Great tips, I also have only used apple TV for zwift over the past couple of years, and it is THE most hassle free way to zwift, zero issues. One thing I found helpful, was programming a regular remote to the apple TV through the settings. When I get all sweaty the Apple remote does not cooperate with me. Any old infra red remote can be programmed, and the hard, real buttons work better for me. also, BTW, pressing the play button for power ups is HUGE, thanks for that, I had no idea.
Great tips on this and some Apple TV stuff I never knew about. It would be good to show a demo of how to use the remote by ‘flicking’ the remote with your finger rather than ‘dragging’ your finger to scroll, the latter doesn’t work at all and it took me weeks to figure out
Thanks so much for this. It's annoying AF that these things are basically easter eggs that we have to go and find. I'm new to smart trainers, and finding the entire experience to be a complete PITA.
hi ... can you do video on the new 2021 remote, highlight the new features, and functional adjustments folks with the old remote need to make. thank you
Very helpful video, thank you. I'm using an Apple TV and I'm running the companion app on my iPhone. What I can't figure out is how to change directions. I see the turn markers on the screen but how do I select them? I googled this and all the experts say is to hit the arrow key on the keyboard. Huh? I don't have a keyboard, just the Apple TV remote and the app on my iPhone. Must be something simple but can't figure it out. Would sure appreciate your help. Thanks again! Jim
When you see the direction icon pop up on the screen, press the Apple remote to select it and that pop up should expand. Then Select the route you would like to take.
I still don't get how to give Ride Ons to individual riders from the right "nearby riders" list, using the Apple Remote. I use the companion app for that, OK, but can this be done using the remote, too?
Tariq, Thanks for the tricks. Do you have another up your sleeve? How on earth do you get an Apple Watch connected to Zwift with the Apple TV? The ATV can't find it and the Companion app refers me back to the in game Device Connection, which of course can't find it. When I open the Companion app my Apple Watch Zwift app opens up with heart rate but says not connected.
@@davidkelly4400 did you do anything specific? any steps or tricks to share? did you have to use the zwift companion app on your apple watch? i noticed last night there is a zwift apple watch app and a zwift companion apple watch app. can you specify the order in which you open everything? you have the exact set up i am trying to get to work. thank you!

I had my remote upside down a couple of weeks ago... So when I was going to activate the aero power up to hopefully win the sprint i clicked the home button instead which took me out of Zwift... :-(
I have started to use Apple TV for Zwift, especially the shortcut for the powerup is one that i look forward to try. Do you know how to change the map view of the map in the upper right corner ?
Generally if you stop pedaling, the workout should stop. If you are doing a structured workout, you can pause by either using the companion app or swiping up on the remote and you should see a pause button.
Do you have any idea how to apply the brakes on Zwift via Apple TV? The PC users hit keyboard A (takes them device pairing mode which applies the brakes) then keyboard Escape which takes them to the ride.
My Apple TV is hard wired as WiFi is weak in that part of the house where my swift set up is located . Is there any way can give ride ons ? or access the companion app ?
If your ATV is hardwired and your phone is connected to the same network subnet wifi, the you should be able to run the companion app. Your Apple TV doesn’t have to be connected wirelessly.
I do long Zwift rides and notice that my BT Apple remote loses connection after an hour and when I reconnect it, the trainer and all the other Bluetooth connections fail. I have difficulty connecting everything back and have to end my ride at that point. Would love a solution for this!
I’ve never had that issue before with long rides. Usually the remote will go to sleep after a period of time but shouldn’t affect other BT devices. Do you have the latest Apple TV 4K version?
I do have the Apple TV 4K. It notifies me when the remote has gone to sleep (lost connection) and as soon as I wake it, I lose watts, cadence and HR. I then try to go in and re-pair everything but it won’t reconnect, even when I quit and restart Zwift completely.
Quick question I have zwift on my phone and cadene, power, HR all paired but when I turned on Apple TV for Zwift couldn't get anything to pair on the TV screen??? please help me out. Thanks
I have 2 really annoying features of Apple TV and Zwift. 1, the inability to respond to a ride on via the remote. I have to go into the companion app to do that. 2. I don't see the whole screen as the aspect is wrong. Is there anything I can do or am I doing something wrong?
I just love "It just works well. Maybe not so much in Zwift". Yeah, no kiddin. It's almost impossible. At least I wo't need a post lockdown haircut as it made me pull all my hair out!!
Haha... There is your silver lining! Zwift should be revamping their interface at some point this year so hopefully you won’t be pulling your hair out anymore. Also, we should be seeing a new remote and Apple TV as well.
Thanks for the video. Question about switching between apps. When your bike is connected and riding in Zwift thru Apple TV, and you want to switch and ride in FulGaz, are there certain steps to force close the BT connection with Zwift to establish a fresh connection with FG? My name is Dan and I am the product manager for the Johnny G Spirit Bike www.johnnygspiritbike.com and this is a challenge with our distributor in Australia. I am in California and am waiting for the new Apple TV to arrive, so I have not tried yet. They are having the difficulty in connecting with the Controllable feature. They said that have to force restart Apple TV each time and it is annoying. Any suggestions? Thanks!
What’s your go to Apple TV shortcut?
Thanks Tariq! Your tips will make my Apple TV zwifting experience so much better!
Tip 10 is great, will start to use that one for sure. Thanks! 🙂
I probably use that one the most. Especially during races when you need to get that extra little help.
Started zwifting 2 weeks ago and just came across your channel. Really helpful content - thanks a lot mate!
Welcome aboard :)

Yes, Apple TV connects directly to a TV using HDMI cable. You don’t need to use your iPhone with it.

Zwift hasn’t updated their UI to accommodate the new remote control. Once they do, I will definitely update this video.
Thanks. Really helpful.

Hello,is a UHD TV better for Zwift on Apple TV or is Full HD enought?
Zwift on ATV runs in 1080p so It doesn’t really matter if your tv is UHD. But it doesn’t hurt to go future proof and get an UHD.

Take a look at your TV aspect ratio. In most TVs 16:9 should be the setting but play with different ratios and see if that fixes the cropping issue.
