For reference the standard Vaalmonica ideal endboard now is: Field spell + scales + the imperm trap + Zebufera on field + the new level 4 + 1 counter on the angel pend scale. This is achievable off any way to the field spell + Vaal Scelta, and also by alternative routes depending on what you open in hand. You can also make things like Bagooska or Dweller which are protected by the effect of Zebufera. Running the rainbow bridge package for adding the field spell + cobalt eagle = That same set-up + bagooska or dweller. On field that means you have 2 imperms, targeting protection for all your Vaalmonica monster cards (so scales protected too) + bagooksa/dweller that is protected by battle/destruction once + a steal from the opponent's field with the field spell + if they attack in you get to quick link into the Dark Link 1 and pop their field for OTK follow up next turn. Biggest issue is usually playing through droll since a lot of the cards add, aside from that it's solid.
2 things: 1) if your opponent attack your monsters you can link summon 1 vaalmonica link monster, but you still need to meet the requirement to link summon it, you cannot summon Duralume if you don't have 3 resonance counter on Angello 2) the trap doesn't protect the scales because pendulum monsters in the pendulum zones are treated as spell cards I didn't think about rainbow bridge to them pendulum summon the cobalt eagle, I'll definitely look into that.
One other thing if you play guard penguins with the penguins search spell in ratios like the D/D/D engine you can make toad, if you play the gamma package you can make lambda and add the gamma back off one of the spells. The deck has ways to play around.
Before, Memento needed to open at least 2 specific cards to end on it's ideal setup, now one card gets you to exactly that + more, and the deck's multiple extenders ensure that you can play through some interruption now. You are now usually guaranteed to end on Combined, Cranium Burst, Mace, but now it's not uncommon to end on Combined, Cranium Burst, Fracture Dance, Horned Dragon, Mace, and even S:P now The Vaalmonica cards are great, but it doesn't really help the deck do anything it couldn't do before, it's just a lot better at doing it. As it happens, what it was already doing wasn't anything noteworthy
@monkfishy6348 the deck dodges Imperm and Veiler with both its quick play spells. And with these new cards, you have a much better chance to extend past most other hand traps
@@monkfishy6348 ive been testing the deck for two days since these cards were announced and that's literally just not true at all. the deck has tools to dodge both imperm and veiler, and ash is only an issue if you fail to open the deck's 3 extenders. droll can stop the deck dead, but it is possible to play around it to some extent if you know that your opponent is running it. nib can suck, especially if your opponent knows when to nib, but it's not necessarily a game ender afaik, shifter is the only hand trap that 100% kills this deck and there's nothing you can do about it, but losing to shifter isn't exactly a weakness exclusive to memento
The Memento support is so good. Ideally, the next wave they get a Link 5 that shares the name as their boss monster so the deck doesn't just hard lose to Book of Moon
I really wish the game did more link mechanics like the way infernoble does with their boss. Sort of like how you mentioned it, where a link version of the summoned monster with added effects
New Synchro 12 makes Wakaushi or Bike a one card combo into 2 synchro 12s on endboard. Can end on new synchro plus crimson dragon and turnskip in draw phase, plus if you open wakaushi plus any of your 1 card starters the add can be for the counter trap further solidifying the turnskip
I was in love with Vaalmonica the moment I saw it's gameplay but it was so inconsistent, you couldn't make your link-1s in your first turn, there were no 1/2 or even 3 card combo....now this support fixes everything, they only lack 1 xyz monster to make a 1 card combo.
I like the design of the vaalmonica cards, and I've needed something to make suship "playable" since circular got banned, so I've had a go at tinkering with the cards before and after the new stuff was announced, and it gives you a fairly consistent way to find scales with 3 counters on one. The end board might be bagooska with the on-theme traps and a link summon on attack declaration, but they are good fun.

Yeah, the lack of protection, and only an activated effect in the main phase to protect from targeting, realllllly sucks for Memento. Having a hard to summon Boss Monster without inbuilt protection or even a quick effect interruption in 2023 is whack.
When you really think about it, having disruptions in the hand or gy that can ignore mass field removal is becoming more prevalent in archetyped recently. In memento's case, while it is certainly not anything substantial, you can at least have a snatch steal live.
Alright, thank you. Wasn't sure what the game considered an effect doing nothing but I suppose changing life point amounts - while inconsequential if it doesn't reduce them to zero - is an actual change to the gamestate.
The new centurion cards are crazy, you can abuse the RDA cards and actually do stuff with them. Any way to get to vision resonator and any centurion starter is the lv12 with Baronne negate that sets up a crimson dragon play. Or you can play bystials and do something like do regular combo but synchro with gargoyle to add it to hand, then ss it with it's effect and tribute it to summon lubellion and use lubellion to place the branded trap that lets you synchro so you have 2 ways to synchro during your opponet's turn. Or if you opened or drew lubellion you can instead discard it to search for magnamutt and place regained instead to banish the gargoyle to ss magnamutt to both draw a card and search a dragon
I think depending on the format bystials will always be viable, especially with the new synchro setting up from banished aswell. Also duality could be considered as it turns the lvl 12 into crimson and bystials into tuners (malong)
