  • In this video I pull out my fishing tent, turned winter camping tent, and experiment with a brand new way of heating it. I received a new Diesel Air Heater, primarily for heating my gas generator hut, but end up applying to both places....and the results were astounding!!

Love the snow crunch when you are walking brings back happy memories. It’s getting colder here but no snow yet, lake is having a hard time freezing over to much wind but it will happen. Propane heaters have problems they add moisture to your heating area.
Diesel heater , with wood back up or cooking is the best way to go I find. Your boots squeaking on the snow brings back memories from winters past. Picking up a new Expedition SE with the 850 on Monday looks like I will have time to prepare it for ice fishing.

Chuck, if you bring the air inlet pipe into the tent, it will take the warmer air and heat it up more. You'll get more heat. You can then lower the output to save diesel. Only thing that has to be outside is the exhaust.

Hey chuck, excellent video as always, really enjoy seeing you try these new ideas. Regarding having to get up every hour to put wood in your stove when hot tenting I picked up some hardwood fire bricks from the hardware store and had great results with them, put 2 in before going to bed and was able to get 3 hours sleep at a time while the tent still being 20C when getting up. Definitely a game changer!

A great idea for heating the genny shack and ice hut. Just checked out the Vevor website and was amazed how well priced the heaters are. Lots of possibilities!
Back in the early 80s in Northern Saskatchewan I used a one burner Coleman naphtha stove and a 90 degree chimney pipe to heat up engine of the Polaris snowmachine i was stuck with when doing winter geophysics. Thawed out in a real hurry! Polaris 244 I used ran well once going but was terrible to start below minus 20C. Never left camp without that stove when using that Polaris. No issues with Bombardier Elans or Tundras though.

Hi Chuck, great episode as usual. Here is a quick safety tip to prevent your CO monitor from accidentally being blocked off in the wall pouch, touching a cold outside wall, or being knocked off a table. I put my monitor in a mesh bag and hang it from the shockpoles, this keeps the monitor warm, sensor exposed, and in the location the CO will be highest. You might want to consider jelling diesel with the winter temperatures you experience, mixing diesel and kerosene helps and burns a bit hotter. (personal experince)

I was looking for an on board air compressor with an attached air tank that would fit under the hood of my Jeep. I googled what I was looking for and Vevor came up, never heard of them before. So I did a bit of research on them, they are a HUGE company, selling a ton of stuff around the world. Glad you got a bit of a deal from them, now I'll order that compressor. I have a Winnerwell stove in medium. Kinda kick my butt for not getting the big one, but man, they are a nice stove. Take care my friend, stay safe.

What happened to the dogs when you were eating your rabbit lol they seemed to have disappeared? Your right about the buddy heater not being a good source of heat for a tent people forget that propane gives off moisture . Wood is by far the best but this diesel heater should be a nice dry heat as well. I wonder what kind of abuse the heater would take if your to go on a snowmobile trip with it. I would put a 12 plug on it and use my Jackery to power it keeping the jackery inside the tent that way I could also run a light or charge my phone and just have the solar panels outside. Loved the video take care and we will see you on the next one !

Ive read that you should burn it full power for a bit before shutdown to avoid carbon buildup

Great content Mister , so my question. How loud is it? Sounds pretty lound on the mic . And whats the battery consumption running on high? Guess im getting old . I like peace and quiet of the forest or lake when ice fishing..lol cant stand listening to a generator anymore all night .

It’s certainly louder than a fire. And doesn’t take place if it for sure. Myself, I tend to sleep regardless of background noise and curious is how it would work to be honest.

Propane is humid heat. Diesel is dry

I’m thinking so too bud. I don’t like propane heat at all, especially when it’s sub zero temps. Condensation builds up immediately with propane like you said and then freezes

This video was goin great until you said you had parsnip in your bottled rabbit. Lol. Just kidding. But I do hate parsnip. Been lookin at those heaters as well.

Haha. What’s funny is that I’m not a large fan of parsnip either. However, if you have any gamey taste on an animal, the parsnip overrides that taste and just kind of levels things out.

Awesome tip my friend. Will definitely put this into practice. Others have commented the same so I’m already thinking of a couple of good adaptations to incorporate. Tks for tuning in 👍

Contant d’avoir vue la chaufferette vevor, mais je crois que dans la tente 🏕️ Eskimo le poêle à bois 🪵 sera beaucoup plus efficace en ( BTU )et pratique pour la cuisson de vos aliments qui semble excellent.

Absolutely. I will have my woodstove as well for all my daytime heat and for cooking. Just want to try the heater for overnight constant heat
