When Freddie talks about Bohemian Rhapsody this is an example of the genius gift Freddie had. This is the same gift Mozart had. Freddie said that people in the studio thought he was crazy but he had it (the music) in his head. Things were going on in his mind that regular people can't comprehend. This is the genius part. This gift is something that can't be learned, it's something you are born with.

He was a genius and had all his music in his head and needed to convey this to the others in the band. He was the drive and could see the end results.

Freddie was a genius the music and lyrics he came up with was pure genius he was so gifted... Most of his songs were good another gifted one is John deacon he wrote some of the most popular song for queen. Wish he was treated better, he was shy but it didn't stop him from playing a great bass and writing awesome music......Queen still rocking.!!!!❤❤❤❤

He really is beautiful and so crazy talented that it's unbelievable. I've now seen 2 short parts of this interview that overlap, I hope there's more. If you know, please share!

I remember this interview from Friday Night Videos. I had a copy of it until I got rid of all 12+ video tapes of music videos last year. So happy to have found it. :-D

I don't agree with the comment someone made that Queen's popularity died from the I Want to Break Free video. That was just an excuse they chose to use. I was a huge fan since I was a kid in the 70's and I was a teen when the disco-y Hot Space album came out. That's when their popularity started declining in the U.S. I remember people's negative reactions when it came out (including mine). We were used to the rock sound, and I remember being surprised at the sudden change when Hot Space came out. I even saw them live a couple of times before they gave up on the U.S. The Hot Space tour did not sell tickets like the previous concerts did.

He truly did :) I'm very surprised that smoking didn't effect his voice what-so-ever :P

FreddieMfan45 oh it did, it just made it more powerful lol. He used to have a high feathery voice but smoking of course caused it to be rougher. But i still love his voice Everyway

How ironic, they recorded 'The Works' album in LA, and afterwards they died a death in the States and didn't tour there again. That's what happens when you try to please folk after going all funky.

wait for it...the reason Queen died in the states is simple,,,,MTV....now Im sure youre thinkin they made good videos....dont matter...THE WORKS was their first album on Capitols Records....while they were in court with Elektra...Elektra was a division of WARNER BROS...guess who owned MTV?....keep in mind while Culture Club was in heavy rotation on MTV, Queen was banned for dressing in drag.....so yeah...MTV was eatin shoe leather at Live Aid...cuz all they did was hype a possible LZ reunion.

They also hyped up The Who. All the other artists (including Geldof's Boomtown Rats and Midge Ure's Ultravox) were a blur, even others like Mick Jagger, CSN, Bryan Adams, Patti LaBelle, Elton John and Paul McCartney.
