I think they should publish a separate score out of five for actual structural safety, and then another score for the beeps, bongs and other safety systems that i don't really care about. Biggest safety improvement would be teaching people how to drive safely
This is some of the dumbest comments I keep hearing. *You* might be a safe driver, but other people aren't. Even with near 15 years experience driving under my belt, I avoided quite a large accident with a large van with safety assists: it only takes a fraction of second for you to lose focus.
Even better, the sound for the voice assistant « Reno » sounds exactly like the chime from windows XP when you plug in a usb device :) There is definitely some inspiration there
@ You miss on something. I tested it. Great suspension, great progressivity of the commands (throttle, brakes, steering), very balanced handling. I expected it to remind me of the 5 GT Turbo, it actually reminded me of the BMW 328i e46 when it was launched 25 years ago.
That's pretty irrelevant considering those are safer than the equivalent parts in a gasoline car. Current statistics put the chances of an EV catching fire per 100k cars at around 1/20th the chance of gasoline/diesel vehicles.
@@swecreationsi do not agree. i know it's proven safer, but the safety of the battery isn't 100% either...so chassi impact, side & through perforation as well as battery integrity after a crash will be a big topic for futur cars...if you say something else, i assume you don't drive one ....yet. feel free to answer...short please.

Sad that like the Zoe, their cars marked down for the latest technical aids, not wether the car structure is still safe n an accident ( the car still safe, but doesn’t have the new technical aids). Had lane guidance and lane assist, I knock it off. Collisions warnings/auto breaking, annoying in town. Nowhere near a car and it beeps its head off. Had SOS another modern requirement. The bit which would save lives even Europe still allows you to turn off. Speed signs advise you to slow down. If you want to make a car (and pedestrians) safe. Don’t allow it to be turned off. SPEED kills. Try crossing on a pedestrian crossing, nobody wants to be prepared to slow down and give way to pedestrians waiting to cross!
Can’t say I am impressed with ncap ratings anymore when they include ‘assists’ into a score. All I want to know is a cars safety in an impact, the rest are just bonuses
No. Assists have their own score. They literally shoed you the percentages. You can work out with basic school maths how much the star rating is excluding the assists.

It's annoying that the once really good NCAP test has now been watered down with the assistance crap. The structural performance and protection in the event of an impact is what counts. Not how much stupid bullshit beeps and annoys or disempowers the driver. Let them test it, fine, and rate it too - with an additional scoring - but not mixing it up with the crash test stars.
@@DashCamSerbia well, Volvo EX30 has 88 % with 5 stars . Renault should test their cars before euro NCAP tests to have 5 stars each time. They have several cars with 5 stars and was better some years ago.
@stephen10aa Every manufacturer does internal crash testing. But most now days do it in simulations. Only high end cars from premium brands go through real internal crash testing during their development.

yes 4/5 is nothing to celebrate, but considering that the Renault Zoé got 0 Stars, I thing we can call this an improvment.
It does well in 3 out of 4 categories, only the assistance systems are a little worse, which is probably why it only gets 4 stars.
The Zoe got zero stars because it didn't have Autonomous Emergency Braking.

Not really. The tests get harder every couple of years. 4 is very good. Most US cars are 2-3 or worse.

Actually it’s not considering the new revised tests that are a lot more strict. Cars that got five stars only a few years back would be 3-4 now.
