask and not breathing that concrete dust.
Have the stairway wide enough to lay down like three 2 * 12 and make a ramp going from the tailgate to the stairway cuz you're going to need an appliance dolly as well😂
Why not straight out the door in the middle of the mud room and a nice French door and wide steps? Right in the middle! Not on the right and not on the left. Straight through with a wide stair case. Probably too late now anyway!
It was fun to watch you guys unload the zip boards in fast motion it looked like you were dealing cards! Not Todd was a big help. Teamwork makes the dreamwork!
So happy for you all! Hard to believe its been over three years since you moved! Look at you LIVING the DREAM!!!❤😊❤
I was literally just thinking to myself wondering how long they have been out there. Been watching since the move out.
All I can say is that you two are like the energy bunny you never stop 😊 Love it ❤️🇨🇦
Things happen but you kept your eyes on the goal. Well done. Please wear a mask to protect your lungs from that dust. Your future you will thank you. 😊❤
Such hard workers 👷👷 🏠 You two truly know what it means to work. Gary, you building this house, is better than a contractor would do. You and Mel have done an outstanding job. I've been with you since the beginning of this journey you are on.
That camper rebuild was amazing. As you say, it doesn't pay to go cheaper or faster. Your garden is amazing. What fun it must be. But a lot of work as well. 😕☺️.
With you two bending and stooping and digging, what a major strain on your backs and hips. I used to work at jobs that were sometimes brutal.🥴🥴. I know what it's like the hard work you two are doing.
At the end of the day I took a nice long warm shower and take an "Aleve" then rest the rest of the night then a good night sleep. Warm Chamomile tea 🙂↕️🥱.
Take care and be well.
Grammy from Arizona 🧓🌵🏜️❤️
I love that you didn't cut out moving the entire pallet of ply! :D
LOL heck no! That was a LOT of HARD WORK! And something MOST people disregard. Like the supplies just magically appear on the property or something hahaha 🤣🤗🤗🤗
Suggestion:
1. you could have 2 doors/entry into the mud room.
2. Sliders all across the front of mud room instead of windows would let a lot more light into mudroom and house!
Looking good!
I’m betting none of it goes to waste ! Future barns and animals dwelling plus other projects.. the shop etc..it looks like you’re going to be keeping busy for a while ..
The mud room entrance Gary came up with Will work perfectly.. I love the idea of the gate/railing..
Yes, you still need to build a garage, so you could use that zipboard on that!!!😊🎉❤
There are lots of hard working couples on UA-cam y’all are in the tops of that category. ❤ all you share.
Wow, thank you! 💚💚💚
I second that!!!
@@jerriewyatt905stop
Third! They are the workingest kids on UA-cam.
I agree❤
That's a lot of zip board. I feel a shop coming in the near future... doing the gate is such a good idea. Not only for moving big stuff but you could also pull up and unload groceries and stuff really easy.
I love watching yall progress. Things area moving fast really, if you think about it. Rome wasn't built in a day and with yalls pace, it gives you the opportunity to kinda live it before it's all done real fast and you leave out something that would be beneficial for the future.
Just an idea for the removable rail section; 4 joist hangers (different than normal hangers because the nailing flanges are inside the hanger not to either side) basically a U shape cap to hang the rail section in. All my garden walls are removable like this.
now you have some zip board you can put down a temp floor on your back deck to make it more safe to put up your roof rafters. keep up the good work. we are rooting for you
Yes that's the first thing I thought, make the section of rail hinged, easy to get in and out.😊
I can't get over how you two work so hard. I'm exhausted watching both of you. The blue sky and the puffy clouds near the end of the video were so beautiful.
I know yall will be glad when this is all done and over with. And yall can sit down for a second
You guys are the hardest working couple on UA-cam! Just love your videos 💖👍
One part of my railing is removable to make it easier to get fridgers, stoves etc. It works great, just like you was thinking of. Great thinking! ;-)
That’s a lot of hard work but what a great team the two of you are. Your doing a great job. Get some rest and start in again tomorrow. Thank you for taking us along. Take care from Cape Cod✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You guys knocked your list out of the park today. You've got a lot accomplished and wow..... Hugs
Mal and Gary I have been with you since Arizona the beginning of all that you been through and know it’s Arkansas it was a pleasure to meet you both You have came a long a way and I know you both have this I seen the first part of the build and I continue to watch just want you both to know that you got this and you are amazing if it wasn’t for the other UA-camr I would not be watching you but I love 💗 want you are doing I love 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞 all my UA-cam family you all bring joy to my life and that’s from my heart 🫶💞 god bless you and love 💕 from Ohio Irene
The Gate On The Landing Was a Great Idea.
Great job Mel and Gary.
Thank goodness for the supplies coming.
You did an amazing job with your start of the mudroom!! Lots of hard work for you two. 😊❤
Hi Mel and Gary you've have worked so hard on your house. And still at it. It will be beautiful. And so worth it. You guys amaze me. Love the hummingbirds they are so pretty. Great idea about the stairs. And the gate. Have a great weekend and God Bless ❤
It's all gonna be worth it. Some day you'll kick back and say "Yeah, we did that". I've really enjoyed the journey Thanks for sharing the build and your lives with us. BTW Gary the gate idea was brilliant! 💡
The gate idea is genius Gary😊❤ make sure you have a wide door for those appliances 😊
First I want to say, you guys are doing an awesome job of building your home! And secondly, yall remind me of my husband and myself. We love to “build” and do projects together, and we did about 75% of the work ourselves, when we built our home in 2002. As well as decks, porches, and sheds, etc. on our 5 acre homestead.
I’m watching today’s episode 4/23/2024, and listened to yall saying all the comments that yall had gotten on the mudroom build and its “flow.”
I liked the drawing Gary made, and think that it will look real nice on the front of your home.
However, I have a thought you may want to consider…how about having a set of steps coming down on both ends of the mudroom/porch?? There would be no sharp turns for loading of furniture and/or appliances and any other deliveries. Also, it would make easy access to the carport/shop from the left, and unloading groceries, and guests coming in, etc. from the right side where Tiny is parked??
Anyway, just a thought…which I think would make a really nice addition to the front porch/mudroom and whole appearance of the front of your home!
You guys keep up the hard work; and loving and raising your family to enjoy what means the most in life…family and enjoying the simple things of life!!! Which are always the best and most important things in life!
I’ve refinished 3 houses. I’d sacrifice road space out front to have the steps come straight out. I’ve gone through too many struggles hauling things in/out with tight turns. My second choice would be the way you landed with a gate! All I know is Gary HAS to be sick of figuring out crazy angles from the back deck, so for Gary’s sanity I hope you stick to right angles on this one.😂
Make the front railing removable for furniture.
Holes movie 🎥 favorite quote
“That’s to damn bad keep digging” 🤠
My Dad and I mixed so much concrete over the years with the sand, gravel, and water mixture. He used to mix and hand pour concrete for gas stations, parking lots etc. after he got home from WWII. He swore by the 1:2:3 mixture, 1 part concrete mix, 2 parts sand 3 parts gravel then mix and slowly add water until it was the right consistency.
We never had a Pop’s but instead he made an aluminum and wood vat, I used a hoe and mixed while he added ingredients 😅, backbreaking work for sure!!
It’s looking so good!! Y’all two make an awesome team 👍🏻!!
What an ingenious idea Gary, using a gate on the landing ‼️
Slow and steady progress.
You have told us many times about "zigging, zagging" it was great showing us what you mean! GREAT VIDEO!
Mel and Gary I'm glad you got your supplies.looks like some projects will be getting done so happy you can get em done.
THANK GOD FOR OVER THINKING, I LOVE YOUR FINAL PLAN 🙏❣🙏❣🙏
Well done Mel and Gary that was a lot 😮 but YOU DID IT 🎉👊👍❤️
Have you all thought about building a ramp along with your stairs. We never think of ramps until we need them and not only cause we're old but just if there's an accident and you're on a wheelchair. I know cause it happened to my daughter when she was in high school, my husband messed his knee at work and I feel on our stairs and broke my ankle where I needed 9 screws and a metal plate. So we built our stairs with a ramp next to them. Just a thought of experience. 😘
You could sift all the dirt you dig out, then put all the dirt in garden, and rocks on driveway. It's a good way to clean up and not waste free rock. I know it's really rocky ground in Arkansas
Good progress!!! 🥰🎶🌻❤️🎶🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🏡
Buy a repair piece to replace the end of the hose. It will be much cheaper than a new hose.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hi Gary & Mel congrats on ur zip boards & lumber for ur back deck & rafters for ur roof also please cover all ur zip boards with a tarp May The Good Lord Bless ur family & construction of ur family home 🏡 ❤ from ur subscriber Peter from South Carolina 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✌️
You will sleep good tonight. great job you two well done.
God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
When my daughter had her front porch built, the carpenter mad a section of the railing removeable to get big objects in or out.
Will you arrange eavestroughs for the collection of rainwater off of the roof to use in your garden? Might save the use of well water.
I would base the location of the stairs on the ease of moving in furniture and appliances through the front door. Love your videos!
Good afternoon coffee… be safe and have a great day..
Beautiful day for working outside. Just love spring
Mel, now that you are dried in upstairs, I'd love to see you drill some hole in the floor to allow venting from your living area, better air in your home
You could place the stairs centered on the wall to come straight out the door and down the stairs.
Good afternoon 🌞 nice got your board order & figured out your entrance 😉. Good job on digging the holes 🕳️ the cement mixer will come in handy 👌
OMG, Gary, the wheel barrow has your name on it: ACE. Like Mel said, "Gary is such a hard worker . . . it's in his genes."
A fAN.
Wow you will have enough to do a garage with all that zip board. lol. I feel your pain thank goodness your still young. Thanks for sharing
Looking good Guys . Cant wait to see what is yet to come.
Can't wait to see this build. Love the drawing! ❤
Ugh concrete work...I can't decide what's worse, that or drywall. It's a toss-up. haha.
Could you put a door on each side of the mud room?that way you enter or go out from either side according where you want to go-Gary’s truck or your small car!!
GREAT JOB GUYS GREAT PROGRESS GOD BLESS LOVE YOU ANNAMAY
Bless you sweet Annamay 💚🤗
Put a scrap piece of osb or plywood in the back of biggie before you shovel in the rock and sand.. easier to shovel out because your flat shovel has a smooth surface instead of the ridged bed of the truck.
Hi, that was a whole lot of heavy Work. You need to call it an early night.. Blessings
Genius idea for the gate on the front deck! 🎉💡
how about a french door or such on the end facing the driveway? easy unloading and everyone will see the front door as they pull in
Anything worth having is worth the work. Also I would bet you all get some great sleep.
Awesome work guys! Looking forward to the continuation. You guys are doing such a great job on your build.
I Love the gate Idea Gary 😮Brilliant (ocd) in my opinion is a gift if used wisely (which I try to do) Mel breeds positivity 🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Can I adopt you as my "Internet Auntie" cause I just love you too bits Laura!!! Thank you for all of your kindness
@@SimpleLifeReclaimed 🫢 Awe of course sweetie! Call me Auntie Laura😃
It's just a speed bimp--not a brick wall! You can do it!
You two definitely know how to put in a good days' hard labor!! I kept thinking to myself, "if you only had a mini Uber"! I think you're doing a great job of keeping projects moving based on the materials you have. You gotta do watcha gotta do with watcha got! Great idea with making the gate to back the truck up to.
For their size of property they need a big Uber sized tractor. Looking to future use etc. small property = small tractor. Don’t get me wrong a small tractor can be a real back saving trooper. Bigger means stronger machinery and attachments.
@@paulvanhouts3365 I don't disagree with that. But bigger also means more expensive. I was trying to save them some money...lol.
JudithB Good job so far!! I was wondering if Tinys battery would work in the side by side????? I finally got all the peppers planted, 2 cherry toms and a pot of oregano in the garden. I also planted 4 hanging pots for the front porch with asperagus fern and dark red petunias. Also caught the teen chicks in the barn and put them outside in the chicken yard. They had never been in the sun before, but they came in with the other chickens last night, and outside this am!! Now to wait for that first egg!!! LOL!!
dont worry guys we try to keep up with the projects your doing
Beware of water coming off of roof onto stairs
They'll be covered 💚🤗 But thanks for looking out for us 🙏🏼
looking great
You should be proud of yourself. Your doing great job.

Awesome work. Team work makes the dream work you guys. I know you got this.
Great Work Mel and Gary And Good Hard Worker's 😊😊
Ahhh Progress 😁👍🏼
Brilliant solution Gary!🎉
MEL, I saw a product review on Robertson Belly Acres today for a gadget that you and Roxanne need for your gardens. Its by Task Star, cordless electric rototiller. 2 batteries, almost looks like a weed wacker. Has two blades on it.❤
Thats some good livin right there!!!
Great progress you guys. Mel, love the tunes girl. Stay safe as always
GARY / MELLE build your front porch first then look where your front stairs be located either side of porch or the front of it sketch out porch on front of house then consider location of stairs
Followed you from the beginning.you all are 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 awesome. 😊😊❤❤❤
Hay I'm tired just watching. Y'all are doing a great job. Love y'all
