Literally nothing with it, except that people are trying to find a problem with it. When thousands of others say its great, it's speaking the truth of what we have gone through as a society and a country in recent years. It shouldn't be cancelled, in fact, it should be blasted everywhere when everybody can hear it.
What the country has gone through in recent years? What about what African Americans have gone through in the last 200 years? America is so quick to think that the end of slavery was the end of back oppression, but it was just the start. White America is quick to point fingers at African Americans' looting and burning when it was white America that did exactly the same thing to African Americans over 100 years. Tulsa, Ocoee, and Rosewood are forgotten by white America where hundreds of African Americans were murdered and their homes and businesses torched.
History shows that the underlying theme of African American riots was over police brutality or enforced poverty. The underlying theme of white riots was to punish African Americans for their success, to stop them from voting, or force them out of their land and take their farms. White America will never speak the truth about the George Floyd protests. They look at the results of centuries of pent-up anger for not being treated equally, which periodically explodes and all white America sees is the explosion.
The song is racist because Aldean concentrates on the George Floyd protests and nothing of the Capitol riot which was based on a lie.

I'm not a country fan really or from a small town, tho I've happily settled in one, and I think and feel like I get what this song is about... to quote another country song I remember from awhile back, " you gotta stand for something or you'll fall for anything"... us regular working taxpaying, stop for the person in the crosswalk or in the middle of the block really lol, help the elderly get something off the top shelf at the grocery store, neighborly, proud to be American people are tired, tired of seeing the grifters in whatever form, get rewarded for bad behavior while we get increasingly penalized. And even tho we're tired we get up every day and do it all over again because that's who we are and what we do and what makes us America! I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

I have to agree. I live in a small town and if you should decide to come and cause chaos, you will get dealt with. However, if you come and behave yourself, you'll be welcome with open arms.

The 'insurrection' was not about destroying innocent people's property and looting....and Republicans immediately condemned the actions of the people entering the capital building, while democrats support the 'protestors' who dragged innocent people from their cars and beat them up, looted innocent people's businesses, burned innocent people's houses, and attacked government property like the Federal Court House.

FYI FOX, there are two different songs--both controversial. "Try this in a Small Town" and "Small Town Small" both by Jason Aldean (I think) "Try this in a Small Town" focuses on small towns protecting their constitutional rights while "Small Town" flips off big business.
"Try This in a Small Time" is cashing in on this far-right extremist movement and their desire for violence.
